About an hour later, Angela was being wheeled into the room where her family was gathered. "She'll be asleep for a while, but the surgery went well. The doctor will be in to update you in a bit," her nurse Linda stated.

"So what caused the bleeding? And is our baby okay?" Tony queried.

"As I said, the doctor will be in to update you shortly. Visiting hours are almost over. Mr. Micelli. I can bring a cot in for you so that you can have someplace to sleep if you would like."

"That would be great, Linda."

"Okay, Dad, we'll get going then. Call us if you need anything, otherwise I'll see you after classes tomorrow. Good night, Mona. Good night, Dad."

"Yeah, good night Grandma. Good night, Dad. I'll be up after school tomorrow."

"Sounds great kids! Good night! Love you all!"

"We love you too, Dad" they all said simultaneously.

Shortly afterwards, there was a knock on the door. "Hello, Mr. Micelli. I'm Dr. Shaw. I'm the obstetrician that was in on your fiancé's surgery with Dr. Andreas."

"Hello, Doc. So what was the cause of the bleeding? And is our baby okay?"

"Yes, Mr. Micelli, your babies are fine. The bleeding was caused by her spleen, which was successfully removed."

"Wait, did you say babies?"

"Yes, Mrs. Bower is pregnant with twins. Didn't you know?"

"No, we'd only just found out she was even pregnant! She's only seven weeks along."

"Actually, she's 14 weeks along. Her due date is May 1st."

"What? How can that be? The doctor in Iowa told her mid-June."

"You mean in Butthead, Iowa, Tone."

"Hey, Mona, life's a little slower there, but they still get the job done."

"Well, that doctor sure is a butthead!"

"I'm sorry Mr. Micelli, but she really is that far along. Would you like to know what you are having?"

"No, not until I talk to Angela first and see if she wants to know."

"Okay, then. I'll be in to check on her before I head out for the night. I have a delivery on their way in."

"Thanks, doc."

"Whoa, Tone, two babies! What are you thinking?"

"I'm not sure, Mone. I'll have to tell Angela gently about the twins and that she's much farther along than we thought. How do you think she'll react?"

"I don't know, but I know that you'll both do well with them. As much as I like to tease you both, you're amazing parents and I'm so happy for you both."

"Thanks, Mone!"

The next day, something awoke Tony. Angela was still asleep in her bed, as was Mona in hers. It wasn't yet six o'clock, but there was some commotion going on in the hallway. He got up to fully close the door so Mona and Angela wouldn't be alarmed. "You're not supposed to be up here. You're an ER nurse, not an OB/GYN one." "But I'm all done with my shift. I came up to check on an 'old friend'. Please let me just see her."

Tony knew that voice, but it couldn't be, could it? "Kathleen, you need to leave now, or I'm calling your supervisor. After all you were pulled off of her case in the ER last night per her daughter's request." She was to be Angela's nurse? Sam didn't say anything to him.

"Tony, what are you doing by the door?" asked Mona.

"Oh hey, Mona. I was just closing it so the noise in the hallway didn't bother you or Angela."

"Please I want to see her!" Kathleen pleaded on the other side of the door.

"Is Angela still asleep?"

"Looks like she's starting to stir. Hey sweetheart, how are you feeling?" he asked as he crossed the room.

Kathleen heard his voice. So it was true. They were together and apparently something had happened for them to be on this floor. Could they be expecting a baby? She had to see for herself. While the other nurse was called off to a patient emergency, Kathleen cracked open the door to see Tony holding Angela's hand as she lay in the bed. No one noticed as she closed the door and left the room, sad but satisfied that he had found happiness.

Groggily Angela replied, "a little sore and a lot tired. Did you stay all night?"

"Of course, mi amore."

"Yep, I could hear his snoring all night long!"

"Mother, you did get as a double room. How are you doing?"

"Glad that my baby is okay. Now I can go to sleep."

Angela drifted in and out of sleep for a few hours, finally waking up around 9:30am. "You're still here, Tony? I thought you would've gone home."

