290 AC
Years have come and gone since the failed rebellion. The kingdoms were still recovering, and the mad king still ruled with a mighty fist. Robert was still a free man and Stannis now ruled the Stormlands. Even while the kingdoms were healing, there still was a nervous feeling going around. A lot of the kingdoms were still on edge with the mad king still ruling and burning people. Going through the years worried about his actions, weighed heavily on everyone to the point of rebellion being thought of more often. After all, they don't dragons anymore. They are what rose and kept them in power. Now they were just riding on the curtails of their ancestors.
Life within the Kings Landing had changed since the rebellion. Elia with her children Aegon and Rhaenys still lived there but over the years became not as relevant over the years to King Aerys. He still used them against Rhaegar, but his focus was on oddly enough Viserys and Visenya. With Rhaella busy taking care of and raising Daenerys, it gave Aerys the opportunity to model Viserys to his liking. Something he failed to do with Rhaegar. With Visenya he saw the past become the present. He had the goal to make her become like the Visenya Queen-sister to Aegon the Conqueror. But things did not go as plan.
Pressuring and abusing her when she didn't do things the way he wanted made him give up on her. She was nothing special, so he shoes her away. Viserys was something different though. He had a evil streak growing and becoming more cruel. He loved it even more when he messed with people. He had thoughts to setting aside Rhaegar and making him his heir.
Visenya was brought up miserable. Never in control of her future or anything about herself. Constantly abused by King Aerys and at times Viserys. Forced to train while young by the King with weapons to be like the Queen of the past and then stopped when she wasn't making as much process as he wanted. Being ignored at best by some and at worst hated for she is blamed for the reason the war happened. Even the Targaryen side of the family didn't bother with her. So she did the only thing that was available to do as a woman in her times.
Learn.
She had spent years now learning from the ancient library within the castle. When she wasn't learning she trained in private. How did she train when she was set aside? Two young squires for Kingsguard's. They were twins and only a few years older than her. Aidin and Doron Blackwood. Black hair with black eyes, with a fair skin complexion. They were also quite tall for their age and still growing. They were brought in to be trained to be her personal guards for when she became King Aerys Visenya. But when that plan was no more, they still continue to have them trained to be her guards. They will have their uses for her protection. She still somewhat represents the Targaryen's.
It still hurt that her father or mother (Elia) never show any care for her. They only concern themselves with her half siblings. Her grandmother only cared for Daenerys and to try to stop Aerys influence over Viserys. It eventually evolved to the point that the King wanted her gone from Kings Landing. So, he sent his failure Princess Visenya the Unwanted Failure to Dragonstone. Where she will stay to rot away and fade from people's thoughts.
This was something she didn't mind. She got away from the corrupted capital and was allowed to keep learning and training there. More openly and freely. Some family members would come to Dragonstone for a short stay, but they always ignored her. With this much free time she could explore the history of Dragonstone.
Now
Walking down the stairs wearing a simple black dress was a young girl known as Visenya. With long white hair waving through the air, she kept her violet eyes on the two men in black armor waiting for her at the end of the stairs. Her two most trusted friends and Guards, Aidin and Doron have grown over time. She expected them to be as big as the mountain when they reach maturity. That would be a sight to see. While no longer being trained by Kingsguard's they still kept up their training. And them training her.
"Off to the caves again, my princess" started Aidin making her role her eyes at him.
"How many times do I have to tell you to call me Visenya, when it's just us?"
"Hmmmmm. One more time" he smiled as Doran laughed as she groaned at him.
"Come along my knights. Mommy wants to go exploring" she finished walking along. She could hear them chuckling as they followed her. Whispering about the fact that she calls herself their mommy when they are older.
They were used to that by now and now they were used to her exploration of the caves. The caves that the dragons of the old used when they were alive and free in these lands. A lot of them caved in through old age but others were in decent condition.
Upon approaching the cave, they saw a small group of workers sitting by with tools waiting for them. The three approached them and two stopped while Doron continued on and hand them a bag of coins. Grabbing the coins, the group happily went to work digging in the cave ins.
"Any news from the outside world?" she asked watching the men go to dig.
"There are reports of raids on merchant ships have come in" stated Aidin.
"Pirates?" she questioned.
"So, they say. But the unspoken answer is the Ironborn."
"And the King's reaction?"
