Hey, everybody. Back with another chapter.

So, this chapter will show the other two Champions being reunited with Link and Zelda. Let's get to it.

Rico: No, I have no interest right now in writing such a story

Chapter 7- Coming to Terms

As the sun rises above the horizon of southern Hyrule, a small bird flies in to land on the windowsill of Link and Zelda's home outside Lurelin Village. The bird starts singing to the rising sun, the sweet sounds echoing through the house and the clearing it sits in.

As the sun shines through the windows, Zelda awakens from a long night's sleep. Looking around, she is surprised not to hear any sound of her son's crying. Wondering why for a moment, Zelda slowly slides out of bed and puts on her sandals she wears around the house.

Then, she hears something. A familiar lullaby she remembers Terrako playing for her when she was little. Zelda walks out of the bedroom and into the main living area, where she stops and just smiles with joy at the sight before her. Link is sitting on one of the couches in their living room, cradling little Elron as the boy sleeps soundly. Terrako is sitting beside them on the couch, whistling the lullaby to Elron.

Zelda smiles brightly. It's been two months since she and Link welcomed their son into the world. And needless to say, those two months had been the best two months of their lives. Urbosa had stayed for the first week to help the young parents get adjusted to being parents before she left back to Gerudo Town. Needless to say, Urbosa's help and advice had proven very helpful, and now the two were well adjusted to caring for their son. Of course, it was a lot of work, and at times, Zelda had never been so stressed or worn out, but it was more than worth it. Being a mother was the greatest thing that had ever happened to Zelda.

"Why didn't you wake me up when he did?" Zelda asks as she walks towards her husband and sits down next to him.

"I wanted to let you sleep in," Link says with a smile before adding, "And I think I can handle our son without your help for a little while."

Zelda smiles and laughs a bit before giving Link a kiss on his cheek before she rests her head on his shoulder. "I love the life we have built, Link. It makes me happy," she says.

Link smiles brightly at her. "That is all I've ever wanted: for you to be safe and happy," he says.

Zelda feels her eyes water a little from emotion before kissing Link again, this time on the lips. "I love you, my husband," she says.

"I love you, Zelda," Link responds.

Suddenly, there is a knock on the door. The two look at each other in confusion for a moment before Zelda says, "Don't worry. I'll get it." She stands up from the couch and heads for the door while Link refocuses on their son.

Zelda unlatches the front door, and opens it, and is surprised to see Urbosa standing on the other side. "Urbosa! Welcome! What brought you back so soon?" she exclaims, pleased but surprised to see her friend here.

"Hello, little bird. I hope you don't mind, but I brought some friends," Urbosa says. She then gestures off to the side. Zelda looks in the direction Urbosa gestured, and is absolutely stunned to see Daruk and Mipha standing there. Before Urbosa left, Zelda and Link had agreed that she could eventually tell Mipha and Daruk about finding them once she felt the time was right. However, she had not expected Urbosa to return with them so soon.

"Mipha. Daruk," Zelda gasps in shock.

"Princess! It's been too long!" Daruk exclaims, arms spread wide in excitement, as if ready to give her a massive, bone-crushing hug.

"What are you all doing here?" Zelda asks in shock.

"We could ask you the same," Mipha responds with an amused smile.

Urbosa speaks up. "I felt it was right to tell them, and both of them wanted to come see you and know you were okay," she says with a smile on her face.

Zelda is still standing there in shock. She is brought out of her shock when Mipha walks up to her and embraces the Hylian princess. "It is such a relief to see you okay, princess," Mipha says with an air of relief in her voice.

Zelda finally smiles and returns the hug. "It is so good to see you too, Mipha," she says.

A split second later, the two are about crushed as Daruk engulfs them both in one of his massive hugs. "Good to have you back, Princess!" he exclaims.

"A little too tight, Daruk," Zelda groans. Daruk releases them a second later, looking a little sheepish. She smiles at the Goron as she says, "It is good to see you."

Mipha now looks at Zelda with concern. "Princess, where have you been? Have you been here all this time? What caused your disappearance? And…where is Link?" she asks, pausing a bit during her last question so she doesn't give away too much of her personal feelings.

Zelda is quiet for several moments, thinking through how she is going to explain this to her old friends. Finally, she says, "I do owe the both of you an explanation. Come inside, and I will answer all of your questions."

