Wow. Okay. Pretty big reaction to the last chapter…it's understandable and I completely loved it. I'm not going to lie; Adele's death shocked even me and I will attempt that I…had written that chapter probably a month before I actually released it. I almost erased it. I wasn't sure about it at first, I had to sit and think about the chapter and how it would affect the story before I could put it out there. I'm sure you all understand and it took me a while to write out this chapter.

Anyways…

Shout outs to NicoleR85, mrs Tall Blonde and Dead, emeralds01, RebelWithACauseToBeFree, Earwen85, ddluzelle, Guest: Awesomeness, Klandgraf2007, Guest, Guest: Awesomeness (Again lol), Revenger's Sister for their amazing reviews. I really loved the reaction guys; it made me smile and laugh and gave me all those warm feelings inside. Lolz. So thank you and keep it up! (:

Chapter 10: The New Deal

Part One

She checks the time on her phone once again before pushing herself up from the edge of Damon's bed. She couldn't bring herself to sit still for longer than 5 minutes, not with her thoughts racing. It was almost twelve and Damon hasn't come home or even called. The plan should have already been put into motion, it should be done.

She was becoming more and more anxious by the second.

What if something went wrong? What if someone got hurt or worse killed? What if Damon was hurt? Or Bonnie? Or even Caroline who is supposed to know nothing of their plan? The whole plan was sketchy anyways, there was a very high possibility someone got hurt and her best bet would be Damon considering he was the one falling through with it.

Oh god, if Damon's hurt or dead how was she going to explain it to Adele? She'd be devastated.

Why hasn't he at least called her?

Elena has never had a panic attack, her sister was the one who was subjected to them as a kid and even now but she's never had one though if someone doesn't call her soon, she fears that may change very quickly. It was moments like these which she understands why having to sit out of a plan bugs her sister so much.

The sound of a door opening from down stairs stops her pacing and she rushes towards the bedroom door. "Damon?" She calls out loud enough that even if it wasn't him the person could still hear her. She moves quickly over to the stairs descending them and as she nears the bottom she can hear a hushed voice that sounds like Bonnie.

"Just let me go up and talk to her first, Damon please." If she's talking to Damon, that means he's alright and considering she's talking to Damon that means she'salright. Elena breathes a silent sigh of relief as she reaches the bottom of the stairs, whipping around the corner quickly and freezing in place.

His back is too her but that doesn't stop her from seeing blonde hair hanging from over his arm and the posture that tells her he's cradling someone in his arms, very close to his chest.

"Elena…" Bonnie whispers and Elena meets her eyes, there bloodshot and puffy and Elena swallows her eyes moving back to Damon. "Let's go back upstairs…" Bonnie is saying but Elena moves past her dodging her arms as she tries to grab for her. She grabs his arm forcing him to turn around as he seemed to out of it to fight her off and the sight she's met with causes her to hold her breath as she stumbles back tripping over her own foot only catching herself when she lands on one knee her hands reaching up to clench at her stomach.

Despite not actually being able to see if she's breathing, Elena knows. Her sister is dead and she feels like she's going to be sick.

*VD*

Her eyes flutter closed with the delicate way his fingers ran along her spine, the way his lips brushed across her shoulder. Everything about him surrounds her, the feel of him warm and solid above her and his smell, like the wind, leather and axe and she loves it because it's familiar and it makes her feel wanted. He always made her feel wanted.

He says her name, whispering it into her ear and she shudders at the way it sounds and she can't stop his name from passing her lips in a similar breathy whisper.

"Michael."

Her cell phone rings, startling her awake. She slaps a hand onto her bedside table her fingers moving around until she finds the obnoxiously loud device.

It's Caroline and she resist the urge to toss the phone into the trash and go back to sleep. Instead she answers it with a "What?"

"Are you still sleeping? What the hell Adele! It's the first day of senior year and you're sleeping when you should be getting ready!" Her blonde bombshell of a best friend is screeching.

"Caroline clam down please, you're already giving me a headache." She sits up pushing her own blonde hair from her eyes, her fingers tangling into the rats nest that it's managed to become and when she pulls her hands back she realizes just how in need of a shower she is. Working on her mustang all weekend had left her hands stained in motor oil and she's sure her hands isn't the only place left with a smudge of the black stuff. It would take a good scrubbing to remove it all.

