"Oops!" Jinx exclaimed as she watched Raven fly backwards once again, her own pink energy breaking through Raven's shield. "I think I'm improving, actually."
Raven dusted herself off and got up from the ground, a sarcastic tone lacing her words. "Yeah... right."
Jinx's concern immediately took over as she approached Raven, examining her for any additional injuries. "Are you okay?"
Raven managed a small smile, appreciating Jinx's caring nature. "You need to concentrate on the emotion when you amplify or minimize your attacks. Now, you have to visualize different levels of power. Come on... let's try again."
"Aghh," Jinx groaned, feeling a bit fatigued herself as she observed her girlfriend's body for any signs of harm. "It's been two hours. I think you're more tired than me. I mean, you've been the punching bag a couple of times now."
"fine, then lets go meditate" raven told her.
"aahhgg" jinx complain making a tantrum
"just 15 minutes, you need to..."
"balance my emotion after training yeah yeah i know..." jinx imitated anoying to raven.
As they finished their meditation session, Jinx and Raven joined the rest of the team in the living room. Jinx made her usual dramatic entrance, plopping down on the couch next to Beast Boy, while Raven quietly slipped away to the kitchen to make some tea.
"How's the training going?" Robin asked, breaking the silence.
Jinx grinned mischievously. "Pretty boring, to be honest. But the fun part is that I can actually take out my anger on my girlfriend daily. It's like couples therapy." She glanced over at Raven, who raised an eyebrow in mild disapproval. "Just kidding, my sweet dark bird."
Raven felt a slight blush creep up her cheeks, feeling both embarrassed and loved at the same time. She was not accustomed to this kind of attention and being in the spotlight, but Jinx seemed to revel in it, proudly proclaiming their relationship status.
Raven approached Jinx with a cup of tea, handing it to her before taking a seat herself. Robin redirected his question to Raven this time, wanting to hear her perspective on the training.
"It's getting better," Raven replied, her voice calm. "Jinx is actually improving, and her meditation has been impressive."
Jinx interjected with a playful tone, "Well, duh! I've been meditating since childhood, remember? Hindi. I just don't brag about it like you do."
The Titans chuckled, enjoying the lighthearted banter between Jinx and Raven. Despite their differences, they made a great team, supporting each other's growth and finding joy in their unique dynamic.
The room was suddenly engulfed in a blaring red alarm, jolting Robin into immediate action. Without wasting a moment, he swiftly gathered the necessary information to determine the nature of the emergency.
"Rancid," he exclaimed, his voice laced with urgency. "He's causing havoc at the mall with his friends. Let's move!"
In response, everyone sprang to their feet, hastening towards the nearest exit. Raven, however, lingered behind, her attention fixed on Jinx, who wore a pleading expression.
"Please, let me come along," Jinx implored, her desire for action palpable. "It's been an entire month since I've engaged in a proper fight. I can handle myself, I promise."
Raven found herself torn, unsure of how to respond to Jinx's fervent request. Her gaze shifted to Robin, who paused momentarily, considering the situation.
"Well," Robin contemplated, his voice thoughtful yet resolute. "She needs to confront the realities of the world sooner or later. The decision is yours, Raven."
Caught between Jinx's eagerness and the weight of responsibility, Raven deliberated her choice, aware of the consequences it could entail.
Raven hesitated for a moment, torn between her desire to protect Jinx and the need for her to face the challenges of the real world. She understood that Jinx had been craving some action and that holding her back might not be the best solution. Taking a deep breath, Raven made her decision.
"Fine," she finally said, looking directly into Jinx's eyes. "But you have to promise me that you'll exercise control and use your powers responsibly. No unnecessary risks."
Jinx's face lit up with excitement, grateful for Raven's trust. "I promise, I'll be careful. You can count on me."
Raven nodded, her expression still tinged with concern. She knew that she couldn't shield Jinx from every danger forever, and this could be an opportunity for her to learn and grow. With a nod to Robin, they all hurried out of the Titans Tower, ready to face Rancid and his crew at the mall, with Jinx eager to prove herself
Arriving at the mall, the Titans were greeted by a scene of utter chaos. Rancid, accompanied by a gang of motorcycle thugs, wreaked havoc throughout the building. Gunshots echoed, causing panic among the fleeing crowds. Windows shattered, stores were pillaged, and the air was filled with the deafening sounds of their raucous celebration. The thugs brazenly targeted women, subjecting them to unwanted advances and attempts at forced kisses, further heightening the atmosphere of terror.
Spotting Rancid at the center of the mall, standing nonchalantly amidst a lavish fountain, Robin couldn't contain his anger. He raised his voice, projecting it above the cacophony, and called out to the miscreant.
"Rancid!" Robin bellowed, his tone seething with determination. "You know we'll bring you down. Why are you causing this mess?"
Rancid, his arrogance oozing from every pore, smirked as he responded to Robin's challenge.
"Well, well, if it isn't the bird boy himself," Rancid sneered, reveling in his own insolence. "How's it going, bro?"