Zelda steps back and turns around, walking back into her home. Mipha and Daruk look at confusion at Urbosa, but she just smiles and gestures for them to follow Zelda into the cottage. After a second, they do so.

As Mipha and Daruk enter the cottage, Daruk having a little difficulty in squeezing himself through the door, both of them are stunned at the sight that greets them. Zelda is standing next to one of several couches in the front room. And sitting comfortably on the couch is Link, who is gently rocking a sleeping baby boy. Link looks up at them in surprise, not having expected the two Champions to show up.

"Little guy?" Daruk says in surprise. After a moment, he then says, "Well, maybe I shouldn't call you little guy now that there's a littler guy around."

"Link? Is it really you?" Mipha asks in shock, not sure what to make of the situation.

Link looks at Mipha in silence for a second before he smiles and says, "Yes, Mipha, it is me."

Mipha is quiet, trying to wrap her head around what little she can already know. Finally, she asks, "Did…did you two leave together? Have you been together this whole time in your absence?"

"Yes," Link says. He pauses, then asks, "Urbosa, why don't you take Elron in the other room while Zelda and I talk with these two?"

"Of course," Urbosa says. Having spent the first week after Elron's birth staying with the couple, this would not be the first time she had looked after him. She steps forward and carefully takes him from Link's arms before she heads back towards his bedroom, whispering to the sleeping boy, "Look at how big you've gotten. I hope you'll like the new toy I brought for you." It's then that Link and Zelda notice the small sand seal plush doll hanging from Urbosa's belt, and both smile to themselves. Urbosa had really gotten into adopting an aunt role to Elron.

As Urbosa leaves with the baby, Zelda sits down next to Link and says, "Mipha, why don't you sit down?" She then looks at Daruk and says, "I'm sorry, Daruk, but we have no furniture that can handle a Goron. I hope you don't mind standing."

"Not all, princess," Daruk responds jovially. Mipha, still in shock, manages to take a seat on another couch across from them.

"I'll keep this short so I don't ramble on. Mipha, Daruk, after Ganon was finally defeated and sealed away, Link and I realized that we were falling in love with each other. Neither of us had known of the others feelings until then, but after Ganon's defeat, we could not keep our feelings to ourself. Knowing my father and much of the kingdom would not approve of me being with and marrying a commoner, let alone my appointed knight, we decided to leave Hyrule behind and journey into the wilds in order to be together," Zelda explains.

"I knew from our journeys that this area was far enough out of the way that we would not be easily found," Link takes over explaining, "So we came to Lurelin Village and built this house with the help of a carpenter in town. Once it was finished, we decided we wished to be married, and were married in the village. Since then, we have lived here together. And, as you can see, we welcomed our son two months ago."

"But not come to us?" Daruk asks.

"I am sorry, Daruk. We trust you, and all the Champions, with all our hearts. But we did not trust that others of your races might not pass on information on our whereabouts if we visited, and we did not believe we could keep our visits secret. This place is far enough from the castle, and with various precautions, we could keep our presence secret. And, I was scared of losing Link, and I pressed for us to not try to contact any of you for fear of us being discovered. I already apologized to Urbosa and Revali for this, and I now apologize to you both for the same," Zelda responds.

"So, you two have been married?" Mipha asks, her heart beginning to break a little. For quite some time, she had harbored romantic feelings for Link, and had even crafted a set of Zora Armor for him. She had hoped to give it to him after the Calamity passed, but now, she realizes that, no matter how much she may love Link, it seems his heart belongs to another.

"Yes," Zelda says with a smile, taking Link's hand, "We celebrated our first anniversary a month ago, a few weeks after our son's birth."

Daruk looks extremely excited, and quickly begins commenting on how happy he is for them, and looks forward to getting to know their son. However, Link can quickly see the expression on Mipha's face. For some time, he had suspected that Mipha might have some feelings for him, but did not know for sure. However, seeing her expression as she learns about his and Zelda's marriage, Link feels he now knows the extent of Mipha's feelings.

Link turns to Zelda and whispers in her ear. She looks at him in confusion, and he just gives her a look to communicate his thoughts. She nods and then stands up. "Daruk, now that you're here, I was hoping to get your help with something. Some rocks have piled up and blocked the stream that flows from the spring overlooking our cottage. We were going to get some help from the village to get rid of them, but perhaps you could help us?"