"I'm not going to calm down. You promised me that you'd meet me at the school 20 minutes early to help me go over the new cheerleading routine." She's saying as she's slipping from the bed, making her way across the room. "Plus…it'll help you avoid he who shall not be named."

Adele's eyes fall to her mirror and the multiple pictures stuffed into the sides. She presses her lips together at a practically hard one to look at. Michael her recent ex-boyfriend with the tussled blonde hair and the intense black eyes and his 6'1 frame are folded around her, draping his arms around her neck and resting his chin against the top of her head as he gives the camera a look like he's going to attack it.

"Adele…" Caroline is calling for her but still it takes 3 more tries before she's responding with a sigh. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have brought him up at all."

"Its fine Caroline, I promised we'd still be friends. It was my idea to break up so…I have to deal with it." She says her voice strong as she slips away from the mirror and into the bathroom. "I'll meet you at the school in 30." Before her overly perky friend could say anything else she hangs up the phone throwing it onto the counter as she flips on the hot water in the shower.

After scrubbing the oil off and finally feeling clean she hopped out of the shower and made quick work with getting dressed. She had to meet Caroline in 15 minutes and if she wasn't there Caroline was surely going to kill her.

Done with her hair, she grabs her backpack and her phone and makes her way out into the hallway and down the stairs where she's met with the sight of her sister and her sister's boyfriend standing in front of the door.

Stefan Salvatore was a new student last year and he had quickly filled the void Elena had been feeling after having dumped Matt Donavon, Elena was happy and Adele was happy for her. It also helped that Stefan was a good guy and easy to get along with. Adele's eyes find the window or better yet, what's just beyond the window, a baby blue 1969 Chevy Camaro which could only mean one thing.

Stefan is a sweetheart and a gentleman, his brother on the other hand was a completely different story and Adele couldn't be anymore annoyed by how this day is already shaping out to be.

*VD*

Damon lays her sister down on the bed with the upmost care as if she's sleeping and he's afraid he may wake her. Elena can hardly breathe as Bonnie guides her gently into the massive conjoined bathroom in the room, away from the sight of her sister.

Bonnie uses a small hand towel to wipe at her cheeks, at the silent tears that have begun to cascade down them. "Elena…" She swallows hard, fighting off her own tears. "I'm so sorry."

"How…how did this happen? I don't understand." The brunette cries collapsing against the counter, her legs threatening to give out. "She can't be dead. Bonnie, she can't be dead." She breaks down because the very idea that her sister is dead is both heartbreaking and terrifying.

She doesn't understand how this could have happened. Adele wasn't supposed to be a part of this. Damon wanted her safe; he wanted to protect her at all cost so why…how had it come to this? Did Adele sacrifice herself for something? That seemed the most likely answer because Elena always figured if Adele was going to die it would be trying to protect someone else.

But even then, Adele's death had been impossible to imagine.

Elena could never quite grasp the concept that Adele wasn't invincible. Ever since they were little Adele had always been the stronger one out of the two of them. She handled everything better, pressure, emotions and pain, definitely pain.

And she never stopped to think that one day Adele wouldn't be there. She'd thought about losing everyone, Jeremy, Stefan, Bonnie, Caroline, Damon, Matt, Tyler but never once had she thought about losing Adele and it wasn't because she didn't care like people liked to claim. Despite their difference and all the times they've fought, Adele was her sister and she'd always be. Adele was the one person in her life she just knew would always be there. She didn't have to worry because Adele would never leave her. Adele protected her and she loved her and damn it she's her sister.

And now she's gone.

Through the emotion that bubbies inside her chest and the gnawing pain and loss tearing at her insides she still can't quite grasp the idea that Adele is really gone. There's just no way. She wouldn't leave her, not like this. Not when she knows just how much she needs her.

*VD*

"Adele Gilbert. Don't you look ravishing today?" The raven haired male calls out to her from leaning against the passenger door of his Camaro as she's moving towards her own vintage muscle car, her 1969 Mustang.

"Damon Salvatore." She dwells back; unlocking the door and pulling it open with a huff. "Don't you look like a pompous ass today?" She can hear him chuckling and she can imagine the smirk playing at his lips as he watches her. She can feel his eyes on her, intense and almost over-whelming. She knows she should get in the car and drive off without look back at him but she stands there staring out over the top of the mustang trying to ignore the heat of his stare. "What are you even doing here?" She finally snaps spinning around to look at him which is of course her first mistake.

