Alright, this is the final, final. I know a lot of you have probably read the last chapter and have been guessing just what that means for our dear Lucy and Adrien and so I wanted to get it out as soon as possible.

Ironically enough it still took me quite a bit of time as it ended up being longer than I expected it to be. I think it's a very big mix of cheesy and heartwarming but also very comedic and borderline unhinged. It's also a lot longer than I planned so that's cool! Are you ready?

Sunlight gleamed in Adrien's eyes as he opened them causing him to squint and groan. His hand quickly went for the small window to his left and slammed it shut, blinking a few times to gather his bearings.

"Good morning, sir, can I get you anything?" A woman asked. "Some coffee or perhaps some breakfast?"

Adrien looked up at the flight attendant whose dark chestnut hair was pulled into a slick bun, allowing him to properly take in her lighter, yet still matching eyes and freckle dusted face.

"Coffee would be great actually. Thank you." As the flight attendant walked off to get his coffee, Adrien looked to his right shoulder at the dark haired girl sleeping against him. He shrugged his shoulder lightly.

"Marinette," he said, tapping her. "Wake up. We're almost there."

Marinette's head shot up as if startled by being awoken. Something Adrien had learned over time was the norm for her. She gave a dazed look around before her eyes landed on the shoulder she had been face planted against, her eyes widening and a high-pitched squeak coming from her throat as she examined the drool mark she had left on him.

Quickly, Marinette tugged at her sleeve and attempted to wipe away the remaining dampness while apologizing profusely. Adrien only chuckled at her. Even after all this time, Marinette still carried this nervousness around him. When they were in high school, it had taken him a long time to get her to act normally around him, but then they graduated, and shortly after getting accepted into design school, his father had offered Marinette to join the internship program with his company.

Now, it was as if sometimes they were back to square one. Apparently working for his father, gave Marinette the sense that in a way, she was working for him too. That wasn't at all the case, and Adrien had tried his best to make it clear but still, from time to time, he would watch the clumsy girl fall back into the old habits of acting like they hadn't known one another for the past six years.

"Here you go sir." The flight attendant spoke, holding out a small cup of coffee.

"Gah!" Marinette shouted, startled by the woman's sudden closeness, knocking the coffee out of the woman's hands and all over herself and Adrien.

"Oh! Shoot! I'm so sorry!" Marinette apologized to Adrien and the attendant.

"I'm the one who should apologize, I didn't mean to sneak up on you, mam." The attendant spoke, pulling out some napkins, trying to help clean up the mess.

"I mean, if it's any consolation, the coffee did do its job." Adrien said with a smile. "I am very awake now."

The attendant offered another apologetic smile as Marinette buried her face in her hands and groaned. "Why am I like this?"

By the time they had landed, both Adrien and Marinette had cleaned up and were more than ready to get off the crowded plane. They headed towards the baggage claim for their flight number with many others who had been on their flight only to find the disbursement of luggage had yet to start.

"There is a café just over there," Marinette pointed a few yards away. "How about I grab us the breakfast that my half-asleep antics earlier prevented us from getting while we wait."

Adrien took one last look at the conveyor belt that had still yet to start cycling before giving her a nod. The pair headed over, finding a small free table to put their stuff at.

"Anything specific?" Marinette asked, pulling out her wallet.

"Surprise me." Adrien said with a smile. "After all, we both know nothing this place has to offer will measure up to delicious baked goods of Tom and Sabine Dupain-Cheng."

"And don't you forget it." Marinette shot with a wink before heading to get in line.

At the feeling of his phone buzzing in his pocket, Adrien pulled it out and smiled hitting the answer button.

"Hey, mom."

Lucy's neck cracked as she tilted it side to side. God, she hated flying. To make matters worse, her head was still pounding from the altitude, something that no matter how much gum chewing and yawning she did, never seemed to leave her be. Of course, this had only been the beginning of it, as she still had another seven-and-a-half-hour flight ahead of her.

After getting her bags, she downed a few Ibuprofen pills and looked at the time. She still had an hour before her next flight which fortunately gave her meds some time to kick in while she decided on a bite to eat. Ugh. Airport food was always so expensive. But she knew she could get a lot more in the airport than anything she would get on the plane.

Spotting a small café that luckily didn't appear overly crowded in comparison to a few of the more well-known establishments, Lucy headed over, her luggage wheeling behind her. She got in line, ordered what seemed like a pretty good size bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich, a sweet tea, and headed over to one of the open tables to sit and eat at.

The summer had come and Lucy was happy for the break from school. She had gotten into a psychology program back in the fall and much to Lucy's dismay the work load had doubled in comparison to High School. Through the entire year Lucy had to remind herself that the end goal would be worth it, even if she had a few more years of education and a mountain worth of homework to get to it.

Now she was heading overseas to finally meet a friend she had met online almost two years ago. It was technically a half way point for them both being that originally the girl had been living in Japan. Looking at her phone, the time read a quarter after 8, which meant it a little after 3pm there. Scrolling through her contacts, Lucy hit call. The phone only rang twice before a voice picked up on the other end. Lucy smiled.

"Hey Kagami."

Once upon a time, there lived a boy and a girl. They were just an ordinary lonely boy and an ordinary lonely girl, like all the others. But they believed with their whole hearts that somewhere in the world there lived the 100% perfect boy and the 100% perfect girl for them. Yes, they believed in a miracle. And that miracle actually happened.

As Adrien hung up his phone call his eyes danced over to Marinette who finally seemed to be getting up to the counter. He glanced behind him. The conveyor belt had still yet to start. Adrien sighed. How long was this going to take? Skimming the area around him, Adrien people watched. So many coming and going to different places for different reasons all around the world. It was almost weird when he thought about it.

His eyes paused when they landed on a woman a few tables away talking on the phone. She had short, dirty blonde hair, dark green eyes from what he could tell from his distance, and probably one of the most dazzling smiles he had ever seen. She was dressed comfortably in a light blue tank top, black yoga pants, and a pair of black Toms. A suitable outfit for someone who was traveling via plane.

Her phone call was short, hanging up, she placed her phone down on the table. That was then their eyes met.

"I love you, remember that."

Adrien blinked a few times and the woman furrowed her brows. He wasn't sure which plan was worse, acknowledging that he had been staring at her, or turning away and pretending as if he wasn't. With the flip of a mental coin, Adrien smiled and waved at her causing the girl to raise an eyebrow but wave back. He didn't know this girl, but he did find himself wanting to.

"Coming or going?" He asked, trying his best to not look like a complete pyscho.

"Going." The girl Answered. Bummer. "You?"

"Coming. Just waiting for bags." He answered, gesturing the conveyor belt behind him that had finally started passing out luggage. The girl gave him a nod.

"Welcome to New York."

"I'm Adrien, by the way." Adrien introduced himself awkwardly. The girl grinned and let out a snort.

"Uh...Lucy."

Yeah, uh, sorry. Hi, I'm Lucy."

"Adrien." The blonde greeted with a grin.

Lucy physically flinched a little. A strange sense of déjà vu coming over her. Had they met before?

"Where you headed, Lucy?" Adrien asked. Lucy raised her brows at him.

"Why? You gonna stalk me?"

Adrien's smile flipped over as he waved his hands at her. "No! No, of course not! You don't have to tell me!" Lucy laughed at his sudden flustered state.

"Easy. I was just kidding. I mean, I suppose you could be a crazy person, but then again, so could I, so there is that." Lucy said with a shrug. "I'm heading to Paris actually. And given your accent, I think it's safe to assume that you're from there."

Adrien's wide grin returned. "I am. Have you even been before?"

"Nope, first time."

"Well, it's beautiful. I'm sure you'll love it. Traveling alone?"