"Cut the act, Rancid," Robin retorted sharply, his voice tinged with a mix of frustration and warning. "If you stop now, I might consider reducing your jail time."
Rancid's response was laced with defiance as he dismissed Robin's plea, his minions rallying behind him, their weapons firing into the air.
"Stop? We're not doing anything wrong," Rancid scoffed, relishing the chaos. "We're just having a little fun, isn't that right, my lovely?" he said, referring to the beautiful redhead he forcibly embraced.
Robin's patience reached its limit, his resolve firm. With a firm command, he rallied his team.
"Have it your way, then. Titans, go!" he declared, signaling the start of their confrontation with Rancid and his gang.
The Titans sprang into action, each member engaging with Rancid's gang members to contain the chaos and protect the innocent bystanders. Robin led the charge, skillfully maneuvering through the crowd, while Starfire unleashed her alien powers, sending energy blasts towards the thugs. Cyborg's robotic strength neutralized any threats in he path.
Raven and Jinx fought side by side, their contrasting powers complementing each other. Raven's dark energy swirled around her, creating shields to protect themselves and innocent civilians. Jinx, with her newfound control over her powers, unleashed powerful blasts of pink energy, precisely targeting the gang members without causing collateral damage.
Despite the chaos, the Titans maintained their focus on subduing Rancid and his gang while ensuring the safety of everyone present. As the fight intensified, Jinx's excitement grew, but Raven kept a watchful eye on her, ready to intervene if necessary.
As Jinx ventured forth, her mind brimming with anticipation, she was consumed by a burning desire to test the extent of her newfound powers. Ignoring any concerns or dangers that may lie ahead, she convinced herself that she was ready and eagerly yearned to uncover the secrets behind Trigon's enigmatic abilities. With a smile, she deliberately distanced herself from Raven, eager to gauge her own potential without any interference.
Her attention fell upon a group of six thugs who had cornered a group of helpless computer store employees, their guns menacingly pointed at the terrified geeks. Jinx saw this as the perfect opportunity to put her powers to the test. With a whispered affirmation, she felt the surge of energy within her, her eyes glowing with a vibrant pink hue. Confidence surged through her veins.
"The hell with concentration," Jinx muttered to herself, brimming with a newfound audacity. "This is going to be fun."
Addressing the thugs with a mix of sarcasm and provocation, she taunted their masculinity, questioning their reliance on firearms.
"Hey, tough guys!" Jinx called out, her voice dripping with sardonic amusement. "Think you can swing your guns around? Pretty unmanly to need those things, don't you think?"
The motorcyclists, feeling insulted, directed their weapons towards her.
"What? You want to try me, little hoe?" one of them sneered, his hostility apparent.
"Bring it on," Jinx replied, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
In a synchronized motion, the thugs aimed their guns at her. However, Jinx's agility and reflexes proved to be exceptional. Swiftly, she evaded every bullet, her movements fluid and almost dance-like. The experience felt different now, easier, as if her abilities had been amplified. As the thugs found themselves out of ammunition, it was Jinx's turn to take control. With a snap of her fingers, their guns disintegrated into nothingness, leaving them defenseless.
Enraged by their sudden vulnerability, the thugs resorted to using their fists, launching a barrage of punches at Jinx. Yet, she found their feeble attempts at physical combat amusing, chuckling as she effortlessly electrified each assailant with a mere touch, rendering them incapacitated one by one.
"Ha! Piece of cake!" Jinx exclaimed triumphantly, reveling in her apparent victory. However, her attention was quickly drawn to the sound of revving motors beside her. It was Starfire, rushing to confront the remaining assailants. But in her overconfidence, Jinx believed she could outshine the alien heroine and rushed ahead, eager to claim the role of the hero. Little did she realize the magnitude of her mistake.
"Need a hand?" Jinx called out to Starfire, her pink energy crackling with power.
The red-haired alien momentarily halted, unsuspecting of the danger that was about to unfold. Unaware of the repercussions, Jinx unleashed a bright pink blast of energy, mistakenly assuming it would aid their cause. However, the blast not only incapacitated the violent men, but it also struck Starfire, causing her to fall in pain.
As Starfire crumpled to the ground, wracked with pain from Jinx's accidental attack, the lingering effects of the pink flames continued to dance on the jackets of Rancid's remaining allies. The intensity of Jinx's unleashed power had proven far too overwhelming for them to handle.
The chaotic scene froze as heroes and villains alike witnessed the aftermath of Jinx's misguided attack. The rebels who had been engaged in the conflict swiftly abandoned their violent intentions, realizing the severity of the situation. They hurriedly attended to their wounded comrades, their fear palpable.
"We give up! Fine!" some of them conceded, hastily retreating from the scene. Meanwhile, Robin had already apprehended Rancid, leaving him coughing and defeated.
Jinx's expression shifted abruptly from celebratory to alarmed as she realized the consequences of her reckless actions.
"Oh-oh," Jinx exclaimed, her voice filled with regret and concern.
