Once the both of them had made it back into their respective dolphin morphs, Tommy found himself more than a little confused by everything that had happened. Sure, he'd seen a lot of strange things since he and the rest of the Animorphs had started fighting the Yeerks, but those kinds of things had been caused by either the Yeerks, or the power that the Andalite Prince Elfangor had given them, back when all this had started in the first place.
But this… it'd been a whale, just a normal whale who'd saved him and Marco from drowning, while they were out in the middle of the ocean.
Even as he and the other Animorphs drifted apart for the day they needed to keep up their cover, Tommy found himself wondering just what they were going to be doing next; they hadn't managed to find the Andalite they were looking for, at least not yet, so there was clearly something more that they would need to do.
Once all of them had managed to meet up again, at Rachel's house so he was in cat morph again so that no one else would be able to tell that he was meeting with them, Tommy turned his attention to Jake as he laid things out.
"Okay, this is what we know, or at least what we think we know," Jake said, taking their fellow Animorphs in with a sweeping glance. "First, we believe that a surviving Andalite – or maybe more than one Andalite – is trapped out under the ocean."
"Hopefully, Andalites can hold their breath for a really long time," Marco said, and Tommy found himself wishing – not for the first time – that he could roll his eyes while in morph.
"Second, Cassie believes that she can find this Andalite, thanks to the information from the whale," Jake continued, taking up the main thread of their discussion once again.
Once they'd all managed to settle on a plan to get them all out to the place in the ocean where Cassie had been told that the Andalite – or Andalites – would be, Tommy found himself struggling with an entirely different hunger than the one he'd had to deal with when he morphed a lion.
(Hey, half a sandwich! It's salami!)
(Look over there. Is that a Jujubee?)
(Pizza! Pizza! Part of the crust, and it's one of those stuffed crusts!)
Once again, Tommy found himself wishing he could have rolled his eyes while in morph.
