Chapter 5: Parvati Patil
Author's Note: I will bash Ron in this one-shot because the crap he pulled during the Yule Ball was unacceptable so enjoy.
The Yule Ball was two weeks from now and Harry was sitting in the Great Hall and is having a tough time conceding to the rejection by his crush Cho Chang who is going to the winter formal ball with Cedric Diggory. He did give Professor McGonagall his word that he will get a date but, after getting rejected by the Asian Ravenclaw he wasn't so sure on who to ask. He didn't know much about any of the girls in the school except for Ginny, Hermione. As well as not understanding girls since the Dursleys forbid Harry from having any friends especially girls when he was younger. He spots Parvati Patil sitting down on the other side of the Gryffindor table and talking to her friends Lavender Brown and Demelza Robins despite her not being a bombshell like Cho Chang, Fleur Delacour and Daphne Greengrass, Parvati was just as pretty with her jet-black hair, dark mocha skin, chocolate brown eyes, and subtle curves. He walks up to Parvati with all the courage he can muster and said, "Hey Parvati will you go to the Yule Ball with me?"
She stops talking to her friends and went into a fit of giggles. Harry waited for her to stop giggling, as he has his fingers crossed in his pockets
"Sure, Harry I will go with you" Parvati said as she blushes.
"Thanks" said Harry in relief. "Lavender- will you go with Ron"
"Sorry Harry I'm going with Seamus" Lavender said
"Oh" Harry sighed he then asks Demelza "How about you Demelza would you go with Ron?"
"Uh Dean asked me to go with him yesterday Harry I'm sorry" Demezla said
"What about Hermione Harry?" Parvati asked
"She is going with someone else" Harry told her
"Who she is going with?" she asked surprised
"I have no clue who Hermione is going out with" he shrugged, "So what about Ron?"
"I could ask my sister Padma she's in Ravenclaw and I could ask her to go to the ball with Ron" she said
"Yeah, that would be great" Harry said, "Let me know how that goes okay"
"Sure Harry I'll do that." Parvati said.
"Great see I'll see you then" Harry said walking back to Ron and Hermione.
"Wait Harry" Parvati said stopping Harry
Harry turns around and asks, "What is it Parvati?"
"I was wondering if we could get to know each other a bit better since the Yule Ball is two weeks away"
"Really you want to get know me better" Harry said surprised
"Of course, Harry there's probably more about you than battling Basilisks, Dragons, Dementors and running Slytherin into the ground at quidditch" Parvati told Harry
"Alright sure I like that, and I want to get to know you as well despite you being one of the gossip queens of Hogwarts" Harry said
"Likewise Harry" Parvati giggled as she went back to talking to her friends and Harry went back to Ron and Hermione.
Two weeks later, Harry and Parvati got to know one another more than what people say about them like being an attention-seeker or a ditzy gossip queen. Harry, Ron, Dean, Seamus, and Neville walk down from the 4th year boy's dormitory to the Common Room in their dress robes. Dean and Seamus see their dates Demezla and Lavender coming from the 4th girl's dormitory and before they went over to their dates, the two girls tell Harry that Parvati will be coming down soon and he sits down on the couch to wait. While Ron and Neville go to the Ravenclaw Common to pick up their dates Parvati's twin sister Padma and a third year Ravenclaw girl named Luna Lovegood. Both Harry and Ron were surprised at this but remembering that Ginny threw a nasty temper tantrum in the great hall last week when she saw Harry hanging out with Parvati that brought the attention of Professor McGonagall who told her that she cannot go to the Yule Ball as well as her Hogsmeade privileges being taken away for the year.
"Harry" Parvati said as she walked into the Common Room from the 4th year girl's dormitory.
Harry turns his and looks at Parvati and was stunned at how Parvati looked in her pink dress robes he gets up and says "Wow Vati you gussied up."
Parvati blushes at her nickname and replies with "You look great as well Harry green really suits you"
"Yeah, I would have done well in Slytherin" Harry said sarcastically.
"I could see you in Slytherin but then again we wouldn't see the look on Malfoy's face every time when we win the House cup with you, Hermione, and Ron bringing in the clutch points." Parvati giggled
"Yeah, that always happen" Harry chuckled he held out his arm and asks, "Are you ready to go?"
"Yep, let's go" Parvati said smiling as she links her arm to Harry's arm, and they walk out of the common room and downstairs to the Great Hall.
