Bartholomew Oobleck's interspecies interview
Case 1-1: Goomboss

Weapon of choice: Mistral style (Japanese) Oni Club (Named: HomeRun)

Magic Skill: Rage Within

Can only control buff up to level 2 in battle, any higher and he will become super violent, lose self-control, and become unable to recognize allies. [It worked the exact same way as his Mario 64 DS and Mario Kart DS behave function, and the power increase in times, x1(default) x2(Rage 1) x4(Rage 2)]

Semblance: [Yet to discover]

Interviewer: Dr. Bartholomew Oobleck.

Respondent: Goomboss (Broun Kuri)

[Start of the record.]

? ? ?: "Test test 123, test test 123… and… excellent, the recorder is working as intended. Alright!"

Oobleck: "Ahem! It's so nice to have you here for my interview. Mr. Goomboss."

Goomboss: "Well, it's not like I had much of a choice, stuck here in a different world, plus, you were rather persistent about this research of yours, both vocal and action. So, the sooner I let you interview me, the sooner I can enjoy some peace and tranquility."

Oobleck: "As an enthusiastic researcher and historian, I take pride in my line of work and the importance our work contributes to the world, with utmost seriousness I may remind you."

Goomboss: "Sure, whatever sails your boat, let's get this over with."

Oobleck: "Right, so, let's begin with your species, ahem. Mr. Goomboss, according to the words I picked up from between you and your companion, you're a species known as Goomba back in your home universe, is that correct?"

Goomboss: "Yes, although not just a normal Goomba, I'm the king of the Goomba, the grand pooh-bah Goomba. That is why I'm named Goomboss. Cause I'm the boss of all Goombas."

Oobleck: "Yes, so I have noticed. Were you perhaps part of some special bloodline of royals of your own species?"

Goomboss: "Negatives. The Goombas don't have royalties or specific special bloodlines. I was titled with my name and promoted by my lord as the leading figure for my species."

Oobleck: "Interesting, titled and promoted, as if in the manner of electing?"

Goomboss: "Something like that, but more like earning the right for the position in most situations for my other species companions. The burden of titles is earned by one's own efforts & power, that's the rules of our world. You must prove that you could live up to the name if you want a title."

Oobleck: "I see… Interesting, and what about inheritance? If you were to step down from your position, and happen to have a descendant that can take your place?"

Goomboss: "They would need to prove they're worthy of the name first before that happens, if I do end up having descendants, and they turn out to be unfitting for the name, then I will hand it over to someone worthy of the name."

Oobleck: "I see, earning the right for the position as you just mentioned."

Goomboss: "Yeah, being the leader, you're not allowed for failure. I'm sure you Huntsman can understand the importance of this rule."

Oobleck: "Not just a title one carries into battle, but a badge one wears constantly. A similar idea, how interesting."

-x-x-x-x-x-

Oobleck: "Alright, now moving onto the next topic, the trait of Goomba. Are there any important outstanding features I should record?"

Goomboss: "The number advantage would be the first to come into mind, we Goombas operate as a legion, the reason being that we Goombas are physically weak due to the way our gene is constructed, but that doesn't mean we're doomed to stay weak or fragile, we can still train to become stronger, but it would require much more efforts than other species, but in general, teamwork has become an essential requirement for Goombas to survive, you usually don't see a Goomba operate in solo as we're always in group or two at minimum."

Oobleck: "Like a wolf pack I see. Fascinating."

Goomboss: "There's that, however, despite the weak physical we were born with, us Goomba are very adaptable. History records have shown Goombas have been spotted & encountered in almost all types of terrain in our world, while many sub-variants & sub-species have emerged well-suited for various environments."

Oobleck: "Just like mankind, but more in the animal family tree fashion, Intriguing… Can you give me some detail on the difference between the sub-variant of Goomba?"

Goomboss: "Well, There are some Goombas that choose to live in dark and harsh underground environments, this causes them to have their skin turn blue, and gain night-vision due to living in darkness for their entire life, we call them Gloomba. You know, caus they're gloomy fellows. And then there's Hyper Goomba."

Oobleck: "Hyper Goomba?"

Goomboss: "Uncivilized Goombas that lived in wildlife, instead of becoming socialized like the rest of our kind, they remain as the savage primal animals, although there's some that manage to adapt to the civil life, those are usually rare cases. Anyway, Hyper Goomba had spent most of their life hunting and surviving, their body condition had always stayed hyperactivated in the top condition, thus the namesake. The defining trait is their green skin, and the massive power boosts their signature Hyper Charge they could use in battle."

