Alexandra did damage control for the next few days, she got the entire gang together at the boarding house, including Alaric and Jenna, much to Elena's charging, but Alexandra explained that ignorance meant death and that none of them would die on her watch. She explained that while Damon had knocked off Elijah, Elijah being an Original Vampire was alive and would be arriving to Mystic Falls soon, she also explained the real curse to them and about Klaus.
Elena seemed a little skeptic to believe, but Alexandra reminded the brunette that she, Matt, Tyler and Caroline had managed to subdue Katerina. Stefan was firm in his support of Alexandra's plan, Alexandra even explained that John Gilbert would roll into town soon enough and that he could save Elena since he was her father, but that he needed to die in order to do so. The group voted, since Alexandra had established that the choice affected mostly everyone and not just Elena and the majority had chosen to sacrifice John so Elena could live.
Another thing that she did was to explain the sirelines, she explained that Originals could not be killed, first because they were unkillable and second because if an Original died, the entire bloodline died with them, that meant other vampires that could exist, friends included, but Alexandra promised that she would handle the Original front and made everyone promise, especially Elena, that they wouldn't be doing something stupid like handing themselves over to an Original in exchange for her family to live. Alexandra had glared at the brunette at that part.
Jenna had been mad at first, but between her and Liz they managed to talk Elena out of any plan that involved sacrificing herself before they struck a deal with Klaus. Alexandra explained also that Klaus was not an unreasonable monster, but that he didn't trust easily, so they needed to follow the rules. Sheila and Bonnie seemed okay with the plan, it was better than being killed by Klaus. Alexandra loved the fact that with enough adult supervision she could carry out her plan.
As expected, Elijah arrived several days later. Alexandra spotted him in the townsquare and approached him after she texted Damon that she would be speaking with an Original Vampire.
"Elijah," she greeted as she sat next to him on the bench that he was sitting, she handed him a cup of coffee, "it's just black, Uncle Stef says it takes off the edge."
"Miss Salvatore, thank you," Elijah said as he lifted the lid of his cup of coffee and smelled it.
"I didn't poison it, I wouldn't mess with anyone's coffee," she assured him as she took a sip of her latte.
"Of course, forgive me, Miss Salvatore, one can never be too sure," he told her before he took a sip, "how can I help you, Miss Salvatore?"
"Oh no, I'll be the one doing the helping, I know that you probably wish to speak with Elena and offer her a deal or something," she said, Elijah raised an eyebrow at her and she smiled serenely at him.
"It is my intention, yes, did miss Gilbert send you?" he asked, Alexandra snorted into her coffee.
"Sorry," she was quick to apologize, "no, she didn't, her guardian did, we're minors remember? And since uncle Damon thinks that I'm too adorable to be killed I got elected as messenger, but Jenna asked nicely, but she's not the main reason why I'm here."
"I am intrigued, Miss Salvatore," Elijah said, Alexandra smiled at him.
"Well, before I go and hurt any feelings that might filter into our conversation I want you to know that I know things, sort of like a curse, the ball's still out on that one, I just do, it's been creepy and weird but helpful, uncle Damon's been calling it the Salvatore Curse, he thinks its funny," she explained.
"Were you cursed in any way?" Elijah asked.
"Not that we could find traces of, it went downhill when Uncle Damon killed my dad, but we've since make up for that one, I staked him and he bought me a car and then he apologized," Alexandra explained, "uncle Stef theorizes that the influx of emotions caused by Dad's death unlocked the curse or something, but we don't know it and I don't know it."
"But you know other things," Elijah said, she nodded.
"I know that you are Niklaus' brother and I know that he told you that he dropped the rest of your siblings at sea, which he didn't, he cares about you lot in a weird and wicked way," she said with a smile.
Elijah seemed to consider her words, "this changes everything, Miss Salvatore."
"Not really, we were actually operating over the fact that Niklaus can't be killed under any reason," she said, Elijah looked at her confused.
"Why?"
"The Sirelines, someone manages to kill an original vampire and the entire line of vampires sired to them goes poof, it's like a wicked family tree which is why you guys need to be careful and protected and if you find the grimoire where the immortality spell that was used to create you is contained you burn that page and hope that nobody ever finds it because someone could reverse engineer the spell and unlink the sirelines and then all of your enemies could really band together and kill you," she said, her voice gaining pace as she spoke.
