"Michael! Come here!"
"What is it?" 2LT Joseph rushed to where he heard Renamon's voice.
"It's Agumon. He was at the daycare with me." The lieutenant looked into the cage. It contained a short orange creature that resembled a tiny T-Rex.
"Hello. Are you Renamon's tamer?" the creature spoke.
"Yes, I am." The lieutenant pulled out his digivice and showed it to Agumon.
"Wow, a real tamer." He looked up at the lieutenant, enamored.
"Agumon, what happened? How did you end up here?" Renamon asked. The little dinosaur scratched his head.
"It is a long story. I haven't seen you since the attack on the daycare. A lot of things have happened since then."
"HELP!" a juvenile voice cried out. Agumon peered out from a pile of rubble to see one of his friends, Viximon, in danger.
"Too late for that. I have a lot of fun things in store for you." IceDevimon reached his long, out-of-proportion arm down to have his clawed hands grab the little fox.
"Not so fast! Howling Blaster!" A large beam of blue flames struck IceDevimon from the side, knocking him over. A large, white-and-blue, wolf-like creature followed the beam, pouncing on the knocked over evil-doer. Agumon recognized him as one of the daycare keepers.
"Garurumon! You saved me!" Viximon exclaimed.
"That's what he'd like to think." IceDevimon said. Recovering from the attack, he knocked the wolf off himself, turning the tables.
"Viximon! Leave now! Escape while you can!" Garurumon cried out before IceDevimon tackled him. IceDevimon began to choke him.
"NO! Garurumon! I will help you!" Viximon cried. She jumped up in an attempt to headbutt the evil creature, only to be swatted away by a flap of his wing.
"You are too weak, fur-ball." IceDevimon menaced. "I'll deal with you once I'm done with him." He indicated the helpless wolf in his grasp.
"Go…" Garurumon barely managed whisper out of his mouth. Viximon teared up, and quickly ran into the woodline, disappearing into it.
"I'll get you, like the rest of you fur-balls. More specimens for the collection!" IceDevimon yelled out after her. "Now for you." He turned back to the creature in his grasp. "Garurumon, you are far too soft. You may have been a worthy opponent if you weren't too busy trying to protect these little weaklings."
"They're… worth… it…" Garurumon struggled to vocalize.
"Agumon!" an urgent whisper went out. "It's time to go!" Agumon turned back around to see a large digimon resembling a woman mixed with flower leading a group of smaller digimon away from the daycare, towards the woodline. IceDevimon was too distracted by Garurumon to notice.
"I'm coming, Lilymon." Agumon whispered back. He rolled down off the pile of rubble and ran after the group. Lilymon grabbed Agumon when he got there.
"Agumon, listen to me. This is very important. You are the most mature of all the young ones. You must lead them to safety. Take the group to the woods; deep in the woods you will find digimon who will hide you from IceDevimon, those who resist him. You will be safer there."
"Aren't you going to take us there?"
"My place is here. I will hold him off."
"But Lilymon!"
"No buts, young one. This must be done." With that, Lilymon climbed to the top of the rubble pile. "Hey, IceDevimon! Flower Cannon!" She thrust both her arms out and formed a cannon out of here hands and fired, striking IceDevimon and knocking him off Garurumon.
"Come on, we have to go now!" Agumon whispered to the other young digimon.
"Lilymon! It's always good to see another friendly face. Care to join Garurumon in death?" IceDevimon quipped. Agumon rushed with the other young digimon to the woods, escaping a cruel fate at the hands of IceDevimon.
"After that, we hid in the woods. Sometimes we would run across friendly digimon who would help us out, giving us food or water and safe haven from IceDevimon. But our luck eventually ran out." Agumon explained.
"What happened?" Renamon asked.
"IceDevimon managed to find us with the help of the humans who run this facility. They captured us with his help. He is working with them on some project to change us into his minions. Some have already been turned."
"Wait, is IceDevimon here?"
"I don't know. He is here quite often, but I haven't seen him in a while."
"Michael, we have to find him. We have to stop him."
"Don't worry, Ren, we'll stop him." The lieutenant patted her on her back.
"I failed them, these digimon. I couldn't save them from him." Agumon lamented.
"We'll get you guys out of here, alright, son?" 2LT Joseph consoled.
"Lieutenant, I think I found a way to open these cages." CPL Ku interjected. "Come over here."
"Alright, I'm on my way." The lieutenant jogged over to the control panel CPL Ku was working on.
"Okay, so all these switches operate individual cell doors." The corporal gestured towards a panel filled with many identical switches. "This one here with the safety latch on top will open them all." He pointed at a larger covered switch next to the large group of switches.
"Okay, so open them."
"I can't, I need the key for this panel." He pointed at an empty keyhole. "The panel will not turn on without it."
"Okay, one of the guards probably has it. Search the bodies." The lieutenant headed to the guard lying against the wall, while the corporal started to search the one in front of the door.
"I got some keys here!" CPL Ku yelled out before 2LT Joseph even got to the guard on the wall. The lieutenant started to jog back.
"Alright, lets see if-" Behind the corporal, the lieutenant could see their prisoner grab something from the guard's body. "WATCH OUT!" The technician had a grenade in his hand and pulled the pin. Renamon and Veemon rushed back to see what the commotion was all about.
"GRENADE!" the lieutenant screamed. CPL Ku turned back to see the prisoner throw the grenade at their digimon partners. 2LT Joseph raised his rifle and put a round into the technician's head.
"LOOK OUT!" CPL Ku screamed.
The grenade exploded.
