Twelve and Klary remained in the Tardis for nearly two days. The ship drifted through space at the brunette's insistence. She wanted some downtime and with how her life had changed, she was always happy to spend a day doing nothing. It didn't help that the brunette was annoyed with the Time Lord. Besides a few moments, the Doctor kept his distance. Allowed her to calm within her own time.

It had been a day and a half before Klary was whisked away. She hadn't been able to say much to the Doctor during that time. A part of her felt bad that they hadn't been able to talk, but her remaining wasn't guaranteed and she had been too angry to really speak to him. To tell him why she was bothered by the volume of his voice. With a sigh, she took in her surroundings and found she was surprisingly in her room. The place she had been in not moments earlier. With a shrug, she pulled on a cardigan and made her way to the console room. Curious as to which incarnation she was with.

Klary smiled as she looked around the very familiar console room. Neither of the Ponds nor Clara was seen so she was uncertain as to who was the current companion and where she would be going. Another surprise was the lack of the Doctor. Usually, the Time Lord spent his time tinkering but he was nowhere in the room. Thinking of all the possible places he could be, Klary made her way to the library. When he wasn't there, she checked the kitchen and their room. Not finding him, Klary thought of the one place she hadn't been. Asked the Tardis to direct her there. In moments, she was before a blue door with Gallifreyan script on it. Sucking in a steeling breath, Klary knocked.

The door was wrenched open. A half-dressed Doctor in the arch. Brows furrowed as he looked at her. "Klary?"

Cheeks heated up. Before her stood the very naked chest. She quickly averted her gaze. Hoped she at least hadn't drooled. "Sorry. I can wait in the con-"

He latched onto her wrist as she turned away and pulled her into the room. Eyes widened as he released her and turned towards another door. "I was just about to take a bath. Want to join?"

"Literally just showered. Sorry, hun."

He nodded. A chaste kiss on her forehead. "I'll be quick."

With him gone, Klary looked around the room. Did her best to distract herself from the mostly open bathroom door. The room was everything she expected it to be and yet it wasn't. A desk area covered in pulled-apart trinkets, his clothes strewn near the closet. Pictures of his previous incarnations on the wall above the desk. His bed giant. Bigger than a California King. She wondered why he needed such a large bed but figured it was for comfort. Two end tables on the sides of the bed, both with pictures on them. Out of the four, only one remained clear. The three blurred out. The photo was of the Doctor -in his Tenth incarnation- and her, a purple sky behind them, his arms wrapped around her waist as his chin rested on her shoulder. Large smiles on their faces as they looked ahead. Klary took in her appearance. A black maxi-dress and platform boots. Hair longer but as curly as ever and a twinkle in her eyes. She looked healthy. Happy. Her eyes caught something on her ring finger. She went to pick up the photo but it blurred out.

"Surprised you're back so soon."

Klary started. Turned to see the Doctor dressed in a towel as he walked towards the closet. She swallowed the yelp that threatened to come out. For someone so scrawny, he was pretty muscular. Her thoughts turned less than innocent for a moment. At least as he gave her a questioning glance. "Oh…um… that was a while for me."

"Was it?" The Doctor pulled on his trousers and faced her. Eyes hooded as he sauntered towards her. Hands on her waist as he stopped before her. "Long enough to miss me?"

She stammered for a bit before she managed to get something coherent out. "I'm always with you."

A hand went up to her cheek. His thumb on her bottom lip. "This me, Klary." Voice husky. A shiver ran down her spine. A knowing smirk on his lips.

He gave her no opportunity to reply as his lips covered hers. Klary stuttered for half a second before instinct kicked in. Hands moved to his chest. Skin soft though she definitely felt the muscle beneath. His arm tightened around her waist, pulled her as close as possible. Arms around his shoulder, hands in his hair. Still wet from his bath. Kiss deepened. The air in her lungs gone. Her hands moved back to his chest. Gently pushed away as she took deep breaths. Eyes rolled at his smug grin. He gave her waist one last squeeze. A quick peck on her lips before he returned to the closet and continued to get dressed.

Once Klary's breathing returned to normal and the Doctor was dressed, the two went to the console room to wait for their ginger companion. As they waited, the Doctor brought up the conversation they'd had the last time she was with them. A conversation he was continuing as she had popped off.

"Has it been better?"

"What?"

"Travelling."

"Yeah. I- It's been interesting. Since I left, things have been easier, I suppose. Been getting the hand of things."

"Good. All I want is your happiness."

"Being with you makes me happy. Even if you're a stubborn ass who runs headfirst into danger with no regard for your own safety."

"Oi! I-" She cocked her head to the side. Dared him to deny it. "I take my safety into account. Besides, I'm more so keeping you safe."

"Bullshit."

"You threw yourself at me when I could have killed you that one time. I was taken over by a bloody sun. And let's not forget having your face taken."

"Abi didn't deserve to die. And, I was saving your companion."

He grumbled to himself but before he could reply, Amy walked in, dressed in a grey skirt, red top, brown aviator jacket, and cowboy boots. Eyes lit up as she saw the brunette. "Klary! You're back. Did you actually leave?" She rushed to her side.

