"Luffy! Law! Wait a second." Nami implored them.
"What is it?" Luffy asked her, breaking his thoughts.
Turning around, he saw the redhead following him with difficulty. However, that was nothing compared to Shirahoshi who was hyperventilating and seemingly unable to take another step.
" We're having trouble keeping up. " Nami stated. "Can we take a break?"
"A break here?" Law asked, as the group was in the middle of the forest. "Are you kidding? You can get attacked at any time in a place like this."
"But we've been stuck in this forest for two days." Nami retorted. "We haven't stopped walking."
"Besides, you didn't mind sleeping in that forest last night." Luffy remarked.
"Baka! We had to stop because walking at night was even more dangerous! Let's try to find a place that could give us a better field of vision of what surrounds us, like a plain."
However, he ends up seeing Nami sitting on a big root.
"Hey, what are you doing?"
"Shirahoshi can't take it anymore." Nami stated, seeing her sit down on the floor. "And anyway, we don't know how soon we can find a plain to rest on! Sorry, but I need to breathe for a few minutes."
"Are you sure that's a good idea?" Luffy questioned her.
"If we take a break, that means you have permission to eat something." Nami told him.
Immediately, Luffy was sitting cross-legged, as he raised his arm to the sky.
"I want to take a break."
Growling, Law felt a vein of anger appear on his forehead. However, eventually sighing, he preferred to head towards a rock that he dusted off, before sitting down on it.
"If we get attacked, don't count on me to defend you."
"Finally!" Nami rejoiced. "We haven't stopped walking since the plane burned! I can't take it anymore! It's been a long time since I've done so much exercise in such a short time."
"We must have traveled at least forty kilometers." Shirahoshi stated. "And walking in this jungle is even harder than in a meadow! I keep falling from the roots."
For his part, Luffy had already opened his bag and was devouring a piece of fruit. Yet, compared to usual, he didn't find it succulent.
"Do you have a problem?" Nami questioned him.
"Since we've been here, we've only been eating fruit." Luffy asserted. "Fruit! Fruit! Always fruit! I want meat."
"And where do you want to find some?" Asked Law, who took advantage of this break to turn on his computer and continue his virtual map of the island. "Do you really believe that a butcher lives on this island?"
"We could hunt."
"How? Even with my sword, we can barely cope with the predators on this island! As for their prey, they run much faster than us! We don't have the necessary equipment to hunt."
Suddenly, a fruit fell on Luffy's head.
"OUCH!" the boy said, raising his head. "Hey! Who did that?"
Looking at the branches above him, the boy saw a sloth hanging from a branch and moving in slow motion.
"A sloth? Hey, how about we catch it?"
"Do you really want to eat that thing?" Nami questioned him.
"Leave it alone, Strawhat-ya." Law ordered him. "The branch where this animal is located seems to be very fragile! If you climb on it, it will crack and you will fall."
" But ... "
" I said no. "
Immediately, Luffy showed a sulky pout. Then he declared.
"I would have preferred this sloth to be on the ground, just like the huge sloths that attacked the plane."
"Megatheriums!" Law corrected him. "Even though they are the ancestors of sloths, they are still bigger than an elephant! Besides, their strength and movement are superior to that of a normal sloth."
"Are you sure we're heading in the right direction, Law?" Nami asked him. "We've been walking for two days already without seeing what we're looking for."
"On an island, you can find it from any direction, as long as you walk straight." The boy retorted. "I just underestimated the size of this island! It's much bigger than I thought."
"Really?" Luffy said, finishing his fruit. "Okay, I trust you after all! Let's just hope our efforts pay off."
Finally, an hour's walk later, they saw what they were looking for.
"The ocean!" Luffy exclaimed, running down a sandy beach. " Finally. "
"The ocean is really beautiful here." Shirahoshi observed, sitting down on the sand, not at all unhappy to have finally arrived at her destination. "Did you see the color of the water? It looks like turquoise! I really want to swim."
