AN: Hey everyone, I'm back with a new chapter. Sorry again for skipping this for Healing Blitzo that one time. I was in a writers block on this one but I managed to get through it. Because of this, my schedule has changed to fit with the switch. I hope this chapter is good for you all. Enjoy.
Disclaimer: I do not own Helluva Boss or Hazbin Hotel
Blitzo would be the first to admit he wasn't a good driver. The number of parking tickets, complaints, and obituaries in the paper done by his driving could tell you that. But if there was one thing he was good at, it was going fast when it mattered, and right now, he needed to be the fastest driver in Hell with what was at stake. The moment Moxxie told him what was going on, he instantly told Stella to get Octavia so she could summon her legions and teleport him to the hotel. Despite the tear marks on her face, Octavia was completely serious due to the situation and tried to cast a portal to take Blitzo to the Hazbin Hotel in Imp City, only for it to not even come to fruition.
Whatever crazy shit that the fanatics had used in the area to take away demonic powers was also affecting any efforts to teleport, portal, or wisp away via magical means. This left Blitzo with no other choice but to take the van. The good news was that his van was filled with weapons that would be useful, but only if he got there in time. He trusted his employees to take care of themselves, but the fact that their demonic abilities were gone? That made him sweat.
Octavia promised to tell Lucifer about his daughter being in danger, so hopefully, he and his forces could get there in record time while her legions prepared themselves. But Blitzo wasn't going to wait for anyone. Not when his daughter and best friends were at risk of losing their lives.
Making a sharp turn on the street (While nearly running down an old imp lady and her pet dog), Blitzo bit his lip and wished he had taken Moxxie's suggestion of getting a better ride instead of being a cheap ass bitch. He still had at least half an hour to get to the hotel at the rate he was going, and every second made him worry.
He lost Stolas already; he wasn't going to lose his family.
You could get there sooner, a voice in Blitzo's head echoed. Use can use...his power.
Blitzo nearly hit the brakes upon thinking that and wanted to tell the voice in his head to just shut up and be quiet. However, that part of him nagging in his head was right. If he used that power, he could get there faster and maybe even end the fighting before long.
But at what cost? Blitzo bitterly thought as he pressed his hand over the eye covered in white makeup. Everyone assumed he had it as a reminder of his circus past, but it hid something much more severe from the public. What will I lose this time if I use it?
Was he that desperate to use it?
But what if he lost Loona, Moxxie, or Millie?
Blitzo looked at the clock and scowled. Thirty minutes. If I'm not there in thirty minutes, I'll use it.
He pressed the gas even harder as the van burned rubber on the street.
The effects of whatever the fuck the radicals had done to the hotel was still affecting Loona, but she hadn't been trained by an overprotective assassin father for nothing. She just needed a few minutes to catch her breath, and already she had her second wind. Running down the halls as fast as possible, she met one or two of those armored freaks. They were killing whoever they found either in the halls or busting into their rooms and killing them directly. Without access to their demonic abilities, most didn't stand a chance. Blitzo taught her that non-lower ranked demons were always overconfident about their magical or demonic powers to the point they rarely had anything else. Get rid of those, or find some way to sabotage them, and they were like snapping the necks of kittens.
Thus, none of the armed assholes expected her to launch herself at them, teeth and claws at the ready. She rushed into the latest room that had been targeted, four guys, all armed with assault rifles, in a closed, tight space. Loona wasted no time tackling the first, slamming him against the ground before jumping off and slashing the face of the surprised second one. He didn't have a helmet, which made her claws dig deep into his scaled flesh as he screamed and dropped his gun to cradle his bleeding eyes and face. Using her tail, Loona grabbed it and turned around, firing round after round at the second and fourth intruder, who barely managed to get a few shots but missed and hit their comrade instead. They went down with the walls behind them decorated in their blood.