"Yes, I actually left. It's been a while for me."

"Course it has." She looked between the two. "Are you two having a row?"

"No," she negated at the same time the Doctor said, "Just talking."

Amy chuckled as she sat on the jumpseat. "Okay. Off to Churchill?"

"Off to Churchill."

The Tardis materialised and the Doctor was quick to open the ship's doors and poke his head out. Klary went to follow after but he kept her from pushing the door open. Hand on the edge in a vice grip. As he inched out, the brunette was quick to follow him, hand in Amy's as she pulled her out. Brows raised as she saw the barrels of three Enfield rifles. Though Marines moved to the side as Churchill approached, their guns remained trained on the three.

"Amy… Winston Churchill."

The Prime Minister removed the cigar from his mouth. "Doctor. Is it you?"

"Oh, Winston, my old friend." As the Doctor smiled at him, hand out for a shake, Churchill held out his hand, fingers flexing as he asked for something. Klary smirked as the Doctor rolled his eyes, the smile never leaving his face. "Ah, every time."

"What's he after?"

"Tardis key, of course."

"Think of what I could achieve with your remarkable machine, Doctor! The lives that could be saved."

The Doctor turned and closed the Tardis door. "Ah, it doesn't work like that."

"Must I take it by force?"

"I'd like to see you try."

Winston held back a smirk before he addressed the Marines. "At ease." Listening to the PM, the men did as ordered. "Klary. It's lovely to see you again, my dear. You look as beautiful as ever."

Klary blushed. Not used to the compliment. Hell, she had only grown accustomed to the Doctor's lips on hers. Yet before she could reply, the Doctor grabbed her hand. "You rang?"

The group walked down a corridor of the bunker, workers bustling about. The bunker shook at the recent bombing. Dust and plaster falling from the ceiling. Klary grabbed onto Amy as she stumbled. "So you've changed your face again."

"Yeah, well, had a bit of work done."

"Got it, got it, got it! Cabinet War Rooms, right?"Amy glanced at the woman. Klary nodded before her eyes roamed from the ginger. She took in everything. The last she was in the area was in her own universe. A self-guided tour she took to sate the history buff in her. Prior to the Doctor Who exhibit, she had gone to various places of note from the Second World War.

"Yep. Top secret heart of the War Office. Right under London."

"You're late, by the way."

A woman approached, a clipboard in hand. As she handed it to Churchill, the man handed his cane off to the Doctor. "Requisitions, sir."

"Excellent." Having taken it from her, Winston began to sign off on the paper.

"Late?"

"I rang you a month ago."

"Really? Sorry. Sorry, it's a Type Forty Tardis. I'm just running her in."

"Oi! Don't blame her," Klary interjected. Arms crossed as she looked at him. "Not her fault you're a shoddy pilot."

The Doctor made a face at her but before he could truly reply, Churchill spoke to the woman who had walked alongside them. They stopped as they reached an office and she grabbed the clipboard. "Something the matter, Breen? You look a little down in the dumps."

"No, sir. Fine, sir."

"Action this day, Breen! Action this day!"

"Yes, sir." Breen put on a smile and grabbed the pen. She shot Amy a small smile before she turned and walked away.

The constant ringing of phones had begun to wear on Klary. She hoped they would get to their next location quickly but a man approached them. "Excuse me, sir. Got another formation coming in, Prime Minister. Stukas, by the look of them."

"We shall go up top then, Group Captain. We'll give them what for. Coming, Doctor?"

"Why?"

He snatched his cane from under the Doctor's arm. "I have something to show you."

The Doctor and Amy shared an interested look, the ging laughing as they followed the PM to the lift. Before the couple entered, Klary grabbed onto the Doctor's arm. With his attention on her, she took a breath. "You're not going to like this."

"How bad?"

"Very. Just… Be careful of what you say. Don't let your anger and pain get the best of you." He stared at her for a moment before nodding. Hand over hers, he intertwined their fingers and pulled her into the lift. The brunette stood in the back with Amy, doing her best to keep from coughing. The smell of the cigar smoke overwhelming and unpleasant. It didn't help he puffed with no abandon. The Doctor getting a face full of smoke. Wafts he waved away with little success.

"We stand at a crossroads, Doctor, quite alone, with our backs to the wall. Invasion is expected daily. So I will grasp with both hands anything that will give us an advantage over the Nazi menace."

He looked back at the women. His gaze on Klary apprehensive before he returned his gaze to Winston. "Such as?"

The lift came to a stop and the gate opened. "Follow me."

Churchill led them out onto the roof. As they walked out, there were sandbags about as well as Marines at their posts. Klary and Amy took in the view. If not for the zeppelins and fighter planes, one would forget it was a time of war. The history nerd in Klary was giddy at seeing history though short-lived as it was. Near the edge of a higher ledge, was a white-coated scientist searching the skies with a pair of binoculars. A helmet on his head.

Amy grabbed onto the brunette's arm. "Wow. My god!"

"Doctor, this is Professor Edwin Bracewell. Head of our Ironsides Project."

The Doctor gave the introduced man a V for Victory salute. Bracewell nodded. "How do you do?"

