Reminiscence

Narcissa sat in the library of Malfoy Manor, a glass of red wine in her hand. She had always loved this room, with its high ceilings and bookshelves lining the walls. It was a place of comfort for her, a sanctuary where she could be alone with her thoughts.

Her mind drifted back to the years after the war, and she couldn't help but smile. Her marriage to Lucius had been over, finally. He was a vile, abusive man, full of his own self-importance. She had never loved him, hell she never even liked men in that way. But now, she was free to live her life the way she had always planned before her arranged marriage.

She had thrown herself into her studies, working towards a Potions mastery. It had been hard work, but also fulfilling. She loved the art of potion-making, the way that the ingredients could be combined to create something powerful and life-changing.

And then there was Draco. She was so proud of her little dragon, of how he had moved past the trauma of his youth. She had always known that Lucius was a terrible influence on their son, but she had never been able to do anything about it. Now, though, Draco had escaped the biases and lessons ingrained in him by his father. Beliefs that she herself had never believed in.

She was grateful that he had become good friends with Harry Potter and Hermione Granger. She knew that he still struggled with his past, with the things he had done and the things he had seen. But he was making progress, with the help of those friendships, and that was all that mattered.

Narcissa took a sip of her wine and sighed. Her thoughts turned melancholy and shifted to the tragedies that had befallen her family, the Noble and Ancient House of Black. The wars with Voldemort and the belief in blood purity had decimated the Blacks, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.

It had started with the disowning of her sister Andromeda, who had simply fallen in love with a muggle-born wizard. The family's response had been to blast her off the family tree, and Narcissa had been much too young and helpless to do anything to prevent it. She could only watch as her sister was cast out of their lives, and her family was forever changed.

Then there was the almost tragic tale of her cousin Sirius, who had also been disowned for standing up for his beliefs and fighting on the right side of the war. He had been wrongly accused and sentenced to Azkaban, where he spent thirteen years of his life for a crime that Narcissa knew Peter Pettigrew had committed, and finally, he had been killed during the Battle of the Department of Mysteries. While she had limited opportunity to interact with him after she left Hogwarts, his death had been a shock, and she mourned him deeply.

Next had come the death of her niece, Nymphadora. She had been unable to know her in life, but had learned more about the amazing Auror whose life was cut too short. Tonks had been brave, and she had fought for what was right. In the end, it wasn't enough.

And finally, the death of her sister Bellatrix, who had been so different in her youth than what she had become at the end. Bellatrix had been her sister, her closest confidante, and her greatest ally. Bellatrix had always been larger than life, even in her youth. She had been wild, fierce, intelligent, mischievous, and always pushing the boundaries of what was acceptable for a pureblood female. Narcissa had loved her sister then, but by the end she could barely recognize her. Bellatrix had become so consumed with her beliefs and her allegiance to Voldemort that she had lost herself entirely.

Narcissa couldn't help but be haunted by the memory of Bellatrix's death at the hand of Molly Weasley. She remembers watching in horror as Bellatrix, dueled against Molly. The two women were surprisingly evenly matched, with spells and curses flying back and forth between them. Narcissa's heart raced as she witnessed Bellatrix's manic laughter and taunting, knowing that her sister could be reckless and cruel in her obsession with serving Lord Voldemort.

When Molly Weasley unleashed a powerful spell that caught Bellatrix off guard. Narcissa remembered how Bellatrix's eyes widened in shock when the spell that struck her squarely in the chest caused her to stagger backward. Most people assumed that the shock was due to Molly successfully beating her and realizing her death was imminent, but Narcissa knew better.

As a natural legilimens, she had heard Bellatrix's thoughts at that exact moment. Instead of shock, Bellatrix had been utterly confused about what was going on, wondering how she had gotten there and why she was fighting. It was clear that she was not in control of herself, that an outside force had been driving her actions. But what force? And why had Bellatrix succumbed to it?

Narcissa had never spoken of this to anyone, not even Draco. It was a secret that she kept close to her heart, it was a mystery that haunted Narcissa, one that she was determined to solve.

Shaking off her spiraling thoughts, Narcissa's attention was drawn to the evening edition of the Daily Prophet, sitting on the table. A picture of Hermione and Ron at a Ministry gala caught her eye, and she couldn't help but notice the forced smile on Hermione's face and the possessive grip that Ron had on her.

It reminded her of pictures that used to run with her and Lucius, and the memory made her stomach turn. She picked up the paper and began to read the article. As she read, her frown deepened.

Unveiling the Machiavellian Schemes of the War Hero's Conniving Partner

By Rita Skeeter

The Wizarding world has always been fascinated by the romantic lives of its heroes, and none more so than the tumultuous relationship between beloved war hero Ron Weasley and the conniving Hermione Granger. These two have been a subject of much gossip and speculation since they first entered Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

After the Battle of Hogwarts, Ron and Hermione finally got together, much to the delight of their fans. However, it is clear that Hermione is still up to her old tricks.