The corner of his lips twitches higher as he crosses his arms across his chest, pulling the black t-shirt he's wearing tight around his biceps. The shirt matches his dark jeans and she's a little surprised he's not wearing his leather jacket. His frosty blue eyes bore into her and the slight wind blows his raven colored hair across his forehead and her brows furrow slightly when she gets the feeling that something isn't right about this.

Something just feels off.

"Stefan's Motorcycle wasn't starting this morning so I offered him a ride and since he promised a ride to his girlfriend, here we are." He explains. "But come on now Kitten, you know you're happy to see me. I know you missed me while in Florida."

"In your dreams Salvatore," She scowls finally climbing into the car. "And don't call me that." She slams the door ignoring his laugh as she turns the engine over, listening to it roar to life and as she's driving away she makes sure to flick him off which just seems to amuse him that much more.

When she arrives at the school Caroline is waiting for her, watching with an impatient stance as she gathers her backpack, phone and keys before marching up to meet her.

"You look positively irked." Her best friend observes and Adele rolls her bright eyes. "What happened?"

"Damon freaking Salvatore happened." Caroline's eyebrows rise, a slow grin forming on her lips as Adele shoves her phone into her back pocket. "He's so annoying; every time I see him my skin crawls."

"Is that why I saw you dancing with him at the end of the year party last year at the grill?" Adele scoffs at her, pushing past her to move towards the school and Caroline falls into step beside her.

"I was in a vulnerable place and I was drinking, you can't blame me for taking comfort in him." She defends and it's Caroline's turn to scoff.

"There were plenty of hot guys there and yet you picked the one guy you claim to hate to take comfort in." Caroline tilts her head as they enter the halls of the school. "Explain to me how that works exactly?"

"I was drunk…" Adele sighs tilting her eyes to the ground. "And he smelt good." She mummers.

"I'm sorry I didn't catch that. What did you say?" Caroline is mocking her, she knows because she knows that she heard her and she's been trying to get Adele to attempt that there was some sort of attraction between the two.

"I said he smelt good." Adele snaps causing Caroline to laugh loudly. "It's not like I'm attempting anything special. A lot of guys smell good."

"True." Caroline nods. "But none of those guys are Damon Salvatore. He's 22, completely sexy and is destined to take over his father's company meaning he's going to be filthy stinking rich."

"Actually his father is planning on naming Stefan owner of his company when he retires. Stefan will basically take over." Adele informs her and Caroline stops walking to stare at her.

"Are you serious? How do you know that? And why? Damon's the oldest, I figured he's get the company."

"Damon told me at the party and Elena confirmed it. His father doesn't think he's responsible enough to handle the company, doesn't think he's responsible enough to handle anything." Adele explains.

"I thought you we're drunk at that party," Adele looks over to her friend who smirks in satisfaction. "If you were drunk you wouldn't have been able to have that kind of conversion with him let alone remember it."

When she can't find anything to say, she tells her to shut up and turns to keep walking only to stop, freezing in place as her blue eyes meet deep black eyes from across the hall. Caroline notices and quickly grips ahold of her best friend's shoulders moving her down a hall to their right. "Come on now. None of that."

"I don't know Care. Maybe I made a mistake." She says, sounding even more miserable then when she arrived. Caroline pushes her into an empty class room.

"You did not make a mistake. Adele Gilbert doesn't make mistakes remember?" Caroline folds her arms across her chest sending her one of her most famous sassy looks.

"Adele Gilbert does make mistakes, quite frequently actually." Caroline sighs dropping her arms to her sides.

"Well this isn't one of them, you we're with Michael for 2 years…"

"Three. Three years." She corrects her but the tall blonde only waves her off.

"It was about time you let him go and enjoyed yourself. I mean come on; you of all people can't be tied down your whole life. I'd pay you 100 bucks if there was anyone out there you'd actually consider marrying. It's about time you played the field and I know exactly who you should start with." Caroline rants and Adele tilts her head narrowing her eyes.

"If you say Damon Salvatore I might just slap you." She warns and Caroline throws up her hands.