In the distance, a man called out planes approaching. As bombs landed, Amy jumped in shock. The Doctor's grip on Klary's hand tightened. "Oh, Doctor. It's…"

"History," the brunette breathed out.

"Ready, Bracewell?"

"Aye-aye, sir." He gave a thumbs up. "On my order… fire!"

Klary grimaced as bolts of energy came out from behind a sandbagged emplacement towards the approaching Nazi planes. Each plane exploded once hit. "What was that?"

He turned to Klary. Eyes widened at her short, practically inconspicuous nod. "That wasn't human. That was never human technology. That sounded like… Show me. Show me. Show me what that was!" He lept up the ladder to Bracewell.

"Advance."

"Our new secret weapon. Ha!" As Churchill finished, a Dalek rolled out from the emplacement. Unlike its usual look, it was painted khaki, with the Union Flag, and an army utility belt around it. "What do you think? Quite something, eh?"

She grimaced as the Doctor approached the Dalek. Face to eyestalk. "What are you doing here?"

"I am your soldier."

"What?"

"I am your soldier."

"Stop this. You stop now! Now, you know who I am. You always know." Klary rushed up to him, grabbed his hand and gave it a squeeze. His grip tightened to the point of pain but she said nothing.

"Your identity is unknown."

"Perhaps I can clarify things here," Bracewell said as he approached. "This is one of my Ironsides."

"Your what?"

He placed his hands in his pockets and addressed his creation. "You will help the Allied cause in any way that you can?"

"Yes."

"Until the Germans have been utterly smashed?"

"Yes."

"And what is your ultimate aim?"

"To win the war."

The Doctor demanded that he see the plans. To see how this came about. The five quickly returned to the lift and down to the offices. "They're Daleks!" the Doctor said as he paced Churchill's office. "They're called Daleks!"

"They're Bracewell's Ironsides, Doctor! Look. Blueprints, statistics, field tests, photographs. He invented them!"

"Invented them? Oh, no, no. No!"

"Yes! He approached one of our brass hats a few months ago. Fellow's a genius."

"A Scottish genius, too," Amy smugly pointed out. "Maybe you should listen to-"

Klary shushed Amy. The Doctor shot her a grateful look. "He didn't invent them. They're alien."

"Alien?" Everyone was silent as they watched a Dalek glide past the door. Its eyestalk turned to look at them a moment before it continued on.

"And totally hostile."

"Precisely. They will win me the war." He moved aside the top blueprint to show a poster of said Dalek with the words To Victory! at the top.

The Doctor latched onto Klary's hand as he dragged her along after Churchill. Amy right behind them. The four walked through the corridor. "Why won't you listen to me? Why did you call me in if you won't listen to me?"

"When I rang you a month ago, I must admit I had my doubts. The Ironsides seemed too good to be true."

"Yes. Right! So destroy them. Exterminate them!"

"Doctor," Klary tried. An attempt to calm the storm as it brewed. She knew it would do little to help but she had to try. Had to do something to calm him. She was all too aware of how he got when he was angry.

"But imagine what I could do with a hundred. A thousand!"

"I am imagining."

"We've seen it."

Another Dalek passed by holding a dispatch box. Churchill walked through a pair of doors while the three stopped, the Doctor turning to the ginger. "Amy, tell him."

"Tell him what?"

"About the Daleks."

"What would I know about the Daleks?"

Confusion marred his face as he glanced at Klary. "Everything. They invaded your world, remember? Planets in the sky. You don't forget that." Her brows furrowed. "Amy, tell me you remember the Daleks."

"No, sorry!"

"That's not possible," he breathed before followed after Winston. Klary placed a hand on the companion's arm before she led her after the men.

In the map room, service members kept track of what was going on. The bunker continued to shake and deposit dust and plaster with each bomb. Churchill stood at the head of the desk. Watching it all. The trio came to a stop as a Dalek rolled past. The Doctor leaned against a beam. Klary pulled into his arms. Leaning against him. "So, they're up to something." He turned to Klary. She watched him. Knew he was more so talking to himself. "But what is it? What are they after?"

She looked up at him. Eyes connected. "Think of what I said earlier, hun."

"Well, let's just ask, shall we?" She walked over to one of the Daleks.

"Amy. Amelia!" She ignored his calls and tapped the Dalek to garner its attention. Its eyestalk faced her.

"Can I be of assistance?"

"Oh. Yes, yes! See, my friends reckon you're dangerous. That you're an alien. Is it true?"

"I am your soldier."

"Yeah. Got that bit. Love a squaddie. What else, though?"

"Please excuse me. I have duties to perform." With that, the Dalek left the map room.

The Doctor moved Klary aside and went up to the Prime Minister. Removing the cigar from his mouth and placing it in an ashtray. "Winston. Winston, please."

"We are waging total war, Doctor! Day after day the Luftwaffe pound this great city like an iron fist."

"Wait til the Daleks get started."

"Men, women and children slaughtered. Families torn apart. Wren's churches in flames."

Klary sighed. "Try the Earth in flames."

"I weep for my country. I weep for my empire. It is breaking my heart."

"You're resisting, Winston." The man walked off and picked up a clipboard. Scanned through it and signed it before leaving it in the hand of the woman. "The whole world knows you're resisting. You're a beacon of hope."

