Rouge was floating in complete darkness, oblivious to everything in the outside world. She freely allowed her thoughts to wander to whatever peaceful thought they pleased before she alarmingly remembered the cabin, waking to a hissing sound, thick green mist, then Shadow trying to lift her before collapsing to the floor and out of sight.

'Shadow?! Where's Shadow?!"

Alarmed and worried about the hedgehog and what happened to him,. the albino bat fought her way back slowly to consciousness. As she left the darkness behind, she became aware of things around her. The smell of strong disinfectant, a hard mattress under her, and the sounds of someone feverishly typing nearby. Her eyelids felt like they weighed a ton, but finally after much work, Rouge was able to open them, allowing herself to look around at her surroundings.

She found herself to be in a windowless room with only one door that was closed. She was laying on a mobian size hospital bed with her arms and legs strapped down to it, restraining her from even sitting up, let alone trying to escape.

The GUN spy sluggishly turned her head to the left to find a man in a nurse uniform sitting in front of a computer, completely unaware that his charge was now conscious. Rouge's eyes then moved to the only other thing left in the room.

Against the wall directly in front of her was a tall cylinder capsule completely filled with green liquid. Inside was a mobian who was obviously unconscious with an oxygen mask covering their face.

Rouge aqua eyes widened and her jaw dropped in absolute shock. Inside, floating with their quills softly swaying, was her fellow agent and friend, Shadow the Hedgehog. Though Shadow's face was mostly obscured by the mask, his crimson red stripes were unmistakable. In spite of herself, Rouge said her friend's name out loud, gaining the attention of the man sitting at the desk.

Mobian and human just stared at each other, neither one saying a word. After a moment, the man simply stood to his feet and walked out of the room, reclosing the door behind him.

'That can't be good.' The bat told herself. 'I need to get out of here and free Shadow before he returns.'

The world renown treasure huntress pulled on her restrains to no avail. She was still much too weak by the drug still flowing through her system. She became overly dizzy, forcing her to stop all of her movements. How was she going to save herself ans Shadow now?

Rouge must have spaced out because the next thing she knew, there were four bleary figures standing around her bed.

"Well, well, well. So, you finally decided to wake up, have you?" A deep cold voice mockingly asked, "I was beginning to wonder if you were ever going to wake."
The albino mobian blinked her eyes a few times to clear her fuzzy vision before she was able to make out the features of the four humans peering down at her.

A woman with her light brown hair up in a french twist and wearing a white lab coat stood at the bat's right near her head. Two man that looked to be identical twins were at her left. As the third man, who was obviously the leader, stood at the end of bed with his hands behind his back.

He was tall with short black hair and a mustache. He didn't wear a lab coat like his three companions or a nurse's uniform. Instead he wore a navy blue pinstripe suit with a red tie. His cold blue eyes and anything but friendly smile made shivers run up and down Rouge's spine.

"As if you would care if I didn't." The spy retorted as she glared at the man standing directly in front of her.

"True. It doesn't matter to me if you're alive or dead." The human cold heartlessly stated, not at all fazed by the bat's look. "Nor do I care about your friend over there." He threw a glimpse over his shoulder at the unconscious hedgehog in the capsule. "But, I have to tell you, you're both more useful to me alive than dead." He laughed, inwardly unnerving Rouge, though she kept it well hidden.

"Obviously that's why we're still alive then." The strapped down mobian replied, her glare never leaving. "Care to tell me in what way?" She inquired.

"That's for me to know and for you to never find out." The smiling man replied. "Take her." He commanded the other three humans before leaving the room.

As soon as the man passed through the door an assistant entered pushing a gurney. The woman was quickly dismissed by the three scientists.

The look alike men began to unstrap the bat's arms and legs as the woman went over to check on Shadow's vitals. Though her movements were uncoordinated and weak, Rouge still put up as much of a fight as she could against the two men that transferred her to the gurney, re-strapping her to it.

Once the female mobian was securely restrained, one of the two men pushed the gurney out of the room with the other two scientists following in tow. They went down too many halls and by too many doors.

Rouge could hear other mobians screaming and crying out, pulling on her heart strings. She longed to help them, to free them. But unfortunately, the bat was in the same predicament they were.