When Harry and Parvati got to the Entrance Hall, they see all the students in their dress robes eager to go inside the converted Great Hall. They walked over to Parvati's sister Padma who was wearing similar dress that Parvati was wearing but instead of being pink it was blue. She didn't look to enthusiastic of having Ron as a Yule Ball date and neither was Ron with her as well.
McGonagall walks over to Harry and Parvati and tells them to follow her into a room where the other Champions waiting. Upon walking in they see the other Champions like Fleur and her date Rodger Davies who is the Captain of Ravenclaw Quidditch team, Cedric, and Cho who at first glance Harry would be jealous of them but since he was hanging out with Parvati for two weeks he wasn't anymore. Viktor and his date who happens to be Hermione with her hair being sleek instead of bushy and tied into an elegant knot as well as her teeth straighten no longer having buck teeth. Also, she was wearing a blue periwinkle dress that hugged her body.
Parvati Looked at Hermione with a glint of jealously in her eyes but Harry whispers in her ear assuring her with "Don't worry Vati you're a lot prettier than her and Cho" which made her blush hard and her panties were a bit wet as well. With five minutes to eight McGonagall instructs the Champions and their dates to line up with Fleur and Rodger in front, Cedric, and Cho in second, Viktor and Hermione were third and finally, Harry and Parvati were in the back.
"Okay it's time to go into the Great Hall and start the opening dance" McGonagall said.
The Champions and their dates walked into Great Hall arm and arm to the dance floor to begin the opening waltz. As they were walking everyone cheered for the Champions and their dates except for some individuals like Romilda Vane a third year Gryffindor who looked at Parvati with pure Jealousy so did Michael Corner a fourth year Ravenclaw who looked at Cedric as he was about to explode with rage the same could be said with Ron as he snarls at Viktor. As the cheering subsides the music for the waltz starts to play. Harry grabs Parvati by the waist and starts to dance he remembers practicing with Parvati, McGonagall, and Hermione before the event after stepping on their toes countless times he was able to do the opening waltz with no trouble.
As the opening dance was over the Champions and their dates sat at a table with Ludo Bagman, Barty Crouch sr. his assistant Percy Weasley, and the headmasters. Percy was about to sit in-between Harry and Parvati but Parvati grabs Harry's hand making the third Weasley son sit somewhere else. They were given some menus despite not having any waiters Harry ordered Steak with Mash Potatoes and some Peas while Parvati ordered a Chicken Breast with roasted potatoes and mixed veggies. The House-Elves never fail to amaze Harry with their cooking as he enjoys his food while talking to Parvati in-between bites and at the same time ignoring Fleur's rant about Hogwarts food being too heavy for her and Hermione blabbing on and on about S.P.E.W to Viktor who was lost in the conversation.
After the Champions and everyone else enjoyed the fruits of the House-Elves labor, Professor Flitwick calls for the students' attention that is going to be some special entertainment tonight Harry wasn't sure who was this special entertainment Flitwick said but Parvati grabbed Harry and pulled him into a crowd of students gathering around a stage that was erected from the wall.
"Harry come on!" Parvati screamed "They're about to start!"
"Who's going to start Vati?" he asked as they politely push the crowd to the front of the stage Flitwick called them a band that doesn't need an introduction.
"Vati who are they?" Harry asked
Parvati stop screaming and replies, "The band is The Weird Sisters honestly Harry, have you been living under a rock?"
"No, I haven't" Harry said, "Who's the lead singer?"
"Oh, that's Myron Wagtail"
Myron continues "Are you ready for some real music!?" The crowd screams to the wizarding band's approval. "I want to see your hands in the air" Everyone raises their hands began to jump up and down as the band starts to play a faster beat. "You're looking good! Now that you guys are all fired up the lads and I have a new dance to teach you tonight!"
"I love their music!" Parvati shouted, bouncing up and down with excitement. With everyone including Parvati jumping up and down to the weird sisters Harry did the same thing as well.
"Are you ready?!" Myron shouted, "ARE YOU READY?!" He launched into the first verse.
"Move your body like a troll learnin' to Rock n' Roll!"
The next hour was a complete blur for Harry. All he remembered was people screaming and jumping up and down. For the first time in fourteen years of his life Harry was having fun and Parvati was enjoying herself as well. Whenever the Weird Sister repeat a question it's replied with a yes from Harry and Parvati if they can dance like Hippogriffs and yes, they can. It wasn't so much dancing it was just jumping down flailing their arms about.
