"I-okay," Leon said and waved for her to follow him to the cruiser.

He wasn't sure what inspired Amy's sudden trust, but there was no time to ask questions. He rushed over to the cruiser and opened the backdoor. He looked back at Amy, seeing that she was right on his heels. He signaled for her to get in the back of the car and she obliged.

"Leon, hurry up!" Rick yelled.

Hearing shuffling feet behind him, Leon looked back for only a second to see that from room fifteen's open door was emerging one of the infected. A tangled mess of dirty blonde hair swooped over her face as she looked towards the cruiser, alerting quickly to the promise of fresh meat. The infected was fast, running at him with an animal-like speed. He had to think quicker. He had to move quicker.

"Move over!" he said to Amy and she did as requested.

He jumped in the backseat next to her and slammed the door behind him. The infected was just on his tail, now slamming angrily against the glass of the window. Those same tendrils from the man at the Executive coming out of this one's mouth, pressing up against the window.

Carl climbed over to the now free passenger seat. Rick put the car into gear and drove back down the road.

Seeing Rick in front of him from behind bars brought back a long lost memory of being in the back of a cop car. Only this time, his hands weren't in cuffs.

A sense of claustrophobia struck him; he became aware that the only way out of the back of a cop car was if someone let you out. If something happened, if Rick crashed and died or was incapacitated, he'd be stuck back here with Amy until someone came along and let them out. If someone did.

He couldn't think about that though. He had to distract himself.

"So, from out of town?" he asked Amy.

"Yes," she replied. She glanced over at him, almost suspicious about the small talk amidst a big situation. "From Florida. My sister and I were on a road trip. We were both supposed to stay at this hotel, but I guess she was more interested in hooking up with some guy."

Amy had a bit of resentment in her voice with this statement.

"Well, it didn't end well for her- if that makes you feel any better," Leon said.

"What are you talking about?"

"Those people- the infected ones, well, it looks like the guy your sister was with was one of them."

"Oh my God," Amy gasped.

"She's fine though. Your sister is. Just worried about you is all. And shaken up from it. She's the one who… put him down. She had to. I'm sure she'll feel a hell of a lot better once we've got you back. I'm Leon by the way. That's Rick Grimes, his son, Carl."

"Thank you guys," Amy said honestly. "For coming to get me."

"I couldn't tell your sister no," Rick said.

Amy laughed. "She's a hard person to say no to. That's what makes her such a damn good lawyer."

"All of you need to listen to me when I say this," Rick stated, his voice turning gravely somber. "That means you too, Carl."

"Okay, daddy, I'm listening."

Carl wiped the fearful tears out of his eyes.

"When we get to the hotel, I need you all to do exactly as I say. Exactly. We don't know what we're pulling up into. The infected could have wandered onto the property, people inside could have turned. I need you guys to follow my lead. Explicitly. I'm going to pull up as close as I can, call my wife, and Shane will open the doors for us. We run in, we help them re-barricade the doors."

"We can do that Rick," Leon assured.

He looked over at Amy who nodded her agreement, her eyes serious and determined.

"These back doors-" Leon began.

"I'll open them for you. Just the one on my side. You both climb out quickly. Leon, you make sure Amy is out of there before you run."

"Of course."

"Carl, you go straight to your mom as soon as you see her," Rick said.

"Okay, daddy," the boy replied.

Rick turned the street corner, revealing the parking lot for the Executive.

What they saw ahead of them was one of the last things they'd ever wanted to see.

"Oh my God," Amy whispered.
