After an incident where Sonic loses control and goes Dark, Knuckles convinces Tails that it's time for Sonic to have inhibitors, like the ones Shadow has. Now stuck with the restrictive rings, Sonic must learn to live with their strange feeling. But he has to wonder... are they really working as intended? (Rewrite of an old story)

Sonic and Amy have been together for some time, the latter finally capturing his heart after years of chasing him. Ever since after however she had been treating him more negatively, a fight between them being the last straw for the Blue Blur. Amy is devastated on her part while Sonic questions if he really means anything to her. Will they get back together or will their love end?

"There's a monster in the woods," she tells him, torch flames warming her eyes to a blood red. "And monsters must be appeased." Or, Tails ends up in another reality and is offered as a sacrifice to the monster in the woods. But when the monster shows up with a familiar face, Tails isn't sure if this feral version of his friend is the threat or if something worse lurks in the woods.
