Chapter 14

When: Tuesday, June 1, 2027

Where: The Logan Huntzburger Townhouse in Manhattan

Well, it's here. Graduation for her first baby. They will leave Friday morning for Fez. They will be gone for a week, when they return, Richie and his graduating class will fly to Tampa via the Huntzburger private jet. That is where their ship will launch from. He and his graduating class will cruise to the Bahamas, then to Key West.

Rory and Logan were asked to chaperone, but they declined. One of Honor's friends has twins in Richie's class, so she and Honor are going in place of Logan and Rory. Cool Aunt Honor. Richie said he could deal with that.

Tonight, after graduation, a group of Richie's friends will spend the rest of the week in the Hamptons. Rory would have been a basket case all week, but she was much too busy to think about it. Mitchum had been in the hospital. He had surgery to replace a value. Shira's hip was hurting her too badly to sit very long in those hospital chairs, so Rory and Honor had been splitting the duty. He was in rehab now, hoping to go home to watch Richie's graduation. It was being video streamed. Shira had a nasty fall after Christmas, she had to have hip surgery. It still bothered her.

Rory was still in the bedroom. Logan had not seen her since he left for work this morning. It was noon. Hayden and Katie were at school. Richie came in the same time Logan did. When Logan entered the bedroom, Rory was sitting at the desk with her laptop open. Pictures of the kids were showing on a slide show.

"Hey, what are you doing?" Logan asked.

"I sent the pictures yesterday to the graduation committee. The ones they show during graduation. I put this together while I was looking for the right photos to send. You know the ones that will embarrass him the most?" Rory said as she turned to look at Logan. He could tell she had been crying.

"Hey, you knew this day would come. I tried to tell you not to send him to school." Logan was trying to make her laugh.

"I know, but the other two were demanding my attention," Rory said.

"Do you remember his kindergarten graduation?" Logan asked.

"I remember you were running late. I was worried you would miss it." Rory said.

"Yeah, but I got there on time," Logan said. "Yes, you did."

May 29, 2014

Rory had moped around all day. Richie was graduating from Kindergarten. He was so cute in his cap and gown picture. She had asked Logan not to go to work. She wanted the three of them to go on a picnic. But Logan had a big meeting that day. Graduation was scheduled for 6:30, but the graduates had to be there by 6. At 5:30, she had a house full of people, but not Logan. Mitchum, Shira, Christopher, Gigi, Emily, who was lost without her Richard, Lorelai, and Luke were all at Logan and Rory's house waiting on Logan. Rory couldn't wait any longer. She called Frank, telling him she was ready.

Frank dropped Rory and Richie off at the door of the colosseum and went back for the rest. After Rory dropped Richie off backstage, she went to save seats. It wasn't too long before everyone arrived. That is everyone but Logan. He texted her, telling her he was running late but promised to be there before they started.

When everyone got there and Logan wasn't there, Rory was gritting her teeth. She was so mad, but couldn't let anyone know.

Mitchum spoke up "He will be here. His meeting ran just a little longer than he expected." he said, trying to reassure her. Shira and Emily both just patted her on the back. They both knew what it was like to be waiting on your husband to show up at a function that he knew about all week.

Lorelai took the seat next to Rory. "Mom, I would like to sit with my husband when he gets here," Rory said.

"I'll sit here until he does, but I am not moving when it starts, so he had better hurry." She said, Rory didn't reply. Emily was sitting next to her. She was talking with Shira. She heard her say something about moving. She was trying to listen.

"You know, your big shot husband should have planned better. What's the chance that he will even make.?" Lorelai said.

Rory looked at Lorelai. "What's the chance of sitting there with your mouth shut?" Rory asked. Lorelai sat there with her mouth open. Christopher who was sitting in front of her was doing all he could not to laugh. Even Luke had a small smile on his face. About that time, someone came over the PA system to announce they would be getting a late start due to some equipment malfunction. Rory smiled to herself. She would not let on to anyone, but she was sure Ms. Penny got a call from Logan and had been Huntzburgered.

Sure enough, 10 minutes later Logan came walking through the door. He spotted Rory and headed that way. Lorelai moved so he could sit down. The lights dimmed and the program started. She later found out that Logan had called and begged to delay the start. With all the money they gave to that school, they couldn't refuse.

"You don't plan on being late for his graduation tonight?" she asked.

"No, I am home until it is time to leave. How many people are meeting us at the house?" he asked.

"None. I told everyone to just meet us at the school. Richie is driving himself. He has to be there early. Hayden is going to pick up MaryLyn." Logan rolled his eyes. She laughed then continued. "Shira, Honor, and Josh are meeting us there. Mitchum and Grandma are video streaming it." She told him,

"Together?" Logan asked.

"No," she was laughing. "Can you see the two of them watching the streaming together? She just shook her head. "Mom and Luke know where to go also."

Logan was standing outside the bathroom. "Ace, if you don't hurry, we will be late." "I'm coming." "Traffic tonight will be bad," Logan said.

Frank got them there on time. They were all in their seats, waiting for Richie's name to be called out. They had listened to all the speeches. They laughed at the video. It was getting close. Herman Nathan Henton, Albert Timothy Hitilen, Susanna Teresa Holly, Richard Christopher Huntzburger. He did it. She smiled so big. Tears were running down her cheek. She didn't know if it was sad tears or happy tears. Her first baby is a high school graduate.

THE END

Thank you for reading my story. As I said previously, I will not write an epilogue. I am pretty sure I will write a sequel, just not right now. I appreciate all the reviews and suggestions.
