Chapter 4: Wendy's Wonder

"Let me get this right." Sam said with a frown. "After the whole thing with the lumberjack's ghost, Wendy Corduroy wants to come to Amity Park of all places?"

"I find it odd as well, Sam, but yes." Danny answered.

"At least she already knows the truth so there's no risk of entrapment." Jazz commented.

Danny didn't bother to dignify his sister's comment with an answer.

A few days later, Danny was at a bus station waiting for Wendy to show up. It wasn't a long wait until she stepped out of a bus with "Speedy Beaver" written on the side. "Hi, Danny. Did you wait long?" She asked.

"No, Wendy." Danny answered. "Did you have a nice trip?"

"Yes, Danny." Wendy answered. "So, where are we going?"

"At first, I thought about going to Nasty Burger." Danny answered, shocking Wendy.

"Nasty?" She asked.

"Don't let the name mislead you, Wendy." Danny reassured his girlfriend. "Their burgers are tasty."

"Alright, Danny." Wendy said in conformity. "Anything to forget what happened back home."

"I don't think Amity Park is the ideal place for anyone to forget about ghosts, Wendy." Danny replied.

"Who said anything about…" Wendy then realized what Danny meant. "Oh, you thought I meant the incident back at Northwest Manor?" She asked and Danny nodded. "I meant something that happened later. I'd tell over the phone but, unlike Soos, I think it's too complicated."

"Who's Zeus?" Danny asked.

"The Greek God of thunder but I didn't talk about him, Danny." Wendy joked. "I was talking about a friend and coworker of mine named Jesus Alzamirano Ramirez, nicknamed "Soos" after how most people pronounce his given name. Anyway, I'll tell more at this Nasty Burger you speak of."

Later on, Danny was amazed. "So, are you saying the author of that journal Dipper Pines likes to carry around is the real Stanford Pines and was stuck in another dimension for the last 30 years?" He asked and Wendy nodded. She was taking a bite so she wouldn't speak. "And the guy you're working for is Dr. Pines' twin brother Stanley, who faked his own death so he could be free to impersonate Stanford?"

"Yes." Wendy answered, having already swallowed her last bite.

"And he spent all those years trying to figure out a way to restore Stanford Pines' portal?" Danny asked.

"Yup." Wendy said. "Wow, these burgers are really good."

"I wonder how sooner Dr. Pines would have returned had his brother told my parents about his portal." Danny commented.

For the first time ever, Wendy found herself wondering what kind of life Danny had. "What're you talking about?" She asked.

"My parents also made a dimensional portal, Wendy." Danny said. "I don't know about Stanford's but my parents' portal leads to the Ghost Zone."

"Cool!" She said. "May I see it? The portal, I mean."

"Really?" Danny was shocked. Not only he wasn't ready to let his parents spend more time with her but he was surprised the events at Northwest Manor didn't make her too afraid of facing ghostly related stuff.

"Yeah." Wendy replied.

"In that case…" Danny started saying until his ghost sense interrupted him. "Gotta go!" He exclaimed and ran.

To Wendy's amazement, a ghost wearing overalls showed up. "Beware, I am the Box Ghost, master of all things cardboard and square." The ghost said.

"Are you for real?" Wendy asked in annoyance.

"Unfortunately yes." Danny Phantom answered and he showed up. "Boxy, why don't you make things easier for us and leave so I won't bother sucking you into a Fenton Thermos again?"

"Whatever." The Box Ghost shrugged and left but not without saying another "Beware."

Danny Phantom left as well and Danny Fenton returned soon afterwards. After Danny paid for their meal, he and Wendy walked back to Fentonworks. "So, do most ghosts speak like the box one?" She asked.

"Among those I know, only him." Danny answered.

"Okay." Wendy replied. They then arrived at Fentonworks. "Already back, son?" Jack asked and then noticed Wendy. "What happened?" He asked.

"Mr. Fenton, your son told me about the Ghost Portal and I'd like to see it." Wendy answered.

"Well, both Maddie and I are around but stay out of it while there's none of us around to keep watch." Jack agreed.

"Okay, Mr. Fenton." Wendy replied and the Fentons showed Wendy the portal. "Impressive. I wish the real Ford Pines had let us see his portal."

"He has a ghost portal?" Jack asked in shock.

"Actually, it's a portal that can be set to several dimensions and I'm not sure if the Ghost Zone is one of them, Mr. Fenton." Wendy explained.

"Impossible!" Maddie explained. "A portal like that would require a Temporal Displacement Hyperdrive (line from the defictionalized Journal 3) and it'd take almost ten thousand years before human technology is capable of making one! And what do you mean by "real Ford Pines"?"

"Mrs. Fenton, I don't know anything about that hyperdrive you speak of but, there's something you should know about Stanford Pines." Wendy replied and explained all about the twin impersonation.

"Do you mean Stanford Pines isn't the one who opened the tourist trap?" Jack happily asked. "Awesome! Maddie, we must go back to Gravity Falls and meet the real deal!"

"I can talk to him and schedule a meeting, Mr. Fenton." Wendy told Danny's Dad.

"Thanks, Wendy!" Jack replied.

"Would you like some refreshments?" Maddie asked. "Or some fudge? We've just bought some."

"Too late, Mads." Jack sheepishly replied.

"I'll accept the refreshments, Mrs. Fenton." Wendy said to defuse the awkward situation. "Thank you very much."

"You're welcome, Wendy." Maddie replied, mentally pleased at Wendy's politeness.

After Danny and Wendy drank their refreshments, they resumed their date. "Wendy, how about that park?" Danny suggested and she agreed.

