Sean had just left the garage where he worked. His boss, who was also Jay's uncle, said he was closing down early due to a family situation. Sean's immediate thought was "what did Jay do now?" but he immediately forgot about it as it meant he could surprise Emma by showing up much earlier.
Sean arrived and pulled up to her house before heading right in, he greeted Spike and Snake before heading down to Emma's basement bedroom.
As Sean made his way down the stairs he found Emma laying on her bed, she had fallen asleep mid homework from the looks of it, notebook and school books laying on the bed beside her. He couldn't help but stare at how cute she looked laying in her tank top which no longer covered her whole belly. He didn't want to wake or disturb her but something on the notebook paper caught his eye as he picked it up carefully.
Outside of the margins of her paper he noticed she made a list of names , he immediately realized they must be a list of ideas for baby names. Most were crossed out but not enough he couldn't make out the names. Elizabeth Nelson, crossed out. Riley Nelson, crossed out. Madison Nelson, crossed out. Cameron Nelson, it wasn't crossed out however.
He noticed her starting to stir, he quickly put the notebook back in the same place he got it. She hadn't woken up yet but he noticed she had started crying in her sleep. He was getting concerned, he nudged her on her shoulder gently trying to wake her.
"Emma?...Emma?" Sean whispered gently. Emma let out a gasp as she finally awoke.
"Sean! What are you doing here?" She asked surprised and confused but she tried to compose herself quickly.
"They shut the garage early today, some family issue, everything okay?" Sean asked.
"yeah...yeah I'm..." Emma stopped mid sentence, she raised a hand to her mouth as she ran to the basement bathroom, he could hear her retching. After a few minutes it stopped.
"Sorry about that..." she said embarrassed as she exited the bathroom. Emma sighed annoyed.
"You sure you're okay?" Sean asked, concerned.
"Yeah, just more of the joys of pregnancy. Not like I got enough going on already, I have to deal with this again." Emma said irritated.
"You want to talk about it?" Sean asked, hoping he could help her somehow.
"Just feel constantly exhausted and tired no matter how much sleep I get." Emma sighed. "I can't even get through homework without feeling tired. It's affecting my grades"
"Hey it's okay, I can help you with that." He expected that to help her mood but she seemed to get more annoyed.
"I get to a point where I'm hungry, but at the same time everything makes me sick, everything aches constantly..." she continued on.
"Hey check online, there's probably lots of pregnancy techniques to help you out. Maybe Spike knows some." Sean said, trying to be helpful.
"You're not listening!" She said angrily. Sean stared in shock, taken aback, he couldn't remember her ever being angry at him before, at least not like this.
"I'm sorry..." she said, tears forming in her eyes. She looked down ashamed.
"It's okay..." Sean said softly, choosing his next words carefully hoping to avoid setting her off again
"I'm actually really tired still, I know you were looking forward to some time together but is it okay if we reschedule?" She asked, Sean could hear the guilt in her voice
"Yeah it's cool, whatever you all need."Sean said, bending over. As he kissed her goodbye he knelt down and kissed her belly twice. "I'll call you later."
Emma exited the stall of the school bathroom making her way to the bathroom sinks. As she washed her hands she looked up into the mirror, she saw more in the reflection than just herself. She whipped around to see him standing there staring back
"They all hated me, thanks to you and your friend."
She was too terrified to move or do anything even as he reached a hand for her belly stroking it, it made her feel more uncomfortable but still she found herself unable to move. He leered at her, his eyes seemed filled with an ominous light.
"If they ever find out about this, they'll hate you and them too." He said mockingly. "They might even come after you, them and your family."
Again, everything started spinning and coming apart before she found herself jolting up out of her bed. Emma's breathing was still erratic as she tried to calm herself. Her chest felt like it was in a vice.
Paige sat in her bed with her guitar in hand strumming a few random cords while her girlfriend laid on her bed.
"So you wrote an entire mixtape worth of songs about Emma, do I get anything yet?" She asked jokingly.
"So I have been working on something." Paige said excitedly as she continued with the guitar.
(You caught my attention)
(When you came to this place)
(And I caught a feeling)
(Got lost in the tension )
(And the light on your face)
(Those eyes were the reason, mmm)
(Don't really know what I want)
(Told myself that it was wrong to think about you, ooh)
(But I got space in my head)
(And there's a spot in my bed for something new)
('Cause girls like you Got me questioning everything)
(I thought I knew Now my heart is sinking, overthinking)
(Everything that I might-)
Paige lost her place as she heard her phone go off, she rushed to answer knowing from the ringtone it was Emma.
"Hey, what's up?" Paige asked.
"Paige I just had a really bad dream...I want you to be honest how long did it take for you before the nightmares stopped?" Emma asked, upset.
"It's been two years and every few months, I still have a bad night where I wake up in tears or sweat thinking about it." Paige said uncomfortable
"So that's it? After everything this is going to be a permanent thing?" Emma said upset, tears threatening to form.
"Emma, you remember the sessions, there's no set period, it's a process. Tell me what happened." Paige said trying to be comforting
As Emma told Paige about the nightmare she glanced over at Ellie, she looked annoyed.
Paige felt guilty but couldn't brush Emma off either. She hoped Ellie would understand.
"Okay Emma, now who all knows the truth about them? Think hard about it" Paige said.
"You, my parents Manny, Sean, Toby, Ashley, JT, Ellie...maybe Liberty."
Paige felt a brief sting of guilt remembering how it was her fault Liberty knew. "And how many of them turned against you because of it?" She asked, causing Emma to process the nightmare."
"None." She realized slowly.
They continued talking and eventually they ended the call. Paige looked back over to Ellie, she still looked annoyed with what happened.
"Hey, I'm sorry I couldn't just not answer. Emma really needed someone to talk to" Paige stated.
"I know, it's one of my favourite things about you." Ellie said, somewhat annoyed but understanding.
"You're not mad?" Paige asked, mixed about the whole situation.
Ellie took a moment to process her words.
"You remember when you first went with me to the counsellor? Finding out that popular cheerleader Paige wasn't as shallow as I thought and then hearing about everything you did for her...I like this side of you." Ellie said softly, remembering the past.
Paige blushed as Ellie moved closer to her locking lips with her.