"You see," Lucy said squinting at him with a pointed finger. "It's questions like that, that circle back to the stalker thing."

Adrien held up his hands in defense. "I promise I am just making conversation. In my experience I just feel that it is much more enjoyable to see and experience new things when you have someone to see and experience them with."

Lucy nodded, accepting his answer and smiling. "I'm meeting someone there."

Adrien couldn't help the feeling of disappointment that threatened to expose itself below the surface of his skin. "Meeting someone in the city of love? Lucky guy."

"Lucky girl." Lucy corrected. "But it's not like that."

"Okay! That was a far bigger hassle than I had been expecting." Marinette announced as she placed the tray of food and beverages on the table. "These croissants better be worth it."

"Probably not in comparison to what you're used to." Marinette's head turned to the woman a few feet away.

"Marinette, meet Lucy. Lucy, this is my friend Marinette."

"Nice to make your acquaintance." Lucy said with a small wave. Marinette looked between the two before smiling.

"Same to you!" She said. "I'll have to apologize for Adrien if he said anything weird while I was away. He doesn't get out much."

"Me?!" Adrien gasped. "Between the two of us you think I'm the weird one?"

"It's not your fault," Marinette teased. "You've had a very sheltered life up until recently."

"Aw," Lucy gave a playful pout. "Did mommy and daddy keep their pretty princess locked away?"

Adrien rolled his eyes. "Pfft, whatever." The girls laughed and although annoyed, Adrien couldn't stop the way the corner of his mouth moved upward.

"Nah, I'm being a little dramatic." Marinette admitted, waving her hand dismissively. "But he was homes school for most of his younger years till his mother finally convinced his dad that public school would be good for him. He was a little awkward back then, but he grew out of it for the most part."

"I would hope so." Lucy commented. Marinette's eyes shifted to behind Adrien and widened.

"Oh! I think I see my bag!" She shouted, running over to the belt, tripping on a chair in her way in the process. "I'm okay!" She said once she was back up, dashing over to the luggage.

"And I'm the weird one." Adrien added with a smirk, making Lucy laugh.

"You're cute." And the compliment, as simple as it was, seemed to make Adrien's ears burn.

"You think I'm cute?" He asked dumbly. Catching herself, Lucy could feel the heat in her own face rise.

"I think you're..." Adrien trailed off. Beautiful. Breathtaking. Like the person in a Greek myth who makes one of the gods stop caring about being a god.

Lucy cleared her throat, growing more and more embarrassed with every passing moment that Adrien looked at her.

"What are you guys in New York for?"

"My father is a fashion designer-"

"Of course, he is." Lucy smirked.

"And I model for him during the summer."

"You're a model?" Lucy asked with an open mouth. "Wow. Okay."

Adrien chuckled. "Sometimes. I used to do it for him all the time as a kid but as I got older it just wasn't really my scene anymore. Still, I end up helping him out from time to time. I'm one of the faces to his brand so..." He gives a shrug. "He's, my dad. He's letting me peruse my own things so I don't mind doing a photoshoot here and there."

"Would I have heard of him?"

"Maybe, he's pretty big in the fashion world. Gabriel Agreste."

"Not ringing even, the smallest of bells." Lucy admitted. "But to be fair I know absolutely nothing about fashion."

"Don't let anyone in Paris know that." Adrien grinned.

"Oh yeah? That a crime there?"

"To some people."

As the two smiled at one another it felt like something had clicked for the both of them. It was impossible to describe, really. They just met and yet, it felt like something important was happening to them.

They were not lonely anymore. They had found and been found by their 100% perfect other. What a wonderful thing it is to find and be found by your 100% perfect other. It's a miracle, a cosmic miracle. As they sat and talked, however, a tiny, tiny sliver of doubt took root in their hearts: Was it really all right for one's dreams to come true so easily?

"Adrien! Your bag!" Marinette called out, grabbing the model's attention.

"Crap, I should-" Adrien started, looking between Marinette and the food she had placed on the table.

"I'll watch it. Don't worry." Lucy offered, earning a thankful smile from Adrien as he jogged over to Marinette. She looked at her phone to read the time and sighed.

"How do you know which path is the right path?" Lucy asked.

Daniel let out a large exhale of breath as he thought of his answer. "It's not really about right or wrong. Every path is the right path. Everything could've been anything else and it would have just as much meaning."

"Got everything?" Lucy asked when the pair made their way back over, their luggage being pulled behind them.

"Seems like it." Adrien answered, reclaiming his seat. Marinette followed, taking the seat on the opposite side of him.

"Good!" Lucy said with a tight lipped smile. "Well, uh, I should probably head out to my terminal now. But it was nice meeting you both!" She said, getting up and tossing her trash in a nearby bin.

Adrien felt himself tense at the words, though he wasn't sure why. This was obviously an interaction with a means to an end. He was coming and she was going. Sure, she was headed to Paris, but it seemed evident to him that it was a vacation. She was meeting a friend. The odds of her being there once he got back were slim, and the odds that they would casually run into one another again even slimmer.

Marinette watched curiously at the two individuals before her. Both seemed hesitant to part but neither brave enough to suggest anything different. She had seen Adrien with women before. Seen him grow into an occasionally shameless flirt over the years in comparison to the shy polite boy he was when they had first met. But there was something different in the air this time. A strange electricity that both parties seemed to notice but were willing to test just how strong it was by pulling away.

"It was nice to meet you as well, Lucy." Adrien spoke.

They should never have undertaken such a test, because they really and truly were each other's 100% perfect lovers, and it was a miracle that they had ever met. But it was impossible for them to know this. The cold, indifferent waves of fate proceeded to toss them unmercifully.

Lucy offered one last smile before heading off in the direction of her flight. An odd stinging in her heart showing itself with every step she took. Perhaps there was another life that she might have had, but she was living this one.

Adrien couldn't quite put his finger on it. Why every inch of him seemed to be calling out to the woman walking away from him. He tried to remember how this happened—how she went from someone he'd never met to the only one who mattered in what felt like seconds.

His parents never talked about how they met, but when Adrien was younger, he used to try to imagine it. He loved how much they loved each other. It was the thing he thought about when he woke up scared in the middle of the night. Not that they loved him-they were his parents, they had to love him.

That they loved each other. They didn't have to do that. What are the chances you'd ever meet someone like that? he wondered. Someone you could love forever, someone who would forever love you back? And what did you do when that person was born half a world away? The math seemed impossible.

It was like their lives were overlapping lines, like they had their own gravity. That serendipity thing felt like the nicest and worst thing the universe had ever done for him.

Until one beautiful April morning, in search of a cup of coffee to start the day, the boy was walking from west to east, while the girl was walking from east to west, but along the same narrow street. They passed each other in the very center of the street. The faintest gleam of their lost memories glimmered for the briefest moment in their hearts.

"You mentioned how your father keeps you on a pretty locked up, but I figure one day that wont be the case and as soon as that day comes you'll wanna hit the road. Go out and see...everything I guess. So that's a little photo booklet to keep all your adventures in."

"A few days ago I met a girl sitting alone on a park bench and decided I wanted to try and be her friend."

"Why?"

"Because she looked like she needed one."

"Go home Chat Noir."

Chat straightened and gave her a grin. "Would it be weird to say I kinda feel like I already am?"

A small laugh escaped Lucy. "My apartment feels like home to you?"

"Not the apartment."

"You must understand why I might prefer-"

"A sexy lifeguard?"

"You." The pair answered together. Lucy raised another brow and Adrien froze, internally scolding himself for not being more mindful of his word choice.

"Careful there, pretty boy," Lucy smirked. "Keep it up and I might begin to suspect you have a bit of a crush on me."

"The truth is pure and simple: I'm Adrien Agreste, and Chat Noir, and I love you with every fiber of my being and I can't go another day without you knowing it."

