Authors Note: Hey guys, this is my first story of my new Teen Titans era. I haven't had time to properly sit down and write my Teen Titans stories without getting distracted or running out of ideas. So, my grammar and pacing might be a bit rusty. Please let me know how this story turned out in your opinion and what I can do going forward to make it better. I originally wasn't going to write a 4th of July Teen Titans story, but while me and my family were popping fireworks, something gave me inspiration to do so. If you want to learn what it was, read the second author's note after the story.

Also, this story takes place during the events of Season 5 and before Trouble in Tokyo, so Robin and Starfire are not a couple. This is also a year after Mad Mod took over Jump City on that specific Independence Day.

I do not own Teen Titans!

Anyways, enjoy

July 4, 2006

"Alright yall, we got seven left to go."

"Aw man, already?" the green changeling whined.

"Yep, then it's back to the Brotherhood of Evil search." Cyborg replied. He was currently trying to light a small firework stick with a lighter, however the drizzle of rain made the task harder.

Beast Boy was holding onto a sparkler, it's sparks dying out before burning out. He dropped the stick to the ground before stepping on it to make sure the fire was out completely. He then turned to his masked leader. "Dude, you're missing out! Aren't you going to light more fireworks with us?"

Robin was crouching down near the entryway to the roof and fiddling with a bag. "Go ahead. I'll be over there in a minute." He then got up and pulled a box out of the bag and began walking towards the entrance to the tower. Beast Boy simply shrugged and watched as the firework Cyborg was lighting had finally ignited and soared through the sky.

"Hey Raven, I got some more fireworks for you to light" Cyborg's voice boomed.

Raven, who had been sitting inside the entryway to the roof, put down her book and pulled up her hood. As Robin walked past, she asked, "Plan on telling us what's inside that bag?"

"I think that would ruin the surprise," he responded with an unreadable tone. However, Raven's empathic powers picked up on what seemed to be excitement and anticipation. She raised her eyebrow and wondered what could the boy wonder be planning before continuing to walk to the other boys.

Cyborg handed Raven the lighter and she swiftly turned it on and lit the small strand. Everyone backed up and watch the firework swiftly fly through the sky. It exploded with a rather loud pop and let out a purple sparkle.

"She makes it look so easy." Beast Boy grumbled.

Raven placed another firework in the tube. "It is easy. You're just too incompetent to make it work."

"Hey! It's not my fault that the lighter is broken." He exclaimed. Just as he finished his sentence, Raven turned on the lighter without any issues and ignited another firework. "Lucky.", Beast Boy mumbled under his breath. Raven rolled her eyes, yet a smirk was visible.

Just then, Starfire walked onto the roof. "Friends, I have returned with the necessary precautions for the rain. Let us continue igniting the works of fires!" she chirped. The three other Titans looked at her with quizzical expressions. The alien girl took notice and expressed her concern. "Is something wrong?" The short silence was then broken by Cyborg asking a simple question.

"Starfire, why are you wearing a bag on your head like that?"

"To prevent my hair from becoming wet. I have found that my hair becomes quite unpleasant when it is raining", she responded. The bag, despite its purpose, was styled in a way to let her long hair flow out around her, yet the top of her head was still covered.

Raven looked down at the girl's shoes. "And you're wearing bags on your shoes because…?"

"I do not wish for my shoes to become soaked. Although, that occurrence is quite rare. On my planet we often dress in this attire when we have weather similar to rain. Instead of bags, we use the large mouths of glo-"

Suddenly, another firework launched into the air and lit the sky with lime green sparks, cutting off Starfire and catching her attention. Beast Boy held up the lighter in victory.

"I did it!" he cheered.

Starfire let out another squeal of excitement as the last the firework exploded and filled the night sky with hot pink sparks. She was currently finishing off her poppers Cyborg gave to her. As she threw down the explosive balls to the ground, she couldn't help thinking about Robin, who has still not returned to the roof. A wave of sadness began to wash over her.

Did Robin not want to pop fireworks with them? Did he not want to have fun with them? Did he not want to be around them?

Did he not want to be around her?