The first one that Loona attacked, which looked like a cross between a husky and an imp, pulled out a knife, but Loona didn't flinch. She threw the gun at him, which caused him to knock it away with his large furry fist, but Loona counted on this. The weapon was a distraction, and she soon rushed to his face and punched him as hard as she could. Knowing it wouldn't be enough to take him down, Loona dealt a few more blows before one of her punches was blocked. The husky-imp demon tried stabbing her gut with the knife, but Loona managed to use her other arm to knock it back. She tried to twist it out of his grip, but he reversed and used the momentum to go for her neck. Backing far enough was only able to get her lightly scratched, but she didn't flinch. Instead, when he tried to reverse strike, she clamped her jaws on his hand, and this caused him to finally drop the knife.
Jerking her body up, she forced his wrist to break, causing him to scream. This was silenced when Loona took that knife he had dropped, caught it, and jabbed it in his throat to tear it wide open. She let the bleeding soon-to-be corpse drop before taking a moment to check that her enemies were dead. Once she was sure, Loona grabbed the assault rifle, some pistols they had, and any extra clips. Without her abilities, she needed all the weapons she could get.
While doing so, she caught the remains of the latest group they had just finished executing. Having been working here for a while, Loona knew a few of the residents here. She recognized this one. An entire family of imps who all wanted to go to Heaven together. A means to find some way to get out of poverty and into the Kingdom that promised food, shelter, and a life away from pain. The parents had their brains blown out and were nothing but limp bodies covered in bullet holes on the bed. The oldest son, only twelve, had been curled up in a ball with his back opened. His spine and insides could be seen from the damage done to him. The youngest, age five, whom Loona knew as Suzie, was lying on the floor, eyes wide open, with no life in them. She had just gotten a single shot to the heart with her hand clutching the little doll she always carried.
Loona knelt down and stared at her. She only knew Suzie's name because she often introduced herself when Loona did her rounds. She had never seen a Hellhound before and thought she was fuzzy and cute. Loona usually hated being called that, but she didn't hold it against the kid. She would always wave at her, talk to her for a bit, and her family would just nod politely. She was the one who told Loona that their family wanted to go to Heaven together. She really was excited about getting wings because she always wanted to fly.
Now she would never get a chance to live that dream.
Despite knowing she had to find Princess Charlie and a battle going on around her, Loona took the time to close Suzie's eyes and fold her tiny lifeless hands over her chest. If it wasn't for her pale face and motionless body, one could swear she was sleeping peacefully. Taking a moment to take the sheets, Loona covered all four family members before spitting on the corpses of their murderers. She then reloaded her guns and rushed out of the room.
Husk had gotten used to this kind of shit in his afterlife. One had to adjust to violence and being violent if one would survive in Hell. Husk hated his days in the U.S Army, especially his tour in Vietnam, but the training had been useful. Almost sixty percent of all sinners didn't live past their first year, either getting wiped out in an Extermination or dying brutally at the hands of someone they pissed off. Of course, being a sinner demon, you were brought back to life with the length depending on how bad your death was. And each time you did, you lost a part of yourself. Some sinners died so often that they only wanted a permanent end and sought it, often on Extermination Day for the angels to kill them.
Husk himself had only died twice in his stay in Hell. The first was in a bar fight where his throat had gotten slashed, and he was brought back to life two and half months later. The second was when he got caught cheating at a casino in Greed. They dropped him in a boiling lake of scalding water that was home to some deadly water demonic dragons. That had not been a fun way to die, and it took him three years to come back. That led to him accepting a deal from Alastor to pay off his debts and into his service. Back then, he thought it was a bad deal, but it led him to a new life that he wouldn't trade for anything.
He wasn't the sentimental type. He was brutal, honest, and often didn't give a crap about others, except for those in this Hotel. It was the one good thing in his life, and he saw it as his home. It had become the one thing he never had in life or death: happiness.
And no fucking radical shit stains were going to ruin that for him.
