Chapter 18: The Robert Morris University Summer Social
The next day, we were all invited to a pool party at Robert Morris University in Moon Township, where we went the previous day. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. We were jamming out to NSYNC, 98 Degrees, Kate Bush, and Lizzo prior to doing similar activities from the previous Sunday's summer social like swimming and Open Mic Night, where Alex sang covers of her favorite songs from 98 Degrees. Then, there was a nutrition-planned barbecue in which Alex had the same stuff to eat as last week: a healthy cheeseburger, corn on the cob, vegetable and pasta salads, and lemonade to drink, along with fresh fruit and whipped cream for a dessert. "I was hoping that we would grow flowers again for this social like we did last night," Carly stated. "You loved being my little gardener back then, didn't you?" Mr. Benson asked. "I wanted to be your little gardener, too, but at least, we still have a garden on the deck of our apartment," Spencer admitted. "It's too bad we couldn't have our discussion group today due to a conflict with the library," Alex stated. "I was going to talk about self-acceptance from my senior year and when I was doing a good deed with the bowling at Zone 28 fundraiser. But, we can always talk about that next month!" "Why do you always avoid food that the company serves for activities, Alex?" Justin asked. "Yeah, it is no fun eating the food without you," Max stated. "I just like to make sure that I am eating healthy, that's all," Alex stated. "Eating a black bean burger was better since the ground beef in hamburgers was loaded with preservatives and fat. Hey at least, I got to make the cupcakes that I wanted." Alex paused for a moment. "Would some of you guys like to go to Sesame Inn for Chinese food with me tomorrow night?" she then asked. "It depends on what our activity is for tomorrow," I replied. "Summer is the ultimate season for social events and learning something new every day," Henri happily admitted. "Sarah learned how to baby-sit me and Angel for the first time while James was away on his summer ski trip." "Of course, around that time, we made a goal to go to our favorite places and do our favorite activities, as well," Sarah added. "But, my favorite part of the summer was when I came back from my ski trip and threw an end-of-the-summer house party that everyone was invited to," James happily stated. "I also love the beach theme for this summer social," Sarah happily admitted. "I think that Samantha's Island Sleepover is going to be a lot of fun next Saturday." "Not only that, but there is a photo shoot in Murrysville that I am excited to be in charge of like I am every year!" James happily added. "So yes, next weekend should be a lot of fun!" Once the social was over, it was time for all of us to go home. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