"Why not? He's sexy as hell and he wants you and I mean like seriously wants you! The looks he gives you are enough to make anyone uncomfortable. You had no problem hooking up with someone in Florida over the summer. What was his name? Toby?"

"Tony, and I wasn't hooking up with him…" She defends before sighing when Caroline sends her a "don't give me that" look. "I hooked up with him a few times but in my defense he was the only guy I was really interested in down there. I hung out with him all summer."

"Either way. Now I say after school when we all meet up at The Grill, you leave us and go talk to Damon." Caroline offers to which Adele shakes her head.

"No. Damon annoys me to no end."

"That's because you to are way too much alike. You're obviously going to butt heads but you don't have to like him to have sex with him." Caroline narrows her own blue eyes, rethinking her choice in words. "You don't have to like his personality to have sex with him. Sex is all about attraction and you can't tell me you're not attracted to him. I know you are."

"Please tell me you're not trying to hook her up with Damon." Adele and Caroline jump at the new voice turning around to face Alaric Saltzman, one of the school's history teachers. "That is not a good idea. That guy is a dick." He tells them moving in to set down his stuff on the desk and Adele just now realizes that there in his classroom.

"Says the guy who happens to be best friends with him." Adele grins at the teacher. He was by far her favorite teacher and that was probably because since she's met Stefan and Damon, she's got to know him a lot more on a personal level. Not to mention the thing he has going on with her aunt.

"That doesn't mean I don't think he's a complete dick. I know him well enough to know." Adele laughs as she pushes off of the desk she was leaning against. Out of the corner of her eye she sees something near the windows, a flash of white and blonde. She turns but there's nothing there but once again she's left with the feeling that something isn't right.

*VD*

When Elena and Bonnie move back into the room Damon is staring out the windows. His hands and his clothes are stained in blood, her blood. Through the window she can see his flection, his unfocused blue eyes as he stares blankly. He seems to have shut down and Elena wants to help him but she doesn't know how. How was she supposed to help him when she couldn't even help herself?

The bedroom door pushes open drawing Elena and Bonnie's attention that way. Jeremy is standing there, his wide brown eyes on the bed, on Adele. "Adele…" He whispers her name, his voice utterly broken. "No…" He shakes his head, brunette hair sweeping into his face. "Oh please…please no." He comes forward ready to stand at her side but Elena cuts off his path pulling the taller male tightly into her arms. He doesn't need to go any closer. He's already too close.

Alaric isn't far behind him, showing up in the room only seconds after his eyes registering what's happening, what's happened though he doesn't say a word. His eyes stray from the bed, towards Damon who hasn't even seemed to realize they've showed up. He doesn't really seem like he's noticed anything since arriving home.

Jeremy stares over his sister's shoulder, his fingers clenching to the back of her shirt though he doesn't realize it. Every part of his body feels numb. How could this happen? Why did this happen to them? Why was it always them? Why couldn't someone else lose somebody for a change? At this rate he wasn't going to have any family left. If Adele's dead –which he doesn't want to believe is true, than technically all he has left is Elena.

Which is why the question of why is it always them who had to lose somebody runs through his mind like a never ending cycle?

When Bonnie had called, he'd thought about not answering it. There break-up wasn't exactly clean and he was having a hard time coming to grips with the fact that it was his fault he screwed it up but at the last possible ring he'd picked it up and now part of him wishes he hadn't. He would have been better off believing she skipped town again, without any warning leaving everything and everyone behind. It would have hurt but then at least there would be some hope –even if false, that he'd have of seeing her again one day.

But then again maybe it wouldn't have been so believable. Seriously what would be the chance of Adele leaving behind Damon and her car and considering the fragile state of Damon's psyche at the moment, it was unlikely he would have actually believed them. If she'd have skipped town there was no doubt in his mind that Damon would track her down.

And it wouldn't have been true. He would have found out anyways. Adele is dead. The thought draws a small cry from his lips. How was he supposed to handle this? He can't help but look back on the way he handled his parent's death and he was just starting to really get back on the right track here. Growing up Adele was everything he looked up to even if she was a year older and happened to be a girl. He used to follow her around and do anything she asked of him. For all intents and purposes she was an evil genius and he was her minion.