"I love you, remember that."

Each felt a rumbling in their chest. And they knew: She is the 100% perfect girl for me. He is the 100% perfect boy for me.

Adrien jumped slightly as Marinette swatted his arm. The longing stare he had on his face from the moment Lucy had left the table had officially gotten on Marinette's nerves.

"Will you just go get her number or something already?!"

Adrien stood from his seat swiftly. "I'll be right back!" He said before running off in the direction Lucy had gone. By now she was out of sight and Adrien had to follow the signs for flights leaving for Paris. From what he could tell, there were three options. All leaving at similar times, but Lucy hadn't mentioned anything about the exact time she was supposed to leave, nor anything about the airline she was traveling with.

One in three chance. That was what he had. The depart times though different, were not nearly far apart enough for him to get to all three. He had to make a choice and hope that it was the right one. Deciding to head to the flight that would take off the soonest, Adrien started sprinting, doing his best to avoid running into anyone along the way.

Before he knew it, he could see the sign for the flight he was searching for. People were already gathering into a line to get on board as Adrien scanned the faces to find hers. His eyes lit up as he caught a glimpse of a shoulder length blonde head handing in her ticket and making her way down the hall to the plane.

Perhaps, if he had been a normal guy in a normal situation he would have called it quits. She was passed the ticket gate, it was a lost cause. But every part of Adrien screamed that it couldn't be over. Call it fate, or destiny, or pure luck, he wasn't willing to let this one time altering moment pass him by.

He ran across the waiting area, hopping over a few rows of seats and with as much politeness as possible pushed past the random people who got in his way before stopping at the ticket collector.

"Excuse me sir!" Adrien spoke with urgency, his breath still try to catch up. "I need to get on this plane."

The man looked at him with a raised brow. "Then I need to see a ticket."

Adrien shook his head. "No, you don't understand. I don't plan to actually ride the plane. A met a woman, she just got on. I think she might be the love of my life and I need to make sure that I can see her again!" He explained.

The ticket collector gaped at him. "The love of your life?"

Adrien nodded. "I think so." The man put fist to his mouth and gave Adrien a choked up look.

"I have been waiting my whole life for a moment like this. This right here-! This is why I do it! Go on son!" The man said stepping to the side.

Adrien's eyes went wide as a smile stretched across his face. "Really?! Thank you so-"

"No, not really!" The ticket collector shot, his choked up look now replaced with one of utter disbelief. As if he couldn't imagine anyone being so stupid. "This ain't no fuckin' romcom! Now back your ass up and get a ticket or get the hell outta my face."

"Sir, please I just-"

"Motha'fucka, I'm not losin' my job over you, feel me? I need this health insurance."

Adrien paused, looking between the man and the hallway. The man shook his head. "Don't do it Frenchie."

"I'm sorry." Adrien said before shoving his way past the ticket collector and racing down the hallway. It was in this moment that he realized how much of a crazy person he was about to look like, knowing that by the time he got to Lucy, he was sure security would be right-

"Freeze!"

Have you ever been electrocuted by a tase gun before? Up until now, neither had Adrien. 0/10 Would not recommend. His body convulsed as he fell to the ground with a heavy thud.

"Lu...Lucy..." He breathed as the intense feeling of electricity left his body. His eyelids grew heavy and the last thing he could remember was the feeling of hands, hoisting him up by his arms while his legs dragged across the floor below him.

But the glow of their memories was far too weak, and their thoughts no longer had the clarity of fourteen years earlier. Without a word, they passed each other, disappearing into the crowd. Forever.

"Wakey wakey, sunshine." A gruff voice called out. Adrien groaned as his eyes adjusted to the light. His whole body ached as he sat up from the bench he was on. Where was he?

"Airport detainment center." The security guard answered the question he apparently asked out loud. "You're lucky kid. Daddy must be some kind of big shot. Now get out."

Adrien cursed under his breath; they had called his father. Great, he couldn't wait to have that conversation. When he got out and into the hallway, Marinette stood waiting for him. She let out a sigh of relief upon seeing him.

"Have you lost your mind?"

"You said to go after her." Adrien pointed out which made the dark haired girl beside him huff.

"I said try to get her number, not follow her onto a plane! Did she see you? Because if she did, she probably thinks she dodged a bullet."

"I appreciate the vote of confidence."

"You got tased by security, Adrien." Marinette deadpanned. "It' doesn't make for a great last impression."

Adrien sighed. "Well, it doesn't really matter anymore does it. She's gone."

"I'm sorry." Marinette spoke softly, placing a hand on his shoulder. Adrien patted her hand and gave a small smile.

"Just wasn't meant to be. Come on. Let's get to the hotel."

"A sad story, don't you think?"

"Man, how could I ever top that," Lucy said sarcastically. Chat rolled his eyes.

"That was a story of two people losing their soulmate. My mother told me that story when I was twelve years old and I thought it was the most tragic thing I ever heard!" Chat exclaimed, crossing his arms in a huff. Lucy laughed and shook her head.

"Yeah, I'm definitely not telling you about these then." She said referring to her scars.

"Nothing can be as bad as someone losing their soulmate. How about I guess. Bad car accident?"

"I have to respectfully disagree. And no."

"Well, hopefully, you never have to experience that and see how right I am."

The End.

So originally the ending was a little different. In it, Lucy remembered everything because she stays in the burrow while the changes of the past and future are made. She ends up running into Adrien, but he has no idea who she is, and although a part of her yearns to change that, she doesn't. They make eye contact, Adrien is curious about her, but she's gone before he can do anything about it. To me it was a good bittersweet ending.

Then I was rereading this story, seeing just how much proofreading I should have done, and I came to chapter 24 and thought how cool it would be to use that story as almost a foreshadowing situation. Which is what got you the ending above. To be honest, it still changed as I wrote it. Becoming a little more unhinged as I thought about the cheesy airport chase scenes we see in the movies.

HOWEVER. I can see the comments already. "God no! Please don't let it end like this!" And I hear you. So, for your enjoyment, below is a continued variant/ alternate ending. I hope you enjoy and remember to tell me which you liked better!

Lucy jumped in her seat at the sound of who she assumed was a security officer shouting "Freeze" and a large thud from the hall the lead onto the plane. She leaned slightly out into the isle with a raised brow.

"What the hell was that?" She asked aloud.

"Some guy tried to force himself onto the plane." A older man answered as he waited to get to his seat. "Was yelling on about chasing after the love of his life or some nonsense."

Lucy's brows shot up. "Wow."

"Yeah, security came and tasered him. Guy crashed to the ground. It was awesome."

Lucy tried to hold back a smile. A part of her felt for the guy, that is, if he really was doing it all for love. But the odds are he was just a guy trying to get a free plane ride. This was New York after all. A part of her was bummed she missed it.

When Lucy arrived in Paris it was almost midnight and she scolded herself for not leaving the night before to try and avoid some jetlag. She texted Kagami when she got to the hotel was as she said she would, knowing not to expect a response. Lucy took a shower and changed into her Pj's, making her way over to the balcony. It was small, but better than most hotels she had been to before with windows that only cracked open due to hotels fearing their customers making the big leap.

Her break grew a little shaky as her hand gripped the railing. Her fear of heights still something that seemed to haunt her through her adolescence into adulthood. She closed her eyes and focused her breathing just like she had been told to do over and over again. She was fine. Everything was fine.

Fuck you, Arnold.

Her eyes opened as she took in the nighttime lights of Paris. No. She wouldn't let him ruin that view.

In my experience I just feel that it is much more enjoyable to see and experience new things when you have someone to see and experience them with.