When the attack happened, Husk had been on the first floor and threw him off his heat. He realized what was happening and ordered the staff to get everyone to the safety bunker on the third floor when the explosion hit. That's when the armored assholes came in and started shooting everyone that moved. Husk barely managed to grab his shotgun before killing two of them and ordering anyone to get up to the next floor. Using a staff staircase, Husk got a few staff and residents to safely, but he didn't dare go back down. He knew the first and second floors were death traps, and as much as Charlie would say he should save them all, he was a realist. He would only save as many as he could.
With what armed staff he had, Husk had formed a small defensive barrier around the entrance to the emergency bunker on the third floor. The double doors they were protecting led to an elevator that would take the residents to an entire floor below the basement. It was bullet, bomb, magic, fire, and earthquake-proof with enough food, water, beds, showers, and generators to last for a year. The only problem was that it was stuck in the middle of a warzone with squads of the enemy coming to attack them every so often. Sometimes other residents and staff would come by, often carrying wounded, and Husk would send them below. A few stayed behind to fight, often taking over the spots of those already killed in the attacks. Husk wished for more since he was now down to him and two imps.
"Fuck, here they come!" Husk shouted as he pumped his shotgun while a new group of fanatics came toward them. They started firing at their makeshift barrier of tables, furniture, and corpses while the three defenders continued to do their best to hold on. One of the imps didn't last two minutes as his head got ripped open by a good shot. The other tried to check on him only to get mowed down.
"Fuck!" Husk cursed as he rolled to a new cover and fired two shots, hitting two targets. There were still five of them making their way, and one of them, a giant starfish-headed demon with a glowing red eye with a pentagram for a pupil, was glowing red in their hands. "Ah, shit…"
A fireball erupted from the hands of the mage, and Husk barely jumped out of the way to avoid being a cooked cat. He tried to fire again, but he was out of shells in his gun. "Double shit."
However, just when it looked like his hand had gone bust, gunshots from the right side of the hall had taken down two of the five fanatics. Everyone turned to their right to see Moxxie and Millie, holding their assault rifle and shotgun, respectively, charging forward while firing along the way. The leader of the three ordered his troops to take cover as they headed towards some of the open doors on the left side of the hall and used them as cover. Moxxie and Millie slid behind the corner of a nearby wall as bullets rained down on them.
Seeing an opening, Husk pulled out a smoke grenade and threw it between the two sides. Moxxie and Millie, having a cover, rushed out of their hiding place and jumped into the barrier that Husk had made. Millie smiled and asked, pressing her back against a torn-up lounge chair, "How are you holding up, Husk?"
"I need a drink," he answered as he closed his eyes.
"Sounds like your fine," Moxxie replied as he pulled out three boxes of shotgun shells in his coat and placed them next to Husk. "Always carry extra ammo for everything."
"Normally, I say you're being overcautious, but considering our situation, I'm going to keep my mouth shut," Husk said as he took the shells and started reloading. "Three guys to the left. Ready?"
"Ready," the couple said.
Husk repeatedly fired his shotgun as Moxxie and Millie went out. Thanks to the height and speed, they were able to easily be ignored as Millie was the first to turn around the corner, knife out, and stab the first baddie, a sinner demon who had a fishy face, in the ribs before tearing out her blade, spun on her knee, and jabbed the knife into his jaw. Moxxie slid down with his gun firing at the furthest one, the mage who had summoned a shield to defend himself. However, Moxxie had slid next to the second one, who was also an imp around his size. The gun expert jumped up and kicked his opponent's gun away before knocking him down with his shoulder. Before the demon could ask for mercy, Moxxie blew his face open with a few bursts of gunfire.
With his back turned, the mage prepared to fire another spell, only for his two tentacle hands to get pierced by throwing knives via a grinning Millie. Making his way into the fray, Husk finished him off with a shotgun blast to the eye. It burst like a balloon, and gallons of blood poured out of it as the corpse fell.
Sighing, Husk cursed as he looked around for any sign of more attacks, but it seemed he had a breath of fresh air. "Goddamnit, this is not fucking good. No powers, defenses down, and we're getting slaughtered on every floor." Taking a cigarette out, Husk lit it up before turning to the imp couple. "Any of you know if Charlie or Vaggie is okay?"