She wasn't your typical teenage sister. When she used to have Caroline over or even Michael and he wanted to hang out with them she'd let him. She taught him how to draw, she played video games with him, her and Michael had helped him ask out his first crush and when he got grounded for breaking their mom's favorite lamp that same night, Adele had told her that it was her and was the one grounded for the weekend and when he was sick she'd stay in his room the whole time with him.

Elena was his typical older sister that was her role in their lives growing up. Adele…Adele was his best friend.

*VD*

She glances over towards the bar for the fourth time since she sat down. Elena who is sitting across from her at their four person table in the middle if The Grill which was slowly beginning to fill with more and more people takes notice to her sisters lack of attention to the story she's telling about one of her classes and gazes over as well only she doesn't understand what it is she's looking for or at. "Adele…" Her sister doesn't even bother to look away from the bar. "Are you even listening?"

"No she's not." Caroline slaps her book bag on the table in front of Adele causing the blonde to jump, she'd just come from Cheerleading and had right away noticed the faraway look in her best friend's eyes as she gazed across the restaurant at the back of Damon Salvatore's head. "She's too busy thinking about what I was saying earlier."

"No." Adele snaps, glaring at her best friend. "I'm not."

"Is that why you've been staring at the back of his head for almost 10 minutes now?" She points out and Adele presses her lips into a thin line clearly annoyed.

"Wait…What is going on here?" Elena demands as she's looking between the two blondes at their table.

"Adele has been a little distressed over her break up with Michael since she got back." Caroline begins ignoring the way Adele's blue eyes narrow, she doesn't have nearly enough time to avoid the kick she receives under the table and yelps at sting her best friend's heel causes to her shin. "Hey, it's not like it's some huge secret. Everyone obviously knows that this has to be hard on you. You guys we're together for a long time for a high school couple. I'm serious, like you could hold a record or something that we don't even know about and –ow! Stop kicking me!" Caroline scowls.

"Shut up." Adele snaps.

"Anyways," Caroline glares. "I happened to mention to her earlier that it might be a good idea for her to start you know playing the field. Get a sense on what it's like being single."

"That's actually a pretty good idea." Elena says softly turning warm brown eyes to her twin, who stares blankly back at her before she responds with,

"She wants me to hook up with Damon Salvatore."

"What?" Elena snaps turning on Caroline. "Are you crazy? That is a horrible idea!"

"Is it?" Caroline demands. "I mean I'm not telling her to too marry the guy, I'm telling her to sleep with him because let's face the cold hard truth here people, Damon is hot as hell and he wants her, very much."

"Yeah but Caroline," Its Bonnie who is speak up next, she'd been so quiet they had almost forgotten she was even there. "He's a…"

"I know," Caroline cuts her off but Adele hardly hears what she rants on about next as her eyes have found him once again. He's nursing a glass of bourbon at the bar and next to him is that new news reporter Andie Starr laughing at almost everything he says as she leans on the bar, pushing out the tiny bit of cleavage that she has.

And when she pushes herself against his side practically falling into his lap, Adele begins her way towards them with just the distant sound of Elena calling her name and the thought that she hadn't even realized she'd gotten up.

She slides up onto the barstool on his other side and he glances at her just briefly before turning back towards Andie until he seems to realize exactly who she is and does a complete double take, blue eyes widened in surprise as he takes her in.

"So…" She sends him a side-long glance. "Are you going to buy me a drink?"

His grin is wide and dazzling and she finds it hard not to grin back as his eyes dance with some sort of excitement, like he'd just found his new favorite toy. He taps on the bar gaining the bar tenders attention, his eyes never leaving her and she can feel the full force of Andie's glare.

When the glass of amber liquid is placed in front of him and he slides it slowly over to her she quickly takes a sip before replacing it on the bar and finally turning to meet his gaze head on. "How long have you been waiting for me to ask you to buy me a drink?" She glances down, towards his lips when she thought she saw a something poking at his bottom lip, something sharp, kind of like a fang. She picks up her drink shaking herself out of it. She'd been seeing things all day, strange things.

"A long time." He answers before narrowing his frosty eyes, his grin turning crooked and roguish. "Actually Kitten…" He practically purrs and she tries hard not to let it affect her as she starts to realize with a surprising amount of shock that he really is incredibly good looking. "I've been waiting for you to ask me for a lot more than a drink."

