Once again I'm sorry for the delay, not something I can exactly control. I have work and studying and just everything is just a big cluster f*** of craziness.

Chapter 13: Bringing Out the Dead
He practically shoves her onto the bathroom counter knocking various items onto the floor as his lips meet hers rather roughly causing a small moan to slip from her lips vibrating against his own. She arches into his touch as his hand slips under the t-shirt she took from him last night, and his fingers leave a burning trail in their wake as he moves them over her rips up towards her breast.
His lips move from hers down her jaw and towards her neck and she hook she bare legs around his waist pulling his hips roughly into her own matching his groan with another moan. One of her hands runs across the defined planes of his bare back as the other reaches for her phone vibrating beside them on the counter. His hand catches her wrist, fingers wrapped tightly around it.
"Adele," He growls out. "Don't."
"It could be important." She protest but he ignores her pushing one of his hands into her blonde locks and forcing her lips back to his. She melts against him instantly, molding her body into his as his finger dips just under the waistband of her panties.
Her phone vibrates again and Damon groans as she snatches the device from beside them and answers it. "This better be good Elena." Damon dips his head back down, lips brushing against her neck and she bites back another moan threatening to come out.
"That would depend on what you would consider as good." This causes Damon to freeze picking up his head to gaze down at his girlfriend. "Would the sheriff finding our finger prints on the stake that killed the medical examiner register as good to you?"
Adele makes a noise that sounds like an annoyed hiss. "What?" She questions.
"Yeah." Elena sighs. "Yours partial, mine full which makes sense considering the stake came from the lake house. It was one of mom and dads."
"You've got to be kidding me?" Adele snaps. "So what's the story? I've finally lived up to my evil master mind reputation and recruited you as my minion and together we've killed the medical examiner?"
Despite how bad this situation could possibly be Damon snorts a laugh as Elena is most likely rolling her pretty brown eyes. "She doesn't think we did it."
"Let me call you back sister." Adele says. "I have to get ready. There is somewhere I have to be." When she hangs up Damon is quick to bring their lips back together.
"Get dressed?" He questions with a sly grin. "Don't you mean get undressed?"
"No." She laughs pushing against his chest to try and get him to back up. He doesn't budge. "I mean get dressed or have you forgotten the meeting I set up for us?"
Damon hums as he backs off an inch. "I did momentarily forget that you went behind my back again and awoke Elijah again."
"Something had to be done." She defends. "At the rate we we're going we we're going to end up killing each other before we could kill Klaus."
"I'm not saying you shouldn't have done it." Damon says. "I actually don't completely disagree with this; I'm just saying you should have told me. Include me Kitten; this is supposed to be a partnership."
"I didn't know if you would have tried to stop me. I couldn't help remembering what happened last time I did this." She explains watching as he ducks his head, shame flashing in his beautiful eyes for a brief second.
"That was a bad week." He mutters.
Adele cups his face in her hands bringing his eyes back up to meet hers. "Yes." She agrees. "It was."
*VD*
"Like I said she doesn't think we did it." Elena is saying. Adele took the chance to call her back as she walks through the high grass of the meadow. She had her on speaker with Damon next to her. "She's just trying to find out why somebody used one of our family's weapons to kill a council member."
"Well why don't you just ask Ric if his dirty little doctor had access to the weapon." Damon speaks up.
"You're on speaker phone, dick." Alaric snaps from Elena's end.
"I'm just saying first suspect is usually the right one. Don't get so defensive." Damon teases and Adele rolls her eyes at him.
"Brian Walters was killed days ago, alright? I didn't show Meredith this stuff until last night." Alaric defends the doctor.
"It wasn't Meredith." Elena is the first to insist and Adele finds herself agreeing with her.
"But Brian Walters was her ex-boyfriend and Ric saw them fighting that night." Damon counters set on the killer being the doctor after what she did to them.
"I agree with Elena on this one." Adele says. "I'm sorry Ric, but I refuse to believe that your luck with women is that tragic."
"Who else knows about your secret slayer stash?" Damon asks, sending his girlfriend an irritated look to which she only shrugs.
"Who doesn't?" He exclaims. "I got weapons everywhere, here, the school, my loft, your car." He tells them, checking off the places in his head.
"It's Klaus." Damon determines. "It has to be, he's screwing with us."