"Of course, princess. Show me the way!" Daruk exclaims, happy to be of help. Zelda smiles and leads Daruk out of the cottage, the Goron again struggling to get out of the door.

After watching him leave, Link looks at Mipha and says, "I may have to enlarge the door for the next time Daruk visits."

Mipha smiles and lets out a soft laugh. "Perhaps. You don't want to risk him destroying the front of your house by accident," she says, and the two share another laugh.

Link then grows more solemn and says, "Mipha…I can see it on your face and in your eyes. This news of my marriage with Zelda brings you some feelings of sadness."

Mipha looks at him, and finally allows her emotions to be more visible on her face, and tears begin to well in her eyes. "Yes," she whispers.

Link nods, then says, "Please, tell me, Mipha. I know from experience how being silent can make things harder."

Mipha is quiet for a moment before she looks at Link, the young man she has loved for so much time. "Link, I…I have loved you. For some time. I carried some affection for you ever since we were young, but it was only once we reunited a few years ago that they blossomed into something more. I…I always hoped that, as we spent time together…you would fall for me. Even when I thought I saw signs of affection for Zelda within you, I always hoped that you would choose me."

Mipha now begins to cry even more as she says, "After your disappearance, I hoped that I would find you, and that when I did…we could be together. I know that it is selfish to say such things, now that you and Zelda are together, but…I cannot help but be heartbroken that I was not the one to win your heart."

Link looks at his dear friend with pity before he stands up and goes over to sit beside Mipha, putting an arm around her to comfort her. "I am sorry, Mipha. But I simply have never had romantic feelings for you. I hate to be the cause of your heartbreak, Mipha, but I could not have given you what you sought from me. You are my dear friend, and I will always care for you, but I could not be the one for you to spend your life with."

"I know. And I hope you can forgive me for my selfishness," Mipha asks him amidst her tears.

"There is nothing to forgive, and you are not selfish. The heart wants what the heart wants. I have learned that for myself. I only ask that, after you have time to mourn and come to terms, you will not let this hold you back from moving on with your life and finding happiness with someone," Link says.

"I will try," Mipha responds.

As Link tries to comfort his friend, he hears footsteps and a soft whine. Looking up, he sees Urbosa coming back into the room, holding Elron, who is fussing a bit. Getting an idea to at least help cheer Mipha up now, he motions Urbosa over.

Urbosa walks over to the two and stops in front of them. Link then looks at Mipha and asks, "Mipha…would you like to meet mine and Zelda's son?"

Mipha looks at Link, then notices Urbosa. She instantly sees the baby resting in Urbosa's arms, and mostly stops crying, starting to be mesmerized by how cute he is.

"Would you like to hold him?" Link asks. Before she can respond, Urbosa holds Elron out to Mipha. Surprised, Mipha takes him after a moment.

Elron starts fussing a bit more from being passed to another person. But Mipha gently rocks him and whistles a Zora lullaby. In a second, Elron quiets down, then opens his eyes. He looks up at Mipha and smiles, making several happy noises. Mipha can't help but smile brightly, filled with the happiness that seems to be very contagious when holding a baby.

After several moments, Mipha looks up at Link. "He is beautiful, Link. You and Zelda must be very proud," she says. She pauses, then says, "Although it may take me some time to get over my sadness…I am very happy for you two."

Link smiles at Mipha, hoping this is a sign she can move past her disappointment and sadness. He then hears a noise and turns around to see Zelda and Daruk walking back inside. Daruk quickly walks over to look down at Elron. "Aw, isn't he cute?" Daruk says in his happy yet gruff voice. Elron begins to cry a little, scared from Daruk's voice. Daruk looks a little ashamed as Mipha quickly quiets him, and the others all laugh.

Link relaxes back a bit into the couch and looks back at Zelda, who smiles brightly at him. At last, all four of their old friends have found them again, and they can finally feel at ease knowing that they have the support of the Champions in their mission to live their lives together as a family.

And, I'll end the chapter there. Hope this was a good one.

I hope you like the whole bit with Mipha and Link and how I did that scene. I felt it was important to address that whole topic when we saw Mipha reunite with Zelda and Link.

Also, I am about to publish my third Zelda story, so keep an eye out for that one as well. It will of course be another Zelink story from the Breath of the Wild era.

And as for this story, the next chapter will be up soon. Until it is, please leave a review, and stay tuned!