*VD*

A loud sound breaks across the silence in the room, a ringing phone and Elena can feel her knees wanting to buckle under the sheer grief that floods her veins when she realizes that it's Adele's phone brightly lit and vibrating in time with the ringtone on the dresser. Nobody moves to answer it; they just stare in exception to Damon who hasn't looked away from the window since he'd wondered over there after putting her down.

It stops ringing only to start up again and it's Bonnie who springs forward to swipe the phone off the dresser. "It's Caroline." She whispers looking up with wide hazel eyes. "What do I tell her?"

"The truth." Alaric says and it's the first time he's actually spoken since arriving. "What else can you tell her? You can't lie because she's not coming back." His bitter tone surprises Bonnie. She'd never heard Alaric sound anything but gentle not even after Jenna died but then again Bonnie saw the way Alaric looked at Adele, how he acted around her and treated her, like Adele was the daughter he never had. She nods slipping from the room quietly to take the call.

"What…What do we do now?" The question is directed at Jeremy and Alaric, mostly Jeremy. This was just another devastating loss on their part and part of Elena is starting to wish they would have just given up on her in the sacrifice. All of this was just beginning to be too much for her to handle.

"We bury her." Alaric answers. "And we…we need to come up with a story, something to explain this. We can't just say she left town." Elena is nodding in agreement as he says something about an accident and stairs as Bonnie slips back into the room, her expression grim. Jeremy can feel his emotions slipping away from him the more he was forced to listen to them try and make up a cover story.

"Stop!" He snaps causing Elena to jump as he moves away from her, towards the bed, towards Adele. "Can you just stop?" He takes a deep breath his brown eyes glassy with unshed tears. "Before we start making up cover stories and plans of a shit funeral can we just let the fact that she's dead sink in for a moment?" Elena looks over at him, her lips parted in surprise at his outburst and her own eyes filling with more tears. "She's dead! She's never coming back so why don't you give some of us time to…"His voice trails off as his brown eyes drift down to her unnaturally pale face, her lips are still stained in crimson. "She's dead." He breaths as his eyes move back up to Elena and Alaric his hand fisted into the fabric of his t-shirt. "She's actually dead."

"Jeremy…" Elena whispers moving towards him but he pushes past her towards the door.

"I can't." He gives off a tiny broken sob that makes Bonnie's chest tighten because he's never looked so small and vulnerable before. "I can't do this. I can't do this again, I have to…I can't breathe." He flees the room with Elena hot on his heels, calling out his name in a choked voice.

Bonnie glances towards Alaric who is watching after them with a stone-hard expression before her eyes catch sight of Damon. He's finally turned away from the window, his despair filled eyes resting on the bed and Bonnie takes this as her cue to leave the room urging Alaric along with her.

When the door clicks in to place behind them, Damon blinks. His lips press into a thin line as he turns away back to the window. He couldn't look at her, he felt like he couldn't breathe.

He can't…stand the tightening in his chest, the crushing weight that's settled itself there. Was this what it felt like to have your heart broken? And he'd thought he knew…he thought he understood the feeling when he'd opened the tomb to find Katherine wasn't there, that she'd never been in there to start with.

But this…was so much worse. At least back then he was able to drink himself into oblivion but now…just the thought of a drink made him feel sick well sicker anyways. Nothing would ever be right again.

Damn it, she'd promised him. Promised him everything would be okay but it isn't, it isn't okay. How could it be okay? She's dead and he has no way of bringing her back. He'd given her no blood recently, maybe if this had happened a week or two earlier, everything would be okay because at least then she'd come back to him.

But now…now she's just fucking dead and he wants to be dead with her.

He picks up one of the crystal bottles half full of bourbon and looks at it. It has a small sticky note stuck to it that reads in what is obviously female hand writing, Go ahead and drink me. I dare you. ;p He can feel the twitch of his lips as he reads it, it was his vervain laced alcohol and she'd put the sticky note on it after he'd made the mistake of taking a shot of it and nearly crooking just a couple days after she'd laced it. It was her way of reminding him not to touch it until mornings rolled around and she forced it down his throat in an attempt to make him immune.

But now that she's gone, it hardly seemed important that he'd continue on with it so he drops the crystal bottle and lets it shatter on the hard wood floors the amber liquid spilling over his shoes.

