"Dr Powell? Professor Darnell?" Tony asked in surprise..

"Tony, you haven't been in our classes in years. I think you can call us Joan and Elliot." Dr Powel laughed.

Tony chuckled. "Sorry. Old habits die hard."

"So Tony how have you been?" Elliot asked.

"I've been good. I teach history and am the baseball coach at Wells Junior college in Branford Iowa."

"Ah yes, that is a lovely school." Joan nodded approvingly.

Tony suddenly realized that Teresa was standing there watching the three of them. "Oh gee where are my manners? This is Teresa, my fiance. Teresa, this is Joan Powell and Elliot Darnell, a couple of my former professors."

"It's nice to meet you." Teresa smiled.

""You too" Joan smiled.

"Yes, a great pleasure." Elliot stated.

Tony was so shocked to see a couple of his former professors that he almost missed the fact that they were at the park together. But curiosity got the better of him.

"So, if this isn't any of my business just tell me but are the two of you dating?"

Joan nodded. "Yes, we have been for a while."

"That's great! You know you may not believe it but the two of you were some of my favorite professors."

Elliot chuckled "Oh really? That's strange considering your first day in both of our classes."

Tony laughed. "Yeah, both those days were a little stressful. Wait a minute did Joan tell you about us?" Tony asked nervously.

"Oh, you mean how you made a date with her then broke it off by pretending you had to go to Paris?" Elliot asked.

"And then how shocked you were when you showed up in my class and saw that I was your professor?" Joan laughed.

Tony nodded his face, turning a deep shade of red. "Yeah, that wasn't my best moment."

"No, it wasn't. But that's all in the past." Joan assured him.

"Yes, it is." Elliot agreed. "So Tony, how long are you here for?"

"A few more days then we're going back to Iowa."

"Well, if you're free tomorrow would you like to have lunch with Joan and me?"

"Sure, that sounds great."

"Okay then how about noon tomorrow at the student union?"

"Ah my old stamping grounds." Tony laughed. "Okay noon it is."

"We'll see you tomorrow then." Joan smiled. She turned to Teresa. "Have a good day."

"Yes, goodbye for now. See you tomorrow Tony." Elliot nodded at Teresa then he and Joan turned and walked away. Once they were out of earshot Joan grabbed Elliot by the arm.

"I know what you're up to."

"Oh really? And just what is that?"

Joan shot him an "oh please" look. "You didn't ask Tony to lunch to talk about old times and we both know it."

"Okay, fine you're right. I do have an ulterior motive. Are you saying you don't approve?"

"On the contrary. I think it is a great idea. Hopefully, Tony will too."

"Yes, hopefully he will."

"I guess we'll find out tomorrow."

Tony watched the two of them walk away then turned to Teresa, "Wow! That was weird. I mean running into two of my former professors."

"Yeah, I'm sure it was. Look Tony about before I know you're upset about me asking Angela about why she left you but I couldn't help but be curious. "

Tony rubbed his hand over his face "Okay, I probably overreacted when you told me. It's just that was in the past and I would like to keep it there."

"Okay, I understand." Teresa smiled.

"Hey Grandpa! Will you throw me the ball again?" Nicky yelled running up to them.

"Sure pal of mine! Let's do it!"

Angela, Mona, and Claire had been sitting watching Tony talking to Joan and Elliot. Angela recognized them and was curious about what was going on. She figured they were just talking about old times at Ridgemont.

"Angela? Do you know who those people were?"

"Yes, I do. They were a couple of Tony's former professors at Ridgemont."

"HMMM I wonder what they wanted?"

"They probably just wanted to talk about old times." Angela shrugged.

Mona nodded and they continued watching Tony, Jonathan, and Nicky play for a little while. Then Tony decided it was time for them to go. They walked back over to Angela, Mona, and Claire.

"Tony? That was a few of your former professors wasn't it?" Angela asked.

"Yeah, Dr Powell and Professor Darnell. They asked me to have lunch with them tomorrow."

"What about?" Mona asked.

Tony shrugged. 'I don't know. I would guess to talk about old times.. Okay Nicky say goodbye to everyone and then we have to go."

"Bye Grandma!" Nicky gave Angela a hug.

"Bye Sweetheart."

"Bye Nana Mona! Bye Auntie Claire!" Nicky gave them hugs as well.

"Bye kiddo!" Mona said.

Nicky turned to Jonathan. "Thanks for playing me Uncle Jonathan."

"Anytime buddy!"

While all this was going on Tony motioned for Angela to follow him a few feet away.

"UMMM Angela, there is something that I need to talk to you about. "

"Okay, what is it?"

"Well, I can't talk about it here. Would it be okay if I stopped by the house tomorrow afternoon after I have lunch with Dr Powell and Professor Darnell? OOPS I mean Joan and Elliot?"

"Sure, I'll be there."

"Okay thanks. I'll see you tomorrow then."

Tony smiled at her then walked back over to the rest of the group. He said his goodbyes to Mona, Jonathan, and Claire. Then Tony, Teresa, and Nicky walked away.

Mona walked over to where Angela was standing.

"What were you and Tony talking about?"

"He said there was something he needed to talk to me about. He's going to stop by the house tomorrow after he has lunch."

"Oh my God! He's going to tell you he still loves you and is going to dump Teresa!"

"Mother! " Angela shook her head.

"Oh, come on. Let me have my fantasy okay?" Mona pouted.

"Fine, have your little fantasy. Well I'm tired. I'm going to go."

"Yeah, let's blow this joint." They walked back over to Claire and Jonathan.

"So are we ready to go?" Mona asked them.

Jonathan yawned. "I know I am. I tell you running after a three year old sure wears you out."

They laughed at him then they all walked out of the park to their respective cars.

THE NEXT DAY:

Tony arrived at Ridgemont and walked over to the Student Union where Joan and Elliot were already waiting for him.

"Ah Tony ! There you are" Elliot stood up and they shook hands.

"Yes, thank you for inviting me." Tony smiled and sat down.

"Hello Joan."

"Hello Tony."

Elliot resumed his seat. "Tony, I'm afraid I asked you here under false pretenses"

"You did?"

"Yes, now I think you know me well enough to know that I don't beat around the bush."

Tony chuckled. "Yeah, you could say that."

"So, I'm not going to do that now. You see Tony, the fact of the matter is that I am no longer a Professor."

"You're not? Oh I get it. You're retired."

"No, he's not." Joan answered,

"You're not retired? Tony asked in confusion.

"No, I am in fact the new Dean of Ridgemont College.."

"You are? Wow, that's great! Congratulations!"

"Thank you Tony."

"Okay Elliot. Get to why you asked him here."

"Yes, my Dear. I was just about to." He turned back to Tony.

"You see Tony now that I am Dean I have a few issues that need to be addressed.

"Oh really? So what are they?"

"I would like to offer you a teaching and coaching position here."