Oobleck: "Hyper Charge? I assume it is a form of magic that could grant one a power boost in combat, no?"

Goomboss: "Correct, although, unlike my Rage Buff, their Hyper Charge is only temporary and can only last till their next attack, but a massive strength boost regardless."

Oobleck: "Next attack?"

Goomboss: "Think of it as a damage bonus multiplier power, the Hyper Charge will boost up the damage of the next attack you unleashed."

Oobleck: "I see, very interesting indeed. Any other sub-variant you want to mention?"

Goomboss: "Well, there's Bone Goomba, Goombas that lived in the dark and gloomy areas with the tribal culture tradition of wearing the head skull of the passing Goomba family member as a mask; and Headbonk Goomba that dedicate their lifestyle to honing Headbonk attack; and there's the Paragoomba, Goomba that gains magical wings that allow them to fly."

Oobleck: "Magical wings?"

Goomboss: "Yes, this is the stuff we called Power-up, magical items that grant people certain aspects of powers, fire, ice, thunder, flying. You get the idea."

Oobleck: "Marvelous, so, judging by your word, depending on the power-up in use will result in different sub-variants then?"

Goomboss: "Correct, but back to the topic, the wings on the Paragoomba are sort of permanent and temporary power at the same time."

Oobleck: "Ho? How so?"

Goomboss: "Well, Power-up in our world is an openly shared property, it is accessible to basically anyone, but how much power one could draw entirely depends on how the person wields it performs, it's an extra power source that stays as long as the user had enough strength, but if the user were to get damaged while using the power, depends on the scale of the harm, the power may be knocked out from the user body, thus permanently losing it. Although, in some rare cases, there are magic spells that grant people wings, so anyone who obtained the spell could grow or disable wings at their own command."

Oobleck: "I see, so a Paragoomba may lose its wings and become a normal Goomba. But their wings can be regained if they re-obtain that power-up, correct?"

Goomboss: "That's about the idea."

Oobleck: "Very interesting, well, that seems to be enough examples on the sub-variant, let's talk about the sub-species shall we?"

-x-x-x-x-x-

Goomboss: "Sure, the first sub-species of Goomba that comes to mind would be Galoomba. A sub-species that resembles a chestnut-core instead of mushroom-like like the Goomba. Then there's Goombrat, a sub-species that resembles persimmons."

Oobleck: "Chestnut-core and persimmons?"

Goomboss: "If you were wondering how we looked like that, need I remind you that our world is magical? And, we still haven't solved the mystery of our genes."

Oobleck: "Fair point. Would those be all the sub-species?"

Goomboss: "Well, there's also Burrbo, a distant sub-species of bipedal creature that resembles unpeeled chestnut, as they have spiky burrs over their body."

Oobleck: "Another species that resemble chestnuts? Interesting."

Goomboss: "That's all I can think of at the moment, if I do have left out, I'll send you notes later."

Oobleck: "Okay, then, let's talk about yourself."

Goomboss: "Sure, what do you want to know?"

Oobleck: "Hmm… What differentiates you from a normal Goomba?"

Goomboss: "What different? Welp, for a starter, I'm much bigger than any normal Goomba back in my world, my size is easily on par with a Mega Goomba, and as for my power, I could buff up my strength and size, and unlike Hyper Goomba's pre-move charging, my charge is a lasting effect until I deactivated it."

Oobleck: "I assume that the size of a Goomba is viewed as a symbol of power?"

Goomba: "Not entirely true, but the hardness of the head also plays an important factor in determining the authority."

Oobleck: "Understood, and I also assume your own skin color turning into orange & red is the direct result of this magic skill move's effect."

Goomboss: "Correct. This signature move will double my own strength by multiplying factors. And well… stage two is currently the maximum I could handle, any higher, and I'll lose control of myself and go berserk, and in that state, I won't be able to tell who's foes or allies."

Oobleck: "I see, a backlash-like drawback, anything else aside from this power multiply magic skill?"

Goomboss: "That would be the head bonk you're looking for."

Oobleck: "Head bonk? As in headbutting?"

Goomboss: "Yeah, hardhead is one of the defining features and primary fighting methods of us Goombas, despite having the quantity as an advantage, the hardness of our head is what carries us far in the passage of surviving. Even an infant Goomba's head holds the hardness comparable to an iron's."