Recently, there was at a Ministry Gala held to raise money for war orphans, and it was quite the spectacle. Many famous wizards were in attendance, including Ron and Hermione. When I caught up with some of the attendees, they revealed that Hermione has completed her Masteries and is now looking for a job. The clever witch was overheard discussing her post-graduation plans with various influential wizards and witches, leaving many to speculate that she is once again seeking to manipulate her way to the top. Some have even gone so far as to say that she is trying to infiltrate the Ministry of Magic and is using Ron's connections to further her own ambitions.

It's no secret that Hermione is a brilliant witch, but she has been known to use her intelligence and cunning to get what she wants, even if it means stepping on others to do so. Of course, we all know that Hermione has a history of manipulating famous wizards. Remember when she ensnared Victor Krum during the Tri-Wizard tournament? And who could forget her attempt to seduce Harry Potter himself? And, it seems that Ron is the latest victim of her Machiavellian ways.

It's a shame really, as Ron is a kind-hearted and loyal wizard who deserves someone who loves him for who he is, not for what he can do for them. But, I suppose that's the way things go in the Wizarding world, where fame and power often trump love and loyalty.

So, it remains to be seen what Hermione's post-graduation plans will be and whether she will continue to use Ron to further her own ambitions. As for Ron Weasley, well, perhaps it's time for him to wake up and smell the veritaserum.

Narcissa noted that it was written by Rita Skeeter, a pest of a journalist known for her sensationalist and often inaccurate reporting. She scoffed and tossed the paper back onto the table. It was at that moment the floo in the library suddenly came to life.

Draco exited the floo, and Narcissa couldn't help but notice the worry in his eyes. She asked him how the party was. She listened intently as Draco spoke about his evening at Hermione's graduation party. She could tell that something was bothering him, and it didn't take long for him to bring up Ron's behavior.

"I just don't understand why he has to be so possessive," Draco said, shaking his head. "Hermione is an incredible and brilliant woman, and she has plans to start a business with her inventions. I can't imagine why he would try to hold her back like that."

Narcissa nodded in agreement, impressed by Hermione's determination to make her mark in the world. She had always admired the Gryffindor's intelligence and bravery, even if she had been forced to be on the opposite sides of the war. Truthfully, she also admired the young woman's beauty but that was a thought for another time.

As she listened to Draco, a thought occurred to her. Maybe Hermione could help her investigate the mystery surrounding Bellatrix. After all, Hermione had an exceptional mind, and she had a knack for uncovering secrets.

"Draco, do you think it would be possible to talk to Hermione about her plans for her business?" Narcissa asked, trying to sound casual.

Draco looked at her quizzically. "Why do you want to know about her business plans, Mother?"

Narcissa hesitated for a moment before deciding to be honest. "I was thinking that maybe she could help me with something. Something that's been bothering me for a while now."

Draco raised an eyebrow. "What is it?"

Narcissa took a deep breath before revealing her secret. "I want to investigate what happened to Bellatrix. I think there's more to how she ended up the way she did than meets the eye, and I was hoping that Hermione might be able to help discover what happened."

Draco's eyes widened in surprise. "You think Hermione can help with that?"

Narcissa nodded, feeling a sense of hope. "Yes, she's incredibly smart and resourceful. And she's always been interested in the truth."

Draco frowned, deep in thought. "I don't know, Mother. It's a risky thing to investigate. You know the vehemence of the wizarding world's opinion on Bellatrix, his most loyal servant. And what if others find out? We have worked hard to distance ourselves from all that has happened. Associating ourselves even tangentially with death easters again, well it could be dangerous."

"I understand your concerns, Draco. But I can't let this go. I need to know what happened to her. And if there's even a chance that Hermione can help, I have to try."

Draco looked at her for a moment before nodding slowly. "Okay, Mother. I'll support you however you need."

Narcissa smiled gratefully at her son. "Thank you, Draco. I knew I could count on you."

As Draco excused himself to go to bed, Narcissa made up her mind. She would reach out to Hermione and set up a business meeting, under the guise of discussing her inventions. And once they were alone, she would broach the subject of Bellatrix.

She walked over to her writing desk and pulled out a piece of parchment, quickly penning a note to Hermione.

Dear Hermione,

I hope this letter finds you well. I wanted to set up a meeting with you to discuss your inventions and your plans for your business. I'm very interested in what you're doing, and I think we could be mutually beneficial to each other.

Please let me know when would be a good time for us to meet. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Narcissa Black

Narcissa read the letter over, then sealed it in an envelope and addressed it to Hermione and sent it off with her owl.

She went to bed, her mind racing with the possibilities of what they might uncover. She knew that it wouldn't be easy, that it might even be dangerous. But she was willing to take that risk. For the memory of her sister, she would do anything.