"But for how long? Millions of innocent lives will be saved if I use these Ironsides now."

"Can I be of assistance?"One asked as it popped out of nowhere.

The Doctor pointed at it. Exasperated. "Shut it." He placed his hands on Winston's shoulders. "Listen to me. Just listen! The Daleks have no conscience. No mercy. No… no pity. They are my oldest and deadliest enemy. You cannot trust them."

"If Hitler invaded hell, I would give a favourable reference to the Devil. These machines are our salvation!" A siren sounded. "Oh, the all clear. We are safe. For now."

Churchill left the room followed by the Dalek. "Doctor, it's the all clear." Amy rushed over to his side. Klary behind her. "Are you okay?"

"What does hate look like, Amy?"

"Hate?"

"Love?"

"A Dalek."

"Exactly. And I'm going to prove it."With that, the Doctor stormed off. The look Amy shot the brunette was one of worry before she took off after him. Klary sighed as she followed. With how things were going, everything would go as she saw, no matter how she warned him.

The trio walked into the laboratory to speak with Bracewell. Inside was a Dalek. It offered the scientist tea and at the approval, went to make him some. The man continued his work on some machine.

"All right, Prof. Now, the PM's been filling me in. Amazing things, these Ironsides of yours. Amazing. You must be very proud of them."

"Just doing my bit."

The Doctor gave a noncommittal grunt as he picked up a folder and began to flip through it. Taking a seat in the leather chair. Klary sat on the arm, eyes darting from the professor to the companion and then the papers. Amy picked up a wrench and looked at the paper taped on the wall. "Not bad for a Paisley boy."

Bracewell gave a laugh. "Yes. I thought I detected a familiar cadence, my dear."

"How did you do it? Come up with the idea?"

"How does the muse of invention come to anyone?" the man countered. His tone light but Klary detected a slight edge to it.

"But you get a lot of these clever notions, do you?" The Doctor closed the folder and plopped it back atop the pile.

"Well, ideas just seem to teem from my head. Wonderful things! Like… let me show you." Bracewell rummaged a bit before he pulled out a file and opened it to a specific page. "You see, some musings on the potential of hypersonic flight." The Doctor picked it up and looked at it as he pulled up another file. As he handed the Time Lord the next file, the Doctor tossed the previous down onto the table. "Gravity bubbles that can sustain life outside of the terrestrial atmosphere. Came to me in the bath!"

"And are these your ideas or theirs?"

"Oh no, no, no. These robots are entirely under my control, Doctor. They are." The Dalek returned with Bracewell's tea and backed away. Yet it remained in the room. "Thank you. The perfect servant, and the perfect warrior."

As He got into Bracewell's face, Klary stood and placed a hand on his arm. A gentle pull. He graced her with a quick look before he returned his attention back to the relatively older man. "I don't know what you're up to, Professor, but whatever they've promised, you cannot trust them. Call them what you like, the Daleks are death."

"Yes, Doctor," Churchill exclaimed as he walked into the laboratory. "Death to our enemies. Death to the forces of darkness, and death to the Third Reich!"

"Yes, Winston. And death to everyone else too."

"Would you care for some tea?"

Klary cursed as the Doctor knocked the tray from the Dalek's sucker. The Dalek rolled backwards as he prowled towards it. "Stop this! What are you doing here? What do you want?"

"We seek only to help you."

"To do what?"

"To win the war."

"Really? Which war?"

"I do not understand."

"Doctor…"

"This war, against the Nazis, or your war? The war against the rest of the Universe? The war against all life forms that are not Dalek?"

"I do not understand. I am your soldier."

"Oh, yeah? Okay. Okay, soldier. Defend yourself!" The Doctor had picked up a large wrench and with a few propelling steps, began to beat on the Dalek.

"What the devil?"

"Do you not require tea?"

The Doctor ignored them all as he wailed on the creature. "Stop him! Prime Minister, please!

"Doctor, what the devil? These machines are precious!"

"Come on. Fight back. You want to, don't you? You know you do." The brunette moved towards him. "Stay where you are, Klary," he snapped as she took her first step. She bit her lip as she stepped back. Hand in Amy's as she attempted to comfort the frightened companion.

This was everything Klary wanted to avoid. She completely understood where his emotions came from. How could she not? But she was also aware of their plan. In it all, Klary hated that she was unable to say anything about it. Still, at that moment, she swore to herself that she would see just how far she could push it. See just how much she could say before things went to shit. There would be plenty of times his emotions grew this big. That his enemies led to such actions, though none as large as the Daleks did. She wanted nothing more than to save him from the hurt. To keep him from the pain of dealing with his lifelong enemy. To soften the blow each time they were encountered.

"I must protest!" Bracewell looked between the women and the PM for assistance but none came.

"What are you waiting for?" The Doctor slapped his chest. "Look. You hate me. You want to kill me. Well, go on. Kill me." He slammed the rod atop the Dalek's head. "Kill me!"