"No, but we sent Loona to check on them," Moxxie asked as they returned to the makeshift barrier, but it was more like a crumbling wreck. "What about Nifty?"
"She was on the first floor when the attack happened, I think," Husk said, keeping in mind that Nifty was fast, even without her super speed, and there were plenty of ways she could have survived. He didn't want to think the worst. Especially since the two of them had known each other ever since they were forced into Alastor's servitude years ago. She may have been annoying, but life wouldn't be the same without her. "Knowing her, she's freaking out how bad of a mess things have gotten."
Moxxie and Millie looked worried upon hearing this but didn't say anything. "How many have managed to get into the bunker?"
"Too few," Husk growled as he took a long puff. "We're not going to last much longer without backup."
The sound of police sirens coming closer from outside made the three of them blink before Moxxie rushed over to a nearby window. "I don't think we have to worry about that for long."
Gustav Wulf wasn't surprised that he heard the sirens outside the entrance. If anything, he was surprised by how quick they were. He saw at least a dozen police cars rushing down the streets at full speed, walking outside with some of his men. He snorted upon seeing them. Imp City police were weak not just because they were made of the lowest race in the pentagram but also because they had poor funding and corrupt leadership. He wasn't worried about them so much as he was about Hell's Legions or Lucifer's personal guard coming to rescue the Princess.
He decided to do quick work out of them and touched his commutation earpiece. "Terminator Squad. Deal with these dummkopfs."
The imp police driving their cars nearly hit the breaks in terror upon seeing what had come out to deal with them. They were ark demons, one of the higher-mid rank demons at eleven feet tall, large demonic wings, horns that could skewer a boar in half, and limbs so big they could crush a human skull. Roaring, they raised their miniguns and fired. A rain of gunfire and hellfire rained down upon the police cars like a thunderstorm of death. The first three waves of vehicles stood no chance as their occupants were ripped apart and died instantly while their vehicles exploded from the sheer power of the gunfire.
The bullets didn't just target the police. They targeted the buildings around them as entire blocks of homes were torn open as heavy caliber anti-tank rounds mixed with magical hellfire lit up the apartments and stores like Christmas lights. Mushroom upon mushroom of exploding vehicles lit up the streets as their smoke and flames fumed in the air. Demons screamed and shouted in agony if they were hit or caught in the aftermath of the attack. The police tried to stop and retreat, but it was too late, and they were caught in an instant death trap. Even after the last police car had been destroyed, the miniguns didn't stop. They kept firing with their wielders roaring in the pleasure of the carnage and destruction before Gustav finally signaled them to stop. There was a dark silence on the street, save for those wounded and dying.
"Hmph," Gustav snorted before turning back to the hotel. "Clear the first floor with the rest inside. I want no survivors there so we can start the next phase of the plan."
The ark demons only complied with satisfied grunts before entering to search for more victims to tear apart for their bloodlust.
Gustav touched his communications again. "Have we found the princess?"
"We've been trying to get her, but her wife has protected her. I think she's out cold."
That wasn't a surprise. The higher the demon's rank, the more impact the A.E.P. had on a demon. "Where is she now?"
"Right now, they've locked us out of the library and barricaded it."
"Don't you have explosives?"
"We're out. We had to use them to clear the daycare center, the mini-church, and the hospital wing."
"Of all the…." Gustav sighed in annoyance. "Keep trying to get to her. In the meantime, we go with the backup plan."
"Well, so much for the cavalry," Millie said grimly as the three saw the carnage outside in despair. "Now, what do we do? Blitz is still a distance away, and Satan knows how long it will take for someone strong enough to help."
"Any chance of contacting the other hotels for backup?" Moxxie asked. "For fuck's sake, there should at least be a direct line to the Royal Palace!"
"I already called Angel and Al about what's going on, but they're too far away to help us. Even with Alastor's power, it would take hours," Husk answered. "And the only call to the Royal Palace is in Charlie's office and bedroom."