Elijah placed a hand on her shoulder, "Miss Salvatore," Elijah said warily, the girl repressed a shudder and looked at him.
"I'm sorry, that was weird," she said, Elijah squeezed her shoulder carefully.
"This has been a very informative task, Miss Salvatore, name your price?"
"My what now? No, I don't want anything from you, maybe friendship but that comes with time right? I just wanted to ask for a favor," she said.
Elijah looked at the girl sitting next to him, she was pretty, the kind of beauty that Klaus and Kol seemed to favor, something wild and mischievous in her eyes, she would make a fine vampire if her uncles decided to turn her.
"Of course," he said, and he had to, the girl had given valuable information about his family.
"Don't approach Elena, she doesn't have to feel more important about this than she is," she said with a conspiratorial smirk.
Elijah couldn't help but smile at her, "I promise that I won't approach Miss Gilbert."
"Cool, by the way, Niklaus will come here, so you should stay around, near enough to be in the loop but far enough that he doesn't notice," she said winking at him as she stood from the bench, "I have to go before uncle Damon has an aneurism, I wouldn't want him to die from it, it would be unfortunate."
"Of course, Miss Salvatore, it was a pleasure to talk to you," Elijah said and was regaled with a grin.
"You're welcome and please, feel free to call me Alexandra or Alex, like my friends do, bye Elijah," she said and walked away to her car.
Elijah remained on the bench for a couple of moments until he saw her leave in a sleek black mustang, he took another sip of his coffee when he noticed something scribbled on the cup, it was a phone number and a small A shaped like a heart underneath.
The days continued to pass in tranquility, the gang went to school, football practice, cheerleading practice, magic practice or just home. Alexandra and Caroline submerged themselves in their activities while Elena's relationship with Stefan continued to flourish and Bonnie discovered more of her powers. On one of the Saturdays, Alexandra got into Stefan's room and lounged in his bed until he woke up and declared that they needed an uncle Stef and Alexandra day because he was spending most of his days with Elena.
"I get testy when I'm not your primary concern, uncle Stef," she announced, a grin on her face.
Stefan had smiled but agreed, he texted Elena to inform her of his plans and then told Damon that he and Alexandra would be heading out of town for the day, Damon who had been with Mason and Alaric waved them to go.
"What do you want to do?" Stefan asked as he drove out of Mystic Falls.
"Surprise me, Uncle Stef," she grinned.
They ended up taking a hike, just the two of them, Alexandra told him of all the things he had been missing and how Damon had done a complete 180, Stefan was glad about that one.
"It was about time for our family to begin to heal, and all thanks to you," Stefan said as he carried her on his back.
"I'm the coolest," she said, Stefan nodded at her.
On the way back they stopped for ice cream and sang along every song that played on the radio. They ended their day at the Grill, just the two of them, not noticing that Elijah was there with his witches.
"Thanks, Uncle Stef," she said softly as he pulled her into a one armed hug as they walked out of the grill.
"Hey, Elena is my girlfriend and I love her, but you know you'll always be my number one girl," Stefan said before pressing a kiss to her hair.
"Thanks, I was getting worried for a moment," she joked, Stefan laughed as they walked out.
Elijah smiled as he saw the pair go, it seemed that family, to the Salvatores, was as important to them as it was to him.
The next few days marked the arrival of John Gilbert, who was secured in the Salvatore dungeons before he could sweet talk his way through. He was informed by Alexandra and Jenna that he was to become part of the sacrifice as a way to keep Elena alive and human after it. He was confused until Jenna told him that she knew about the vampires and about him working with Katerina and Isobel.
Isobel also made her return, but her return was brief as she died in front of Elena shortly after. Alexandra knew that it was almost time for Niklaus to be back, she had texted Elijah and told him to disappear briefly as Niklaus made his dramatic entrance. Elijah had complied if only because of his curiosity.
Alexandra followed Alaric's movements and smirked when she saw Maddox follow her teacher back to his home. She arrived to his apartment early next morning before school carrying a small vial of vervain.