Pulling out her phone, Lucy wondered back inside the room and fell back on the bed. She scrolled through her contacts as her foot bounced with slight anxiousness. It had been so long since they last spoke. But maybe Adrien was right. Kagami wouldn't be able to spend everyday with her. She still had an over bearing mother to please after all. Maybe it was a sign to reconnect. As she selected the name, her fingers danced across the keyboard to form one simple sentence.

I'm in Paris.

Three weeks later...

Adrien gave a big stretch while he and Marinette waited for the car to come and pick them up. It had been a long and busy couple of weeks, making both of them happy to be back in familiar territory.

"I just want to crawl into my bed and sleep for the next three days." Marinette moaned. "This jetlag is going to be the death of me."

"I can't wait to get home, sit on my couch, and play mind numbing video games for the next 24 hours." Adrien declared. Marinette gave a small laugh while shaking her head.

"You're such a child."

"And you're a grandma."

Marinette rolled her eyes. "Let us remember who dominates who in most video games?"

Adrien scoffed. "Yeah, thanks to your lucky charm."

"I gave you one!"

"You gave me a fake one that doesn't work!"

"Actually, it works great, you just suck that bad."

"Are you challenging me, Dupain-Cheng?" Adrien asked and a raised brow.

Marinette gave a nonchalant shrug. "I'm just stating the facts."

"You can walk home." Adrien said, crossing his arms as Marinette laughed beside him.

"Can I go home now?"

Chloe sent Lucy an annoyed look as she continued to shift through the clothing items on the rack. With a sigh, Lucy plopped down on a nearby armchair. During her first week in Paris, Lucy had decided to reconnect with and old flame by the name of Nikolas. She knew that he had moved to Paris a year or so prior after graduating culinary school. The two hadn't spoken in a long while after their breakup and Lucy had thought it might be time to change that.

Although Lucy had not gone in with any expectations, she couldn't help but find herself surprised when Nikolas walked up to her, hand in hand with a young woman named Chloe.

It wasn't the fact that Nikolas had a girlfriend that really surprised her. If there was one thing he knew about Nik, it was that he was flirt by nature. But Chloe was...something. She was a rich heiress whose father had been Mayor of Paris for the majority of her life till he finally decided to hang up his hat in the political world two years ago.

Apparently, he now spent his time running his grand hotel and finding young independent film makers to invest in. Chloe was thin with platinum blonde hair and a set of striking blue eyes. You could tell just by looking at her that she was used to getting her way, and lord help anyone who opposed it.

Nikolas had told her that he and Chloe had met at an event he was catering, and that although she tried to play it off as though she had no interest in giving him the time of day at first, he found a way to win her over with his natural charm.

Now, Lucy was stuck in a boutique while Chloe searched endlessly for the right dress for Lucy to wear to her birthday bash. It was her big 21st and in her very Chloe fashion, she was pulling out all the stops. Everyone who was anyone would be attending, and it was imperative they looked their best. Lucy had remarked that she didn't bring anything all that fancy with her, as she had no plans to go to any socialite events and then as if it was her sworn duty, Chloe insisted on helping her find the perfect outfit.

Six hours, four stores, and twenty-seven dresses later, Lucy was about ready to pull the trigger.

"HA!" Chloe shouted, making Lucy jump. "This is the one! I just know it! Here!" Chloe shoved the dress into Lucy's arms and shoved her into the dressing room. With another deep sigh, Lucy nodded. Okay. One more. This has to be it.

Looking in the mirror, Lucy couldn't help but admire herself as her hands pet the fabric. It was a long red satin dress. Thin straps on her shoulders leading to a plunging V-neck line for the top. The dress was tight around her mid-section but flowed out once it got past her hips with a high slit over her right leg. It was slightly longer in the back than in the front and Lucy knew once she put on a set of heels, it would stop the dress from dragging on the floor as much. Alright. She could admit it. She liked this dress.

Stepping out, Chloe turned to look at her, her chin rested in her palm as she used her other hand to motion for Lucy to give a spin. With a roll of her eyes, Lucy did as she was instructed and was relived to see the look of delight in Chloe's eyes.

"Fabulous. Utterly fabulous. Red is so your color."

Lucy smiled and it was then she decided to look at the tag that was secured to the side of the dress. She choked on her spit at the sight of the numbers.

"Oh, hell! Not that fabulous." Chloe rolled her eyes and swatted Lucy's hand away from the tag.

"Please, if I expected you to buy something, I wouldn't have taken you here. You're an old friend of Nikolas, which means odds are you're poor."

Lucy blinked at her. "Wow...um...I mean poor seems like a strong-"

"It doesn't matter!" Chloe dismissed. "Had we met a few years ago? Ha! I'd tell you how utterly ridiculous you were for even trying to pull off such a look, let alone trying to afford one." She explained, examining her nails.

Lucy squinted at her. "... But...?"

"But that was then, and this is now, obviously. I'm older, more mature."

Lucy nodded slowly at the answer. "Okay...that's...good. But honestly, Chloe, I can't let you buy this for me. I appreciate the gesture but-"

"I'll let it slide this time because you're still new but let us get one thing straight and that's that nobody lets me do anything. I am Chloe Bourgeois and I do what I want, when I want and right now I want to buy you this dress-"

"But why?" Lucy interrupted. She didn't want to seem ungrateful, clearly money wasn't something Chloe was running short on, but she just couldn't understand why-

"Because you're my friend."

The statement had thrown Lucy off. It wasn't that she was opposed to a friendship with Chloe, but in the short time they had known each other, the blue-eyed girl had seemed somewhat standoffish towards Lucy. Seeming to assess her every time they were together. She blinked a few times and her face must have given her away because Chloe rolled her eyes.

"What? You think I just randomly do this kind of thing for just anyone? As if. Over the duration of your time here I have come to conclude two things. One: You're not here to try and steal my boyfriend from me. Which is good because if you had been, then I would have been forced to dispose of you like the home wreaking trash you were." Chloe said flatly.

"And two: You're important to Nikolas." Chloe rolled her shoulders upon saying as much. "Your friendship is at least. And what is important to him is important to me."

A smile formed on Lucy's face as she looked at the clearly uncomfortable girl in front of her. "You're sweet."

A scoff erupted from Chloe. "Yeah, whatever. Don't go spreading it around. Now get out of the dress so we can get out of here. The abundant number of pastels is starting to make me nauseous."

The next two days seemed to fly by for Lucy. In fact, she felt like this whole trip was flying by. She still had another month and a half in Paris, but it already felt like it was moments away from being over. Lucy looked up from her phone and over at Kagami from the park bench she was sitting on.

"You almost done yet?!" She hollered over. Kagami, who had been swinging around her bokken paused and let out a sigh before dropping her stance and heading to towards Lucys location.

"You are tremendously impatient." Kagami commented as she sat down beside Lucy. She reached for her water bottle and took a drink as Lucy shrugged.

"Guilty. But I am trying to spend time with you, you know. Hard to do that when you're playing Ninja by yourself."

Kagami narrowed her eyes at Lucy. "I am not playing Ninja. I come from a long line of serious fencers."

"But do you like it? Fencing?"

Kagami gave a shrug. "It's fine. I've been doing it my whole life."

"But do you want to do it for the rest of your life? As like, a career? I know you said your mother has pretty high expectations for your future. Are you fencing for her or for you?"

"Both, I think." Kagami answered. "Fencing is not my passion, but it does relax me. At least when my mother isn't practicing with me. When she is I'm too focused on trying to impress her than actually enjoying the sport."

Lucy nodded silently. She didn't really know what that was like. Doing something solely because her parents expected it of her. When she had told them about her interest in the psychology field, she had expected an ecstatic response. What she instead got was a hesitant "Are you sure?"

"I do have a secret though." Kagami said with a mischievous smile. Lucy quirked an eyebrow.

"I like secrets."

"I joined an art program." Lucy smiled.