"Fenturd?" They heard someone ask and, to Danny's frustration, it was Dash Baxter. "Who's that girl with you?"

"Dash, that's Wendy." Danny replied in annoyance. "Wendy, that's Dash Baxter."

"I'm Wendy Corduroy, Danny's girlfriend." Wendy said and offered her hand for a handshake.

"Girlfriend?" Dash asked. "What happened to the goth?"

"Sam and I are just friends and that joke's running old, Dash." Danny argued.

"You have two friends named Sam, Danny?" Wendy asked.

"No, Wendy." Danny answered. "He's talking about the same Sam you met back in Gravity Falls."

"Really?" Wendy asked in disbelief. "Because I can't picture a goth dressing the way she was dressed back then."

"Her parents aren't very accepting of her dark tastes." Danny explained.

"Okay." Wendy replied and then noticed Dash's dog. "Nice doggie."

"Thank you." Dash replied.

"Dash, you know dogs aren't allowed here, right?" Danny asked his main tormentor.

"None of your business, Fentonio." Dash rudely replied.

"Maybe not but it's one of mine." A cop said while revealing himself. "And I already told you to keep your dog out of here after what he did last time."

"Back then it was a shapeshifting ghost impersonating my Pooky." Dash pleaded.

"Do you take me for a fool?" The cop asked, clearly not believing Dash.

"You may ask Fenton here." Dash replied while pointing at Danny. "His parents hunt ghosts so he knows what I'm talking about."

"I won't deny such a ghost exists." Danny said, making Dash relieved until he added "But I don't know if it really happened or if Dash's making a scapegoat out of the ghost like when a dirty cop tried to steal jewels and blame it on Danny Phantom."

"You'll pay for saying that, Fenton!" Dash replied while pointing at Danny, being too angry to remember there was a cop nearby.

"Threatening people in front of a cop?" The cop asked with a frown. "If anything happens to that boy, you'll be my number one suspect."

"For the record, officer, his name is Dash Baxter and mine is Daniel James Fenton." Danny said with a smile, knowing Dash couldn't stop him without getting caught.

"Shut up, Fenton." Dash ordered but reminded himself not to hit anyone in front of cops.

"And the both of us attend Casper High." Danny continued.

"Duly noted, Fenton." The cop said and then turned his attention to the bully. "Even if that ludicrous tale is true, dogs still aren't allowed here so take it away and, after that display of threatening another park goer, you'd better not return, dog or no dog."

"Yes, Sir." Dash humbly replied and took his dog away.

"I'll keep an eye at him." The cop told Danny and Wendy and left after the bully.

With Dash Baxter out of the way, Danny and Wendy resumed their date and only left the park once it was time for her to take a Speedy Beaver bus back home.

"Welcome home, Wendy." Manly Dan said as his daughter returned to their cabin. "Did Danny Fenton behave?"

"Like a gentleman, Dad." Wendy answered.

"Probably too much of a wimp to do any harm." Marcus commented. "So, did his sister ask about me?"

"Nope." Wendy answered.

"Anyway, I still would like to have a better look on that boy before I let you visit his hometown a second time, Wendy." Manly Dan said.

"I can talk to him about it, Dad." Wendy replied.

"Good." Manly Dan said. "Now, who wants pancakes?"

Back in Amity Park, Danny was playing Doomed with his friends. "Danny, are you saying Stanford Pines was stuck in another dimension for 30 years and his twin brother impersonated him through all this time?" Sam asked in disbelief. "That's too weird for me and I'm used to ghost attacks."

"Does Wendy have a twin as well?" Tucker asked with a smile. "What?"

"No time for jokes, Tucker." Danny said. "I just want to see how the Pineses will adjust to the real Stanford's return and the fact Stanley Pines is alive."

Their gaming was interrupted by a game avatar with an L on it defeating them again. "Ugh, who's that guy?" Sam asked.

"Maybe it's Mr. Lancer." Danny guessed and his friends laughed.

"Seriously, Danny." Tucker said. "To be that good, This L player must be some lonely guy with a low-paying job."

"Still could be Mr. Lancer, Tucker." Sam said and Tucker and Danny laughed at that.

Danny's cell phone then rang. "Excuse me." He said. "I must take this call. Hi, Wendy."

"Danny, my Dad wants to meet you before he allows me to visit your town again." Wendy said.

"Well, my parents wanted to return to Gravity Falls to meet the real Stanford Pines anyway." Danny commented. "My family will talk to yours to set a date."

"Good." Wendy commented. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything important."

"No, my friends and I had just finished a game of Doomed." Danny casually replied. "No worries."

"Okay, Danny." Wendy said. "Bye."

"Bye, Wendy." Danny replied.

"Tucker and I should go with you just in case another ghost attacks Gravity Falls while you're there, Danny." Sam suggested albeit her main concern was Wendy.

"Knowing my luck, it's likely to happen but I'd rather the rest of Team Phantom stayed here in case a ghost attacks Amity Park while I'm away and, Sam, I doubt your parents would allow you to go with me after your family's last visit to Gravity Falls." Danny argued.

"I'd like to meet the Oregon girls." Tucker said. "I mean, the Oregon sights. Oh, who am I kidding? Of course I mean the girls."

"I'll talk to my parents, Tucker." Danny replied.

Answer to Leonardo (Guest): Preston só se importa consigo mesmo e provavelmente seria estúpido demais para se render mesmo assim. Os Fentons só foram a Gravity Falls pelo Festival Northwest.

Answer to djinn (Guest): Thank you.