Oobleck: "Hard like iron? Incredible. But I take that there's more to that?"

Goomboss: "Dang rights, if a Goomba trains hard enough, they could reach the hardness of diamond. I would know that cause I'm a living proof!"

Oobleck: "Astonishing! What fascinating biology. Then, since we're on the topic of biology, what is the usual diet of Goombas?"

Goomboss: "Diet? We're Omnivore, the same could be said for many other common species in our world since most of us are already sentient species. Although some still keep Carnivore & Vegetarian diet."

Oobleck: "I see, then, is there any noticeable behave that only Goomba does that other species don't?"

Goomboss: "Mmmm… that would be… polyandry."

Oobleck: "Polyandry?"

Goomboss: "Well, the female ratio to males of Goombas is usually 1:10, males take the most of the population. We commonly refer to the female Goombas as Goombette, the distinguishable identification of a Goombette is their skin is pink instead of brown like male Goomba, thus making them easy to be identified. And since the numbers of ladies are low… we males compromised a polyandry system to share the love. Better share than fighting and getting rejected because we act like dumb and horny savages. Although, overstepping boundary flirting problems would still occur here and there every now and then. Because some morons treated the ladies like a piece of meat."

Oobleck: "I see… I see, what a development!"

Goomboss: "While we're still at it, we Goombas gave one courtship behavior you wouldn't see from other species. The Goomba stacks."

Oobleck: "Stacks? As in stacking up?"

Goomboss: "Correct, while it originated from the cooperation behave in order to reach high place objects like fruit grow on the trees, since a Goomba alone is too short to do that, by stacking up like a tower, we can perform many acts we normally can't via cooperation."

Oobleck: "A rational and logical behave, but I guess there's more to that, right?"

Goomboss: "Yes, well, it's classic folklore among Goombas, a story about why we have polyandry relationships. It starts like this, there's once a clan of Goombas, made by a group of Goombas and one Goombette, they were basically childhood sweethearts that lived together since the beginning, inseparable."

Oobleck: "Mmmhh."

Goomboss: "Then, as time goes on, they reached adulthood and become adults, and was then confronted by the burden & duty of marrying and settling down. But since there are 9 boys to 1 girl, competition sure took place, it soon got heated and fierce, and shortly after, out of control.

The Goombas all wished to one-up others and win the heart and right to marry the Goombette, but their fierce competition soon becomes a routine of daily-like harassment to the Goombette, the girl was torn between the decision to pick one, she likes all of the Goombas, as families, but to pick only one means she will hurt the others feeling.

One day, the pressure and stress got so bad for the Goombette, that she ran away from the village in need of some time-out to sort out her feelings, and, when her brain finally calm down. she somehow got stuck in a high place that she's unable to get off, scared, stressed, and tired, the Goombette decides to take a nap and hopes the fuss will be over by the time she wakes up.

The disappearance of the Goombette was soon picked up by the Goombas, and they each went out to search for her, of course, they were focusing on saving her first to claim the right to be with her rather than her safety.

Soon after, they found the damsel in distress, but the place she was stuck was simply too high for any of the Goombas to reach. They each tried a different method to get her down, various Power-Ups were used, but none worked of course, and none of them tried to work together.

The situation lasted for quite a while, the Goombette was stuck in the morning, and now it's almost night, yet no progress was made. To simply put, everything was wrong, and the Goombas feels like such a failure…"

Oobleck: "But I take the story didn't end there. They reached a compromised ending, didn't they?"

Goomboss: "Yeah, after spending the whole afternoon wasting their eagerness and energy, they were able to chill out and finally think rationally, and they believe this entire marriage business had done nothing but tear them apart, destroying their long-time friendship.

They sat down and talked, opening their hearts to the others, and found out they all hold genuine feelings for their Goombette friend and wish for her happiness as the top priority. But it was obvious that this whole ordeal had done nothing but bring her pain and sadness.

In the end, they decide to simply work together and rescue her from the high ground. And then let their maiden friend choose who she wishes to spend time with for the rest of her life. No longer pressuring her.

Unbeknownst to the Goombas, the Goombette had woke and heard their heart-to-heart conversation, the nine of them finally put aside their desire, which brings great joy to the girl, but that joy soon turn into panic, because the boys had made their decision while she had not.