"Well, that's the rest of them." Cyborg commented, looking into the box of burned-out fireworks. The light rain, for now, came to a pause. Everyone began to clean up the area when suddenly a familiar voice rang out.

"Actually, we still got one left."

Everyone turned their heads towards the source. There stood Robin holding what looked to be a large and wide firework stick. He calmy walked to an empty firework tube and placed it in. He adjusted the string and picked up a lighter. Starfire, who's eyes filled with sparkles upon Robin's arrival, flew over to him and gave him a bone crushing hug.

Through his pained state, Robin managed to hold up the lighter and squeak out a "Who wants to light it?"

Starfire let go of the spiky haired teen and let him hand the lighter to Beast Boy. The changeling began pressing the buttons on the lighter.

Nearly a minute had gone by with Beast Boy trying to turn on the lighter, but to no avail. Cyborg let out a sigh and placed his head in his palm while Raven's eye twitched. Beast Boy would sometimes stop to smack the lighter and repeat that he just had lit a firework. Finally, Starfire had enough.

"I cannot wait any longer! I must see the works of fires!" she exclaimed and used her powers to ignite the firework.

Four other voices quickly chimed in with a mixture of similar phrases like, "Starfire, no!", "Wait!", and "Remember what happened last time!"

Their cries fell upon deaf ears as the alien already ignited the string and the green spark quickly spread. Everyone else quickly braced themselves for an explosion, however the one they were expecting never came. Several smaller fireworks launched out of the larger one and lit up the sky. They were different shades of red and their explosions seemed to form a picture. First, it was an empty circle that was filled with a giant R, similar to the one on Robin's uniform.

Everyone turned to him with a confused expression. Without looking at them he said, "Just wait."

The next set of sparks came after the previous ones faded. This time, they were a green color. Slowly, the different explosions formed into a green lion, its explosion sounding almost like a roar.

"Dude!" Beast Boy screamed at his emblem.

Just as before, the image died down and was soon replaced with another one. Now there was several explosions of purple sparks above them. Just as it did before, an image was formed, this time it was a bird, a raven to be exact. Although Raven didn't say anything, a small smile found its way out.

Blue was the next color to take over the show. The pattern of sparks formed the image of a vehicle, which could only be the T-Car.

"Booyah! That's my baby!" Cyborg cheered.

Several orange fireworks began to launch, forming small stars in the sky. Starfire smiled in glee as she realized she was next. However, the small firework stars seemed never ending. Starfire then felt a hand brush against her own. She looked down to see a green glove interlocking their fingers. Blush began to creep over her face as their hands joined together. The amount of orange starts increased, almost as if it was building into something big.

Soon enough, an image started to form. First there was a circle, a face, and then hair. The number of fireworks became more intense. Finally, the image was finished.

"Glorious!"

There in the sky stood the face of none other than Starfire herself. Several other colors like pink and yellow were added for variety and vibrantness. The bright colors reflected off of the group's faces as the light show came to end. All that was left was the smoke in the sky. Robin once again felt a pair of strong arms wrap around him, squeezing the air out of him.

Starfire couldn't help squealing once more. "Oh Robin, that was wonderful! Who knew you were able to create such beautiful images with these works of fire!"

Robin broke away from the girl. "No problem Star. It took a while, but I managed to pull it off."

"Such effort is admirable on my planet. Please tell me, what led you to do this." She asked.

"Well, uh. I mean, you guys are my team. We've been through so much together. Even hell once. And um, honestly, you're my best friend Starfire." This comment led to Robin receiving another bone crushing hug.

Meanwhile, the other three Titans looked at each other with knowing glances.

"Who is he kidding?"

Author's Note 2: Okay, so the thing that inspired me to write this story was solely based on the fact that my cousin didn't want to get her hair or shoes wet and dirty while it was raining. Because of that, she came back outside with a bag on her head and shoes, which is why I had Starfire do that in this story. I just thought it would be funny thing to include in my timeline. So, yeah that's the only reason I wrote this story really.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed that last minute story. Stay tuned for my Teen Titans Season 6 series. Hopefully, you guys will love it!
