Hi Readers: Sorry for restarting once more, but I think that this is the right start that I needed. But now, it's time for us to get back to celebrating Matt's birthday; and that starts with him having breakfast with his wife, but not his kids (yet).

Matt's First Birthday as a Father
Part Two: Morning

Casey Kitchen – Their kids were all still fast asleep, which was something that Matt and Gabby both only noticed once they were ready to go bring them downstairs for breakfast. But once they figured that out, Gabby had an idea; and that idea included letting them sleep. Letting them sleep in, and just going on with their day; and that's due to the fact that they ended up waking up a lot earlier than they expected, as did Matt's mom. It was actually only 8 am. And due to the fact that their sons didn't have the best sleep last night, they may sleep through the day, which made Gabby sad as she walked downstairs to see Matt making some coffee. "So, uhm; are we going to talk about what your mom just said?" Turning to face his wife as he filled up his cup of coffee, Matt snickered. "About how the kids may sleep longer than we expected today?" Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that. "I hate that." Matt was confused.

After all, what's so wrong with the kids sleeping some more. "Why do you hate that baby?" Gabby just looked at her husband as he asked her that, while also walking up to him and proceeding to grab the coffee that he made for them; after which, she wrapped her arm around him and smiled as she leaned up to kiss the man she loves softly. "You look very handsome." Matt smiled as he wrapped his arm around her and then proceeded to kiss Gabby again. "And you look great. But, the answer now." Gabby sighed. "Don't you want to be with the kids on your birthday?" Matt smiled. "I can be with them on my birthday still, but right now I want a breakfast date with my girl." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, as she still loves being called his girl.. "I swear, I will never get over you calling me your girl." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that. "Listen, go sit down…" Gabby shook her head as Matt said that.

As that most certainly was not going to happen, not on his birthday. "Not so fast mister. If you think that I'm going to sit down on your birthday, then you're crazy. If anybody's going to sit down, it's you. So, go do just that at the table over there." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that. "Plus, I want to make you something special. I found this nice pancake recipe that I already have ingredients ready for." Matt smirked as he heard Gabby say that, while walking over to the table that they have here. "Do you mind if I use my phone?" Gabby snickered. "Let me guess, you want to check your e-mails?" Matt bit his lip as he was trying to get something set up for Gabby, but he wanted to surprise her; then again, she does need to approve it at some point. "Yeah, I do. I've been working on a business deal." Turning her head, Gabby sighed. "You're lucky that we're in the middle of a pandemic." Matt sighed and looked at Gabby.

After which, he proceeded to tell her. "It's actually something for you." Gabby was a bit confused as she heard her husband say that, unsure of what he means. "What do you mean by that?" Matt smiled. "I'm in communication with the people that run ads in Times Square." Gabby was shocked as she heard her husband say that. "Sorry, say what now?" Matt agreed. "And I'm also in contact with the New York Taxi Company, seeing whether we can put Casey Apparel on there." Gabby was surprised as she heard her husband say that. "Wow, uhm…I have no idea what to say." Matt bit his lip. "You know what, it's a stupid idea." Gabby shook her head as she heard Matt say that, as she didn't want to hear that; she didn't want Matt to call it a stupid idea, as it wasn't a stupid idea. And that was something that she was going to tell her husband, as she made her way over to him. "Hey, just sit down and put your phone down."

Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, doing just that for her; meanwhile, Gabby walked up to her birthday boy and smiled as she sat down in his lap. And boy did Matt like that, which he showed Gabby by putting his hand on her leg and stroked it with his thumb. "Oh, now I like this." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before leaning in and kissing the man of her dreams softly. "Even on your birthday, you're trying to do something for me." Matt agreed with Gabby and smiled at her, while she leaned her forehead against his and just held him close; kissing her again, Matt smirked as he's really happy. "That's due to the fact that you're the woman I love, and I want to do stuff for you." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before putting her hand on the side of his face. "You are such a good husband, and I Hope you know that." Matt smirked as he went to grab her shirt. "Enough for a sneak peek?" Gabby was shocked.