"Nope, I needed to make sure that the three of you were all okay."

"Three? Oh right, Mother. Silly me."

"Ah, yes, you, Mona, and the baby."

"Isn't that what you meant? Tony?"

"Well, actually there's some new developments that have come up."

"With what? Tony, is our baby okay? You're really worrying me!"

"Everything's fine, sweetheart. It's just that you aren't seven weeks along. You're fourteen weeks along."

"So my due date is May..."

"May 1st to be exact. And there's something else too."

"What is it?"

"We're having twins!"

"Twins? Really?"

"Yep! Dr. Shaw confirmed it last night."

"Oh wow! So I'm in my 2nd trimester with twins?"

"Yes you are, sweetheart! Dr. Shaw said that we can find out we are having if you'd like."

"I'm still wrapping my head around the change of due date and us having twins."

"You can take your time to decide. We don't need to say anything to her yet."

"Thanks, honey. I love you, Tony."

"I love you too, mi amore."

The kids came to visit after Jonathan was done with school, and Tony and Angela shared the updated pregnancy news with them.

"That's awesome news!" Jonathan exclaimed.

"Wonderful to hear!" Hank stated.

"Oh my goodness, that is super exciting!" Sam replied.

Later that afternoon, Dr. Shaw came in during her rounds. "Hello again, Mrs. Bower, Mr. Micelli."

"Hello, doctor. So Tony informed me that we are having twins, and that I am farther along in my pregnancy than I'd expected."

"Yes, that's correct. With your surgery and your delicate condition, we'll want to keep you in the hospital for a few more days, mostly for observation. When you do go home, you'll be on a five pound weight restriction for a month or so. I'll also want you to be careful not to overexert yourself. Your fiancé tells me that you enjoy doing yoga, which will be fine. But no running marathons or swimming 100 laps. Gentle exercises will be perfectly fine though."

"Thank you, doctor. I'm sure that my family will watch me like a hawk."

"You bet we will!"

"Thank you, Mother."

"Now one more thing, would you like to know what you are having?"

Nervously looking at Tony, Angela replied, "yes, we would. But we'd like to be told just the two of us. Jonathan, do you mind taking Grandma for a walk? And Samantha, do you and Hank mind running to the cafeteria to grab you kids and Tony some dinner? Mine and Mother's trays will be coming soon."

"Sure, Mom," both kids replied.

After the room was cleared of their family, Tony and Angela awaited Dr. Shaw's results. "Well, your twins will be...one boy and one girl. Congratulations!"

"One of each? Tony, we are truly blessed! Thank you, doctor."

Tony leaned over and gave her a sweet, gentle kiss. "Our family will be complete, my love."

After the doctor left the room, Tony stated, "Mi amore, I need you to understand something. Home is here, in Connecticut. Yes, we could still look at expanding The Bower Agency, but what about working with other smaller agencies for now? You, no we, need to be here."

"But what about your contract with Wells? Dr. Graham won't be happy with you leaving before the season even starts."

"My family is more important: you, Mona, Samantha, Jonathan, Hank, and our babies. If he can't understand that, then he'll have to deal with it anyway."

"Oh, but Tony, you have your dream job. I don't want you to regret leaving there."

"Yes, it is a dream job. But that's just one small piece of my life. You see, the rest of my dreams coming true are right here in this town of Fairfield, Connecticut, You my love, are a huge part of that. Our daughter and I will be forever grateful for accepting me as your housekeeper all those years ago. Now we together have our daughter, son, son-in-law, and another son and daughter, as well as a grandchild to come next year, Don't get me wrong, Branford would be a lovely place to raise our babies, but it just isn't our home."

"Well, we will need to go back out to pack things up. And as I already told you, Jack and Carol are interested in looking to move closer to her parents in Wisconsin. Maybe we can look there for the Midwest office and Jack could run it, as I would still like to expand the agency."

"Let's table this conversation for now. The kids and Mona will be back soon. Let's enjoy dinner with our family." After dinner, the kids headed home.
