Lost and Found

The Prizes

A young boy gazed upon a crowd of onlookers, wondering what the commotion was. He approached the crowd but had to weasel his way through the group of people. Bobbing and weaving his way through bodies and legs to get to what was so special. Eventually, he made his way to the front of the crowd. Now he found himself surrounded by what he can only assume are kids his own age, all gazing upon a person… in a rabbit costume.

The suit looked as if it was a mix match of fabric all rolled into one. Stitched line work could be seen going throughout the whole costume. Patches of a pink plaid and gray could be seen sewed in various places as if the maker ran out of the white cloth. Needless to say, the whole thing looked as if it was handmade. However, despite the costume head having the stereotypical markings of a rabbit. It just looked plain eerie. Its ears swayed to and fro as the person underneath moved their head about. The rabbit covered its open mouthed smile with two buck teeth while bobbing up and down as if laughing when the children started to cheer. But what made the costumed individual creepy to begin with were… the big blood red eyes.

That just so happen to stop and stare at the new arrival. The boy flinched and froze as they made eye contact with him. He calmed once the person's attention was brought back to their task at hand, entertaining the crowd. In front of the costumed rabbit was a table and on it was various stuff, one would associate with magic tricks such as a top hat and a deck of card and so on.

And that's apparently what the performer was… a magician. Maybe that eeriness was all part of their act to be mysterious. That feeling slowly started to leave as the boy watched with interest as two rings that were connected only moments ago suddenly split apart, rope that had been cut seconds ago seemed to mysterious mend itself back into one long cord, and several other mystifying tricks. The rabbit then pulled out a small chalkboard with a piece of chalk before writing a single word on it.

'VOLUNTEER?'

The kid was startled and flinched as the children around him threw up their arms and yelling trying to get the performer's attention. He quietly watched as the bunny began tapping their chin with their finger in thought as it surveyed the little ones. After several moments, a digit was pointed in his direction. The child's eyes went wide as he pointed at himself just to confirm he wasn't just imagining it. The costume individual let out a slight giggle, which told him the performer was female, as they nodded and so the boy approached the bunny.

The rabbit began erasing the chalkboard with the back of her costumed arm before writing a new word.

'NAME?'

"I'm… um… Gregory," the small boy quietly replied. He watched as the individual gave him a thumbs up before beckoning him over to her table. The rabbit soon pulled out three cups and placed them upside down before also pulling out a small red ball. She showed him the ball before bouncing it and placing it underneath one of the cups. He watched as she pointed at the cup hiding the hidden object before slowly mixing it up with the other two cups. The rabbit took her chalkboard again, erased, and wrote a new word.

'Ball?'

Gregory pointed at the one cup he assumed that contained the hidden object, which happened to be the right cup, and lo and behold there it was. She gave him a thumbs up as some of the audience clapped namely the little ones. The costume person then held up two fingers before writing on the chalkboard…

'ROUND 2?'

The boy slowly nodded his head and watched as she placed the ball back underneath the cup. He watched carefully as she moved the hidden object again but this time faster. Once her hands stopped she gestured towards the cups silently asking if he knew which one held the hidden ball under. Gregory pointed to the one on the left and surprisingly it was there! The bunny playfully smacked her forehead as if surprised herself before giving him a double thumbs up.

She pulled up her chalkboard again but this time instead of erasing, she scribbled out the question mark and wrote another word underneath so this time it read…

'ROUND 2

PRIZE'

"Prize?" Gregory quietly said completely shocked that he won something. He never won anything in his short life. The boy watched as she reached into a tote that was decorated with a cartoon purple bunny that seemed to be holding onto a bowling ball. She quickly pulled something out that was covered by her hands. His eyes went wide in anticipation, however they deflated once he saw his prize. He stared at the object. It was flat with a picture of a smiling cartoon purple hippo's head wearing a top hat. She presented the prize to him as he quietly murmured, "Thank you."

The lady silently nodded back a you're welcome as she once again pulled up her chalkboard before erasing her words and writing something new.

'ROUND 3?'

Gregory nodded his little head enthusiastically. She clapped her hands in excitement as she hid the ball back underneath a cup and began mixing them up again but at an even faster pace. The child's eyes went wide as he quickly lost which one contained the ball. His grip tightened on the hippo's face as he just watched the cups do their dance. The rabbit came to a stop before gesturing to the cups once more. Gregory simply stood in place not having a clue on which cup had the ball. He could hear the small whispers from the adults in the crowd.

"There's no way he's gonna find it."

"Heck even I lost track of it."

"What kind of prize is that? A Mr. Hippo magnet?"

He looked up at the rabbit and that feeling of eeriness came flooding back as those piercing red eyes stared back at him. The bunny's head tilted as she waited for him to make a choice. Gregory slowly lifted up his hand as he pointed at the center cup. This time, however, instead of picking up the cup he had pointed at she picked up the left one. To Gregory it felt agonizingly slow as it revealed nothing underneath. With that she clapped in excitement but soon her hand went to the cup on the right. And once again, Gregory felt it going agonizingly slow as he waited for the reveal. It may have been for dramatic effect for the audience around him but to him he started feeling nervous. So nervous in fact he didn't even notice he started holding his breath.