"Doctor! Stop it! Enough!" Klary raced to his side. Hands on the wrench as she drew his attention from the Dalek. His eyes met hers for a moment. Not but a second before it was back on the alien. Yet within that moment, she saw it all. The pain. The anger. She knew. Gods, she knew. She FELT it. She didn't know how. Or why. But she did. Her chest tightened. Her breathing laboured. The thought of losing everything to them crossed her mind. A thought she knew couldn't be hers. They had taken nothing from her. Hell, it was her first time meeting them. Klary wanted to think about it but refused to. She pushed it aside. Her emotions weren't important. Not at the moment.

"Doctor, be careful!" Amy had also approached. Wrapping her hands around his arm. Klary nodded at her before gently waving her to the side. She knew what was coming and the further away Amelia was, the better.

"Please desist from striking me. I am your soldier."

"You. Are. My. Enemy! And I am yours! You are everything I despise."

"Doctor, stop!" He ignored Klary's words. Continued on as if she had said nothing.

"The worst thing in all creation. I've defeated you time and time again. I've defeated you. I sent you back into the Void. I saved the whole of reality from you!" Klary called out to him again. Tried to stop him. Cursed the Daleks and said they would be destroyed. Yet all her words were for nought. "I am the Doctor. And you are the Daleks!" He jumped and kicked the Dalek, causing it to roll backwards. It only moved a few feet before it stopped and turned its eyestalk towards him.

"Correct. Review testimony." A recording of the Doctor's last words played by the other Dalek.

"Testimony? What are you talking about, testimony?" Klary sighed at the Doctor's question. She knew his subsequent questions would also remain unanswered. In all of his emotions, the Doctor had played right into the Dalek's hands- figuratively as they had no hands. This was what she wanted to avoid. Even if she couldn't blame him.

"Transmitting testimony now."

"Transmit what? Where?"

"Testimony accepted."

"Get back. All of you!"

"Marines! Marines, get in here," Churchill called.

"No!" Klary yelled as two Marines ran in, rifles at the ready. Before they could shoot, the Marines were shot by the Dalek's laser. In usual fashion, their bodies lit up just a second before they collapsed in a heap. Smoke wafting from their bodies. Klary's nose scrunched up, The smell of burnt clothes and flesh reaching it. She fought the urge to gag. It didn't stop her eyes from watering. Her eyes remained on their bodies until she blinked. Eyes moved to the Doctor. Meeting as his were already on her.

"Stop it, stop it, please!" Bracewell approached the lead Dalek. Hands in the air as he did so. "What are you doing? You are my Ironsides!"

"We are the Daleks."

"But I created you."

"No." The Dalek blew off Bracewell's left hand. No blood left him. His now removed hand sputtered and sparked. The man stared at the wires. Eyes and mouth open in shock. Klary's eyes moved between the man and the aliens. A feeling of pity filled her. The scientist had truly believed he was human. Believed he was helping his country. His people. To have it all ripped away. She couldn't fathom how he felt. Not even in her own lived experience. "We created you."

"Victory! Victory! Victory!" There was a flash of white light and the Daleks vanished. Teleported away in their victory. Klary placed a hand on the Doctor's arm. Silent comfort. A forgiving gesture. His hand moved atop hers. A faint squeeze. Acknowledgement.

Amy approached the couple. "What just happened?" The two were silent. "Doctor? Klary?"

"I wanted to know what they wanted. What their plan was. I was their plan." He ran out of the room. Klary and Amy right behind him.

"Testimony accepted. That's what they said. My testimony."

"Don't beat yourself up, you were right. So what do we do? Is this what we do now? Chase after them?"

"Klary said." He faced the brunette. Eyes downcast. Guilt. His hands landed on her shoulders. "You warned me." He faced the brunette. Eyes downcast. Guilt. His hands landed on her shoulders. She shook her head, hand reached up to bush aside a stray strand of hair that had fallen over his eyes. Her hand stopped on his cheek. A gentle smile as she softly promised him it would be okay. That they were okay. His eyes closed. Savoured the touch before his hand moved to hers. Kissed her palm and pulled away.

The three had returned to the cupboard. Klary went to lean against a filing cabinet as she watched the Doctor unlock the Tardis door. "Don't worry about it. Just go get them."

"What do you mean?" Amy asked, arms folded as she watched him.

He faced Amy. Trod towards her. "This is what I do, yeah, and it's dangerous, so you wait here."

"What? So you mean I've got to stay safe down here in the middle of the London Blitz?" Her voice grew at the end. Ton disbelieving.

"You'll be with Klary. She won't let anything happen to you."

The brunette nodded. "This is as safe as it's going to get around him." With a short wave, the three watched as he walked into the Tardis and took off. Leaving the two women in the middle of the London Blitz.

"Well, what does he expect us to do now?"

"KBO, of course."

"What?"

"Keep buggering on," Churchill said.

Klary wiggled her eyebrows at the ginger as she slumped into the chair. Churchill stood before her. The pair talked as Klary listened. Winston had directed a few questions towards her but the brunette confessed that it was her first time meeting him. Still, the man remained cordial and refrained from bringing up anything to do with their previous encounters.

"Prime Minister," the young woman from earlier approached the three.

"Yes?"