"Are you good at this discipline?" Nami questioned her.
"I am a champion swimmer! In truth, I swim better than I run."
"I would just sunbathe on this beautiful beach." Nami stated, bending down to pick up a handful of sand. "This sand is so white and soft! Nothing like what we are used to seeing."
For his part, not seeming at all interested in the beach, Law directed his gaze to the horizon and seemed to survey the ocean.
"What are you doing, Tra-o?" Luffy questioned him.
"No, nothing." Law stated. "Just, like an idiot, I thought to myself that maybe we can find a way to get off this island, by coming here! Like seeing a boat."
"Maybe we can find one if we go around the island." The boy asserted.
Suddenly, turning his gaze to the side, the boy felt a sharp little cry come out of my mouth.
"What's the matter with you?" Law wondered, turning to him.
He was even more surprised, seeing that Luffy's eyes had almost popped out of their sockets. Then, his face was quickly crossed with a big smile and he pointed at something.
"Look over there."
Curious to know what made him overjoyed, his friends obeyed and it was Nami who first noticed what he was pointing at. In turn, she began to smile with joy.
In the distance, a human figure was picking up pieces of wood that had washed up here and there on the beach and gathering them under his arm.
"Is anyone there?" Shirahoshi wondered. "There really is someone."
Immediately, the four companions began to run towards the silhouette of the stranger.
"Hey, you." Shouted Luffy, to a stranger, who had a masculine build. "Hey, can you hear us?"
The boy, since he was indeed one, turned around. As soon as he saw them, he dropped his stock of wood and dropped the cigarette that was in his mouth, which was wide open. Now that he had turned around, Luffy knew who was the fifth survivor he had just met on this island.
« SANJI ! »
being frozen, the blond boy seemed to wonder if he was dreaming. Finally, putting his hand in front of his hair, he brushed back the locks that covered his left eye, to make sure he wasn't hallucinating. Finally, he says.
"Guys? Is that you?"
"SANJI!" Luffy shouted, jumping towards him.
Nevertheless, moving like a ninja, Sanji avoided being hugged by Luffy, before pushing him away, behind him. Then, rushing towards the others, he began to perform a strange dance, before heading towards Nami.
"NAMI-SWAAAAANNNNN!" He cried, as hearts appeared in his eyes. "I'm so happy to see you! Let me give you a hug."
Nonetheless, seeing him directing his arms and lips towards her, Nami clenched her fist before punching Sanji. The swollen cheek, the blond collapsed on the ground. Despite this, his eyes still looked like hearts.
"Nami-swan...you're still so strong and violent...that's why I love you."
Surprised at his behavior, Shirahoshi asked.
" Who is he ? "
Glancing at her, Sanji froze again. Then, getting up in silence, he dusted off his clothes, before running his hand through his hair. Then, saluting Shirahoshi, he declared.
"Pleased to meet you! My name is Sanji! Gentleman and defender of any woman in danger! May I have the chance to know your name, Miss?"
"Huh... I... My name is Shirahoshi."
"Pleased, Shirahoshi-san."
Then, the boy turned to Law and immediately his smile and sympathy disappeared from his face.
"Huh…are you there too, Law? I would have preferred to see Vivi-san again."
" Thanks, that's nice. " The boy declared.
Simply shrugging, Sanji pulled out a cigarette from a pack, along with a lighter, and began to light it while staring at the ocean that stretched as far as the eye could see.
"I really don't know where we landed! But, in any case, this island is far from being paradise! It pisses me off to have to stay here for I don't know how much longer, while creatures prowl not far away! Just thinking of those poor high school students who are waiting for my arrival to be saved..."
"Are you alone?" Law asked him.
"No, I'm also part of a group of four people." He replied! The others have been gone for a while to fetch wood! But, now, I'm sure we can now consider the fact that we are a group of eight people! Nami-swan...Shirahoshi-san...trust me to protect you. "
Seeing him do his love dance again, Nami grabbed Shirahoshi's arm before whispering in his ear.