With the night still young and Learning to do the Hippogriff dance now over. The Weird Sisters continued to play more songs, Harry and Parvati danced to them like there was no tomorrow until they were tired and left the dance floor to get some drinks until they hear "Hey Harry could you come over here" It was Cedric who was calling Harry over to where Cedric and Cho are.
"Hey, Harry, Parvati" Cedric and Cho said in unison as Harry and Parvati walked over to the table.
"Hey Cedric, Cho" Harry and Parvati greeted back as they take a seat.
"How the Yule Ball going for you Harry?" Cho asked.
"It's good I never danced like that before in my life" Harry said
"Well, that's The Weird Sisters for ya" Cedric chuckled as he chimed in
"Yep, I love their music" Parvati said.
"Me too" Cho agreed.
"Yeah, but what did you want to talk about?" Harry said curious about why Cedric wanted to talk about
"Um Cho, Parvati could you two get some drinks while I talk to Harry" Cedric excused the girls as he wanted to talk to Harry alone.
"Alright Cedric" Cho said as she gets up along with Parvati and walked away to the punch bowl.
As the girls leave for the punch bowl Cedric turned his attention to Harry "I owe you one for telling me about the Dragons. You know that golden egg? Does yours wail when you open it?"
"Yeah, it does it almost blow my eardrums out every time I open it" Harry said
Cedric laughed and tells him "You have to put it in water to hear the song."
"Song? What song? Harry asked
"When you put the egg in the water you hear a song it gives you a clue for the next task" Cedric replied
"Wow I never even thought of doing that um thanks Cedric" Harry said
"Don't mention it." Cedric told Harry.
"So, where can I go to listen this song?" Harry asked.
"Go to the Prefect's Bathroom which is the fourth door to the left and there is a statue of Boris the Bewildered also the password is 'pine fresh' place the egg in the water for you to hear the song. Cedric told him.
"Alright thanks Cedric" Harry said looking forward to figuring out the clue himself.
Parvati and Cho came back to the table with drinks, Cho gave Cedric his drink and sat on his lap while Parvati gave Harry his drink and sat on his lap which made him blush as his crotch was being pressed by Parvati's arse and she too blushed as well.
"So, what did you and Harry talk about Cedric?" Cho asked.
"I told him about the Golden egg and inside of it is a clue for the second task" Cedric tells Cho.
"Interesting" Cho said
"You know what's inside the egg Cedric?" Parvati asked.
"Yep, and what's inside the egg is a song that you hear when you put the egg in the water" Cedric said.
"Ah so that's why the egg was shrieking when Harry tried to open it in the common room when he took it from the Dragon" Parvati said
"Yeah, and I owed Harry big time for helping me out with the Dragons" Cedric said
"That's really noble of you Ced" Cho said
"Well, the real noble one is Harry. Like I said he was the one to tell me about the Dragons and I wouldn't be here without him" Cedric said
"It's really nothing" Harry chuckled then asks, "Would you do the same for me?"
"Well of course Harry" Cedric answered, "After all we are Hogwarts Champions and you being unjustly put in the Tournament, I would have help you as well."
"I'm glad that you two would look out for each other it's really nice" Cho said smiling she then asks Parvati "How about you Parvati?"
"I know that Harry is a nice guy and wouldn't let anyone get hurt." Parvati replied.
"Really?" Cedric and Harry asked in unison.
"Yeah" Cho and Parvati said as they leaned in closer to their dates.
Harry and Parvati started kissing with Cedric and Cho following suite. This was Harry's first kiss Parvati's lips felt soft and warm also tasted sweet. There were some onlookers and passersby going ooo and ahh at Harry and Parvati they ignored them and continued to kiss. As the two Hogwarts Champions and their dates were kissing each other, talking, and having fun until Padma walked over to the table where her sister and her Harry as well Cedric and Cho were sitting after being dismissed by Ron.
"Hey Padma" Parvati, Harry, Cedric, and Cho said in unison
"Hey sis, Harry, Cho, and Cedric" Padma greeted back.
"Padma where's Ron?" Harry asked
"Ugh That ungrateful selfish glutton!" Padma snapped.
"What did you guys do?" Cho asked
"Nothing we just sat there doing nothing while he glares at Viktor Krum who was dancing with Hermione" she replied I don't know what's his problem and I don't care" Padma continued as she folds her arms "Just great my night is totally ruined."
Harry gets up and assures Padma "Don't worry Padma I'll talk to Ron about this"
"Harry you don't have to do this" Padma said.