"So, what do we do?" Millie asked as footsteps soon were heard coming up from the stairs nearby.
Pumping his shotgun, Husk sighed, "Keep drawing from the deck and hope we get a lucky draw to change the game."
Loona had nearly turned the corner when she saw a large group of fanatics outside the library door and retreated back. There were way too many to take out, and they looked ready to attack anything that moved. Just as she was thinking of leaving them be or sneaking past them, one of them, a lizard demon, shouted, "Alright, we're going to activate the self-destruction options for some of our guns to open the damn door. Flashbang after it's open. You see the princess or her lover, then you shoot them until they're nothing but red mushes on the floor. Don't hesitate. Even without their powers, they're dangerous."
Loona cursed as she bonked her head on the wall. Ugh, great. Now what?
She tried to think of something to do, but before she could think of an idea, the Hellhound heard the explosion and panicked. The armored fanatics threw their flashbangs and went inside, following the grenades. Loona half expected to hear gunfire and death screams, but there was nothing.
Crawling as low as possible, Loona moved closer to the doorway as she heard the same lizard demon curse. Then he shouted, "They must be hiding! Find them!"
Okay, so either they're not in here or hiding somewhere safe, Loona thought while letting out a sigh of relief. Better take them out with stealth.
Putting her assault rifle down, Loona slowly sneaked inside, where she saw the armed fanatics searching for the grand library on all three floors. Knowing she would have to take this with perfect timing, Loona silently ran to the nearest bookshelf and hugged its end while an imp with a shotgun had his back turned while checking his corners on the other side. She slowly crawled on all fours until she was right behind him. With a sudden sprint, she wrapped her arms around him in a sleeper hold, and he struggled only for a bit before going limp in her embrace. Gently resting him down, Loona looked around and tried to figure out her next move.
Two of the guards, both sinner demons by their appearances, were checking out the walls nearby as Loona sneaked closer to them. One of them asked, "What are you touching the books for?"
"Well, there might be a secret passageway or something that leads out of here or towards a safe room. Like in those old movies," The other pointed out as he continued touching the books.
"This is a hotel, not a mansion, and you're not Scooby-Doo," His partner said as he was ready to open his mouth to continue, but Loona placed one paw on his mouth while using her other to slice open his neck with her claws.
"Yeah, well, if I find them and turn out to be right, you'll look like Scrappy," The other one chuckled as he waited for his partner to answer. Upon hearing nothing, he turned around to see what was up, but Loona slammed him into the wall with one paw on her mouth and her teeth on his neck before ripping it out. He gurgled and motioned in vain to keep himself alive before his eyes rolled behind his head, and he went limp.
"What was that?" A voice asked.
"Came from over here!"
Cursing, Loona used her powerful legs to jump up and climb one of the bookcases. She then jumped up again to grab the railing of the second floor and push herself up to where she saw one of the other bastards, a surprised hawkish looking demon with six eyes, react by nearly jumping back. Loona was quicker, however, and she grabbed his head and slammed it into the railing as hard as she could, knocking him out before she climbed the rest of the way up. Landing on her fours, she listened as a few guards arrived at where she killed those two down below.
"Shit! They're dead!"
"That means they're here! Keep your guard up!"
Loona knew she couldn't stay where she was for much longer. She was about to head off when the sound of more guards dying echoed in the library, and she looked down to see three of them with miniature spears in their faces. Realizing it could have only come from one direction, Loona looked up and saw that there was a figure standing on one of the gargoyle statues on the roof. With a small bundle of steel spears on her back, Vaggie spotted Loona and gave a friendly wave.
"There she is! Shoot her!" Vaggie quickly heard this and jumped down as gunfire ripped apart her hiding spot. The wife of the princess landed on the third floor, rolled to her feet, and started running off.
Looking across the gap, she saw that four of the shooters were on the same floor as her while a few others were rushing towards the third level. Drawing her pistol, Loona realized that stealth was out of the picture and fired upon them. One of her shots managed to hit one of the three in the head, but the others ducked in time, and they started firing at Loona, who retreated further into her floor of the library as the gunfire missed her by inches.