He eyes the rest of the bottles and the glasses as anger surges through his veins and he welcomes it because it was a distraction from that ever pressing pain. He swipes the bottles and glasses off the table with an arm, letting them shatter to the floor in thousands of tiny glistening pieces and with a snarl that sounds more animal then human he flips the wooden table, it smashes at the force and he picks up a broken leg swinging it at the new T.V like it's a baseball bat.

*VD*

Her eyes skim over the collection of books in piles around his room, he's got so many, classics mostly. Lord of the Files, The Catcher in the Rye, Of Mice and Men, The Great Gatsby, Interview with a Vampire and even to her amusement, Gone with the Wind.

"That is actually a good book. I will not be ashamed to have it lying around." His voices carries across the room as he re-enters, clad in only a thin pair of plaid pajama bottoms he'd thrown on for the sole purpose of fetching them something besides booze to drink. She'd pigged him as a man unashamed and there for would happily walk around his own house stark naked but he claimed that with Stefan in the house and Elena's uncanny habit of popping in whenever she feels like it, that he was just being careful but he made it perfectly clear that she could stay naked if she very well pleased, he was all for it.

In the end she'd slipped back into her bra and panties. She didn't really like the idea of walking around naked in her own house let alone someone else's.

She happily accepts the glass of water he hands to her as she continues to gaze around. Something about the room, something about the whole house seems familiar to her, kind of like if she was blind folded and told to find the kitchen from where she stands, she'd be able to do it with no problems.

She moves away from Damon her curiosity getting the better of her when she takes notice to the bathroom. It's huge. It's kind of ridiculous just how huge it is. Along with a walk in shower, there's a tub that could easily fit three to four people and she decides then that by morning, she'd try it out.

She stops in front of the mirror gazing around at the different products along the marble counter and when she glances up into the mirror she jumps back with a gasp, her heart pounding inside her chest.

Her reflection is something out of a horror movie. The person looking back at her was unmistakably her but her skin is as pale as a ghost, her hair flat and darker than usual, her blue eyes dull and lifeless and her lips are stained in blood as it runs down her chin dripping onto a white lace dress she obviously isn't wearing but knows she owns. Her reflections lips part, she's saying something but Adele's never been good at reading lips.

Wake up.

Adele jerks when hands grip her hips pulling her back into a hard body and she blinks the image fading as she does leaving her normal self and Damon in its place. Damon's frosty eyes regard her through the mirror, his expression twisted in concern. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah." She swallows; clearing her throat after her answer comes out sounding like a whimper. "Yeah." She tries again. "I'm fine." She sends him a smile through the reflection and though he doesn't look like he believes her, he lets it go with one of those crooked smirks of his, the one that usually made her want to slap him but now makes her want to kiss him and she does. Turning around in his arms she leans up kissing him gently which is the complete opposite of the way she'd kissed him the last time.

She decides that her best course of action after that small episode would to be to distract herself. She didn't want to think about it. Why would she need to wake up? She's not dreaming. Everything around her feels to real to be a dream, Damon and the way he's making her feel is way too real for her to be dreaming. Right?

His hand slips, and the make shift bat slices open his palm making him hiss and drop the wooden piece as blood wells up from the cut. He stares at it blinking slowly as if trying to register what happened.

The bedroom door opens swinging out and hitting the wall, Caroline barrels through with Tyler hot on her heels and Elena running in after them telling them not to go in but as Caroline catches sight of Adele lying on the bed, she doesn't seem to hear her as her shoulders sag, her blue eyes quickly welling up with tears and she turns into the arms of Tyler when he touches her shoulder.

Elena freezes in the doorway, wide brown eyes roaming across the room. "Damon…" She whispers when her eyes land on him in the middle of the room. "What have you done?" She was just in the room; she doesn't understand how he could have destroyed everything in such little time. The books that had once been piled beside his bed now covered the floor some of them ripped in half. The TV screen is smashed, looking like it had been hit in several different places, the dresser mirror is also smashed the glass littering the floor and everything on tip of the dresser had been swiped onto the ground. One of the closet doors was hanging off its hinges looking dented as well as the lamps that had once been on the bedside tables we're now thrown across the room.

