Chapter 19 – Beginning

"You're good. But not that good.", Mara Jade heard her opponent say. She was lying on the ground, in front of her was a woman in mandalorian armour. She was of average height and slim appearance. Her face was hidden behind her helmet, with an older jetpack on her back. Her armour itself looked different from traditional mandalorian armour, it resembled something she had seen in the archives on Coruscant. Due to this Mara was truly vary. Through the force she had felt something odd about this woman. Originally, she was sought by this woman looking for information about a man named – Tarre Viszla. Due to the odd feeling Mara was getting, coupled with the fact this mandalorian was just too quick to violence, the former sith assassin reacted in kind. But even with her abilities, she could not land a single blow. So, she ran, but was pursued. In the end, she ended up in the alley with a blaster shot piercing her leg.

"Now answer my question. Do you know a man named Tarre Viszla?", the woman asked.

In desperation, Mara choked her through the force, and as she began another blaster bolt pierced her hand. But she could not determine the source.

"I'll say this again. You're good, but I have battled sith far stronger than you. You've got nothing on them.", came the cold reply.

Reluctantly Mara answered her question.

On the forest planet in the unknown regions of Midgard, the Ghost crew and the hunters sent by Ygritte were facing the Balrog and the army of werewolves. Technically, it was Tarre who was fighting the Balrog, Hera piloting the Ghost, while Sabine and Zeb shot at the great devil distracting him. The rest were fighting the ground forces.

The Balrog used his whip on the Ghost, but at the last moment its head was struck by Mjolnir, pushing it to the ground. Tarre used this opportunity to quickly grab Ezra and Ava freeing them. Teleporting them inside the ship, Tarre ordered the rest to board the Ghost immediately while he kept the wolves busy. It was not easy, but after some very grueling minutes, all members were in the Ghost. As they were leaving Tarre used Thor's power to call down a massive storm on them, killing the possessed wolves and destroying the enemy facility below.

"Fenrir is not here, neither is your prey.", Tarre informed them and addressed the hunters.

"Preparing for hyperspace.", Hera responded to which everyone nodded. Sabine and Zeb had taken Ezra and Ava inside the living quarters, while two of the hunters went with them. As the ship was about to enter hyperspace, a warning shot out through the force, and the hammer held by Tarre dropped. Looking towards the hammer, Kanan and Ahsoka saw Tarre disappear in front of their eyes, and at that very moment the Ghost entered hyperspace.

"You're not focusing.", Ezra heard Kanan's voice as he was pelted with trash. The first time he held a lightsaber only to be humiliated by Chopper and Zeb. He could hear Kanan sigh. As he opened his eye, he saw Chopper hurl multiple trash bottles at him. He blocked one of them successfully, while the rest pushed him of the Ghost. As he was falling, he saw her. To be precise, he had seen Sabine many times before, each time he was smitten. This time however he saw concern flash in her eyes, yet he gave her a smug smile as he slipped and fell.

It had been a difficult day for Ezra. His Birthday/Empire Day always reminded him of the loss of his parents. Coupled with Tseebo's return and the ordeal he faced with Kanan on the rock with the beasts in the dark had left him weak, spent physically and emotionally. It looked like Hera wanted to say something to him, but Kanan stopped her. So, he went and sat in the nose gun wishing to be left alone. A while later she came, and gave him the best birthday gift he could wish for. A picture of his parents and himself. It reminded him of when he had a family, and made him realize that he had a new family. Content, he smiled and closed his eyes again.

Opening his eyes, Ezra saw another familiar site. He was helping Sabine paint her new masterpiece, the Tie fighter he and Zeb had stolen. She was standing on his shoulders to paint a portion of the Tie that was out of her reach. She mumbled something about wanting a jetpack. Later she asked him, "Can't Jedi use the force to lift others?"

"My Jedi training has just begun.", Ezra replied.

She was about to say something before losing her footing. They both ended up falling. Ezra closed his eyes again.

It was a nightmare, one reminiscent of Malachor. Sabine and Kanan were possessed and Ezra blamed himself. After Maul left, he re-entered the cave heading towards the altar. He could feel the spirit possessing Sabine behind him. Turning back, he saw her beautiful face with those glowing green eyes. In her hands was the unfamiliar saber, that Maul didn't want Ezra to touch. Somehow, he got Sabine free by pushing her out of the cave, freeing her from the spirit's hold.

With Zeb's help Sabine laid down Ezra and Ava on the bunk beds. The two hunters behind them examined Ezra and Ava. They both left the room, ignoring Sabine and Zeb's questions about the conditions of their compatriots.

"Where is Tarre?", Sabine said in a worrisome tone.

"I'll go see what's keeping him.", Zeb said and exited the room. Exiting he saw Kanan and Ahsoka standing near the dropped Mjolnir wondering what had happened. The five huntresses were standing in a circle whispering something to each other.

"Where's Tarre?", Zeb asked.

"He disappeared.", Kanan answered.

"He was taken.", said the leader of the huntresses.

"By whom?", Ahsoka asked.

"The Balrog.", she answered as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "We will be leaving now. Our prey has gotten far away. We don't want to lose her scent." Just moments later the five disappeared as well, before anyone could protest.

At that moment Hera came out of the cockpit, having clearly heard everything. Everyone looked tensed and confused.

"I can't reach Heimdall. I have set a course for Shili. We know that Gabriel and Rayleigh are there. They would know how to heal Ezra and Ava.", Hera spoke breaking the tension.

Suspended in a cage was Fenrir lord of all wolves. He had felt the presence of that bitch around Ezra and Ava, and was chanting powerful magic to protect him, magic taught by his father Loki. Fenrir felt a malevolent presence, draining his life force. Yet he didn't stop chanting. He saw a monster, a young dragonoid who was snarling at him. Fenrir, a god alpha would have been able to defeat this enemy with relative ease, but due to his present circumstances could do nothing against this adversary.

The door to the prison opened and Fenrir felt the presence of his father. Loki was here. He walked calmly towards the cage. Behind Loki was Heimdall. As the dragonoid snarled at the three, Loki spoke, "I have come for Fenrir and I will leave with him. Stand in my way and I will destroy you." The dragonoid launched towards Loki, sword in hand. Before he could even get close, Loki disintegrated him. Loki then carefully took Fenrir out of the cage. He and Heimdall then felt the malevolent presence manifesting itself.

Launching energy attacks at it, Heimdall spoke, "Beast King Kaido go back to your prison. Return and we will kill you." Their attacks pushed back Kaido's spirit to his prison in the world beyond the nine realms. Carrying an unconscious Fenrir in his arms Loki looked at Heimdall and nodded. Heimdall activated the Bifrost.