"No, I want to see what's up with him." Harry told her.
"I am coming with you Harry" Parvati said getting up.
"Alright Vati come on" Harry said.
"Thanks Harry and sis, I'll see you guys later" Padma said as she walks away but was asked to dance by a 5th year Slytherin boy and accepted his offer.
Harry and Parvati walk over to Ron's table where Ron is still glaring at Viktor and Hermione who are still on the Dance floor dancing like there was no tomorrow.
"Ron!" Harry said snapping Ron out of his trance of Jealousy
"Harry mate where you been?" Ron said as he looks at Harry and Parvati walking up to him.
"That's not your concern" Harry said, "Ron why did you dismissed Padma?" Harry asked.
"Who's that again?"
"My sister you idiot!" Parvati snapped.
"Whatever she wasn't into me anyway" Ron shrugged "Besides why do you even care Harry? We all know that you are just using Parvati to make that Chink who rejected you jealous and regret her decision in choosing that pretty boy over you."
Angry at the accusation Harry begins to relay everything to his soon-to be his best friend in a rather fierce tone "Let me tell you something Ronald I would never ever do something like that to hurt both Parvati and Cho. How could you even say that? When you that I was hanging out with Parvati for two weeks before the Yule Ball even started. Why are you acting like this? It's a party Ronald have fun but then again you dismissed Padma and now she's dancing with a Slytherin"
"So, what that I don't care if that-"
"Hey Ron, Harry, and Parvati" Hermione interrupts Ron as she arrives to sit down on Padma's empty seat her face slightly pink from dancing.
"Hi Hermione" Harry said Ron didn't say anything.
"Is it hot in here or it's just me?" Hermione said breathlessly fanning herself out. She looks at her two friends with a concerned look as they continue to glare at each other "What's going on here? Guys this supposed to be party and we are meant to have fun."
"Yeah, Ron we supposed to have fun answer her question you know what I'll do it for you since you like people doing stuff for you" Harry said "Ron dismissed Padma because you were dancing with Viktor Krum and now, she's dancing happily with a 5th year Slytherin"
"Ron I can't believe you dismissed Padma like that, I thought you would have the time get to know Padma a bit before the ball like Harry did with her sister" Hermione told Ron.
"Whatever she wasn't even into me anyway it seems that she is happily fraternizing with that slimy Slytherin just like you with Vicky" Ron said, "I bet Vicky only asked you to get close to know what we are doing."
As if Harry, Hermione, and Parvati weren't angry enough at Ron for dismissing Padma, saying that Hermione and Padma were 'Fraternizing' with two individuals that were from Durmstrang and Slytherin made them even more furious.
"YOU UNGREATFUL SELFISH LANKY GLUTTON!" Hermione screamed at the top of her lungs "YOU HONSETLY THINK THAT ME GOING TO THE YULE BALL WITH VIKTOR KRUM THE QUDDITCH STAR THAT YOU GO GOO-GOO AND GAGA OVER IS CONSIDERED FRATENIZING WITH THE ENEMY WHEN YOU TRIED TO ASK FLUER TO THE BALL!"
"B-But that's just different!"
"HOW IS THAT FUCKING DIFFERENT RONALD?!" Hermione screeched.
With nothing to say Ron just sat there with his mouth open like a fish out of water as everyone was staring and giggling at Ron and Hermione.
"You know what Ronald I thought you changed after you abandoned Harry when accused him of putting his name in the Goblet of Fire but no your still that ungrateful selfish prat and from this day forward we are no longer friends, good luck finding anyone who could deal with your goddamn prejudices and your pig-like eating habits!" she screamed as she leaves in the crowd of students.
"Harry are you going to say something!" Ron said looking at Harry who didn't say anything and try to intervene the last argument of Ron and Hermione.
"No, I don't have to Ronald not anymore." Harry told Ron "I'm siding with Hermione on this. It seems that you can't let jealousy go for one simple stupid event that happens only once in our teenage lives and you have completely fucked it up for yourself and you try to bring me and Hermione down with you. All because you didn't have the fucking courage to ask Hermione to go with you. So yeah, in conclusion just like what she said good luck in finding someone who could deal with you." Harry said as he and Parvati walk back to Cedric and Cho's table.