Air slowly filled his lungs once he saw that there wasn't a red ball underneath that cup. So by process of elimination, the ball must've been underneath the middle cup. This time she quickly swooped up the cup doing a little twirl of showmanship revealing the small red ball. Gregory's mouth curved up into a smile as he heard the kids in the crowd cheer with even some of the adults applauding behind him. He looked up at her as he fiddled with the magnet in his hands as he softly said, "Prize?"

The bunny slightly giggled as she nodded her head. She watched as he smiled up at her as she pulled out the top hat upside down. The lady showed Gregory and the audience that the hat was empty. She wiggled her fingers in front of him before placing her hand inside of the hat. She pulled out nothing but then pointed to the small boy before pointing inside of the hat.

And with that, Gregory mimicked her. He wiggled his fingers before placing his hand inside of the hat and felt something. It felt something that soft and plush-like with a tuft of fur on top. He grabbed a hold of it and pulled it out.

The world around Gregory seemed to vanish to him as he stared at the plushie. He didn't notice as the rabbit lady got the crowd to give a round of applause to him as her volunteer. He didn't notice as the lady began giving out slips of paper to all the children in the audience. Gregory stared at the plush taking in all the little things that make up the toy.

It was an animal of the canine variety, a dog, coyote, or maybe even a fox. No. Now that he thought about it, it was more than likely a wolf. The coloring of the animal was purplish but at the same time it also reminded him of grey. Its snout was actual grey with a black button nose. The toy had its mouth in an open smile with its felt teeth on the top and bottom of the mouth. Gregory also figured the toy was of a female character as it seemed to have purple lipstick on her mouth. She wore a red top with a black design, which reminded him of a drawn explosion, with red shoulder pads that had the same design on them. Her grey stomach was exposed as she had similar red bottoms on. The toy's paws were also grey while having purple pads on the bottom of them and her hands' claws were green while her feet claws were a bright purple. He found it odd that the animal had magentaish purple with black stripes colored arm wraps and leggings but didn't question her fashion choice. Gregory's eyes traveled back up to her face. She had two black markings on each cheek which he figured were suppose to be whiskers. The toy had an earring and stud in each ear. She had eyebrows and parts of her eyelids were a darker purple with what he figured were eyelashes stitched at the corner of her eye. She had a tuft of fur acting as her hair, it was mainly grey with a few hints of purple here and there but also with a green strand in the front.

Gregory stared into her golden eyes before holding it close to himself and nuzzling it. He flinched when he heard a throat clear. The boy turned to the source of the noise and found the rabbit lady staring at him. "Sorry," he embarrassingly said quietly. He heard her slightly giggle once more before she handed him a slip of paper. It read, 'Free Slice of Fazbear Pizza with a Chica Drink.' Gregory felt his stomach rumble before looking back up at the lady and quietly asking, "Where is this at?"

The lady tilted her head in confusion. "You don't know?" she spoke for the first time which for some reason shocked him. Once his initial shock wore off, he shook his head. "It's from Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex, home to Freddy and the Gang, where you can find the best pizza in town," she replied as if she had rehearsed that for hours trying to bring in customers. When he didn't reply right away she asked, "Have you never been there?" Once more he shook his head. "Haven't you heard of Freddy Fazbear?" and a third time he shook his head.

"Should I have?" he asked timidly. Her head seemed to have twitched which frightened him a bit causing him to grip his plush tighter.

"I could take you there if you don't know how to get there."

Suddenly, a metaphorical red flag went up as that eerie feeling from earlier came back. Those red eyes just gazed at him seemly to pierce right through him. And that's when he realized the crowd of people had all but vanished leaving only him with the costumed lady. "Umm… no thank you."

"Are you sure?" she asked practically getting all into his face and personal space.

He began to feel nervous. As he took two steps back she took one step forward. "I'm sure." His eyes looked to and fro not finding another living soul around. Gregory felt alone, very alone. He wanted to run but found his legs didn't want to budge. The child basically broke Rule Number One: Don't talk to strangers. He also broke Rule Number Two: Don't take candy from strangers. Sure it wasn't candy but gifts essentially counted as well. Gregory didn't know what to do.

But suddenly barking was heard as the two turned their gaze to see a couple walking their dog. The canine snarled in the rabbit lady's direction. While her focus was on the pet, Gregory booked it. He bolted, running as fast as his little feet could carry him.

The costumed lady stared at the couple that seemed shocked that their pooch was acting aggressive. They pretty much dragged their pet away. Once the couple and canine were out of sight, she turned and saw Gregory running off. Coincidentally, he just so happened to be running towards the Pizzaplex. The rabbit lady simply started waving towards the fleeing boy. "See you soon Gregory. See you soon."

Wow it has been a good long time since I've posted anything here.
But I've had this idea in my head for awhile now and I actually wrote it down.

This is my first foray into the FNAF fandom but I hope you all enjoy!
