The spy that Yegor had in New York had gone to inform his old boss about the return of their prisoner to his original home. After seeing that the plane had belonged to Xanatos that time ago.

It was a big time for Brooklyn and Kita since Brooklyn proposed to the girl of his dreams. He decided that he, his brothers, and their girls should go out for a nighttime glide. Siveth especially wanted to go out to explore, and Kaori was willing to bring her with them.

The group all left the castle after breakfast, Goliath telling them to be careful.

Brooklyn took the lead since he was the second in command, his future mate gliding beside him. The couple looked back too to see Kaori and Lex gliding side by side, Kaori carrying the gar beast pup in her arms. Despite them not bringing Bronx they knew it would be too much to carry them both.

It was a beautiful night again, Siveth looking excited about seeing all of the big city at last, whining sometimes. Every now and then, they stopped to help whoever needed it, along with getting food from food stands.

But on another building close by, were some of Yegor's men about to set up a trap for their lost merchandise: Brooklyn. Yegor had returned to the US some weeks ago, plotting for revenge on that wretched devil. He told them to set fire to an old metal barrel on the roof to distract him.

"This had been great, Sister!" cheered Kaori after they had had another meal, enjoying this big city quite a lot. Kita smiled at her younger sibling, Brooklyn suddenly going in for a small kiss on her beak, making her giggle. It was the second best night since their proposal to each other.

Lexington, having been staring nonstop at Kaori the whole time was suddenly disturbed by a strange noise and a smell of smoke. His sharp eyes looked around to see flames on a building nearby, arousing his protective instincts. "Uh, Brook, look there," He pointed. The red gargoyle's eyes turned sharply, spotting the burning flames.

Kita gasped in horror at the sight. "We have to help stop the fire!" she said, starting to glide towards the flames, Lex and Kaori in tow. Brooklyn's eyes rounded a little from what was happening, not trusting what was going on thanks to his Second in Command instincts. He tried to grab Kita's arm. "Kita, wait, something's not right!" He yelled out, but too late as his group kept gliding down to the building, Siveth howling.

Groaning, rolling his eyes, Brooklyn quickly glided after them, to ensure they didn't get hurt. Upon landing on the rooftop, the group looked around for the fire until they found it; which was nothing more than a burning metal bin.

"Anybody else get that weird feeling that someone tricked us?" Lex asked nervously, looking about.

Brooklyn glared at him. "You think?" Right as he said that some smoke bombs came out of nowhere at them. Brooklyn and the others shouted out, green smoke shooting out from the bombs. Brooklyn felt himself beginning to cough, turning to Lex. "G-Go, get help, tell them…"

Lexington struggled to resist the gas, wanting to stay but knew he couldn't, going to glide away from there, tears in his eyes when seeing them collapsing, hoping he could rescue his new girl and the others with the clan.

Brooklyn sunk to his knees, seeing the other two females doing the same, Siveth already unconscious from the gas. He looked up weakly to see men in breathing masks coming close to them. "Have a good snooze, Devil. An old friend wants to see you…" mocked one, shooting a net. That was the last thing Brooklyn saw before he blacked out from there, the gas really getting to him, the others collapsing beside his fallen form.

….

Lex had glided back as fast as he could, his eyes rounded with fear at the idea of them having been ambushed. But they weren't Quarrymen this time, they were someone different. His wings were nearly worn out by the time he got back, seeing Goliath, Hudson, Angela, and Broadway having come back from their patrols.

The rest of the clan turned in shock when seeing an exhausted looking Lexington having collapsed onto the ground on the tower, looking quite stressed and panicked.

Hudson ran to the fallen smaller gargoyle, a hand on his shoulder. "What happened, Laddie? Where are the others?"

Lex had tears in his eyes. "C-came out of nowhere… sleeping gas… took… them…" Lex croaked and wheezed, his sides in pain. Hudson took him in his arms. "Save your strength. You don't look good." Lex nodded, tears in his eyes, letting the elder have him sit down to rest.