Loona realized she needed a plan to keep running until she thought she was far enough. Putting her gun away, she jumped from shelf to shelf until she was near the second floor's ceiling. With all four claws of her limbs out, she stuck to the top as if she was Spider-Man and looked down while holding her breath. She watched and waited until two of the three after her appeared below. Taking a deep breath, Loona retreated her claws and fell. She first tackled the second one with her body slamming him hard to the ground, knocking him out before kicking her foot out and knocking the second one back. The second shooter, a female, tried to raise her gun to fire, but Loona had drawn her pistol out and shot first, nailing her in the head.
Before she could celebrate, a burst of gunfire shot through the books near Loona and forced her to get down before she could get hit. Knowing it was the third one, Loona got an idea and quickly dug into her pockets and pulled out a valuable item her father had always told her to have on her. It was a large plastic ball filled with fake blood that she quickly smashed open with her paw and smothered on her stomach. Playing dead was a valuable skill to learn as an assassin as it allowed you to trick your target into lowering their guard. It was a talent Loona had perfected (chalking it up to her being a hellhound) to the point that she managed to trick even Moxxie and Millie that she died one time, pretending to be a corpse for a full five days. On the day of her funeral, on April Fool's Day, Moxxie and Millie approached her open casket to say their goodbyes, and she scared them so bad they screamed and fainted. Her dad still had the video reaction on his phone.
Going as limp as possible on her back, Loona closed her eyes, halted her breathing, and stuck out her tongue to indicate that she had been killed. A few minutes later, the third shooter slowly poked his way out of the corner and into the same area where he had shot. He checked his two comrades and found them down but soon saw Loona, motionless, and slowly approached her. Using her ears, she could tell the distance of where he was and waited until he was close enough to poke her with his gun. That's when she lifted her pistol and shot him in the face directly between the eyes.
Sighing, Loona got up and rushed towards the closest staircase to get to the third floor. She had hoped that Vaggie was okay, but her worries went unfounded as she saw her standing above the corpse of the last armed bastards, with the final kill being the lizard demon leader from earlier. Twirling the spear in her hand, Vaggie looked at Loona and appeared worried at first until the Hellhound held her hand up. "Fake blood pill. Pretended to be dead to get one of them. I'm fine."
"Oh, phew," Vaggie said in relief. "Is it just you?"
"Mox and Mills went to help with whoever is alive in the lower levels," Loona said as she reloaded her pistol. "Where's Charlie?"
Vaggie bit her lip as worry decorated her face before motioning Loona to follow. She hurried to a book section on the wall that said "Fairy Tales" and pulled a small purple book called "Sister-Fox and Brother Wolf" that only came out halfway before a switch mechanism was heard. A section of the bookshelf slid open, and inside, resting on the red velvet room, was a semi-unconscious Princess Charlie.
Vaggie quickly went to her wife's side and tended to her while Loona looked at the princess with worry. She was paler than usual, with sweat dripping down her entire body so much her complete clothing was soaked in it. Her nose was bleeding, and she was shivering like she had been dumped in ice-cold water at zero degrees. Carrying her bridal style, Vaggie turned to Loona with worry. "Whatever affected the hotel seems to affect stronger demons harsher while others get mild or few symptoms. Charlie's running a fever and goes in and out of consciousness. I told her we needed to get out of here, but she said we needed to get to her office before she passed out again."
"That's the top floor," Loona pointed out. "Why go there?"
"Something about a means to get help and save us from getting killed," Vaggie answered before shaking her head. "I couldn't get anything else out of her before she passed out."
Loona bit her lip. "Are options aren't great. We're surrounded, have no back upcoming for a while, and are low on means to fight these assholes. So, it looks like we got no other choice."
"Think we can get there in time?" Vaggie asked as she prepared to carry Charlie for a longer distance.
"We better. Or else this hotel is going to become our tomb."
