Once he'd been able to meet up with the rest of the Animorphs again, after what seemed to be an eventful day in class, what seemed to be a trip to Marco's house that hadn't gone well, and after that a shopping trip with Jake that didn't seem to have gone much better, Tommy found that they were actually confronting Ax about something.
(What is the matter?) Ax asked.
(What's the matter?!) Marco demanded, obviously furious about whatever it was that had happened. (You're asking me what's the matter?! I'll tell-)
Marco's thought-speak fell silent as his demorph progressed too far to use it, but he was still clearly furious.
"What did you do?!" Marco demanded, once he was fully human again.
Not having much of a stake in what seemed to be Marco's argument with Ax, though he understood why his fellow Animorph was worried, and when Rachel mentioned the threat of the Yeerks finding out what he'd done, Ax himself seemed to understand, as well. All of them had to be careful not to let the Yeerks know about them. They'd never survive if they were found out.
Or, at least they'd wish they hadn't.
Still, even as they all left Ax behind, Tommy couldn't help but wonder what the Andalite was thinking about. There really did seem to be something he was hiding, even after he seemed to have realized that what he'd done to Marco's dad's computer wasn't a good thing. Altering the software in a way that was almost bound to draw the attention of the Yeerks wasn't something that any of them could just ignore.