After all, she didn't think that he knew about that. "How did you find out about that?" Matt smirked. "Oh, so you did go to Victoria's Secret." Gabby looked at him. "Wait, you…" Matt smirked. "Baby, I was just playing. I thought you were going to wear your lingerie." Gabby smiled. "I wanted to do something special for you." Matt smirked as he heard Gabby say that, before leaning up and kissing her once more. "I'm not worthy of you." Gabby smirked as she heard Matt say that, before kissing him again. "Maybe after our nice breakfast date, you can touch it." Matt smirked. "So, I guess that means that we're headed back to bed after breakfast?" Gabby agreed with her husband as they most certainly are, especially when they both want to relax; and due to the fact that the kids were tired. "I mean, like you said; the kids didn't sleep good last night, so we should just relax and take it easy in bed." Matt agreed and smiled.

"But the doesn't mean that you're going to get anything."

Matt snickered as he heard Gabby say that, while grabbing his coffee. "Last time I checked, I already gave you something this morning." Gabby smirked as she heard her birthday boy husband say that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, don't you know it." Matt smiled as he heard his gorgeous wife say that, before going to open his phone so that he could check his messages. The first one he got? An e-mail from Rafael Solano, the Senior Executive Vice-President, and Assistant Deputy CEO for the Hawaii Office.

Hi Matt:
I hope that the move back to Chicago is going well, and that you guys are safe and healthy. But at the same time, I also know that today is a special day for you; as it's your birthday. And that's why I'm writing to let you know that you don't need to worry about work today; just concentrate on enjoying your day and take it easy on your first birthday as a father. I remember doing that on my birthday with Matteo, and it was exactly what I needed. So, just take it easy and relax. Have a good day and take it easy with your kids.

Snickering, Matt smiled before speaking to Gabby as he continued to look at his phone. "Seems like I don't need to work today." Turning her head, Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "Who was the e-mail from?" Matt smiled as he looked up at his beautiful wife. "Rafael. He says that he's going to take care of everything today, and that I can just relax and take it easy." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, glad that was the case. "Good, because I think that's exactly what you need to do." Matt agreed with her, before smirking as he looked at Andy who was at the door; after which, he got up and smiled as he walked over. "You want to go outside bud?" Turning her head again, Gabby looked at Matt and Andy. "Let me guess, you haven't put him out yet." Matt snickered.

"I think I've been a bit too busy with somebody to have gotten the chance to do that."

Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, well aware that was the case as she watched Matt walk over to the door; after which, he proceeded to open it and look down at Andy. "Andy, go outside boy. Go to the washroom." Andy agreed before going to walk away so that he could go to the washroom. Meanwhile, Matt smirked at his gorgeous wife as she continued to make pancakes for him, which was when he decided that he was going to do something, and that was walk up behind his girl. Wrapping his arm around her shortly afterwards, Matt smirked as he tugged Gabby back against his chest and held her close to him while kissing her shoulder softly. "I hope you know that I'm really happy to be home." Putting her hand on Matt's arm, Gabby agreed as she felt the same way about it.

As much as she loved Hawaii, there's something about Chicago that will always be home to them. "Yeah, I know what you mean. I hate to admit this, but I think this was always going to happen." Matt snickered a bit as he heard Gabby say that and agreed with her before bending down and kissing her neck softly. But one thing he didn't expect to hear was the baby monitor. Because right now, there was a certain little lady crying out for him. And that was when he knew that he was going to need to do something, which was to feed one of the girls. But first, he needed to see which one it is. Grabbing the baby monitor, Matt looked and groaned. "Of course, it's her." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, well aware of what he was talking about. "I know, she likes to feed in my arms." Matt agreed.

"Well not today, because she's going to be a good girl and feed from her papa's arms today."

Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, before looking at him. "You changed again." Matt shrugged. "We have time, as the kids aren't talking; but right now, I am going to go get my little Bella. That way, she can cuddle up to daddy and get a nice feeding. I just hope that she behaves on my birthday." Turning her head, Gabby just laughed as she highly doubted that was going to happen. "Matt, she's going to just go back to sleep. Just feed her upstairs in the nursery. In fact, how about you just stay in bed like that? You can feed her, and you can also reply to that e-mail using your laptop." Matt smirked as he heard Gabby say that. "I'm not going to answer the e-mail, as there's no need to answer the e-mail." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, loving that idea; he needs the time off.