"He simply does not care. The small council want to send ships to confirm who is doing this and see if action needs to be taken. But King Aerys says no. The dragon does not concern itself with the opinions or needs of the sheep" he finished.
Placing her hand on her chin she thought about this situation. If it truly is the Ironborn, and they were attacking ships. They were probably testing the waters. Maybe seeing what they could get away with. If no one takes any sort of action, they will hit a big target. The kingdoms are not in good shape and very much divided right now. The question is, what would they hit? Something she spoke to the others to which made them think on it as well.
"Depends on who's leading them, and their goal are honestly" spoke Doron.
That is Balon Greyjoy. If he wants independence then the best way to gain independence is to take out the most threatening fleet to reach him. Stormlands already hate the crown so their fleet would be reluctant to assist. That goes with the North, Vale, and Riverlands as well. The Reach while supporting the crown, don't have a fleet that's in any way a threat to them. The only fleets the crown has is the fleet at King's Landing and the Lannister fleet.
"They are going to attack the Lannister fleet" she answered making them look at her. "It's the only fleet that can change them. The king won't allow his fleet to go anywhere. So it leaves just them for a threat. Once that fleet is gone, they will have the freedom to pick their targets until the kingdoms come together to put them down. Something that would happen slowly due to the strained ties.
The Ironborn will have a lot of time to raid and pillage before they act and even then, there numbers haven't depleted. They didn't take any part in the rebellion. They would have a strong army and navy" she finished making them look at her wide eye.
They knew that she studied a lot and this just proves it. She's gotten all that just from the little bit of information they gave her and the current events of the kingdoms. The true makings of a leader if anyone actually let her lead.
"Are you going to warn them?"
"No point. They won't listen to me and by the time word is passed to them from me it would be too late. They probably making their move right now or done it already. The Lannister port is very close to them. They would also raid and attack any other nearby ports. I'm not worried about Dragonstone. We will be safe being on the other side. To get to us, you would have to move pass the fleets at the Stormlands, King's Landing, and Dorne. Something they won't allow to happen-"
"-princess! A opening" shouted a worker interrupting her. Hearing the call, she walked with her guards following after her. Hopefully this opening would provide some interesting discovery unlike the other ones they re opened. Just old bones and broken eggs.
Lannisport
Leagues away from Dragonstone, what the group of three were talking about had come to past. The Lannister fleet was in ruins. Burning or sinking to the debts of the sea. The port itself was alit with flames that could be seen a league away. Screams of pain and horror constantly echoed throughout the port as it's citizens and defenders were being slain.
Leading this unprovoked attack was no other than Euron and Victarion Greyjoy. Their massive fleet had snuck up on the ported fleet and wiped them out. They stood no chance of defending against such a attack. They might have stand a better chance if they left a few ships out patrolling while the main fleet was docked. But that chance was low due to the sheer number of ships they had. Having years to prepare and build up their forces with no one watching made them have a combine force of two fleets worth a bit over a hundred ships each. One that each brother commanded.
Victarion standing on the land itself, watched as his men raided the port. Killing men left and right, while capturing any kids or woman to be slaves and salt wives. He knew the plan his brother Balon created, and it was a sound plan. Him and his brother Euron were to attack the strongest fleet in the area and then perform a set of raids along the coasts.
While other Houses like the Harlaw tried to convince his brother to hold off on the rebellion, he still carried on. What he and Euron did convince him to do was to hire sellswords which did push the rebellion back a couple of moons. The brothers would spilt their fleet to cause more havoc while under the leadership of Maron Greyjoy and trusted commanders, would raid deep into the lands. Their army would cut a path of blood straight through the lands. Being attacked from different sides will help secure their place as independent of the other kingdoms.
"Hurry up! We need to get moving to our next targets!" he hollered upon seeing all of Maron's men already disembarking and moving out. They had to get out of the reach of the Lannister army before they assembled. Tywin will not take this slight against him well. Best to keep the man constantly reacting instead of counteracting.
With Euron's part done, he could see his fleet moving down south. While the purpose of his fleet was to raid and defend, he knew Euron was going to search for more than that. He wanted to make a name for himself. Glory and power. He saw him talking to Maron before they separated. They were planning something within this rebellion. Whatever it was he needed to be a step ahead of them or it will be all of their heads. He didn't want to end up like Robert Baratheon and flee to Esso. For now, his spies will have to do. His fleet needed to head north to the Riverlands. They had a few areas for raiding and once he was done there, then it's the North.
