I'm the King of the Vampires! Maybe!
Prologue Re-Vamped
A/N: Hey guys, I'm back from my very long hiatus. I remembered this fic after all this time, and after nearly cringing to death, I've decided to launch a full rewrite. It will be under this same story to prevent confusion, but the original prologue chapter will only be up for a single week before I take it down, so use that opportunity for whatever you want.
As I float weightlessly through the endless space around me, I once again question how long I've been here. Weeks? Months? Years? It all seems to blur together when I have nothing but my thoughts to focus on. Nothing ever seems to change in this weird plane I've found myself in; I don't even know if I still have a physical form or if I'm just a stray consciousness flowing through the void. Right as I was about to get lost in my own thoughts again, a voice reverberated around me, almost as if it occupied the entire space I was in.
"What is a human doing in my realm? I don't believe there have been any errant tears in space here lately." A moment of silence followed. I didn't know what to say; after all, I'd never had to come face-to-face with a disembodied voice before."You," It said, "how did you come here?"
The last thing I remember was reading a book before I found myself here; I don't even know how long I've been here." I said. "If this is your realm, is there any way you could send me home?"
"Unfortunately,"the voice echoed,"I am only capable of sending those who end up here to worlds of powerful origins, worlds most humans consider fictional."
"May I ask why?"
"You may not."
"That's a bit rude."
"Says the home invader." As the void was quiet once more, I realized what the entity had said earlier and spoke up, excited.
"Wait, can you really send me to a fictional reality?"
"I believe I made myself quite clear."
"Then could you send me to one of those worlds?"
"I suppose I am in need of entertainment since my ex changed her Netflix password."
"Alright," I thought for a moment, "then send me to Dragon Ball!"
"No, too boring."
"What about RWBY?"
"I may be starved for entertainment," the voice said, "but I still have standards."
"Damn, what about Digimon?"
"Okay, you know what? I'm deciding your world for you."The voice declares. "You'll go to a world of wondrous possibilities, where 80% of the population has superhuman powers."
"Did you just describe My Hero?"
"Yes, and since I chose your destination, I will let you choose your abilities and appearance. All you have to do is describe them."
"Okay then, I would like the abilities and appearance of Alucard from Hellsing Ultimate, with the only differences being silver hair and a more normal build."
"Silver hair? Really?"
"It's my fantasy; leave me alone."
"Very well, I should warn you that dimensional transport can be quite disorienting."
As soon as the voice quieted, the space around me started almost visibly contorting, shifting in ways I could barely comprehend, and my entire being started slowly unraveling, as if I were being funneled in every direction. I could feel my skin being pulled as far as it could from my muscles without tearing from me, and my muscles unraveling like strained twine beneath the thin canvas of flesh that was being manipulated by invisible hands. I opened my mouth to scream, but the sound was swallowed by the abyss, and just as it was becoming unbearable, I found myself returned to normal and in an empty parking lot.
"I do hope this human proves able to entertain me until I can steal the Netflix login back."
A/N: So this is the rewrite of the prologue. If you feel like it, leave a review to let me know if you like this one or the original more. I would appreciate the feedback! Hopefully this time around I can get more than a prologue out. I would also like to let everyone know that my beta-reader and co-writer blurryfaceexe is in the process of writing a Bleach fanfic called An Ode To My Shitty Laptop, which is currently on its 4th chapter as of today. Please give him a follow and a favorite if you like his story, if not, I really couldn't care less.