"Good, because you really do need the time off baby."

Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, well aware that was the case. "And that's exactly why I'm taking time off right now, because I need to take time off and just relax. I want to take it easy and concentrate on myself and my family." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "I swear, you are really turning me on and making me want to take off my shirt for you." Matt smirked as he heard Gabby say that. "I wouldn't be opposed to you doing that at all if it's my birthday gift." Gabby smirked as she heard Matt say that. "Can you just go up to our room and feed our daughter?" Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before walking away to do just that; while at the same time, he saw his mom come downstairs with Bella. "Oh, did you grab her mom?" Nancy agreed with her son and smiled.

"Let me guess, you were just on your way up to feed her?"

Matt smiled and agreed. "I guess I can go sit in the living room now?" Turning her head, Gabby smiled and agreed with Matt. "I love that idea. Maybe we can spend a bit of time down here and take it easy, before we go ahead and get all cuddled up in our room; plus, we're doing our breakfast date." Matt agreed with Gabby, and smiled at her as he walked up to his mom; after which, he picked Bella up in his arms and smiled as he held his baby girl close to him. "Hello my beautiful Bella. How's my princess doing today?" Moving her close to his chest, Matt proceeded to kiss her forehead softly as they both held each other; after which, Matt made his way over to the fridge so that he could grab a bottle of milk for his adorable (almost) four-month-old daughter. And that still amazes him today.

"Can you believe that the girls are almost four months old?"

Gabby smiled as Matt asked her if she can believe that the girls are almost four months old. "Oh, I can. And that's due to the fact that it hurt like hell to give birth to them!" Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, before smiling as he walked away to the living room so that he could feed Bella this morning; meanwhile, Nancy made her way over to Gabby to see whether she could help her. "Want some help?" Gabby agreed with Nancy. "I'd love some. Maybe first, you can bring Matt's coffee to him? He forgot it." Nancy agreed with her daughter-in-law as she said that, before walking over to her son's coffee to grab it. After which, she proceeded to carry it over to the coffee pot to top it up. "I'm just going to top it up." Gabby agreed with her mother-in-law, liking that idea.

"Sounds perfect, because I know that Matt loves his morning coffee."

Nancy smiled as she heard gabby say that, well aware that was the case; after all, he is a lot like her. "Trust me, I know. He's like me that way. Can't get his day started without coffee." Gabby snickered. "Or something else." Nancy laughed as she heard her daughter-in-law say that, well aware of just what she was talking about. "Sorry about that." Gabby agreed with her mother-in-law. "If you're going to live here Nancy, you can't do that." Nancy agreed. "I know, now I'm going to give this to Matt." Gabby agreed with Nancy once more, while watching her walk away so that she can give Matt his coffee; meanwhile, she turned her attention back towards the breakfast that she was making for Matt on his birthday. A breakfast they will both most certainly enjoy.

Casey Living Room – Walking into the living room with her son's coffee, Nancy Casey smiled at the sight of him holding his little girl in his arms as he fed her this morning. "Yeah, Bella likes it when daddy feeds her, doesn't she?" Just smiling at his little girl, Matt couldn't contain the joy that being a father gives him; that was, until he heard his mom. "Well, if this isn't a nice sight." Turning his head, Matt smiled as he looked at his mom. "Hi mom." Nancy agreed with her son as he said that, before extending his coffee out to him. "Here, this is your coffee; you forgot it." Matt agreed with his mom, before grabbing it; after which, he smiled as he set it down on the coffee table. "Thanks mom." Nancy agreed with her son, before taking a breath. "Listen, about this morning…" Matt sighed.