Angela's eyes widened in horror at the idea of her new female friends and Brooklyn having been kidnapped, Bronx next to her woofing in stress for his new friend Siveth, wondering why she hadn't come back. Goliath now wondered who would attack them. The Quarrymen obviously, but it just seemed too easy. He then remembered when Brooklyn had been stolen and taken to Russia. Could those people have returned?

"What do we do, Goliath? Brooklyn and the others need us!" Broadway said in worry, tail swishing. For a moment, Goliath thought, then suddenly had an idea.

"We can have Elisa track our missing members down for us, and the rest of the clan will help search too," Goliath stated firmly, now more determined than ever to find his missing Second. Brooklyn had to be found, since he had just proposed to his new girl and didn't want to lose him a second time. Broadway looked relieved to hear that, praying for Brooklyn's safety.

….

Meanwhile, in a strange warehouse, Brooklyn could feel himself slowly returning to his senses, groaning, wanting to rub his head but he couldn't, no thanks to the chains holding him up by his arms and waist. He struggled, looking about to where he was, seeing he was in a strange building that looked like a warehouse.

His eyes suddenly drifted over to a big cage near him, gasping at the sight of his future mate, Kita tied up in there along with Kaori and Siveth, calling out to them.

"Guys, wake up, wake up!" Brook shouted urgently in fear, struggling again despite the chains being gargoyle proof. Kita groaned, her eyes opening too, seeing the bars of her cage, and the sight of Brooklyn, her love tied up outside.

"W-Where are we, Brooklyn?" Kita asked in fear, trying to tear her hands out of her chains but they wouldn't budge an inch. Brooklyn didn't know, his heart thumping in fear, wondering if it had been the Quarrymen that took them, looking about for their enemies.

A sinister chuckling sounded at that moment, making Brooklyn swallow in fright, eyes glowing as he growled. From the shadows emerged somebody that Brook thought he wouldn't ever see anymore. It was Yegor! All the way here from Russia!

Yegor gave a predatory grin of satisfaction seeing his missing gargoyle prize chained up there like that, striding up close to Brooklyn, who struggled to keep away from the cruel man that took him away from his family. Kita and Kaori's faces were full of fear at finally seeing the one that harmed their friend, and to Kita, her future mate.

Brooklyn's breathing was fast and hitched up, struggling to look brave for Kita but it was hard when he could see the devil right in Yegor's eyes. The man got all too close now, taking his beak in his hands, stroking it. "Y…you…!" Brooklyn croaked in fear, stomach chilled up.

Yegor smirked. "Well, well, little pet, looks like I now have you back. How I have missed you. And I see your precious little friends there from Japan, too. But where is that other male? He needs to watch me torture you up before going home to Russia!"

The red gargoyle just glared, not wanting to reveal where his home was to this evil maniac, struggling. "I don't know! And you won't come anywhere near my family—!"

Yegor smacked his face roughly, not satisfied with the answer. "Shut up, filth! A muzzle will soon settle your dirty little mouth. But at least that other male friend will be able to lead the rest of you freaks here, and I can sell you all to make me millions!"

Kita pulled at the bars, feeling terribly worried for her true love, who was already looking bruised and terribly stressed there in front of his enemy, wanting to save him. "Stay away from him!" She yelled, making Yegor grin sadistically. "Hmm, a nice pretty face, I'm sure some of my male buyers would love to have you and you in their collections… a pretty female gargoyle."

Brooklyn's eyes glowed up white, baring his fangs at Yegor, threatening his future mate in such a way, yanking on his chains as much as possible, wanting to tear this man to shreds. "NOBODY… speaks to her… LIKE THAT!" He roared at the top of his lungs.

Yegor glared back, taking a taser, and shocking Brooklyn's belly. He sobbed in pain, the electric surges doing damage to his skin, hearing Kaori and Kita crying out for him, Siveth howling in distress. He hoped Lex would get the clan to rescue them all and defeat this guy.