Damon glances around as well before his eyes land on the brunette and her brows furrow. His intentions are more than clear and Elena feels a surge of panic. "Damon…" She breathes moving into the room, towards him. She can see the idea circling around in his frozen depths. Without Adele he figures he has nothing, the pain was almost unbearable but he's a vampire and he has the ability to do something about it. He has the ability to rid himself of the one thing that makes it possible to feel such pain and loss.

His humanity.

The possibility to shut it off is there and it's clear in his eyes that he's thinking very hard on it. If he flipped that switch there was no doubt in her mind that she couldn't bring him back. She may know Damon and she may be able to deal with him but she doesn't completely understand him. There was only one person in the entire town who understood who Damon was as a whole and now she's dead.

Without her there would be no pulling him back into his humanity. If he ridded himself of it, it'd be gone quite possibly for good and they couldn't afford that right now. As much as she hates to attempt it, they couldn't make it without Damon. He was the only one willing to get shit done by doing things that others wouldn't dream of doing, without him they'd be doomed to fail.

"Damon…" She whispers reaching him, she lifts her hand to touch his arm but he flinches away from her. She drops her hands to her sides, balling them into fist. "Damon, don't do it." Her words come out in a soft plea. "We still need you."

But she doesn't understand. She can't understand what he's feeling, the uncontrollable emotion that courses though his veins, the pain, the anger, it's all too much and he wantsit to stop. He needs it to stop.

"Damon…" Her voice cracks. "Please…Klaus is still alive Damon." Her tone rises in panic as she begins to see the changes in him, his poker face is slipping into place and his tense posture is beginning to relax. "Nobody is safe Damon, nobody is safe and we're going to need you more than ever. Damon please don't."

He's sleeping peacefully in the bed as she wonders the room helplessly. Something was wrong, she could feel it. It felt like something was missing, some huge part of her memory, of her life was missing though she doesn't understand why. She remembers her whole life, she knows her family and she knows her friends and she knows her exes.

The words Wake up play over in her mind like a mantra making everything so much more confusing. She's awake damn it, how was she not awake?

She lets out a shaky breath ripping her hand through her hair for the 6th time. She glances at Damon's sleeping figure on the bed once more before turning towards his dresser, the mirror there reflecting herself perfectly normal back at her. She'd been glancing into the mirror for some time now, trying to catch even the slightest glimpse of her wrecked self but the attempts have proven futile.

With a grunt of annoyance she turns away ready to resume her pacing but stops, eyes focus a head of her at herself. It's the reflection of herself she'd seen, only seemingly in person. She still wore that white lace dress, the front stained in crimson and her head is tilted to the side, dull blonde hair falling over her shoulder as her dead eyes bore into her. Her blood stained lips part as she mouths the words again. Wake up.

Wake up.

Wake up.

Wake up.

Her heart is pounding like jack hammer against her rips as the figure seems to glide across the floor, coming closer and closer to her. She backs up out of instinct tripping over one of her heels that had been thrown off earlier and landing hard on her butt causing her to yelp. The figure continues to move towards her.

Wake up.

Wake up.

Wake up.

Her surroundings, Damon's room, begins blurring in and out of focus as she presses herself tightly against the dresser but she doesn't take her eyes away from the figure as it stands over her mouthing those two words and she can almost hear them, said in a mono-toned voice. Her mono-toned voice.

When the figure reaches out as if to touch her, she screams and her vision burst with light.

She's losing him, quickly and it seems that nothing she says is dragging him back. Alaric's tried reassuring him that everything would be okay but it didn't work. Even Bonnie's tried talking to him. She doesn't know what to do besides watch him retreat into himself, watch the emotion literally disappear.

Caroline's soft gasps of surprise turns all their attention away from him, towards the bed but Elena doesn't understand. She looks the same as she did 10 minutes ago.

Dead.

Though as Elena takes a closer look something seems different.

She takes a small step forward, towards the bed before she shirks her surprise when Adele's body jerks upright with a sharp intake of breath.

She LIVES!

Haha,

Is that really surprising guys? I mean really?

I'm sorry this is a short update and I'm sorry I've made this chapter into two parts but I just felt like the whole situation called for it.

What do you guys think? How the hell is she alive without blood in her system? Unless she did have blood in her system? If so, who do you guys think is the one who gave it to her?

And what about her "dreams?" and the creepy dead version of herself that stalked her?

What is Damon going to do?

What is Adele going to do?

So many questions…
