Marco was the one who spotted it first, once Cassie's mother had gone back inside her house, and after a bit of discussion, they all decided to see if they could draw the Veleek to them; see if they would be able to tire it out, keep it from locking onto any one of them long enough to either tire it out, or if it didn't get tired, at least long enough for them to find some other way to deal with it. Once they'd all piled into Cassie's dad's truck, Marco was the one who offered to drive.

Of course, that had problems of its own; mainly the problem that Marco couldn't drive.

(I could probably drive better than this,) Tommy said, as Marco clipped what sounded like his tenth trash can, then swerved onto the highway, nearly side-swiping a car as he did so. (And I'm starting to think I wouldn't even need to demorph to do it,) he said, fluttering his wings and gripping the dashboard with his talons to stay upright while Cassie's dad's truck wove and shuddered and bumped along the road.

"You think you wanna try?!" Marco demanded, glaring over at him.

"I thought you said you could drive!" Cassie exclaimed, looking for a moment like she wanted to hit Marco.

Or maybe that was just him, since Tommy would have been the first to tell anyone who asked just how annoyed he was with the younger boy right now.

"Okay, so it's not exactly like Wipeout," Marco said, looking sheepish for the first time since they'd started all of this. "I'm doing the best I can."

More than anything, Tommy wished he could roll his eyes right then.