"You did!? That's great!"

"My mother doesn't know." Lucy's genuine smile shifted to one more forced.

"That's...less great."

Kagami rolled her eyes. "I don't have much of a choice. My mother views the arts as an unworthy way to spend my time and focus."

"Hear me out." Lucy said, holding her hands up in defense. "Do you think perhaps your mothers lack of appreciation for art has to do with her inability to see it?"

"My mother wasn't born blind," Kagami clarified. "She has not been able to see for a very long time, but I'm afraid her way of thinking was set long before her sight was taken from her." A sigh blew past Kagami's lips.

"She used to tell me that a girl is like a young tree. You must stand tall and listen to your mother standing next to you. That is the only way to grow strong and straight. But if you bend to listen to other people, you will grow crooked and weak. You will fall to the ground with the first strong wind. And then you will be like a weed, growing wild in any direction, running along the ground until someone pulls you out and throws you away."

"That's a bit harsh." Lucy said with a slight flinch.

"That's generational trauma. But it's not all bad." Kagami said with a tilt of her head. "Something about it strengthens you. From a young age, I knew I had an amazing gift: this power, this belief in myself, to be better than anyone else. If someone was bigger than me, older than me, it didn't matter. And if they were mean, I could make them sorry."

"Well," Lucy said, holding up her water bottle to Kagami. "Cheers to that I guess." Kagami let out a scoff like chuckle and tapped her bottle against Lucy's before taking another swig.

"So," Lucy began. "How long are you planning to keep your classes a secret? I mean, wont she notice?"

"I'll figure something out. I wont be able to keep her in the dark forever but-"

"Pun intended?"

"Shut up." Kagami bit back, shoving Lucy slightly while laughing. "But, I want to enjoy it while I can. My mother won't be happy but I'm an adult now. She can't really stop me either. That doesn't mean she won't relentlessly try and tell me how I am throwing my life away with a pointless hobby."

"I hope she comes around for you."

"Me too."

"Have you decided weather of not you are going to come with me to Chloe's birthday party?" Lucy asked with a wide smile while fluttering her lashes.

"I have no interest in attending any party hosted by that girl."

Lucy rolled her eyes. "Come onnnn. Chloe's not so bad! Besides, you'll be with me!"

Kagami shook her head. "No. If Chloe wasn't enough, there is also a good chance I'll run into my ex there as well. It's not happening."

"You're ex? Chloe is friends with your ex?"

Letting out an annoyed sigh, Kagami held up her hand dismissively. "Don't get me started. It doesn't matter. The answer is no."

Lucy let out a defeated sigh of her own. "Okay, okay. I get it. Facing exes can be scary. I won't force you."

Kagami glared at her. "I'm not avoiding fear, Lucy. I'm avoiding annoyance."

"Annoyance? Kagami, everything annoys you. I'm annoying you right now. It's alright. We don't have to talk about it anymore. Your broken heart is still mending and I won't force you to open up the old wound."

Kagami stood from her seat, gripping her Bokken and sending a harsh look Lucy's way. "I am not a wounded bird! You want me to go to this stupid party? Fine, but if he shows up and says something stupid, I'm going to take this large piece of wood and shove it up his ass, and that will be on you!"

Lucy's eyes widened slightly at her friend's outburst before regaining her composure and smiling. "That's a risk I am willing to take."

"There is my handsome boy!"

Adrien gave an embarrassed smile as his mother met him at the bottom of the entryway stairs. She took his cheeks in her hands and pulled his head down to her level, planting a kiss on his forehead.

"I missed you too, mom. How was Aunt Amelie?"

His mother tilted her head from side to side. "She's alright. You know how she gets this time of year. She needs a little TLC."

During this time of year. Adrien wanted to argue that his aunt, though he loved her dearly had a lot more hard days than easy ones. As soon as it seemed she might be doing alright, a holiday would come around, or an anniversary would pass and it would be right back to square one.

Adrien's aunt Amelie had lost her son, his cousin Felix, when they were both around 13 years old due to a heart rhythm disorder. He had had it for most of his life, and was carefully monitored for it, however, the illness caught up with him anyway. Without much warning, one warm June night, Felix's heart gave out on him and his mother was never really the same.

Adrien had commented on his aunts change in behavior shortly after the incident. His mother had put him to bed with the only explanation she could muster at the time. Sometimes bad things happen. And there's no blame to be placed. You can't reason with the universe, no matter how sound your logic is ... We are imperfect people made that way by an imperfect world, and we don't always get a say in what shapes us.

It was rare for Adrien to see his aunt these days, but his mother made sure to go out and visit her regularly. Regardless of how short tempered, irrational, or in some cases downright spiteful his aunt Amelie could be, his mother assured him that it was always her pain talking. And that sometimes the people who need us the most are the ones worst at showing it.

"Are you heading out to Chloe's birthday event?" His mother then asked, picking at the lint of his jacket.

"Yes mother."

"Did you get her a gift?"

Adrien scoffed playfully. "Arriving to a party for Chloe empty handed would be something she would never let me hear then end of. Of course, I got her a gift." He gestured the gold and white wrapped box in Nathalie's hands as she stood near the doorway. "One of dads newer pieces, as always."

"Must be nice never having to put any real thought into the gifts you give to your oldest friend." His mother shot, crossing her arms with a smirk.

"Oh, but I put plenty of thought into it mother." Adrien objected. "One must be careful to choose things that best work for the wearer's complexion or face the consequence of allowing them to look washed out. I know all too well. I got the full rundown the last time I tried to give her something green."

Adrien's mother grimaced. "I'm afraid I would have to do the same. Chloe simply does not have the undertones for it."

"So I've learned." Adrien said with a small chuckle.

"Alright, well, have fun sweet boy. Give Chloe my love."

"Of course, mother."

Taking the box from Nathalie, Adrien tucked it under his arm and made his way to the car where his driver was waiting for him with his mother smiling after him.

"Oh Nathalie," Emilie cooed. "He just keeps growing. I can't see the top of his head anymore. When did that happen?"

Nathalie gave a small smile and nodded. "Before you know it, he'll be done with school and moving out on his own..."

An abrupt and somewhat nervous giggle came from Emilie. "Oh! Well, I mean, let's not get ahead of ourselves now!"

"Ahead of ourselves about what?" Gabriel asked as he emerged from his office.

"Adrien growing up." Nathalie answered as Emilie placed her face in her palms and shook her head.

"Well let's not get ahead of ourselves." Gabriel repeated, making his assistant roll her eyes.

"You two are being ridiculous." Nathalie argued. "Adrien is in university now, you can't think that he'll want to stay here forever."

"Oh, Gabriel! Nathalie is right! It's only a matter of time before he meets girl and ends up leaving us to start his own family!"

Gabriel held on to his wife as she slumped and buried her head in his chest. He patted her head affectionately.

"Now, now, Emilie. We have plenty of time with him still. He's brought home plenty of girls and clearly none of them stuck."

Emilie let out a sigh. "I know. But that won't always be the case. I honestly really thought things were going somewhere with that Marinette girl."

Gabriel gave a scoff. "Marinette is a fine designer student, and I truly believe she has a bright future in the world of fashion but she is far too mousey for Adrien. He needs someone who can challenge him."

Emilie pulled away and placed her hands on her hips. "Someone like Tomoe Tsurugi's daughter?" She asked knowingly.

Clearing his throat, Gabriel straightened. "Perhaps."

"Kagami is a good girl, but she and Adrien would have never worked. She's so serious all the time. I mean, you can't really blame her, just look at her mother. The woman wouldn't know a good time if bopped her on the nose."

"Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones, my dear."

Emilie gasped at her husband, bringing her hands to her chest. "I am a delight! I am no ordinary mom. I'm a cool mom. I'm fun! Nathalie tell him how fun I am!"

