Shuddering, as he found himself looking up at a Yeerk ship that seemed to be nearly the size of a small moon, Tommy jerked his head as he heard the silent sound of Tobias' mental voice.
(I have Bug fighters up here,) the hawk reported, drawing all of their attention as he swooped back in. (A pair.)
(Who cares about Bug fighters?) Marco demanded, before Tommy could think of anything to say, himself. (They're nothing compared to that… That whale!)
(The Bug fighters are circling,) Tobias reported, clearly not paying any attention to what Marco was saying. (I think they're looking for trouble.)
(We'll try not to look like trouble,) he said dryly, managing to scrape up at least some of his composure, considering everything that was still going on.
The massive ship was slowly lowering itself down, seeming as though it might land directly on the lake that it was so determinedly hovering over, and Tommy found himself wondering just what else was going to happen on this strange day.
(Are you guys seeing this? It looks like it's going to land on the lake,) Tobias said, clearly having noticed just the same thing that had been unsettling Tommy ever since he'd gotten his first glimpse of the ship that they were all staring up at as they closed in around the aforementioned lake.
(Are we seeing it. No, we've completely missed the fact that a spaceship the size of Delaware is hovering in midair,) Marco said, as the six of them all tried as hard as they could not to draw the attention of every one of the patrolling Controllers around the lake.
(It's… incredible. And kind of terrifying,) he said, glancing briefly back up at the spaceship before turning his attention to the Controllers all gathered around them.
(You know, I hate to be a pessimist, but when I look at that thing, I get a bad feeling about our chances,) Marco said, sounding about as unsettled as Tommy felt, right at that moment. (Five hounds and a bird, versus a ship the size of Idaho.)
(A minute ago, it was just the size of Delaware,) Cassie pointed out, a dry sort of good-humor in her silent tone.
(I just hope it doesn't end up being the size of Texas, or anything,) he said, glancing up briefly at the ship, before returning his attention to the Controllers all gathered around the lake it seemed to be landing either at or on.