"Watch out for him! He's not mean, but he's a lecherous-minded boy."
It did not take more for the hostess to identify the character of this boy.
Eventually calming down, Sanji took another puff of smoke and eventually exhaled it as he asked.
"Did you find a way to get off this island?"
"Not really." Law confessed. "Truly, I thought coming here might help our situation."
"Why? Do you have an idea, Sanji?" Luffy questioned him.
For all answer, Sanji walked towards a small building. Standing upright against a tree, she appeared to be half finished. Approaching it, Luffy and his friends were surprised to realize what was happening.
"But it's... a raft."
"Not possible." Nami exclaimed. "Are you really building one? But tell me, have you ever made one before?"
"Not at all." He confessed. "We're just having a hard time finishing it."
He exhaled a volute of whitish smoke which disappeared in the distance, carried away by a light maritime wind.
"But thanks to this, we'll be able to leave this damned island." He stated, smiling confidently, while showing his raft, which was half finished.
"What?" Law wondered. "Do you really want to sail the ocean with...that thing? Is that a joke?"
The thing in question was a raft comprising four small deformed trunks, linked together by vines and covered with a little ivy, which was to provide watertightness. Despite the fact that it had the silhouette of a sea transport, it was far from finished. To be honest, it looked more like the Titanic than anything else. That it could float on water without any load would have already been a miracle. However, it was simply impossible for it to be able to float with people on it.
"Don't look at it like it's trash." Sanji said, looking at the raft. "I know it's far from finished! Nevertheless, I'm sure we can use it to get out of here."
"I'm not really sure." Nami retorted. "Run away floating on that? We'll definitely sink after we put it in the water! It would be much safer to cross the ocean on a sponge, than on that pile of wood."
"It's true that it's quite risky." Law confirmed, examining the raft more closely. " The seal is not good, the ties are not tight enough and the fact that there is no float is a problem! If you want it to be useful to us, there are many things to review !
Listening to him, Sanji only scratched the back of his head, while affirming.
"Like I said, this is my first time building one! I have to admit, that's the most I can do! But are you really sure it's usable? I mean that, in any case, we can never find a better means of transport than that."
"Currently, all I can tell you with certainty is that your raft is not a means of transport at all." Assured Law. "It's probably not strong enough to be able to go a hundred meters with us on it."
"Anyway, where could we go once we leave this island?" Nami wanted to know. "I remind you that we have no idea where we are."
"Yes, and according to Law-san, we're hundreds of miles from the nearest land." Shirahoshi stated. "We can never reach them with such a means of transport! And, even if we did, how long, approximately, would we have to sail on the ocean, in your opinion? At the very least, I would say a long week and with much luck."
"Actually, not at all." Sanji retorted. "To tell you the truth, we are not far from another habitable place."
Immediately, the four people in front of him looked at him, trying to figure out if he was serious or not.
"What do you mean by that?" Law questioned him, who was certain that his theories were correct.
"Look closer at the ocean and scan its horizon."
"To see what?" Luffy questioned.
Since he didn't want to answer her, they had to squint to try to see what he was talking to them. But for a few tens of seconds, all Luffy could do was the ocean and a few seabirds flying over it.
"You're kidding us." Nami observed, her gaze hardening as time passed. " I see nothing. "
"No." Luffy suddenly stated. "I see something."
He had just seen what Sanji was trying to show them. The contours of an island looming in the distance. Luffy couldn't be sure but he noticed that it had an area equal to several square kilometers.
"I can't believe my eyes." Law said, who also managed to see it. "Tell me I'm not dreaming."
"What do you see?" Shirahoshi wanted to know.
"There's another island in the distance." Luffy explained to her. "But she seems to be smaller than this one."
"How is that possible?" Nami asked, turning to Law. "There's already this island that shouldn't exist, so there can't be a second one around, right?
The boy only shrugged, indicating that he had no answer to his question.