"She is very fun, sir."

Gabriel sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose before letting out a low chuckle. "Alright, yes. You are a very fun, cool mom. But this very boring dad needs his assistant to come back to work."

Emilie smiled satisfied. "Hm, well, I suppose I do have some unpacking to do." She leant forward and gave her husband a light kiss on the lips. "Do carry on without me."

Gabriel smiled down at his wife, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "How could I ever?"

Bunnix took a deep breath before stepping out of her burrow and into the unfamiliar apartment. The moonlight shined through the windows, illuminating what seemed like a rather unlived in living room space. For just a moment, she thought that it might be possible she had ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time. It was when a calm, male voice called out to her that Bunnix knew she was exactly where she wanted to be.

"Can I help you?" Turning, Bunnix was met with a small Asian man in a Hawaiian shirt, stanning with his weight against his cane. He didn't seem alarmed by her presence, which was good. But he definitely seemed curious. Rightfully so.

"Master Fu," Bunnix greeted. "My name is Bunnix and I have something important to deliver to you."

She held out her hand and opened her palm. Fu's eyes widened and his jaw slacked open as he saw in her hands the butterfly and peacock miraculous.

"You look uncomfortable."

Lucy fidgeted with her dress as she shot Kagami and annoyed glance.

"That's because I am. There are so many people here."

"Of course, there is." Kagami snorted. "It's a Bourgeois party. Chloe is known for setting up high-end social events. Her own party will be no exception to that."

She and Kagami had arrived at Chloe's party only a few minutes ago. It took place on the rooftop terrace of her father's hotel. The setting sun gleamed against the silver- and gold-plated plates and utensils. Illuminating jewelry off of the many men and women present. The pool, that had been closed off for the even seemed to glitter in just the right light.

Waitstaff made their rounds with small horderves and drinks flowing between the sea of faces, all of which were unfamiliar to Lucy.

"Alright!" Lucy announced mostly to herself. "This is fine. I'll just hang out in this little corner, hopefully make it long enough to have some cake, and then be on my way. Easy peasy."

Lucy took a seat at an open table, adjusting the silverware in front of her while taking a shallow breath. Kagami gave her friend a small pat on the back while allowing her eyes to skim the crowd, lighting up at the sight of a familiar friendly face.

"I see someone I know. I'll be right back."

Lucy waved her off absent mindedly. "Go on, don't let my anxiety stop you from having a good time."

As Kagami walked off, Lucy hunched slightly. This was going to be a long night.

"Are you seriously working this event?" Kagami asked accusingly.

Marinette jumped slightly at the sound of her voice before relaxing again and sighing. "The things we do for our parents, right?"

"When did you get back to Paris?"

"A few days ago. My parents practically sprung this on me as soon as I walked in the door."

"Why didn't they just do it? They are usually so hands on."

"Too busy. They have a wedding they are catering tomorrow and they need all the time they can to prepare. Unfortunately, Chloe's parties are also too big to pass up, so here I am." Marinette said flatly.

"Well, it's good to see you anyway. When you have a moment, I'd like to introduce you to a friend of mine who came to visit from the U.S, I think you two would get along."

Marinette raised her brows. "Oh? Yeah, sure. I'll be making rounds so I'm sure I'll come across you again."

"We've claimed that table table over there," Kagami pointed. Marinette squinted as she looked past people passing by to the area Kagami had pointed out. The sight of a familiar blonde woman made Marinette squeak.

"Lucy!"

Kagami quirked a brow at Marinette. "Yes...you two know each other?"

"Uh, sorta? I need to find Adrien!"

"Adrien knows her too?"

Marinette gave Kagami an awkward smile. "Yes! Well, no! Sorta! It's a little complicated. We met at the airport in New York. The details are...unimportant. But Adrien is going to want to know she is here. I got to find him!"

Kagami's eyes shifted from her frazzled friend who beelined her way through the crowd and made their way back over to Lucy who still sat alone, trying to look like she wanted to be there. Kagami's eyes narrowed and her lip curled in distaste as she was approached by none other than Chloe.

"There you are! And look at you! You look great! Aren't you having a fabulous time!?"

Lucy forced a smile and nodded at the bubbly blonde. "Yes, it's great. I'll admit I'm a little overwhelmed with all the unfamiliar faces though."

Chloe shot her a dismissive wave. "That's because you're just sitting here. You need to get up, go mingle! There are always a handful of eligible bachelors hiding away in the crowd somewhere. Maybe you could find one for a little holiday romance." She suggested with a wink.

Lucy gave out a laugh. "Oh...ha...I don't know about that."

Crossing her arms, Chloe looked down at her with a smirk. "Oh, don't act so innocently. Nik told me just how much of a little minx you used to be."

"Wow, okay." Lucy said. "I mean if we are sharing secrets, I can share secrets. Did you know that Nikolas still calls his mom, mommy when they are together?"

Chloe blinked at her. "No... No I did not. I mean...I still call my dad, daddy so I guess..."

"It's not the same and you know it. I don't make the rules but at the end of the day a woman calling her father daddy is not nearly as unsettling as a man calling his mom mommy. That's not fair and a bit of a double standard, I know but it is just how it is."

Shaking it off, Chloe brought back her smile. "Thank you for that very...interesting bit of information, but that's not the point. You are here, in Paris, and it is a right of passage to have some form of a love affair."

"I don't think that's true." Lucy tried to argue, but Chloe was having none of it.

"It definitely is! Now, come with me and I will intro-"

"There is the birthday girl!" A warm voice called out from behind Lucy. Chloe's eyes lit up as she jumped in excitement.

"Adrikins! You're here!"

Lucy's brows shot to her hairline as she watched a familiar blonde man walk toward Chloe with open arms. Her mouth gaped open for a moment at the pure shock of how unlikely she found this encounter before regaining her sense. A wide smile crept onto her face as she was brought back to the present.

"Adrikins?!" She laughed. "Oh...oh yes...yes to everything that is."

Adrien's head shot toward the sound of her laughter, his eyes widening as he released Chloe.

"Adrikins, this is my new friend Lucy." Chloe introduced. "Lucy, this is my very best friend, Adrien Agreste. Adrien Agreste as in the world-famous fashion designer Gabriel Agreste's son!" She informed with a wink.

Before either party could speak, Marinette crashed into Adrien, breaking the spell that had seemed to be on him, making his stumble to the side.

"Adrien! You'll never guess who is here!"

"Hello, Marinette."

Marinette's eyes snapped over to Lucy, a wide toothy smile forming on her lips as she waved awkwardly.

"Hey...Lucy..." Marinette looked to Adrien with the same frozen smile as he raised a brow at her. "Look Adrien...Lucy's here!"

"Dupain-Cheng, you're here to work, not slam into my guests." Chloe sneered, placing her hands on her hips.

"Chlo, be nice." Adrien cautioned.

"This is me being nice." Chloe shot back. "Look at her. She's in a work uniform, that means she is here to what? Work. Off you go Dupain-Cheng." She shooed.

Adrien went to argue but Marinette held up her hand to stop him. "No, she's right. I just wanted to...well..." She gestured to Lucy. "Anyway, I'll...eh...It was nice to see you again, Lucy."

"You as well." Lucy said as Marinette wandered off into the crowd.

"You look great." Adrien commented, making Lucy smile. Chloe tilted her head to the side.

"And just how do you know Marinette?"

"We met at the airport." Adrien answered, explaining that he had met Lucy prior to this moment as well. "When Marinette and I arrived in New York she was heading to Paris."

"Huh. Small world." Chloe noted.

"What are the odds?" Lucy agreed.

