The Mandalorian walked carefully through the busy thoroughfares, taking random side streets and double backing on himself until he was certain that he wasn't being watched or followed.
He didn't trust Ktar and wasn't surprised when he had found the trackers on his new ship.
But it had been much too easy to find them...
He knew that there was more to this job than he had been told about. That in itself wasn't unusual, but this time the lack of information felt different somehow.
Talk of dark crystals and ex Imperial involvement is enough to make me paranoid I guess...
Now that he was sure he wasn't being followed he strode with more purpose, towards his real destination.
The Bounty Hunters guild.
He soon reached a plain looking door, halfway along a quiet back street. He pressed the button mounted to one side to alert the occupants that he was here and then he waited.
After a moment a small rectangular flap opened in the middle of the door.
"I'm Din Djarin. I'm here to see Greef Karga."
The flap closed without response, but after a second the door slowly slid open.
Standing before Mando was a humanoid protocol droid, the copper tones of his metal exterior had tarnished and was no long reflective, the time spent on the desert plant having taken a visual toll. His servo motors whined loudly as his arms flapped as he spoke.
"I am C2-AB...Bounty Hunter liason for the space port of Mos Eisley. How can I help you today ?"
"You can't. I'm here to see Greef Karga. The only thing you can do is to go tell him I'm here." Mando growled as he walked past the flustered droid.
Droids...
Mando continued along the short darkened corridor. It opened out into a bright square courtyard, open aired and bordered on all sides by thick sandstone walls and ornate pillars. On each wall there was an identical looking corridor leading from it. There were a few other people milling around in the open area, some talking to each other and others sitting by themselves in front of a few tables that had been placed in one of the corners.
Mando looked around at the others, knowing that the bounty hunter profession was competitive and the guild could be somewhere that enemies would run into each other on occasion. He recognised a few of the other hunters, their paths having crossed in the past, but no-one who he had been especially hostile with before.
Looks like today it's going to be quiet around here...
He walked over to the quietest part of the square and leant with his back against the wall.
After a short while a green skinned Rodian walked into the square and, having spotted the Mandolorian, made her way over to where he was standing. As she got near to him he watched as she adjusted a small translator device that she wore around her neck and over her custom made robes, her shrill sing-song whoops converting seamlessly into his own language.
"Greetings Mandolorian"
At first Mando made no attempt to reply, but he finally spoke when the Rodian did not move away.
"...and who are you ?"
"Forgive me. I am Reeba. I am the acting head of the guild here. How can I help you ?"
This information took Mando by suprise. "Where is Greef Karga?"
"Ah, Karga ?" He has moved on, he now heads up the guild on Navarre, but I assure you, your reputation precedes you. You are one of the bounty hunters he spoke most highly of before he left, I presume you are here looking for work ? I have several pucks that may be of interest."
"I'm not here for work. I need information. In the past Karga has helped me with this. Discretely." He replied.
"If its information you require then that is something of a specialty of mine, and discretion is always assured. What is it you need to know?"
"I've been tasked with finding a crystal. I've been told that an ex Imperial officer may be in possession of it. Someone called Gideon."
At hearing the name Reeba seemed to recoil, however she quickly recovered and, looking around to make sure no one could overhear them, she continued. "It is Gideon you seek ? My advice would be to keep clear of him. There have been rumours about him, trying to obtain a certain item..."
"A crystal ? Do you know where he is ?"
The Rodian shook her head. "No Mandolorian. Not a crystal. He seeks some form of biological entity. Other than that I have not heard anything about him. I do not know where he can found, I am sorry."
Din nodded his head "It was a long shot, thank you anyway."
As he started to walk away the Rodian spoke once again. "Where are you going Mandolorian ? You said you wanted informationn and we had not finished speaking...you mentioned a crystal. By any chance is it a dark crystal?..."