Memories of their times during childhood resurface in her mind, and each memory only seems to make the Goombette more heart-aching. She just couldn't bring herself to reject any of the boys' feelings, is there really no other way to give everyone a happy ending?

It was then the answer seemly clicked into the Goombette's mind, with a grateful thank to the star, the girl made her decision, no longer hesitating, the Goombette spoke her mind.

"I wish to marry all of you!" Said the Goombette, as the Goombas was just about to reach her in as a Goomba Stack. This shocking revelation had, quite literally, thrown off the Goombas, as the stack fall apart due to the shock.

But once the boys understand what happened, they laughed, cheered, and cried, their friendship was not only kept, but had become stronger through this ordeal.

Soon after that, words got traveled around that of a happy Goomba family, a big family."

Oobleck: "(Clapping rapidly)Wonderful, simply wonderful, what a beautiful story!"

Goomboss: "Eh, it's just a folklore that was created to teach Goomba teens to know their boundaries and action when it comes to seeking a mate."

Oobleck: "Still, a good story nevertheless!"

Goomboss: "Welp, anything else you want to know?"

Oobleck: "That seems about to be enough for today's session. We can continue adding more details the other days."

Goomboss: "Of course, you wouldn't be satisfied… Alright, whatever makes you happy."

Oobleck: "Again, I must thank you for your cooperation."

Goomboss: "Yeah, yeah, sure. Can I go now? I got trainings I need to do."

Oobleck: "Of course, then, I look forward to our next talk."

[End of the record.]

Oobleck's note:

Goombas are a fungus-based sentient species capable of speech and intelligent thoughts. (Note: It appears they also have subspecies that resemble more closely to a chestnut, or in some cases resemble a persimmon, but the majority population is the fungus-based Goomba).

Body:

A Goomba is a short creature that resembles brown shiitake mushrooms with two stubby feet, with no arms. Goombas have large faces that occupy most of their mushroom-cap face, while their stems-body attach their heads to their feet. A defining feature is their black bushy eyebrows that form a furrowed brow. They also have two upward-pointing fangs in the oral that resemble vampire-like fangs. (Note: However, their skin color may change depending on the living environment.)

Despite the lack of arms, Goomba are capable of many activities, able to pick up and use various objects for daily activities, construction work, vehicle driving, underwater diving, and even sporting. And apparently, despite the lacking of physical limbs, thanks to the magic energy they refer to as "Flower Points" (FP for short.) resonating inside them. Goomba was able to use this telekinesis-like power to pick up objects. (Note: The maximum distance of their grabbing range is apparently their own body length. In contrast to a human and their arms. This same trait applies to all sub-variant & sub-species.)

Sub-Species:

Galoombas are a chestnut-core-based sentient sub-species of Goomba, capable of speech and intelligent thoughts.

A Galoomba is a short creature that resembles brown chestnut-cores with two stubby feet, with no arms. Like Goomba, Galoomba has large faces that occupy most of their spherical face, unlike Goomba with a stem-body attached to their head, Galoomba does not have the stem-body, their feet are directly connected to the head, thus making their round sphere face also their body. A defining feature is their face has two colors, the brown that covers the most area, and the small yellow circle that indicates where their mouth is, their eyes are located directly beside each other, and unlike the Goomba who possessed eyebrows that formed furrowed brow, Galooma's eyebrow is short and doesn't furrow all the time. They also have two upward-pointing fangs in the oral that resemble vampire-like fangs like the Goombas.

Goombrats are a persimmon-based sentient sub-species of Goomba, capable of speech and intelligent thoughts, unlike the sharp fangs Goomba possessed, Goombrat's fangs are dulled and square.

A Goombrat is a short creature that resembles lighter brown persimmons, a stem-body with two stubby feet, and no arms. A defining feature of Goombrat is that they shared more semblance to the Goomba, have wider eyes in a scowl instead of eyebrows in a scowl, and the black stems on their head are similar to persimmon leaves, additionally, their teeth point down and have a curved shape, while regular Goombas' and Galoombas' teeth point up and are sharp.

Goombos are perhaps the closest member of the Goomba family tree, and bear the most resemblance to Goomba's appearance, minus the iconic black eyebrows that the Goomba has being the only difference between the two. Goombos are only spotted in a land called Sarasaland.