What were the odds indeed? Adrien thought. Luck, normalcy, fate... none of those seemed to be on their side. Their very being together went against the odds. All he knew was that something good had begun. A flame had been lit. And it felt as though the whole universe was watching to see if it would be blown out. But Adrien couldn't worry about that. Not now. Sometimes we spend way too much time questioning the gifts we're given instead of being thankful for them.

"One in a million for sure." Kagami spoke, moving past Adrien and Chloe and over to Lucy's side. His crossed arm stance mirroring Chloe's from the other side of Lucy.

"Kagami." Adrien acknowledged with a small smile. "I didn't expect to see you here."

"You can blame this one for that turn of events," Kagami said pointing down at Lucy.

"Kagami is the friend I said I was coming to visit." Lucy clarified at seeing the confused look on Adrien's face. The boy looked between the two women in somewhat of an awe. "I'm guessing you two are already familiar. Wild."

"Lucy, remember that ex I told you about?" Kagami spoke, her narrow eyes not leaving Adrien. His body seemed to tense at her words.

Lucy blinked at Kagami a few times before looking to Adrien and then back to Kagami. "Yeah...? Oh! Oh..."

"So, this is where the party is happening!" Nikolas's voice rang out as he swung an arm over Chloe's shoulder.

"Hey Nik," Lucy greeted.

"Hey, Lu!"

"How's mommy?"

Nikola opened his mouth to answer only to stop and give Lucy a hard stare. Beside him, Chloe tilted her head and raised a brow.

"Dude...for real?" Nikolas questioned.

Lucy gave a shrug. "You told secrets about me, so it's only fair."

"I didn't tell any secrets about you!"

"You told Chloe I was a minx!" Lucy argued.

Nikolas scoffed and rolled his eyes. "We were young and we did some stuff, Lucy. It was minx behavior."

"You did some stuff?" Adrien asked quietly as he looked between the two, only to be ignored.

"Yeah! And it's nobody else business."

"It was a compliment!" Nikolas shot back.

"What kind of stuff?" Adrien voiced again as Kagami shot him an annoyed look.

"Seriously, Adrien?"

"Minxy stuff, that's what." Nikolas answered with a wink. Chloe smacked him in the chest with her hand.

"Are you seriously talking about doing sexy stuff with your ex right in front of me?!"

"You already know about it, Cho! That is the whole reason we are having this conversation to begin with!"

"Yeah, you told me! Now you're just blurting it out for everyone to here! What? Do you think you're going to impress people with the fact that you had sex with Lucy when you were 16? You probably weren't even any good at it!"

"I'll have you know I was a natural at the art of love making. Tell her Lu!"

Lucy's eyes widened at being called out. "Uh..."

"Oh please." Chloe scoffed. "How would she have known? She had nothing to compare it to."

"Neither did you." Nikolas sassed making Chloe huff.

"Huh, you're right. Maybe I should take the time to sample something else. Get a taste of what's out there."

Nikolas pulled Chloe closer to him by the waist, his other hand taking hold of her chin, making her look up at him. Their noses brushed as he smiled.

"I'm not the jealous or territorial type. But what's mine is mine. End of story."

"Oh, so you own me now, is that it?" Chloe bit back.

"Only for as long as you want me to."

"And now I want to throw up." Kagami stated at the sight of Chloe and Nikolas's heated eye contact. "Lucy, I'm leaving." She turned on her heel, ignoring Lucy's quiet protest to being left alone.

Adrien's eyes went to Kagami as he quickly made his way after her. "Hold on, I'll walk you out!"

Lucy pursed her lips together as she debated what to do with herself. Sitting uncomfortably, she looked back over to Chloe and Nikolas who seemed to be having a very intimate conversation in voices only high enough for one another to hear. Having had enough she cleared her throat obnoxiously.

"Get a room." She stressed in annoyance. Nikolas snapped and shot a finger gun at her.

"I was thinking the same thing."

Chloe seemed to contemplate it, fiddling with one of the buttons on Nikolas's dress shirt before shaking off her desires and patting him on the chest.

"Not now. I'm hosting." Nikolas rolled his eyes.

"Always the hostess with the mostess." He said, planting a quick kiss on her neck and strutting off into the crowd.

"Careful, Chloe." Lucy warned after Nikolas had disappeared into the crowd. "That's how babies are made."

Chloe scoffed. "If that man ever gets me pregnant, I will kill him."

Lucy laughed. "Kids not in the cards for you?"

A shudder seemed to course through Chloe as she shook her head. "Ugh! Absolutely not! Can you even imagine? Me? Getting fat? Utterly ridiculous."

OoOoOoOoO

"Kagami wait up!" Adrien called out. Kagami who was only a few feet from the elevator door stopped and tilted her head back with her eyes closed.

"What do you want, Adrien?"

Adrien stopped a few steps behind her and scratched the back of his neck nervously. "How have you been?"

Kagami spun around and shot him a glare. "How have I been? That's what you're chasing me down to ask me? I'm great. Goodbye now." She said, heading over to the elevator and pushing the down button.

"Kagami, wait! I'm sorry!" Adrien apologized. "I know things have been weird between us since...but I never meant to hurt you. You have to know that."

Kagami swallowed hard and left out breath from her nose. She didn't look at him as she replied. "I know." It was true. She had had a lot of time to think it over. Again and again. Adrien was a lot of things, but spiteful wasn't one of them.

"I put us here, Adrien." She spoke quietly. "I begged you to start taking control of your own life. I pushed you to look into your heart and go after the things that you wanted." Her eyes filled with tears that she refused to let fall as she blinked them away. "I just didn't think for even a moment, that what you wanted wasn't me."

"For what it's worth. I had hoped it was." Adrien said gently. "And when I realized it wasn't, I hoped even more that we could still be friends. Because dating or not, you're still important to me, Kagami."

Kagami knew that. But she also knew better. Because you can never go from going out to being friends, just like that. It's a lie. It's just something that people say they'll do to take the permanence out of a breakup. And someone always takes it to mean more than it does, and then is hurt even more when, inevitably, said 'friendly' relationship is still a major step down from the previous relationship, and it's like breaking up all over again. But messier.

"We're good, Adrien." Kagami said from over her shoulder as the elevator door dinged and opened. It was true, she supposed. Time had passed since their seemingly inevitable break up. And in that time Kagami had time to reflect. She wasn't what Adrien had truly wanted, and maybe the reality was that he wasn't what she had truly wanted either. Otherwise, why would she have pushed him so hard to change?

Clearly, in the long run, Adrien had listened to her. And even though that didn't change his feelings towards her, she was certain that she didn't need it to. She was happy for him. Happy that his parents seemed to support his choices. Happy that at least one of them was able to escape the tight grip their parents seemed to hold on them. She wasn't there yet, but she was working on it.

As she stepped into the elevator and hit the lobby floor button, Adrien placed his hand in the way of the door. Kagami raised a brow as Adrien looked at her somewhat nervously.

"So...before you go...Lucy..." Kagami narrowed her eyes at him.

"Did you honestly try and make amends with me so that you could ask me about my friend?"

"No!" Adrien shouted waving his hands, before placing one back to stop the closing door again. "I want us to be good. I'm glad we are good. I just...after I met her at the airport I kinda...I felt-something. I don't know. And I thought about her a lot during my trip and I know she probably didn't even-"

"She did." Kagami said flatly. Adrien paused and knitted his brows together. "The cute guy from the airport. I didn't think much of it at first till I found her googling Gabriel Agreste. When I asked why, she pointed to a photo of you and said, "that's the cute guy from the airport I was telling you about." It was an annoying coincidence to say the least."

"And then you told her that we dated?"

"No. I almost did but for the sake of my own sanity chose against it." Kagami answered. "Even if she was polite enough not to ask about it, I knew she would have questions. Questions that eventually I would feel obligated to answer. Questions I didn't want to answer."