After going through the facility for what seemed like forever, they finally stopped in front of a large metal door. A sign was hanging above it that read "Section Four-AB". The woman walked up to the door pulling out her personnel key card from her lab coat pocket, swiping it at the scanner, successfully unlocking it. The reinforced double doors automatically opened, allowing the three humans and mobian to pass through before closing and locking.

Rouge got quick glimpses through each viewing window, allowing her to see the occupants inside the rooms as she was pushed down the corridor. Almost ever room had a mobian on a hospital bed with either glazed eyes, unconscious, or on a ventilator. It was painfully obvious that the humans here were responsible for their conditions. The bat wondered what they had planned for her.

The tough GUN spy could feel tears building in her eyes as she continued to be pushed by by the window after window. Mobians, young and old, male or female, the scientists here didn't seem to care who they were.

A single tear escaped, rolling slowly down Rouge's cheek. Her tear was not for herself nor was it for what awaited her in the nearing future, but for her fellow mobians that she was useless to help right now.

The albino bat was pushed through double swinging doors, leaving the halls behind, entering a large open floor room filled with about ten other humans.

For the first time since waking, Rouge allowed true fear to appear on her face. The humans in the room awaiting their arrival were dressed in surgical uniforms complete with mask and gloves. The room was an operating/examination room with all types of surgical and nonsurgical equipment. Monitors of all types and bright ceiling lights completed the room.

The man pushing her placed the gurney beside a metal exam table before joining the scientists that followed him there at the scrub sink preparing for 'who knows what' they had planned for the bat.

Four humans approached Rouge and began to unstrap her arms and legs getting ready to transfer her from the gurney to the table. The bat knew if she didn't escape now, she may never escape at all. And what about Shadow? If they found out he was the Ultimate Lifeform, Professor Gerald Robotnik's creation, there was no telling what they would do to him. She had to free him before they found out.

The treasure huntress waited until she was completely unstrapped before making her first move. The four humans had the bat in midair transferring her when she began to unexpectedly fight, catching them off guard.

Rouge twisted and pulled her limbs out of their grips, freeing herself. She attempted to fly out through the swinging doors but her wings could not bear her weight and she went crashing to the hard tile floor with a loud thud.

The spy laid there panting as the humans once again grabbed hold of her, but this time more securely, carring her back to the table. Rouge tried to fight but all her strength was gone.

They roughly slammed her down and began to restrain her to the cold hard top when the bat caught a glimpse of a person coming towards her with a syringe full of dark purple liquid. Adrenaline quickly spread through her system giving her the strength to free one of her bootless feet and kick the man holding it in the face, throwing him back. Someone hastily took his place and strapped the foot down.

Everyone backed away after they finished restraining the albino mobian down allowing the human with the syringe to get close. After tapping the syringe to make sure there were no bubbles in it, the human skillfully stuck a vein in the right arm, pushing all of the dark liquid in.

The sedative pushed into her quickly took effect, rending Rouge's body completely in the control of the humans. The only thing the bat still had any control over was her eyes.

Two humans came to stand above Rouge's head, pulling a small rolling table and machine with them. One of the humans grabbed the GUN spy's head, straightening and angling it to where they were able to see clearly down the throat. The assistant handed a laryngoscope to the scientist he was assisting who took it. The scientist placed into the bat's mouth carefully and painstakingly slowly pushed it down the throat. Rouge roughly gagged as the laryngoscope went farther down her airway.

Not at all caring about the mobian's obvious distress, the woman aimply grabbed the intubation tube handed to her and began to place it into the airway. Rouge slowly quit gagging as the tube was put securely in place and the laryngoscope was removed. The scientist taped the tube in place as the assistant hooked it up to the ventilator the pressed the red button, turning it on, forcing air in and out of the sedated mobian's lungs.

The ventilated bat's eyelids started to droop as anesthesia entered her lungs through the ventilator tube, quickly pulling her into an unconscious state. The treasure huntress fought the drug stubbornly, but the more she fought, the more anesthesia the humans pushed into her. Ultimately, the drug won as the albino bat's eyes finally closed and her body gave in unwillingly to forced sleep.