"Ric, come on it's me Alexandra, open the door, I have to get to school," Alexandra said knocking his door.
A disgruntled Alaric/Niklaus opened the door a few minutes later.
"Alexandra," he murmured, she grinned at him.
"Uncle Damon sent you this," she handed him the vial, "I swear he's paranoid, he put vervain in my pancakes, do you know how awful that is?"
"He's just trying to protect you, Alexandra," Niklaus said as he ran a hand through his hair.
"Are you okay Ric? You sound sick, have uncle Damon and Mason been torturing your liver again?" she asked, Klaus blinked at her.
"Yes, I'm not the same as I was a couple of years ago," he said and Alexandra laughed.
"Don't worry Ric, you don't look a day over sixty, which is why Jenna likes you, we'll I'll be going, see you at school, Ric!" she said before she hightailed out of the apartment.
Klaus eyed the vial and rolled his eyes before closing the door, of course the bloody town was vervained, he could practically smell it on the girl, although she seemed helpful, Alexandra, he could remember that name.
Alexandra spent most of her school day helping Caroline with the Dance, so she had little time to focus on Klaus, besides he knew her name, he would look for her when he needed to, she was patient. In all her patience she noticed Klaus growing weary, after Caroline handed her a list she bounced up to him.
"Mr. Saltzman," she greeted him, he turned to look at her, "Caroline finished the chaperone list," she handed the folder to him and he suddenly looked confused, "it needs to be taken to the principal so the staff knows which adults are allowed."
"Of course, I'll take it on my way out," he said, Alexandra smiled at him before bouncing towards Tyler and Matt.
Klaus observed her as she mingled with her friends and almost lost seeing his doppelganger again.
Elena was growing nervous with the messages from Klaus, Alexandra assured her that everything was fine and that he just wanted to intimidate her, she told her to have fun. At the dance Alexandra was a vision, in a con dress and white knee high boots and her hair in a soft wave she looked as if she had stepped straight out of a sixties magazine. She waited until Klaus dedicated a song to Elena before she dedicated one back to him, anonymously of course, she had gone with Duran Duran's Hungry Like a Wolf, and of course had texted Elijah.
She approached him and smiled at him, "Zdravei, Niklaus." she whispered to his hear before she walked out of the gym.
He found her in the football field, by following her laughter, she was sitting alone by the bleachers.
"You? Who are you?" he asked, she smiled.
"Alexandra Salvatore and you're Niklaus Mikaelson, I've been meaning to meet you, at this point it was easier to speak with the pope," she said with a grin.
"And the bulgarian?" he asked warily.
"Theatrics, the world's a stage, also I might have a bulgarian gift for you," she said and suddenly Klaus had her pinned on the bleachers, she struggled as he held her, "If you kill me now you won't get the help you need to complete your sacrifice."
"How do you know about that?" he pressed.
"I know things, it's a curse," she said, Klaus let go of her neck slowly, "Fuck, Uncle Damon is going to ground me if you left any marks, I promised that I would be safe."
"Since when did you know that I was not your teacher?" Klaus asked, she shrugged.
"Since you mentioned the Beatles, Ric hates them for some reason," she said with a small grin.
"Why did you seek me out?" he asked.
"Cause I have a proposition for you, well, several actually but I assure you that I'm as useful as I'm adorable and that you'll probably want your body back," she said as she stood.
"Where do you think you're going?" Klaus asked, holding her wrist.
"Home before Uncle Damon pops a vessel, I'll see you tomorrow at Ric's, I promise," she said, she removed a ring from her finger with a G and the Salvatore crest, she placed the ring in his hand, "that ring is one of my most prized possessions, so you'll have to hold on to it, I want it in one piece."
Klaus closed his palm on the ring and let go of her wrist, "what is so special about it anyway?"
"Uncle Stef gave it to me when I was fifteen and he promised to turn me into a vampire if I ever wanted to, according to him, that will be my daylight ring someday," she explained, "So I'll want it back tomorrow, I'll be there at eight, and please for fuck's sake stop terrorizing Elena, she gets stupid when scared."
Alexandra jumped from the bleachers leaving a confused original behind, he pocketed the ring and considered this human that he had met, he pulled out his phone and called Maddox requesting his body to be brought back.