Yegor stopped his tasing of his victim since he couldn't damage it too much if it lowered quality value. He just needed to make this creature be submissive to his rules again to be worthy enough to sell. Brooklyn looked up at him with weak eyes, as Yegor leaned in, making him flinch.

"I'm here for another reason too, not just for selling you, you pathetic thing. It is because you killed one of my top buyers, Yuri. All because he did away with the one who shouldn't have bought you in the first place. We found Yuri's body after you left. And it filled me with cold lust of revenge for you…" purred Yegor softly, drawing his knife. It made Brooklyn's ears fall in fright, seeing how sharp the knife was, and hating Yegor for insulting his lost friend, Sasha.

Kita's face paled in terror at the sight of the knife that this human would use to kill her future husband, wanting to get him out of there more than ever!

Brooklyn whimpered, pulling on his chains that hurt his wrists, Yegor snickering, using the knife to do a sharp scratch along his cheek, blood coming down his face. Tears of pain fell down his face, shaking terribly, Yegor studying the blood on his knife. Brook could feel the warm, sticky blood down his face.

"Call that a little reminder that you shouldn't cross me. And I also see your precious little tail has been fixed, how… disturbing. Perhaps I should've broken off one of your lousy wings instead!" He bellowed, placing the knife against one of Brooklyn's wings, making him yelp in protest, shaking his head, shaking nonstop from his new trauma of facing his old enemy, not wanting to be taken away from his home anymore. Kita and Kaori looked at each other in worry, afraid now for the sun to come because that could give Yegor the opportunity to smash said wing. And Brooklyn would never tell Yegor how he got his tail fixed either.

Brooklyn squirmed violently, feeling the stinging of the knife on his wing, scared to turn to stone again now that Yegor was around him, hoping that his clan would come soon to rescue him.

Elisa by now had managed to track where the criminals had taken Brooklyn and the others thanks to Lex's directions on where they were kidnapped. Bronx sniffed around when they stopped by the building, and caught the missing gargoyles' scents, woofing in a direction. Broadway picked him up and the group took off into the direction of the warehouse, praying Brooklyn wasn't dead yet.

While Yegor was taking in the pleasure in traumatizing his victim again, he was unaware of what was soon going to happen, relishing in the cries of his victim and the others, Brooklyn squirming more violently in his hold, blood falling down from his cut further. Then he got an idea.

"Men, untie him. I would like to take part in a fight with this one, see if he still has the bravery to face me. But no false moves, or you'll get my blade. Or even one of your little females will too."

Brooklyn felt confused and scared, as the men took off his chains, causing him to fall to the ground in a heap, Kita flinching from the sound of his body falling.

Brooklyn's body felt really drained from all this, hoping he could hold his own in a fight, struggling to stand. Yegor held his knife, sneering as the two of them circled. Brook's eyes glowed, raising his wings, baring his fangs, ready to tear this human limb from limb so he wouldn't have to worry about being taken away from his home ever again.

Kita gripped the bars of their cage, looking at him in desperation. "Don't fight him! Please!" She begged, tears stemming her cheeks, Kaori hugging Siveth for comfort. Brooklyn looked over to his female friends, a weak gaze on his beak. "I… I gotta, to restore my honor as a Second in Command, and to avenge Sasha further." The beaked female sniffled but nodded, while Yegor gestured with his hand, smiling tauntingly. "Well, c'mon, freak! Let's see what you're made of!"

Brooklyn snarled, teeth bared, then roaring as he charged at the demented auctioneer, tackling him to the ground. Meanwhile, the guards had taken the other gargoyles out of the cages to watch with a better view, holding them hostage and tying a chain around Siveth who whined, jerking around. Kaori tried fighting them off but it was no use.

Brooklyn and Yegor tussled with each other violently, the young male giving his rival a hard punch in the face. Yegor flinched but didn't back down, using his knife and scratching it across Brooklyn's chest but not enough to kill, causing Brook to screech and fall back off, collapsing to the ground. It was at that moment the door to the warehouse broke down; revealing Goliath, whose eyes were fierce and ready to murder who kidnapped their clan members, Hudson thinking it could've been the ones that took the young lad from before.