Gathering her composure, Jinx approached the injured Starfire with a remorseful expression. She knelt beside the fallen hero, her voice filled with genuine concern.
"I'm so sorry, Starfire," Jinx whispered, her tone laced with regret.
Robin, having secured Rancid, joined them, his gaze alternating between Jinx and the injured Starfire.
Raven approached Starfire, utilizing her healing abilities to assess the extent of the damage. After a brief examination, she reassured the concerned group.
"there is no damage. She's just stunned. She'll be fine," Raven declared, offering a glimmer of relief.
Robin stood nearby, his arms crossed, his expression a blend of reprimand and understanding. He acknowledged the need to address Jinx's actions and ensure that there would be consequences for her reckless behavior. However, for the moment, his priority was Starfire's well-being.
"We'll need to address this later" Robin asserted firmly, emphasizing the gravity of the situation. "But for now, let's focus on getting Starfire the help she needs."
Jinx attempted to explain herself, her voice filled with a mix of regret and confusion. She stumbled over her words, struggling to justify her actions.
"I... I just... It was... I mean, it was a normal attack," Jinx faltered, seeking understanding.
Raven, however, remained firm and direct, her voice lacking any softness. While she cared deeply for Jinx, she adhered to a strict sense of discipline when it came to matters as serious as this.
"I told you to avoid unnecessary risks," Raven responded sternly. "Let's go. You will need to meditate."
Jinx's voice trembled with a hint of defiance. "Raven, I really think I was in control."
Raven's anger flared, her frustration boiling over. "What control, Jinx?!" she yelled, her tone laced with anger. "I specifically told you to avoid this! You are NOT coming on another mission again!"
Jinx's heart sank as Raven's harsh words pierced through her, weighed down by the weight of her mistake. She followed Raven, accepting her punishment, feeling like she had let everyone down.
Back at the Titans' Tower, Starfire was not in danger. However, at Cyborg's suggestion, she remained in the infirmary for further observation to ensure her full recovery.
Meanwhile, Robin and Raven engaged in a conversation, discussing the incident. Jinx, on the other hand, was assigned a full hour of meditation on the rooftop, where she could be monitored by the security cameras.
Robin, ever the mediator, attempted to offer some perspective.
"It wasn't a big deal, Rae. Cut her some slack," Robin suggested, his voice tinged with empathy. "I know she didn't mean to. It was just an unfortunate outcome."
"To Starfire, it may not have been severe, but she's an alien, stronger than most of us," Raven reasoned. "She can take it. But what if she had accidentally killed one of the thugs? She would have faced a trial, maybe even jail time!"
Robin paused, acknowledging Raven's perspective, yet also urging her to consider Jinx's transformation.
"Raven, you're overthinking. Look, you're right, it could have been much worse. I know firsthand what it's like to be an overthinker, always focusing on the negative aspects of every situation and every little detail. But you need to remember, she's not like us. She's not like you. Remember, Raven," he emphasized his words, "she was a thief. Just a year ago, she was against us. Just a month ago, she was free to do whatever she wanted. And now, she's trying to help..."
"I know, Robin," Raven replied, her voice softening. "I just worry. I don't want anyone to get hurt because of our actions, intentional or not."
Robin placed a hand on her shoulder, offering reassurance. "I understand your concern, Raven. We all do. But we also need to remember that people can change. Jinx has chosen a different path now, and it's our duty to guide her and help her become a better hero."
As the meditation hour for Jinx came to an end, Raven joined her on the rooftop. Jinx looked up, her eyes serious and filled with a mix of hurt and defiance.
"What? You're coming to yell at me again?" Jinx asked, her tone defensive. "You know I didn't mean to harm Starfire."
Raven sighed, realizing that approaching this situation with anger would only further strain their relationship. She took a seat beside Jinx, her voice softer this time.
"I know," she admitted, trying to find the right words. "I'm sorry for yelling at you before. It wasn't the right way to handle it."
Jinx remained silent, her eyes still closed in meditation. After a moment, she spoke again, her words carrying a hint of vulnerability.
"You really suck at this, huh?" Jinx asked, her voice laced with a mix of frustration and disappointment. "At being a girlfriend?"
Raven couldn't help but let out a small, self-deprecating chuckle. "You can tell? I guess I haven't been making the best impression," she admitted. "I just want you to be safe, and I'm sorry if I've mishandled things."
Jinx's eyes fluttered open, and she turned to face Raven. "Putting me in a bubble won't solve anything, Raven," she said, her tone assertive yet empathetic. "And yelling at me will only make things worse."
"I wish you would've just..." the half-demon began to say, but her words were cut off as she saw Jinx rise from the ground.
"Don't start with that again, Raven. You promised," Jinx interjected. "I won't give you this." She pointed to the stone on her forehead, impressing Raven with her ability to understand her own thoughts. "Now, less than ever, I care about you. So, you stay here and reflect on what you've done. You're grounded." Jinx left the rooftop with a smile, while Raven gazed at her in admiration, overwhelmed by deep affection.