With his two best friends have gone their separate ways Ron felt nothing but rage as he sees Hermione in the arms of Viktor Krum and turns his head over to Cedric and Cho's table and sees Harry 'fraternizing' with Cedric which made Ron even angrier. He gets up from his chair and charges at Hermione and screams "YOU FILTHY TREACHOUS BACK-STABBING MUDBLOOD WHORE!" This shocked everyone nobody would even think that Ron or anyone from the Weasley Family would say that derogatory slur.
Not wanting Hermione to be hurt by their former best friend Harry intercepts Ron with a sidekick to his temple knocking the lanky red head into a table. Everyone circles the two Gryffindors Hermione and Parvati tried to stop them however their voices were drowned out by the crowd egging on Harry and Ron to fight. With his head throbbing in pain, Ron gets back up and charges at Harry, but the raven-haired Gryffindor was quicker. Harry kicks the youngest Weasley in the chest, Ron groans in pain as he grasps his chest, he gets back up and tries to charge at Harry once more but was punched and kicked. Parvati, Hermione, Cedric, Cho, and the other patrons widened their eyes and was awe at Harry winning the fight with Martial Arts soon enough Ron was down and covered with bruises on his face and blood dripping down his nose as well as moaning and groaning in pain.
"LET THAT BE A FUCKING LESSON WEASLBEE TO NEVER EVER CHARGE AT A LADY, YOU PIECE OF FUCKING SHIT!" Harry thundered
Ron got back up ready to fight Harry who got ready into a fighting stance until Professors McGonagall and Snape came in the circle and McGonagall yells "WHAT IS GOING ON HERE MR. POTTER AND MR. WEASELY EXPLAIN!?"
Without warning Snape walks up to Ron and casts Episkey healing Ron's injuries McGonagall looks at Harry and Ron and was about punish the two for fighting during the event.
Hermione stood between McGonagall, Harry, and Ron, she tells McGonagall as tears starts to flow down her cheeks "Professor, Ronald called me Mudblood and charged at me all for going to the Yule Ball with Viktor"
McGonagall gasps at this and says to Ron in furious tone "Mr. Weasley you ought to be ashamed of yourself for letting that derogatory slur roll off your tounge and to charge at Ms. Granger just because she accepted the offer to go the ball with another Triwizard Tournament Champion that will be fifty points from Gryffindor. she then informs him "You will be serving Detention for two weeks and you will not be able to go to Hogsmeade for the rest of year also you will be staying at the dungeons to prevent any further incidents with Mr. Potter. Your Parents will be informed of behavior and Punishment as well is that clear?"
The lanky red head nodded his head in agreement as walks over to his new place to stay, much to everyone's relief. Harry was given complements on his surprising skills at Martial Arts. Fred and George were embarrassed that Ron act this way. Their Parents are not going to be happy when they catch wind on Ron's behavior tonight.
As the Crowd dispersed Harry, Parvati, Viktor, Hermione, Cedric, and Cho went to a table and talk for a bit.
"Are you okay Hermione?" Harry asked
"Yeah, I'm okay Harry" Hermione said then starts to cry "I'm sorry it just I thought that Ron would at least have fun tonight and not try attack me because I am going with someone else other than him."
"I thought the same thing too Hermione but like his sister he is a selfish ungrateful idiot who can't accept what he has front of him" Harry told Hermione
"There is no arguing with you on that one because both Ron and Ginny like to burn bridges not build them." Hermione said.
"So, the Golden Trio is now dead Harry?" Parvati asked.
"Yes, Vati the Golden Trio is officially dead and it's time for me to expand my friendship after talking to Cho and Cedric tonight made realize that Hogwarts is not just Gryffindor and that git Malfoy and his merry band of Sycophants but the other houses." Harry said
"That's good to hear Harry I guess it's time we connect with other people instead of that lanky red-headed stepchild idiot" Hermione chimed in
"I'm with you on that one as well Harry and Hermione, Hogwarts is a big place and you two really should connect with other people from the other houses" Parvati said, she looks at The Weird Sisters who are starting to play their final song "Oh look Harry the Band is still here and umm-"
"May I have this dance Vati? Harry offers as he held her hand.
Parvati blushes and giggles at this and says, "Of course you can Mister Potter."
Harry and Parvati walked over to the dance floor hand in hand to dance to The Weird Sisters final song. Harry grabs Parvati by the waist and Parvati wraps her arms around Harry's neck. As they were dancing Hermione who was dancing with Viktor gave Parvati and Harry a smile as she approves of the relationship between her Best friend and dormmate. The two Raven-Haired teens share another kiss as this was the night they would never forget.
