They'd discussed their next course of action when they all made it back to Cassie's barn, and Tommy had ended up asking Marco how he and Erek had met in the first place, and found that Erek had been one of his friends from school. Or, at least someone he'd known; as well as anyone could have said they knew Erek when they hadn't known that he was an android. Erek had apparently been present at Marco's mother's funeral.
A fact that stuck in the younger boy's mind, but also something he'd seemed uncomfortable talking about, so Tommy hadn't pressed him.
They'd all agreed to meet up with Erek at the address Marco had given to him, but they weren't all going to go into the house with him. Marco, Jake, Cassie, and Ax would be going into the house, while he, Rachel, and Tobias would be staying outside as backup.
"We'll be close enough for Ax's thought-speech to reach us, and Tommy and I will morph and go right in through the front door," Rachel said, folding her arms and glaring at the house they'd landed just a bit away from.
"If you do, just try not to stomp all over me in the process," Marco said, smiling but still seeming more than a little unsettled.
The four of them made their way into Erek's house, while he and Rachel ducked low under the fence they'd landed behind.
(I'll keep an eye on things from up here,) Tobias said, settling down in a nearby tree.
He and Rachel called their thanks, then the pair of them shared a look as they settled down into the bush to wait and see what would happen. For a long time, nothing happened, and Tommy saw Rachel starting to get more and more impatient as time wore on and on.
"I'm sure they're doing all right," he said, leaning in close so that he wouldn't have to speak loudly enough that his voice would have the risk of carrying.
He didn't want to risk anyone overhearing him and coming over to investigate.
"Yeah, I hope you're right," Rachel said, still glaring at the house where four of their friends were meeting with a possible ally.
He couldn't help being worried, himself, but Rachel was already unsettled enough that Tommy didn't want to bring up any of his own misgivings.
