By early summer, Harry and McGonagall managed to get Sirius a trial after replacing Scabbers with a real rat at the last minute. With Andy's help, they were able to hire a lawyer to take Sirius' case. They contacted Susan's aunt, Director Amelia Bones of the DLME, to check the records of Sirius Black's arrest and conviction (of course, there was only one arrest document). Thanks to this, Sirius was transferred to another cell to await trial. They wanted to make sure no one tried to have the trial annulled. Harry was at the Grangers' during his godfather's trial, as they didn't want Dumbledore to see him, who still believes Harry is at his aunt's house. McGonagall always makes sure that he believes his plans are not disturbed. It was she who came to announce the excellent news about the court's decision.

"Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Granger, I'm here for Mr. Potter," the teacher explained after knocking on the door.

"Yes, of course, how are you Professor?" asks as Mrs. Granger goes to fetch Harry. Professor replies that she's doing well.

"Hello professor!" says Harry and Hermione smiling, returning from the back yard.

"Good morning, Ms. Granger, Mr. Potter. I have very good news for you." says McGonagall, looking at Harry.

"Oh yes?!" asked Harry, knowing full well about the nature of the visit.

"Today was the trial of your godfather Sirius Black, he was found not guilty of the crimes for which he was 's currently in for some time, Azkaban hasn't been very kind to him." she reports.

"Really, my godfather is free ! GREAT! When can I visit it?" exclaims Harry enthusiastically.

"Well, Andromeda is planning to visit it tomorrow. You can ask her to go with her" replies McGonagall.

"I'll call her," agrees Harry.

"Ah yes, I forgot to mention that the man who falsely accused has been sentenced to Azkaban for life. Director Bones has also opened an investigation into Mr. Black's unlawful imprisonment" McGonagall finally says.

"Thank you Professor McGonall" replies Harry

"Goodbye" says Harry, Hermione and her parents to Professor McGonagall.

The next afternoon, Harry and Hermione waited in the back yard for Andromeda to arrive; she had agreed to pick them up to visit Sirius in hospital. The home was not yet connected to the system, so they would have to go by apparition. Once at the hospital, the three head for the reception desk to get the room number. The receptionist tells them that Sirius is on the second floor, room number 412. Arriving at the room, Sirius can be heard flirting with the nurse who's taking care of him so he can leave the hospital for good.

"Andy, what a lovely surprise to see you! Are you here to free me ? Tell the gorgeous nurse that I'm fine and can get out of here." Sirius exclaims as he sees Andromeda in the doorframe.

"Sorry about him, he was dropped as a child," Andromeda tells the nurse.

"It's no problem Mrs. Tonks, I'm used to it by now" replies the nurse with a smile

"Sirius, I'd like you to meet your godson Harry and his friend Hermione Granger. Harry is currently staying with her for the summer" says Andromeda, placing the two in front of her.

"Oh Harry, you look so much like your father, but with your mother's eyes. I'm so sorry I wasn't there to raise you, I should never have left you." Sirius said with a sad look on his face.

"Hi, Mr. Black." both children reply.

"No, don't call me Mr. Black. I'm not my father. Call me Sirius or better call me Padfoot. So tell me who you stay with when you're not at your friend's house... Her...mione" asks Sirius.

"Okay Sirius, the eleven years of my life I lived with my Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon." begins Harry

"WHAT! You were never supposed to go there. I'm sure the Longbottom family, Andy or Minnie could have taken you." says Sirius with indignation and frustration.

"Then I met Hermione on a school outing and we became best friends," Harry continues.

"When I first met Professor McGonagall, I informed her that my friend, who I was sure was also a wizard, didn't have a very loving family. I asked her if there was anything she could do. I gave her Harry's address" Hermione continues the story

"I got the surprise of my life when I saw the professor at the bottom of the stairs yelling at Aunt Petunia. She had apparently been spying in her cat form the day before." continues Harry

"Why didn't she check up on you before that?" asks Sirius, concerned.

"Dumbledore erased the address from her memory, but thanks to Hermione, she had the information again. She then took me to Gringotts to read my parents' will and change my legal guardian" finished Harry.

"Sirius, Minerva explained to me that Albus is paying an unhealthy amount of attention to Harry. He still thinks he's living with those horrible people. So don't say anything about it," says Andromeda.

The three end the visit by promising Sirius they'd be back. Andromeda takes the two youngsters back to Hermione's parents and heads home.