And there's the Octoomba, the most fascinating sub-species of the Goomba family tree, a distant family so distant, there's barely any resemblance they shared with any of the Goomba family. Octoomba can only be found in the sky above Mushroom World, as they lived in the cosmo system. Despite the drastic difference, Octoombas stay true to the 'omba' class family, they have a similar physique to Goombas. Yet their bodies now resemble closely to Octopus, blue skins with several yellow spots, and they have small snout-like mouths which they use to spit rocks. Octoombas have antennae on their heads, and three rounded feet. They use these feet to hop from side to side to move. They have sunken eye stock and glowing eyes, and the shape of their brows is set in a scowl. (Possibly to intimidate nature prey.)

(Note: While the mystery behind Octoomba is still yet unsolved, perhaps it is because of the drastic environmental changes and extreme living environment, and possibly diets, the Goomba that lives in the cosmo evolved into Octoomba, and since their space has many self-sustained planetoids, each with their own unique ecosystem, Octoomba has developed many sub-variants too.)

(Note: it appears there is also a mixed breed between Galoomba & Goombrat called Goombud. A creature that has the Galoomba's body but has the facial of Goombrat and persimmon-like head-leaf. But they're extremely rare.)

(Note: There's also the final sub-species of Goomba, the Beanie, although their relationship to the Goomba is debatable at the moment, as the Beanies are endemic species that originates only from a place known as the Bean Bean Kingdom. Where most species in that land resemble beans in many sorts of ways.)

Sub-Variant:

The sub-variant of Goombas ranges in various kinds, mostly depending on the living style, living surroundings, and special Power-up in the use.

Mini-Goomba: tiny versions of Goomba. (Not to be confused with Infant/Micro Goomba.)

Mega-Goomba: giant versions of Goomba. (Depending on the size, the noun describing them would change. Big, Mega, Grand, Giant.)

Gloomba: Goombas with dark skin that lives in a no-light and damp cave-like environment, can be easily found or spotted underground.

Hyper Goomba: Goomba with greenish skin that lived in wildlife areas and keeps the primal predator instinct.

Bone Goomba: Goomba with tribal tradition that wears skulls as masks.

Spiked Goomba: Goomba that wears a spiky helmet to avoid being stomped on. (Note: they're still the normal Goomba underneath the helmet. Variants like Gloomba and Hyper Goomba can become Spiked-Goomba too.)

Paragoomba: Goomba that flies with the use of magic Wings. (Note: Variants like Gloomba and Hyper Goomba can become a Para-Goomba too.)

Shoe Goomba: Goomba that wears a giant green-colored boot with a wind-up key sticking out of the back of it (The shoes being twice their body size). Magic shoes that are resistant to sharp spikes, and the ability to jump high, the shoe is apparently a transportation tool used among the Goombas.

Tail Goomba: Goomba that uses Super-Leaf that grants the user a Tanooki-like tail that has short distant flying magic and fluttering down ability. (Note: There's also a big variant of Tail Goomba.)

Tanoombas: A Tanoomba is a Goomba with raccoon ears, a raccoon tail, and a leaf on its forehead. (Apparently, a look that is taken on from ancient folklore, or perhaps the result of Tail Goomba evolved through having the Super Leaf Power-Up embedded into their genes.) Tanoombas are also slightly larger than most normal Goombas.

Tanoombas have powerful mimicry abilities and are able to shapeshift into different objects and different creatures as a means to defend, protect, lure & hunt, or hide from predators. (Note: the Tanoombas in mimicry can always be told apart by the raccoon-like tail features or the leaf on the head that remains intact after their transformations.)

Gritty Goomba: A Gritty Goomba is a Tribal-like Goomba that took residents and adapt to desert environments, they're mostly known for the mummy-like cloth they swathed in, donning a pair of sunglasses, and the spear with a colorful red flag that protruding from the top of their head. (Note: they seem to have a rank system, as there're high rank Gritty Goomba that's called Elite Gritty Goomba.)

Chuboomba: Obese Goomba that got bloat up due to the unhealthy diet they live with, although chubbier and slower than normal Goomba, their defense where stronger than one might expect, thanks to the fats that now act as the second layer of protection underneath the already harden skin. (They're usually spotted with a giant lollipop in their possession.)

Choomba: Giant Goomba that lives in the deep underground that resembles a kind of giant, metallic, locomotive-type Goomba, they have coal-black bodies, red eyes, yellow-glowing pupils, and a chimney on the top of their heads. And they do perform running actions that resemble an actual train-like locomotive. (Theories suggested that they might come from evolution through having the Metal Mushroom's magical Power-Up embedded in their genes.)

