Dear Tonks,
I have exciting news! Harry and I are dating!
This year I've been following Hermione's advice about not being nervous around him as best as I could. It was hard at first, but it feels so much easier to just be myself now. And it turns out that she was right. He kissed me in the common room after a Quidditch match!
Ron's having a stink about it, but he'll get over it. He's too protective, but this is Harry we're talking about. Ron knows he has nothing to worry about.
I hope everything's going well with you, but I know you won't be able to tell me much. I still enjoy hearing from you.
Best,
Ginny Weasley
Tonks chewed on the inside of her cheek as Fleur read Ginny's letter. It had felt easier to hand it over and let Fleur read it for herself instead of Tonks explaining the sinking feeling in her stomach.
The second Fleur lowered the letter, Tonks said, "I'm happy for them. I really am. Ginny told me two summers ago how much she liked Harry. This is great for her. It's just…"
Fleur carefully refolded the letter and sat it on the table in front of them, giving Tonks time to gather her thoughts. As if time would actually help Tonks make sense of the mess inside of her.
"A teenager is having better luck in her love life than I am," Tonks said, deciding that the truth was better than beating around the bush. "That sounds cruel. Ginny and Harry deserve to be happy as much as anyone else. Especially Harry, with everything he's been through. Everything he's istill/i going through. I don't bedruge him that. It's just…"
"It's hard when your own love life is a mess," Fleur finished for her.
Tonks gave her a sheepish smile. She'd wanted to be careful about how she worded what she was thinking. After all, she'd been helping Fleur plan a wedding for months, and she didn't want it to seem like she was upset about Fleur's happiness either.
"I guess," Tonks said. She glanced at the folded parchment. "I should write back, but I don't know what to say."
Fleur patted her on the shoulder. "Don't worry. I can help with that."
Tonks gave her a soft smile. "Thank you."