Yegor pressed his boot down hard on Brooklyn's chest, making the gargoyle strain in pain, eyes sometimes closing. He poked his knife against his neck. "Heh. I knew ya couldn't defeat me instantly. You're still a little pathetic demon with no real purpose in this world but to bring me cash."

Brook grinded his teeth, trying to get his hands in a good position. "I-I'm… not… pathetic… or… WEAK! Nor am I a demon! I... am... a GARGOYLE!" He bellowed, using his leg to kick at Yegor in the groin, the man shouting aloud, falling down this time, leaving Brooklyn room to be able to stand, tail swishing furiously, wings out, letting out a huge roar.

Yegor had never seen his victim like this, and it excited him, twirling his knife after getting to his own feet. Kita felt her heart flutter for both her love's safety and strength, truly believing she had found the right male for her.

A gun cocked in the background along with another gargoyle roar that sounded familiar. Brooklyn's eyes brightened in relief when spotting Elisa along with Goliath and the others. Kita and Kaori both looked at each other with a grin and stepped on their captor's feet making them shout and let go. Kaori went to save Siveth while the others charged at Yegor's men. Elisa pointed her gun at Yegor. "Freeze! You're under arrest for poaching the gargoyles here, and other animals! You will let Brooklyn go!"

Yegor froze at the sight of the gun but those didn't scare him, laughing insanely. "Nothin' to it, lady. I have business to take care of with him, which is this…" He then drew a gun. Brooklyn's eyes rounded in fear at the idea of being shot again. His family tried going for Yegor but Yegor pointed at them all. "None of you get close!" Yegor threatened, turning back to Brooklyn, who trembled. Goliath knew he couldn't make any false moves but it was hard to see his Second in danger of being shot.

Kita's heart ached for her love, seeing the man threatening to pull that trigger, and knew in her heart even if it meant sacrifice Brooklyn couldn't die. She narrowed her eyes, running towards the man, her eyes glowing red, roaring.

Brooklyn saw what was happening, gasping in horror. "Kita! Stay back!" He screeched but it was too late; she tackled Yegor which set off the gun, a loud bang echoing in the room, startling everybody there.

Yegor had collapsed unconscious giving Goliath room to grab him and tie him up, Elisa keeping an eye on the man but worried for the fallen female who was lying there, barely moving, blood coming out of her upper arm.

Tears flooded in Brooklyn's eyes, a choked sob coming out from seeing his future mate lying deathly still. He ran down to her side. "K-Kita!" He wailed, flashbacks of Sasha's death flooding through him, ignoring his own wounds while kneeling down, cupping her face in his. Brook nuzzled his love, the others watching in sadness.

"Don't leave me Kita… please… I love you too much!" He whimpered, giving a small kiss on her cheek. Elisa went over and looked at her wound, seeing she had only been shot in the upper arm. "It isn't critical, Brooklyn. But we need to get her home right away before the sun comes up to get the bullet out." She told him. That had Brook's heart flood in hope, happy that Kita wouldn't die, trying to carry her but then felt his own wounds get to him, falling down.

He also saw Yegor tied up there, growling, wanting to kill the man but Hudson put a gentle hand on the Second's arm. "He's not worth it, Laddie. The police will deal with this one. Let's just go home, you need to rest." The red male groaned slightly in weariness from his ordeal, nodding, allowing Hudson to help him, not sure if he could fly while Kaori took Kita in her arms to carry her home, Angela carrying Siveth and Broadway carrying Bronx after the two gar beasts reunited with each other.

Goliath offered to carry the injured Brooklyn, the clan ready to get out of this place and to get back to their castle home for good, Elisa remaining behind to take care of the men.

Brooklyn felt himself going into a light snooze while resting in his leader's arms, praying softly in his head that Kita would pull through the rest of the night, not wanting to lose another love like with Sasha all over again, letting the darkness take his mind.