"Signal from RDF, sir."Breen handed a clipboard to the Prime Minister. "Unidentified object. Hanging in the sky, Captain Childers says." Amy turned her full attention to them. "We can't get a proper fix, though. It's too far up."

"What do you think, Miss Pond? Klary? The Doctor's in trouble, and now we know where he is."

Amy got to her feet. A smile on her lips. "Yep. 'Cause he'll be on that ship, won't he?" The brunette nodded. "Right in the middle of everything."

"Exactly!"

With the Doctor on the Dalek ship, Klary and Amy followed Churchill into the map room. The room was dim as people moved about, some on the phones, some on working the two maps, one on the desk the other on the wall, and others watching. It was moments later that the lights suddenly turned on. One of the officers flicked the light switch but nothing happened. The lights remained on. "The generators won't switch off. The lights are on all across London, Prime Minister!"

"Has to be them. Has to be the Daleks."

"It is," Klary remarked. The two turned their gazes to her. "They're giving the Doctor a choice. Them or the world."

"The Germans can see every inch of the city. We're sitting ducks!" Churchill turned to one of his commanders. "Get those lights out before the Germans get here!"

"Confirm, Squadron two four four and fifty-six mobilised. Emergency. Emergency."

"One oh nine? One oh nine, confirm?"

"Thousands will die if we don't get those lights out now."

Breen removed her headset. "German bombers sighted over the Channel, sir. ETA ten minutes, sir."

"Here they come. Get a message to Mister Attlee. War Cabinet meeting at oh three hundred hours. If we're still here."

Amy approached the Prime Minister. "We can't just sit here. We've got to take the fight to the Daleks."

"Amy's right. You're not exactly helpless."

"How? None of our weapons are a match for theirs."

"Oh God. We must have something."

"Six oh four Blenheim squadron, stand by."

"Oh." Amy and Klary shared a glance before the ginger chuckled. "It's staring us in the face! A gift. From the Daleks."

The three rushed to the laboratory. As they entered, they found Bracewell sitting in a chair, a revolver in hand. She watched as Churchill and Amy pulled him from his state. Amy removed the gun from his hand. Klary quickly told Amy to do what she had to while she listened and waited. Watched as the three came up with a plan. The plan Klary was very much aware of. At each moment she nodded along. Let Amy know that she was on the right track.

Klary on the other hand had a plan of her own. She decided to get the bomb situated and deactivated before the Doctor returned. To remove that threat before it could become an issue. Hoped to make it one less thing for him to worry about. Once Amy had told her plan, Klary followed them back to the map room. The bunker shook constantly. Each bomb grew closer and closer to their position. As Churchill called out to his people, Bracewell walked in with headphones on, rolling in what looked like a radio on the chair he had not so long occupied. He heaved it onto the table and turned it on. Not a radio but a device to pick up on the Dalek transmission. Most in the room stood behind the four as they watched the Doctor and the new Daleks.

Not long after the introduction, the phone rang. Bracewell quick to answer. Everything was apparently ready and Amy's plan was ready to be executed. Bracewell pulled up the exact coordinates and Winston ordered his Group Captain to get to it. The man quickly picked up the phone and call out the order. As that happened, Klary and the others returned their gaze back to transmission. Klary chuckled when they discovered the 'device' in his hand was a Jammy Dodger.

The moment Klary heard the Doctor tell Danny Boy to pull back, Klary approached Bracewell. Her cue to put her own plan into action. Knowing it would be a matter of time before the Doctor returned, she pulled him aside. The man's brows furrowed in confusion as he followed. The eyes of everyone on them. Klary's focus solely on him, she hadn't realised Amy's presence beside her.

"You're a bomb." Her voice held no emotion. Just plain facts. There was no time for her to soften the blow. Even with his already fragile mind. Though, she was proud of him for keeping on.

"What!"

"I can deactivate you but you need to remain calm and trust me. Can you do that?" The scientist nodded. "Good. Now, have you ever fancied someone? Someone you know you shouldn't?"

"What?"

"You don't have to answer the question. I already know." She gave him a cheeky smile. "It hurts, doesn't it? But the good kind of hurt, huh?"

"I really shouldn't talk about her."

Amy wiggled her eyebrows and shot Klary a smirk. "Oh. There's a her."

"Tell me her name."

"Dorabella."

"What was she like, Edwin?" Amy gently asked.

"Oh, such a smile. And her eyes. Her eyes were so blue. Almost violet, like the last touch of sunset on the edge of the world." He grew silent for a moment as he thought of her. Bracewell breathed out her name. "Dorabella."

As Bracewell opened his eyes, the Doctor rushed in and uppercut Bracewell. The hit knocked the scientist down, a pained cry from his lips. A collective gasp came from those in the room. The Doctor waved his hand as he tried to dispel the pain.

"Was that necessary?" Klary asked, hands crossed.

"Sorry, Professor. You're a bomb. An inconceivably massive Dalek bomb." The man cried out once more. "There's an Oblivion Continuum inside you, a captured wormhole that provides perpetual power. Detonate that, and the Earth will bleed through into another dimension." He ripped the poor man's shirt open. "Now, keep down."