Gromba: Gromba is Goomba that are sheltered in blocky rock-like armors, they're usually spotted in old ruins that have been deserted and abandoned. Their stone-armor appearance is perhaps a behavior to simulant themself to blend in with the environment.

Prickly Goomba: Prickly Goomba is Goomba that hides in spiked chestnut shells, this variant truly living up to the namesake of chestnut, alias known as Kuribo for the Goombas; yet irony, the sub-species Galoomba are the species that actually resemble the look of chestnut core the most. (Note: Galoombas do have Prickly Galoomba sub-variant exist.)

The final important note is that Goomba's apparently have the strongest physical traits compared to all other sub-species, a Goomba's head is apparently the most sturdy part of their whole body, and a trained Goomba head can smash open a boulder twice or trice of their body-size with relative easy.

Here we are with my first side spin-off chapter for Age of Koopa, consider it as RWBY Chibi stuff, but it actually provides lore, headcanon, and plot-related stuff (in some minor way, very minor way.)

This whole idea was basically me who wants to write something that's like RWBY Chibi, as a filler spin-off to the main fic plot, but my deadass brain refuses to downright write an RWBY Chibi clone. So this is the result we get from my brainstorming.

Since this whole crossover is about RWBY & Super Mario, I see no reason to not implement some basic & deep Mario lore stuff in as I'm building this story on top of RWBY Lore, and what better way to do so than by letting our earnest PhD-ed Doctor do his own research journal on said topics? So here we are, the spin-off called Bartholomew Oobleck's Interspecies Interviewing. BOII for short. (Pun entirely intended. I'm a genius.)

This might be the most interesting fiction chapter I ever wrote. Mixing headcanons from two distant franchises isn't the strangest thing you can do on the internet, but to make a headcanon that can totally blend in with the actual official lore or world style? That is where the fun parts lie.

And I gotta be honest, I originally only intended for this spin-off to be a Mario Trivia complimentary for those RWBY fans reading this crossover that aren't as enthusiastic, dedicated, or knowledgeable on their fair share of Mario Lore so they may be able to keep up with what I'm referencing, especially when the quantity of Mario Lore is massive thanks to all the games and spin-off with all the constant adding, expanding & on-going world-building of the franchise.

My absolutely proudest moment in this chapter would be the headcanon for the female Goomba, the Goombette, aka, the female Goomba from Super Mario Odyssey that you have to use Cappy to possess a Goomba in order to get Power Moons.

I originally didn't even think about including topics like species sex and gender, but as I was checking every Nintendo-approved Goomba that was greenlighted into the final product, I can't be helped but keep going back to Goombella from Paper Mario: The Thousand Years Door. The well-known female representative Goomba who had pink skin instead of the brown we all know Goombas for.

Then, I remembered the actual First female Goomba, Goombaria from the first Paper Mario, and her mother, Goomama, and both are also Goomba with pink skin.

It then hits me, the female Goombas that are basically a one-timer Mario OC all somehow magically shared the same skin color? And there's like only three confirmed female Goombas in basically the whole Mario game list.

And after about a decade later since the Paper Mario franchise is not allowed to create more unique NPCs from pre-established species as the devs said in an interview.

Super Mario Odyssey, out of nowhere, put a female Goomba in the game called Goombette, that somehow chose pink as skin color again, where for most of the encounters, you, the player, had to gather at least 1 Goomba or more in order to get the Power Moon, and the name of the Power Moon you get from Goombette is actually openly named "Love in (somewhere-somewhere)", when in most case the situation is multiple male Goombas courting a Goombette. Which I take as a polyandry relation suggesting. (Which, knowing Nintendo when it comes to sex & gender topic in their games, they love to make it as ambiguous as possible and would never admit or deny the playerbase's speculation in this age of era. Unless the ones from the cooperation department have something to say.)

And also, according to the in-game situation, there are two Goombettes that exist in the Sand Kingdom area, which suggests that Goombette is not an individual name, but rather a title name for female Goombas, this fact is also later proved by the trivia infoa in the official Nintendo licensing Super Mario Odyssey Game Guide.

It made me realize that there is a pattern there, and then the headcanon automatically clicked in my brain when written this chapter.

And here we are, female Goomba are rare among the Goomba sex, and polyandry relation is natural for Goomba as a species to ensure reproduction. Headcanon lore that makes sense in so many ways.

P.S. Don't take any of these too seriously.