After all, that was something that they most certainly did have to talk about; the fact that she walked into their room. "Yeah, about this morning. Mom, are you serious?" Nancy agreed with her son as he said that, before making her way over to the couch so that she could sit down with him; after all, she wants to spend a bit of time with him as they share a coffee. "I promise, won't happen again. I learned my lesson." Matt snickered as he heard his mom say that, as he isn't going to keep her to that promise. "Oh mom, we both know that you're going to do it again." Nancy was about to argue, but she knew that she couldn't. "Yeah, I probably will." Matt agreed with his mom as she said that, before grabbing the bottle of milk for Bella once more; after which, he returned to feeding her.

"Yeah, there's my little princess. Getting exactly what she wants, a nice bottle of milk."

That's when Nancy realized something, maybe she should get Sofia. "Do you want me to get Sofia for you? I can feed her?" Matt bit his lip, before hearing Gabby. "Could you Nancy? I want to feed the girls at the same time." Matt agreed with Gabby, as he knows that's something that Gabby really wants to do. "Plus, you need to spend some time with her. We might be sticking in our room again. I'm tired." Nancy agreed with her son as he said that, well aware that's the case. "I know you've been under a lot of stress lately, especially with the pandemic and the business." Matt sighed, as he was trying not to think about the business. "Yeah, I'm trying to balance it all." Nancy agreed with her son as he said that, well aware that was the case as she got up and walked past him.

And while walking by, she put her hand on his shoulder and rubbed it as a way to ensure that he was okay; but at the same time, she knew that he wasn't okay…and that was why he needed some time. "Matt, don't feel like you need to stay down here after breakfast." Matt sighed. "We're going to have a breakfast date, me and Gabby; so maybe you can sit here and watch the girls for us?" Nancy smiled as she loved that idea, which is something that she most certainly can (and will) do for Matt. Bending down, she proceeded to kiss his cheek and smiled at him. "I promise to do just that." Matt agreed with his mother, smiling as she walked away to go get the boys; meanwhile, Gabby spoke to her as well. "Thanks Nancy, I love the idea. Sorry for keeping Matt in bed." Nancy shook her head.

"Nonsense, you guys need to take it easy and relax. Do what you need to do."

Gabby agreed with her mother-in-law as she said that, before going to hug her; after which, she returned to the kitchen so that she can keep making breakfast for her and Matt. After all, that's what they want. They want to have breakfast together. But while Gabby made breakfast, and Matt's mom went to get Sofia for them; Matt went ahead and replied to Rafael's e-mail, as he continued to feed Bella.

Hi Rafael:
The move back to Chicago went as smoothly as possible with four kids under the age of 1, but it's all okay and we are all happy here at home. We are doing well, and we are all safe and healthy. Thanks again for the birthday wishes, because I really appreciate them; and thank you so much for holding down the fort for a bit, because I believe that I need to take some time to be with my family. Get them settled, and even get the Chicago Office settled, etc. So, thank you so much for all you've done.

Stay Safe.

Sending the e-mail to Rafael after quickly writing it, Matt smiled as he set his phone down so that he could return his attention to the little girl who was currently in his arms, his beautiful baby girl, Bella Elizabeth Casey. His little girl whose namesake he knows Gabby would've loved to introduce her to. But unfortunately, she can't due to the fact that she passed away almost six years ago now. God, it still feels like a lifetime ago that it happened, especially when Andy died almost eight years ago now. Time has just been flying by, and he still can't believe it's been the case. But that doesn't mean that he will ever forget his friends, they could never do that due to the good memories that they have with them; but one thing's for certain, he most certainly is thinking of Andy right now.

After all, he was there when Andy celebrated his first birthday as a father with Griffin. And that was something he was really remembering right now, due to the fact that he misses him a lot right now. "God, Andy would've loved to meet you. He would've eaten you up and tried to steal you away from me so many times." Kissing his daughter's forehead, Matt sighed as he thought back to that last shift. The last shift where he walked in with both Andy and Severide, something that he hasn't done in almost a decade now; and as much as he wants to say that he moved past it, he will never move past it due to the fact that it was part of his PTSD. In fact, just thinking about it led to Matt having some PTSD; talk about bad timing, as he was currently holding Bella in his arms.