"Then how did she know-?"

"I told her I didn't want to come to this stupid party because I might run into my ex. You two meeting again, it was bound to come up eventually. I got it out of the way."

"Right..." Adrien said with a nod. "So, she's into me?"

"Let go of the door, Adrien." Not wanting to test his luck, Adrien listened and let the door close and Kagami leave. He straightened his jacket and rolled his shoulder. He had a date with destiny.

OoOoOoOoO

Fu's eyes widened at the sight of the miraculous in her hands. He took a step forward as if to get a better look before bringing his eyes back up to Bunnix.

"How did you get these?"

"I made a sacrifice."

Bunnix had wished things had been simpler. That she could just have figured of ShadowMoth's identity and stolen them from him in her current timeline. The future would still change but the past, everything she had known would have stayed the same. If ShadowMoth had been anyone other than Adrien's father, perhaps she would have considered it. Adrien had already lost his mother. She couldn't bare it for him to lose his father too.

"I hope this sacrifice was worth it." Fu said as he gently took the miraculous from her hands.

"It has to be."

OoOoOoOo

When Adrien found Lucy she was alone. Still planted in the same seat when he had left. He cracked his neck before making his way over.

"You look like you're having a great time." Adrien joked. Lucy straightened from her slouched position and looked at him.

"Come on." He said, holding out his hand to her. "Take a walk with me." Lucy raised a brow but took his hand, allowing him to lead her away from the small table she had claimed as her own.

"So," Adrien started. "We meet again."

A light laugh left Lucy as she nodded. "It is quite the coincidence."

Adrien shook his head. "I don't think it's a coincidence at all." He said with a smile. "We met one another by accident but that only means that every power in the universe made it so."

"Ohhh, so you think this was all part of some big plan huh?"

"We met, as you were on your way to Paris, where I live. You are friends with my ex, you befriended my childhood best friend by means of her dating your ex. And now you're at my childhood best friend's birthday that I couldn't miss even if I wanted to. Nothing about that is a coincidence." Adrien explained. He stopped them a few paces away at the terrace edge, a stone railing protecting them from falling to the pavement below.

"How are you liking Paris?" He asked as Lucy leaned on the stone and took in the twinkle that Paris let off from the sun setting behind it.

"It's beautiful. How did you like New York?"

Adrien watched her, admiring the way she seemed to glow from the sun's final rays. The cool evening air blew past them and a set of goosebumps raised on Lucy's arms. Without a word, Adrien slipped off his jacket and placed it over Lucy's shoulders, earning a thankful smile from the woman.

"It was beautiful. But New York has nothing on this view."

As she glanced over to meet his eyes, Lucy could feel the heat rise in her face at his words, forcing her to look away.

"You're so corny."

"Like I'm fresh off the cob." They both laughed and neither could deny how much they enjoyed the sound of the others' laughter. "How long are you in Paris?"" Adrien asked as it died down.

"Till the end of the summer." Lucy answered. "I go back to school in the fall."

"In New York?"

"Chicago."

"I don't think I have been there yet." Adrien mused. "Looks that I might have a reason to change that."

"Has anyone ever told you what a shameless flirt you are?"

With a lazy shrug, Adrien answered. "It's been mentioned."

Lucy gave a small laugh and shook her head, bringing her gaze back to the city scenery.

"I was looking for you." Adrien blurted out making Lucy look to him once more. "I tried to find you before you got on your flight. You're very fast, you know? I meant it when I said this was no coincidence. I didn't believe it then; I definitely don't believe it now."

"Yeah..." Lucy said slowly. "I didn't want to give myself the chance to consider catching a later flight just so I could chat up a guy I would probably never see again..."

"Funny how that worked out."

Lucy nodded. "It is funny. You know. My mother almost got a job in Paris a few years back."

"Really?"

"Umhm. Then my dad died and she just...couldn't."

"I'm sorry." Adrien offered quietly.

"I remember being so disappointed. I saw her job opportunity as a way to start over. I thought my dad passing would have been the exact reason she needed to get away, but instead it almost seemed to tie her down."

"It can be hard to leave a place that holds a lifetime of memories." Adrien said. "Even when some of those memories aren't happy."

"I wanted to." Lucy admitted. "I wanted more. To be able to start a new and create fresh memories instead of having constant reminders of the ones I would rather forget."

Lucy picked at the skin around her thumb as she thought about it. "Sometimes, I would lay in bed at night and I would think of Paris. I could have thought of anywhere I suppose but for some reason that one lost opportunity seemed to stick with me. I would think of how different everything would be. How many new people I might meet. When I became friends with Kagami and she suggested I come to Paris to visit I knew I had to go." She told him.

"It was like some part of me was screaming at me that this was the chance I had been waiting for. That I couldn't miss out on it." She smiled and turned her head to look at Adrien, who stood listening carefully to her words.

"I guess what I mean," She continued. "Is that maybe in some way...I was looking for you too."

OoOoOoOoO

Fu pulled out his miracle box and opened it, placing the two miraculous inside. As he did, he took in the miraculous in his possesion, his hand grazing over the rabbit miraculous thoughtfully. He closed the box and turned to Bunnix who seemed hesitant to leave. There was no going back now. As odd of a statement as that might be for a time traveling miraculous holder. Things would be different when she went back. Very different.

"Time travel is delicate." Fu said, making the girl look up from the floor. "Small changes in the past have a tendency to cause very big changes for the future."

"I know I-"

"But," Fu cut her off. "One of the great lessons of time travel is that many things cannot be changed. Time wants to happen."

Adrien swallowed as he closed the space between them, making it so they were shoulder to shoulder. He rested his forearm beside hers on the stone railing and interlocked their fingers. Lucy looked from their intertwined hands and up toward Adrien's face.

"Even with everything else being lost in fog there is something about the way you look at me. There is somehow a constant with you. Believing in you...loving you...its muscle memory."

"I don't need to remember a single thing about my life to know I love you."

Adrien stared at her, knowing with certainty that he was falling in love. He leaned in close and his eyes drifted from hers and down to her lips, and before he could even think about talking himself out of it, Adrien kissed her kissed her beneath the evening sky wondering what on earth he had done in a past life to have been allowed to find her.

Lucy said nothing when they pulled away almost reluctantly from one another. Instead she smiled, squeezed his hand, and rested her head upon his shoulder.

Stories never really end...even if the books like to pretend they do. Stories always go on. They don't end on the last page, any more than they begin on the first.

I hope you all enjoyed this book. Its been a few years in the making and we have come along way. There were times when I thought I wouldn't finish it. This chapter, like a few others made me laugh and made me cry and I hope you got some kind of emotional reaction out of it too!

I've had a few asking me: Will there be a sequel?

The answer is no. I planned this ending before season 5 aired and the ending I made wouldn't really make sense mixing it with season 5.

HOWEVER!

I did have an idea. That is if enough of you seem interested. I was thinking of making almost a sort of one-shot book. Something like "Adrien and Lucy across the multiverse" or something. It would be a series of one-shots that don't really corollate with one another about Adrien and Lucy in a sort of imagine if scenarios.

I would come up with some on my own but you my dear reads could also give me situations and scenarios that you would like to see the pair in either together or separately.

Some examples might be:

"What if Marinette reacted more negative when she found out Adrien's feelings for Lucy."

"What if Lucy connected the dots between Adrien and Chat Noir"

"What if Adrien met Lucy while she was in a darker mindset?"

"What is Lucy didn't like Marinette?"

"What if Luka also like Lucy?

"What if Adrien proposed when they were done with school?"

Things like that.

If that is something you guys think you might be interested in, let me know! I won't bother if everyone is kinda over this story. I write it for me, but I also write for others to enjoy so if they you're not it just doesn't seem worth the trouble.
