The entire living room was filled with pink roses.
"Tony! They're beautiful!" She kissed him on the cheek.
"No, you're beautiful." He smiled and walked over to the couch where he sat her down.
"So did you buy out the whole floral shop?" she laughed.
"Hey, only the best for my beautiful lady."
"You said beautiful twice."
"Always have. Always will."
They leaned in and gave each other a long and tender kiss.
"Tony?" she murmured.
"Yeah?"
'This is real right?"
He pulled back and looked in her eyes.
"It is. It is."
She laughed. "It's kind of hard to believe though."
"I know. I mean here we are on this couch and we're kissing on this couch."
She leaned in and gave him a peck on the lips.
"So, are you hungry? Or would you like some tea? Hey, how about a blanket?" he rambled off the questions to her.
Angela laughed. "Tony slow down. I don't need anything right now. Except.." she gave him a coy smile.
"Except…except what?" he asked, stroking her cheek.
"Well my feet are killing me…"
"Oh they are?"
"Yeah, they are. And there's only one way I know how to make them feel better."
"Angela?"
"HMMM?"
"It would be my pleasure. Now give me those lovely tootsies."
She smiled and kicked off her shoes and laid her feet across his lap.
"So, there's something I forgot to tell you."
"What?" she asked, lying back, her eyes closed in ecstasy. He hadn't lost his touch.
"Well Sam told me that Nicky is bugging her to come over and see you."
Angela smiled. "I would love to see him." She opened her eyes. "Maybe we could have them over later?"
"That sounds good. I'll call Sam in a little bit."
"Okay." There was something she wanted to ask him. But, she was a little hesitant. Which she knew was ridiculous. He loved her. She loved him. They loved each other. It was the next logical step.
"So Tony, I have something to ask you."
"Okay, what is it?"
"Well, I know you're staying here to take care of me and I also know that's the only reason and as soon as I'm better you're going to leave and go back to your apartment.."
"Angela, what exactly are you asking?"
"Well, I was just wondering if you would like to move back in here permanently?"
"Permanently huh?"
"Yeah, I mean it makes sense right? We're in love. We've lived together before. Unless of course you think it's a bad idea?" she asked.
"Actually, I think it's a terrific idea." he grinned.
"Really?"
"Absolutely."
"But, what about your apartment?"
"Well, I guess that won't be a problem because I haven't officially signed the lease."
"You haven't?"
"No, I was going to but then you well you…" he trailed off the memory of her accident and her being in a coma for a week still prevalent in his mind.
"I had my accident." she said softly.
"Yeah." he sighed.
"Tony?"
"What?"
"Look at me. I'm fine. "
"I know you are. I know. I just keep thinking about what could have happened."
"Tony, you think too much!" she teased.
He laughed. "Okay maybe you're right. You know it's so ironic."
"What?"
"Well, I was very close to signing the lease and then you had your accident. And now here I am staying here to take care of you and well I am technically homeless. " he looked at her with puppy dog eyes.
She laughed. "Okay, so you're moving back in?"
"I'm moving back in."
They gave each other a kiss.
"Now this is what I like to see. The two of you making out on the couch." Mona said entering the room in the uncanny ability she had.
"Hello Mother."
"Hello Dear. How are you feeling?"
"Better."
Mona sat down in the chair close to the kitchen.
"Mother aren't these roses beautiful?!" Angela gushed.
"Yes, they are. But the delivery man was even better."
"Mother!"
"Mona!"
They all laughed, reveling in the fact things were finally where they were supposed to be.
Tony and Angela were finally back together. All was right with the world.
"So how are things at work? What about the new campaign? Have you heard from Jack?" Angela rattled off the questions to Mona like rapid fire.
"Whoa Angela slow down!" Mona held out her hand. "First of all things are the same at work and they all send their love and best wishes. And I did get a hold of Jack. They are all working on the campaign."
"I should be there."
"Angela! You're supposed to be taking it easy. Now everyone at the agency knows what they're doing. You have a great staff."
"Listen to your Mother."
"I know. You're right. "
"Look if there is anything major Jack said he would call. Everything is under control."
"Yes, the only thing I want you to concentrate on is getting better." Tony informed her.
"Yes Sir!" Angela saluted him.
"Yes Sir?! I could get used to that." Tony smirked.
"I just bet you would," Angela smiled at him. Tony smiled back then they leaned in and began kissing completely forgetting Mona was there watching.
"AHEM!"
They continued kissing.
"AHEM!"
They continued kissing.
"Well I'm proud to see that you are completely engrossed in each other. So I will take my leave." Mona stood up. "But, please don't get too mushy. I still want to keep my food down." With that parting shot she left via the patio door.
They finally but reluctantly pulled away and Angela snuggled up to him lying her head on his chest. He wrapped his arms around her. They lied there for several moments, both of them content with the silence. After a few minutes Tony felt Angela looking at him.
"I think I'm going to go take a shower. I feel all icky."
"Ay Oh Oh Ay you are never icky!" Tony protested.
Angela smiled and kissed him on the cheek. "Thanks honey. But, I think a nice long warm shower is just what I need."
"Well then my lady, your wish is my command." He stood up and then scooped her up in his arms.
"Tony! " she laughed as he walked them over to the staircase. "Are you going to carry me around forever?"
He ascended the stairs. "Well what if I am?"
Her laugh tinkled in his ear like silver bells. He arrived at her bedroom door and stopped.
"Well here we are." she said nervously.
"Yeah." he cleared his throat.
"Tony? Why are we so nervous? You've been in my bedroom before. "
"Yeah, I know. But that was your old bedroom. This bedroom was-I mean is for us."
Angela nodded. This would be the first time he would be staying in their remodeled bedroom. The fact that it took years longer than they both thought wasn't lost on them. But the past was the past and all they wanted to do was look forward to the future.
Their future.
"Well there's no time like the present." Tony smiled and opened the door.
The room was just as beautiful as he remembered. The window seat and fireplace conveyed love and warmth. The walls had been repainted in a cream color. The carpet had been removed and replaced with hardwood covered with a large area rug swirled with various shades of green. The king size bed sat proudly where Tony all those years ago said it should go.
"It's just like I remembered." Tony smiled.
"Yeah." Angela said softly.
"You know I'm glad we remodeled the bathroom too." Tony said and placed her on her feet but still keeping his arm around her.
Angela smiled. After the bedroom had been done the next logical step had been the bathroom. The walls had been repainted in the same cream color as the bedroom and the floor was a soft gray hexagon tile. The tub and shower combo had been removed and replaced with a walk in shower and a claw foot tub. A two sink emerald green vanity with cream colored marble tops, gold faucets, and extra drawers for both completed the look.
"So, how about you take that shower and I'll go make you some lunch?"
"Don't you want to join me?" She gave him her cute girl pout.
He did. He definitely did. But he knew if he got in the shower with her….No, she was still recovering. He had to practice self control.
"Angela sweetheart there is nothing in the world I would rather do…"
"Okay then." she smiled.
"But! I can't. We can't not yet. You're still healing. I don't want to take any chances with your recovery." He kissed her hands.
Angela nodded. "I understand. I do. I just miss you. I mean I miss.. Well you know."
Tony chuckled. "Oh, so do I. And that is why I am going to leave now and let you take that shower. And when you're done I'll bring you up some lunch."
"Okay." They gave each other another kiss and Tony walked over to the open doorway.
"Angela?"
"Yeah?"
"I love you."
"I love you too."
They smiled at each other and Tony closed the door behind him.
They both looked at the closed door and sighed.