"The longer we stay on this island, the more unimaginable things happen to us. " He remarked. "An unidentified island, extinct animal species, high school students desperate to kill their classmates in order to survive…and now this!" The story of the Lord of the Rings is a joke compared to what we are going through! And again, I am certain that we are not at the end of our troubles. »
"We don't care if this island has to exist or not." Sanji exclaimed, pointing at the second island with the end of his cigarette. "What matters is that there is an escape, which could allow us to leave the horrors of this place behind for good."
"It's true that we couldn't find a worse place than here." Shirahoshi approved. "Plus, with any luck, there might not be any of those creatures out there."
"Maybe, but the island seems a long way off to me." Nami remarked, trying to calculate the distance between them. "There must be fifteen or twenty kilometers that separates us from her."
"No, it's much closer." Law corrected her. "I can calculate the distance that separates us from her thanks to the Pythagorean theorem, taking a scale of five feet."
Immediately, Luffy tilted his head to the side.
"Pika...gore? What is it?"
"Never mind." Law advised him.
Concentrating for a few seconds, Law remained silent long enough to be able to certify a precise answer to his problem. Finally, he finally affirms.
"I'm pretty sure that island is within three miles of our position."
"Five kilometers? Only?" Nami wondered, trying to recalculate the distance that separated them from the island. "It doesn't seem consistent to me at all."
"Do you understand?" Sanji exclaimed, looking at his new companions. "If this island is only a few kilometers away, we have a chance of reaching it with this raft."
"You'll have to upgrade it, if you want to use it." Law stated. "But I have to admit that your idea doesn't seem as impractical to me as I thought."
However, Luffy stated.
"Yes, but no one knows what we might find on this new island! If so, there are dinosaurs there."
" I want to call you stupid, but it's true that it may not be impossible. " Nami agreed. "It is impossible to know if this new island will be able to guarantee our safety."
Not really knowing what to do, Luffy asked his friends.
" What do you want to do ? "
Law began to sigh.
"Even if this plan is risky and there is a chance that we will end up drowning, I think we can always try our luck! At worst, we will only have to hang on to the trunks that make up the raft, to float to the island.
"I agree with him." Nami chimed in. "Anyway, I would do anything to leave this island of doom."
"After all, we have nothing to lose." Shirahoshi finished.
Sanji's smile widened once more as he finished his cigarette.
"Okay, in that case Stephane, let's form a united group of eight people and finish this raft to get out of here."
"Oh, it's true there are four of you too." Shirahoshi reminded himself. "I had completely forgotten about your friends."
"Speaking of them, who are the other people in your group?" Luffy wanted to know. "Usopp and Zoro are with you?"
Showing a face of disgust, Sanji questioned him.
"Do you really think I could survive on this island with Marimo? I'd rather kill myself than team up with him."
"Sanji!" A male voice called out suddenly.
Behind him, about fifty meters from us, a trio of high school students had just appeared, consisting of two boys and a girl. Each of them was loaded with a bundle of branches.
"Huh?" The schoolgirl wondered. " There is a lot of people ? "
Pulling off headphones, which were over his ears, one of the two boys was surprised when he recognized the faces of the people talking with Sanji.
"Mugiwara? Trafalgar? What are you doing here? You weren't even with us when we arrived on this island."
"It doesn't matter who we meet, it's always nice to finally meet other survivors! A little more and I could have thought that everyone was dead, except us. "Said a boy, with a pair glasses on his nose.
"Here are my party members." Sanji exclaimed, stepping behind them. "There's Apoo from class C, Koza from class D and, of course...
Introducing the girl from his group as if she were a celebrity, he made hearts appear in his eyes again.
"... Pudding-chan from class B."
"Glad to know you're alive." The girl affirmed, smiling charmingly.
Standing less polite than her, Apoo dropped his pieces of wood on the ground, before asking.
"No time for useless talk! Tell me, do you happen to know some important information about this island? Do you know where we are and what these monsters are? Damn it! What the hell is going on? going on with this island of doom?"
