It's been a while huh, almost Halloween again. Speaking of, I still need to resolve this mess. Let's hope the pandemic is over soon and then I'll actually have excuses for making you guys wait. HAHAHA, I kid. At the same time, I do love cliffhangers. Still, this is the climax and writing fights are not my forte. Yet I am really good at writing these days thanks to university, so I hope this is good enough for you guys. I'm running out of tricks for Ema to use though, I might need to pick up the pace if she's going to win. Anyways, enjoy!
You could imagine that my comments did not make Pitch very happy… .all. As powerful as I was I couldn't win from gloating alone, I knew that. I was mainly trying to buy time until my friends could unravel Pitch's plans and pull the rug from under him. I wondered how much longer it was going to take. While lost focus can cause failure, so can fear…in that aspect Pitch and I were equally matched. While it wasn't Pitch I was afraid of, I was a little afraid that something might go wrong and I wouldn't win. I could slip up, or I could be trapped fighting Pitch forever. What I want is for him to slip up and be at my mercy, but it's not going to be that simple.
Some backup might be nice right about now, is what I couldn't help but think to myself as the fight picked up.
After my declaration of dominance, Pitch sent a massive wave of black sand at me (seeing as I was larger now). I did a backflip landing with a big boom, and then charged at him wearing metal gauntlets. Pitch had defended himself with a shield of sand.
"Any trick you have, I can copy," said Pitch.
"Maybe," I said, taking off the gauntlets. I smushed them together and pulled them into a stick with two heavy ends. "Maybe not!" I cried as I slammed the stick down on him. Once slammed into the ground, the other end of the stick broke off and slammed into him as well.
More gauntlets appeared on my arms. I pulled them off.
"Well, Pitch I already threw down the gauntlet, but I say it's time to really get this fight started!"
I threw the gauntlets down on the ground, and it made a huge explosion of smoke. By the time it cleared I was out of Pitch's sight.
"Hide and Seek? Really Ema? Very well then, if you want to play, then let's play."
Pitch disappeared as well, into the shadows. Our voices were the only things that could be detected.
"I don't know how you're expecting this to end, Ema?"
"Simple, I fight you, you lose, Jack and the kids make Halloween fun instead of scary, you will leave with your tail between your legs, and then me and my friends will party."
"Is it safe to say you have friends?"
"Don't start that again you manipulative liar."
"Look who's talking, you hypocrite."
"At least I'm a good person deep down. The only thing you are underneath all that shadow is a sad and rotten man. We may be very similar, but we not alike."
"Yes, you care about others. You wish for them to be free, you wish that everything that they ever think could be expressed, you wish for them to have happy childhoods, you wish for nothing terrible to happen to them. How would you feel if I just decided to go and attack them right now? I mean, as long as you're not going to show yourself…"
I stepped out from a crack in the wall and expanded to full size.
"Don't go after them, I'm right here; I'm what you want, right?"
Pitch appeared out of the shadows, pinning me to the wall with a javelin.
"Ema, your soft heart is so predictable. Who says I have to go anywhere near them to hurt them?" I smirked.
"Who says I'm the real Ema?" I had pulled a trick out of Pitch's book and was hiding in a shadow, black and flattened along the ground; at that cue I jumped out, latching onto Pitch, encircling his neck with a sword and dagger. I had glowing red eyes and a Cheshire grin.
"You've met Mini-me, haven't you?" Mini-me crossed her arms and started shrinking back to her original size.
"Yeah, she's still not too pleased with what you did to me." I grew an arm out of my back so I could high-five her little form.
"I still can't believe you consider that illusion your friend."
"I'm more a friend to her then you will ever be, you bully."
"So you're friends with your power, that's fine. I'm also friends with mine." An eruption of black sand exploded from him. It propelled me off of him, and eroded my weapons.
Snarling like a demon I threw away my duds, and pulled out new weapons. I then shook off my appearance as if it were ash. I pulled Mini-me who had retreated back into my head and made her full size. I handed her a sword.
"Defend yourself."
"We might need more than just me," she said.
"Already tried that, you're all I got."
"Fair enough." Then we got attacked by a ton of Nightmares that came out of the sand.
I shot and hacked away at them the best I could. Mini-me did her best with the sword. I once had to cover her with my whip, and then quickly switch back to defending myself. In the middle of fighting I realized that no one had Pitch's six. I looked around frantically, while defending myself at the same time. Once I had located him, I saw an arrow being launched in our general direction. Which one was it going to hit, probably me, but did he know which one was me?!
He did, probably because of me being the most versatile in my attacks. Just before it hit me though, Mini-me appeared right in front of me to take it. In my shock, I let out an ear piercing shriek which caused the nightmares around us to explode. I then gently lowered Mini-me to the ground.
"What will I do with you?" said Mini-me, out of breath, the sand seeping through her.
"This isn't happening again," I told her. "I won't let it."
I put my hand on the wound. I focused on all the reasons I had to be happy and unafraid of my future. My hand glowed. I focused on pulling all the dark sand out of my friend.
The sand felt cold, not a welcome nippiness I felt with Jack, but one of despair and fear. My glow flickered as I sucked the sand out. I felt the power of this sand and how overwhelming it was, but I focused on healing Mini-me. It got hard to breathe at times and I started to shake, but I managed to get all the sand out of her. She wouldn't be disappearing any time soon.
I started to cough; battling the sand directly took a lot out of me. I think it was hard mainly because I was scared of losing her again. I was surrounded by a wall of dark sand, and Pitch towered over me with his scythe near my face. I sent Mini-me back within my head. I needed to shake off this bad feeling so I could fight again, but Pitch had me cornered.
"Game over, Ema," said Pitch as I glared back at him.
What did I say about Cliffhangers! If any of you know writing you know she's going to be fine, but how will she get out of this?! I still have a bit of the fight left to go. Who knows? Maybe I'll make the next chapter longer. Tell me what you think so far in reviews and until then, Stay Tuned!
