Chapter 5

Sparring with Dareth - Part 2

It's been a few days since the last sparring session, and now Matt's ready to face Dareth again.

Matt holds his rusty spear and holds it in ready position, and then Dareth charges. Matt blocks every attack just like he did before.

While dueling, Dareth gave Matt some tips. "Tip number 1, you need to be both offensive and defensive, not too much of one thing or the other."

Matt took this advice and attacked Dareth, but he dodged.

"Not bad, kid," Dareth remarked. "Tip number 2, be patient. Wait for an opening to attack."

Matt and Dareth continued fighting each other. Matt spent each moment looking for the right time to attack, and got a little frustrated when he felt like that time would never come, but he still persisted, until eventually, he saw Dareth's arms getting tired. Matt used this to his advantage and disarmed Dareth.

"Congratulations," Dareth remarked. "You've beaten me. You're still far from being a professional, but it's a start."

Matt frowns a little bit, and Dareth notices this.

"I know you're worried about your friends," he said. "And I get why. But in scenarios like these, you can't just fix the problem right away. It takes time. Do you understand?"

"I do," Matt replied, before heading back to the basement.

Once in the basement, he looks at the photo he has of himself and his friends. A part of him just wanted to go out there and begin his search, but another part of him knew that Dareth was right, and he'll just have to wait.
