Finally coming back to this again. Sorry about that I've been very busy. There has been a lot of crescendos and valleys in this climax of mine. Now it's time for another valley, this a bit of a quiet moment before things get hectic again. At least I'm giving our heroes a break, right...right. Man, I feel like I'm tormenting you, especially with the chapters not being very long. Anyway, onto the getaway! Enjoy!

"OH CRUD!" I yelled out as I saw the nightmares approaching. Jack and I immediately got surrounded by a ball of crud (that's spittle and grass in laymen's terms). The nightmares that looked like us were shooting up to meet us because we flew up so fast, but I had also noticed that they had changed their tune from copying us to attacking us.

"That's a bit gross, Ema," said Jack.

"You're right," I chuckled, "it is." I snapped my fingers and it popped, which reminded me of the nightmares coming toward us. "OH SHOOT!" Well, I couldn't, because I nearly tapped.

Arrows did however come out of nowhere shooting them all down.

Cupid sure looked smug, "Don't mind if I do," she said.

"This means nothing," I yelled out when we glided past.

"I was saving Jack more than you," said Cupid, "but I will be holding this over you from now on."

"SHUT UP!" I yelled. I groaned in frustration as we continued to fall.

"So Ema," said Jack. "How are we going to land?"

"I was hoping you can come up with something, Jack, because I have nothing."

"Nothing?"

"Pretty much," I sheepishly grinned. "I'm nearly tapped. Escaping took a lot out of me. Even if I did have a plan I probably wouldn't be able to do anything with it. Oh, some clouds might be nice to land on!" As I said that, wisps of clouds passed us. "See my point."

"Now you tell me," said Jack. He swapped our positions so that he was grabbing onto me instead, and he called forth the winds to try to keep us aloft. We were still descending though, slowly but surely.

"Ema!" I heard someone call my name, it sounded like Kayla. Before we made it to the ground, some fluffy clouds came up to meet us and carry us down. "Ema, you're okay!" she said.

"I'm proud of you," I said to her half out of it. "I take it you did you best to fight the fear of Pitch's Halloween."

"Yeah, me and my friends did, it was all thanks to the brushes you gave us."

I looked at Bunnymund who was marching toward us. "I shared my powers with them; you're welcome. I did my part of protecting everyone this holiday." Jack was getting defensive.

"Take it easy there, Bunny," he begged. Bunnymund didn't care, he picked me up by my shoulders.

"YOU! What are ya doing, giving us heart attacks every other day?" He was shaking me now.

"We thought yoose was dead you bloody illusionist! Turns out yer alive; hooray! Then yoose go and get yerself trapped by Pitch, and we nearly kill ye several times over! That's what you get fer striking out on yer own mate! Never again! Honesty, you blighter, why does it feel like we have to babysit you?"

"Sorry, sorry," I said. "I'm sorry, I mean it, I'm sorry, it won't happen again, maybe."

Bunny glared. "Be honest with me Fay!"

"I don't know! I am sorry about this," I said. "Getting Jack and myself out of that prison took a lot out of me. Until I get my strength back I can't fight."

"You lost all of your powers?" asked Kayla.

"Not all of them, too powerful for that," I said. I threw out some colors with trumpets to emphasize my point. "Yet I'm too strained to shoot a bow right now."

"What about you, Jack?" asked Bunnymund.

"I only helped with the escape; I have more power than she does."

"The nightmares are still out there," said Pitch. "It's why the other guardians haven't met up with us yet. Then there is that," said Bunny, pointing to the remains of the sand tornado, shifting around to form a new shape: a giant Pitch Black. "We could really use your powers right about now."

I grabbed Kayla's hand, clasping her brush. "Imagine you and your friends have some way to communicate."

"Can these work long distance?" asked Kayla.

"They should, since your friends have my power too, if not…I'm giving them that power right now." Kayla closed her eyes, and then opened them and started painting. She painted two circles, and in doing so she opened up windows to where each of her friends were.

"Guys," said Kayla. "Ema's alright!" I waved through the windows.

"We noticed," said the warrior.

"We saw," said the doctor.

"Yes, but she can't fight right now," said Kayla. "She spent most of her power in escaping."

"What!?" said the Tooth fairy who came into view. "That's terrible, Ema!"

"Ema, this very bad news," said North who came into the doctor's window.

"I'll be fine guys, I can recuperate for a bit, you guys can go on without me." I turned a shade of white and everyone looked at me blank faced.

"Crikey, we're the middle of a battle," said Bunny.

"Pitch has already captured you once," said Tooth.

"Nightmares are everywhere," said North.

"Pitch will destroy you if he can," said Jack.

"If he finds out you're powerless…" said Kayla.

"Near powerless," I corrected.

"Helpless…he'll…"

"Never fear," said a small voice, on multiple ends. We looked down; it was the groundhog who had happened to show up.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"Consider it my atonement," he said. "I'm sorry for the trouble I caused you. Let me make it up to you."

"How can you help?" asked Jack.

"Do you know my center? It's hiding, patience, waiting, I'm all about that; let me buy you time, help you hide."

"No offense, but how are you going to help me?"

"I've recruited all of my fellow holiday groundhogs to help me. We'll keep the nightmares at bay; we'll make tunnel traps for them."

"It seems small," said Bunny. "But it might be effective."

"Alright," I said hesitatingly. "What about Cupid and Sandman?"

"Sandy?" said North. "He already fighting big sand Pitch. You see his ship?"

Sure enough, Sandy's ship was circling the giant sand Pitch, probably attacking him with whips and sand cannons.

"Cupid's probably with him," said Tooth.

"Okay," I said. "You guys go knock him around for me. I'll join you when I can."

"Right, "said everyone, Kayla's friends cut out.

"You better recover fast, you hear me," said Bunnymund, making a tunnel and jumping into it. I gave him a thumbs up.

"I'll see you out there," said Jack, flying off.

"I'm surprised he can keep fighting," I said. I turned to the groundhog. "First Cupid and now you, why are you coming and how'd you know to come here?"

"Someone told us where and that you were in trouble, and what was going on."

"Who? How'd they know?"

"The other groundhogs have already deployed, I've gotta go." He said, burrowing away.

"Answer that question later then," I said. "You should go too Kayla," I told her.

"No, I wanna stay and protect you."

"I'm not completely helpless," I said, turning white.

"You do that when you lie don't you?" I can't believe she saw through that so fast, I'm getting rusty.

"I can't protect you if he comes after me."

"Who's going to protect you?"

"I can't ask you to protect me," I said.

"I have your powers on me, I'll be fine." I grew a bit pale. I knew Pitch was after her and me; I didn't want him to get both of us at once. Then again she would be in danger no matter where she went, probably more danger up at the front. Eh, it was her choice where to go.

"Alright, let's go," I said getting on the cloud and pulling her onto it. "Best not to be out in the open."

Jack and Ema are done for right now, and now it's time for Ema and Kayla, of course Ema has no powers. Look I can't give her everything all right. Also, I never really went into the groundhog's center before. I figured it would be patience, because kids (through growing) achieve things slowly, and he signifies waiting 6 weeks for something. His job also involves hiding away, so he would know everything about that much like how Ema knows everything illusion based. What would his powers be, probably groundhog based, popping out of tunnels and creating them. How would the nightmares get trapped in his little tunnels, that's the magic of it. They are foot holes, and so they will act like them. He wants them trapped and so they will be trapped. Since he's not the only groundhog in the world, so I said he would have contact with all of them. Part of the fun of writing this fanfiction is writing the powers and centers of everyone else. Anyways, stay tuned for the next chapter, until then!