Before he could go further, Klary slapped a hand on his shoulder. Pulled his attention from Bracewell. He went to protest but her glare stopped him long enough for her to speak. "We know. I believe I deactivated it. Though I can't exactly see the countdown. You probably should have just asked as opposed to undressing the man in front of everyone."

The Doctor stared at her wide-eyed. Eyes darted between the terrified scientist and Klary. With a nudge from her, he sonicked Bracewell's torso open. With the bomb shown, all saw that the segments were blue. A light, practically clear blue. The Doctor shot Klary a large smile before looking at Bracewell. "Welcome to the human race." He pointed at Churchill. "You're brilliant." He repeated the sentiment to Bracewell and Amy. "And you, I-" he pulled Klary into a deep kiss. "Now," he started when he pulled away, "Got to stop them. Stop the Daleks."

Klary kept a tight grip on the Doctor's arm as Bracewell called out to him. "Wait, Doctor. Wait, wait. It's too late. Gone. They've gone."

"No. No! They can't. They can't have gotten away from me again."

"No, I can feel it. My mind is clear." Bracewell adjusted his glasses. Tone sombre. "The Daleks have gone."

"It's okay, hun."

"I had a choice," he groaned. Leaned against a pole. "And they knew I'd choose the Earth. The Daleks have won. They beat me. They've won." Klary rubbed his arm. Comforted him best she could at the moment.

"But you saved the Earth." Amy annunciated the words. Pushed home that he did something good. That he made the better decision. "Not too shabby. Is it?"

He glanced around at those in the room. All watching him. All with smiles- no matter how small- on their lips. Thankful. "No." He wrapped an arm around Klary's waist. "Not too shabby." With a squeeze, he pulled away.

"It's a brilliant achievement, my dear friend." Winston reached into his coat. "Here, have a cigar." A cigar the Doctor declined before he rushed off. Before he had, Klary whispered something in his ear. Something she knew wasn't entirely simple but hoped could be achieved. He had kissed her forehead, winked and then left.

Klary watched as everything returned to business as usual. She was excited to have witnessed this part of history. No matter how apprehensive she should have been. It seemed the Doctor's attitude had begun to wear on her. She just hoped it wouldn't bite her in the ass in the future. She cut her thoughts as Amy approached Churchill. "So, what now then?"

"I still have a war to run, Miss Pond."

"Prime Minister," a woman called as she approached and handed Churchill a file.

"Oh, thank you." The PM began to read through it. "Oh, they hit the Palace and Saint Paul's again. Fire crews only just saved it."

Before them, Breen burst into tears. "Is she okay?"

"What?"

"She looks very upset." Klary watched as the other woman approached her. Attempted to comfort her as everyone continued.

"Oh, Miss Breen? Her young man didn't make it, I'm afraid. Just got word. Shot down over the Channel."

"Where's the Doctor?" Klary barely heard Amy's question as she walked over to Breen. Comforted her as best she could. She truly hoped the Doctor had been able to save the man. Sure, death was a reality in war, but she truly wished the best for the woman. That she had a happy life.

The man in question popped back up. "Tying up loose ends. I've taken out all the alien tech Bracewell put in." As his eyes met Klary's he gave her a curt nod. The brunette smiling and telling Breen to follow her when they leave.

"Won't you reconsider, Doctor?" Those Spitfires would win me the war in twenty hours!"

"Exactly."

"But why not? Why can't we put an end to all this misery?"

The Doctor picked up a cup of tea and took a sip. "Oh, it doesn't work like that, Winston. It's going to be tough. There are terrible days to come. The darkest days. But you can do it. You know you can."

"Stay with us, and help us win through. The world needs you."

"The world doesn't need me."

"No?"

"The world's got Winston Spencer Churchill."

"It's been a pleasure, Doctor. As always."

"Too right."

"Goodbye, Doctor."

"Oh, shall we say adieu?"

The two hugged. As they pulled apart, Churchill turned to Amy and Klary. "Indeed. Goodbye, Miss Pond. It was wonderful to see you again, Klary."

"It's been amazing meeting you."

"I'm sure it has."

"It truly has, Winston. Oh, I need a favour actually."

Amy kissed Churchill's cheek and Klary gave the man a short hug. Whispered her ask as she did so. The man chuckled but agreed when they had pulled away. As they watched him walk away, Amy called out to the PM. "Oi, Churchill. Tardis key. The one you just took from the Doctor."

The Time Lord patted his pockets in confusion before looking at Churchill who chuckled and reached into his pockets. "Oh, she's good, Doctor. As sharp as a pin! Almost as sharp as me." Continued to look in his pockets for the key.

Klary chuckled at the confusion on his face. "Looking for this?" She held up the pilfered Tardis key.

Churchill let out a hearty laugh as he lit another cigar. "I expect nothing less. KBO."

Klary handed the key to the Doctor who thanked her before they left the map room. Klary and the Doctor walked hand in hand as Breen and Amy followed. The woman still sniffling. As they reached a door, the Doctor nudged Klary forward and pulled Amy to the side.

"Doctor?"

"Just watch, Amy."

Klary wrapped an arm around Breen's shoulder. With a final look at the Doctor, the women entered. A scream floated out. Klary smiled as she watched the couple's reunion. "I wish you both all the best."

