Since he'd drawn the short straw, something he was both glad about while at the same time wishing that he could have spared Marco or Cassie from having to morph into a termite, Tommy morphed into a wolf so that he would be better able to distract the Yeerks and their forces. After what had happened the last time all of them had come to this place, Tommy suspected that they would at least be on the lookout for wolves.
He was right, but it wasn't a particularly pleasant development.
Dodging the Yeerks, leading them away from the compound so that the rest of the Animorphs would at least be in less danger from them, Tommy found that dodging Dracon beams and the few automatic weapons that the Yeerks tended to use even in situations like this took up most of his attention. It spared him from worrying about the others too much, but at the same time Tommy didn't like the thought of forgetting about them. Still, keeping the Yeerks from killing him was more than enough to occupy his mind for the moment.
Not knowing just when the rest of the Animorphs would be able to make it out of the Yeerks' logging compound, Tommy could only hope that he'd be able to meet up with them when they did leave. Once the rest of the Animorphs did join up with him, he couldn't help but notice just how silent the rest of them were. He hadn't quite been expecting anything different, considering what the others had needed to do to get inside, but Tommy knew that that kind of thing couldn't bode well for what had happened while they were inside.
They probably wouldn't want to talk about it, either, so there was that to consider.