"But, how? Why?"

"I just know how I would feel if someone I loved so deeply were taken."

"Thank you."

"No problem at all." She went to turn away but returned her gaze to the couple. "Oh, if you need me, call this number." Klary reached into her pocket and pulled out a card. The Tardis number on it. "I expect an invite to the wedding," she joked.

"Of course. We are forever in your debt."

"Nah. Don't say that."

"But it's true, Miss. Your husband saved my life."

"That's… I don't really do the debt thing. Let's just say, friends?"

"Absolutely." Breen pulled Klary into a tight hug another thanks on her lips. With a final smile, she went to join the Doctor and Amy. Proud of herself that she at least saved someone.

Amy gave her a large smile as the Doctor wrapped an arm around her waist. The ginger rambled as they walked to the laboratory. Inside, Bracewell stood away from them, hand braced on the table. "I've been expecting you, Doctor. I knew this moment had come."

"Moment?"

"It's time to deactivate me."

"Is it? Oh, er…" He shot the women a conspiratory look. "Yeah."

"You have no choice. I'm Dalek technology. Can't allow me to go pottering around down here where I have no business."

"No, you're dead right, Professor. A hundred per cent right. And by the time I get back here in… what, ten minutes?"

"More like fifteen."

He pointed at Amy. "Fifteen minutes, yeah, that's exactly what I'm going to do. You are going to be so deactivated. It's going be like you've never even been activated."

Klary hid her face behind the Doctor. Bottom lip in mouth as she stifled her laughter. "Yeah," Amy agreed.

"Fifteen?"

"More like twenty, if I'm honest. Once we see to the urgent thing we've got to see to. The… the… See?"

"Very well, Doctor. I shall wait here and prepare myself."

"For goodness sake," the brunette called out.

Amy leaned toward them. Made no secret of what she was 'whispering'. "That Dalek tech is a bit slow on the uptake." She rolled her eyes and loudly proclaimed, "That thing we've got to do, going to take half an hour, realistically, isn't it?"

"Easily! So no running off, that's what I'm saying. Don't go trying to find that little post office with the ash trees or that girl. What was her name?"

"Dorabella."

"Dorabella. On no account go looking for her. Mind you, you can get a lot done in half an hour."

Klary chuckled and Bracewell finally seemed to understand exactly what was being said. A smile grew on his face before he laughed. "Thank you. Thank you, Doctor."

Hands intertwined, the Doctor headed out of the room. "Come along, Pond."

"So, you have enemies then?"

"Everyone's got enemies."

"Yeah, but mine's the woman outside Budgens with the mental Jack Russell. You've got, like, you know, arch-enemies."

The three leaned against the Tardis. More so Amy and the Doctor leaned on the Tardis and Klary leaned on the Doctor. "Suppose so."

"And here's me thinking we'd just be running through time, being daft and fixing stuff. But no, it's dangerous."

"Always dangerous with him around, Amy."

"Yep. Very. Is that a problem?"

"I'm still here, aren't I?" They chuckled. "You're worried about the Daleks."

"I'm always worried about the Daleks."

"It'll take time though, won't it?" The Doctor and Klary nodded. "I mean, there's still not many of them. They'll need a while to build themselves up."

Klary moved away from the Doctor and watched as he unlocked the Tardis door. "It's not that. There's something else. Something we've forgotten. Or rather you have."

"Me?"

"Yes, you."

"You didn't know them, Amy. You'd never seen them before. And you should have done. You should." He shared a glance with Klary as they walked into the Tardis. The brunette unable to tell him why she didn't remember.

I hope this chapter was enjoyed. The first bit took a bit of convincing to add as I didn't want to make the Doctor too out of character. Still, I think he kinda is but my excuse is that at his point in time, there is a very healthy sex life and in my head, the Doctor is a freak in the sheets. And I mean that in every incarnation. But still, I hope the chapter was enjoyed and I can't wait to hear your thoughts. Fun note, I studied History in Uni with a concentration on WW2. I had a documentary going as I wrote this and kept getting thrown off every time they mentioned Churchill.

savethemadscientist: They are! The Doctor is just so in love with her. Everything about her, he remembers. I will definitely be adding that meal in. I started writing it and got distracted with this chapter so it might be a while. I plan on adding more of the downtime into the story as I also enjoy reading those moments myself. Yes! Klary is getting bold. I'm hoping you enjoyed the start of this chapter. It was in Martha's words... Hot. Also wanted to throw in more of her childhood and life prior as I noticed there hasn't been much mention of it and what she went through is important to who Klary is.

He is definitely making sure Klary shows her knowledge. He wants her to be as active as she possibly could without saying too much or getting hurt. She was definitely unhappy with him. Even if she knew he would be fine in the end. Seeing the Doctor hurt is something she hated watching and in my mind, it made sense for her to not want him to hurt. Besides, she knew exactly what the whole thing was about and that he wouldn't truly get the answer he wanted. As for the early update, I managed to get it done and it was the day before my birthday so I figured it would be a nice gift lol. Since then I've been working on the upcoming chapters. I will promise you that the reason for the Rose/Klary dislike is coming up very, very soon.