"What if it's Stefan?" Elena asks with a pained sigh. "He was crazy that night and you know he was trying to get under Klaus's skin, he was capable of pretty much anything." Elena explains her reasoning behind her theory causing the couple walking to glance at each other in thought.
Adele hums softly after a moment. "Makes me miss the days Stefan was a bunny snacking pacifist." She says blue eyes falling on the man they are quickly approaching. "Anyways, we've got to go."
"Hey," Alaric calls stopping her from hanging up. "Where are you guys?"
"Tea with an old friend," Damon answers before Adele hangs up pocketing the phone. "Elijah." He dwells out watching as he eyes them his sharp gaze drifting mostly over Adele. "My favorite original, you clean up nice."
"You left something in my jacket pocket." He says reaching into his jacket as he regards Adele; from his jacket he pulls a small note card written on in neat hand writing that is obviously female.
"Oh yeah," Adele laughs. "'Dear Elijah," She begins. "Let's get together and plot the destruction of your beloved brother, XOXO,'"
"Adele." He finishes eyes ranking over her once more, the obvious change in her was quite astounding and he can't bring himself to stop staring. "It looks like I've missed quite a bit. Was it accidental or intentional?"
Adele knows exactly what he's asking her and she sends him a smirk that is nothing but bitter. "Murdered so I guess you can say accidental." She answers; she doesn't like talking about her death. It diffidently wasn't the highlight of her life. "So Elijah was I right to undagger you or are we going to have a problem?"
And he smirks because in death and even upon his return he had forgotten how much he liked the young woman. She had spunk, a certain spark that was rare to find. "I'm here. Let's talk."
She nods as Damon sits back and lets her have control. This was her idea after all and he trusts her. "I'll start with an easy question then. Any idea what kind of Klaus killing weapon could possibly be magically sealed in a creepy coffin?"
*VD*
There just wrapping up when Adele's phone buzzes in her pocket. She pulls the small device out finding a text from Caroline and she vaguely remembers Elena mentioning something about Bill being in the hospital after being attacked by Tyler, she's not sure of the story behind that but she can bet it's a good one.
911 now! Hospital! Please Hurry!
"Something the matter?" Elijah questions, seeing the alarm flash across her face as she re-reads the text message.
"As a matter a fact," Adele pockets her phone again. "Yes." She turns to Damon who is watching her closely. "I need to take your car."
Damon sends her a skeptical glance as he fishes his keys from his pocket. "What am I supposed to do?" He questions.
"My keys are on the nightstand next to my phone charger." She tells him snatching his keys before he realizes she even reached out. She kisses his cheek before disappearing and no amount of looking around is going to help him spot her. She's gone.
*VD*
She slips into the hospital room with only the creak of the door alerting them to her presence. "I compelled the nurse to stay out of this room like you asked." She tells Caroline. "What's going on?"
"My wound is completely healed." Bill Forbes is saying as he stands near the window, a hand rubbing across his abdomen. "I need something to eat."
"Daddy why don't you just lay down and relax?" Caroline asks her father mentioning towards the hospital bed in the center of the room.
"I can't. I'm too wired, my pulse is racing." He says pacing away from the window. "It's the effect of my body wanting to transition." And Adele is watching them with furrowed brows, quickly becoming even more confused then she started out.
"Well maybe Doctor Fell can give you something." Caroline offers moving her way towards the door.
"She's done enough." Bill snaps, voice dripping in disgust at the mention of the doctor.
"What the hell is going on?" Adele finally asks, now completely lost on the situation going on around her.
"Tyler was trying to break his sire bond to Klaus by making himself turn. My dad was there helping him when the chains holding him broke. He attacked him and the only way Doctor Fell could save him was by giving him vampire blood. But we think the same person who killed the medical examiner also got to my dad and killed him. Elena and I found him in a storage closet." Caroline explains.
"And he came back because of the blood and now he's in transition." Adele concludes, nodding in understanding.
"Yeah." Caroline nods back. "Which means…" She's cut off by the door creaking open again. Turning towards it they watch Elena closing the door behind her.
"I called your mom." She announces eyeing Adele as she stops next to her.
"Thanks." Caroline smiles softly towards them.
"Bill," Caroline's father turns to look at his daughter's best friend with slight surprise. He'd heard about what happened from his ex-wife but seeing the changes in person was a bit surreal. He's watched her grow up and imagining her as anything more than an innocent little girl was near impossible. He just wishes he'd have the time to get used to it the way he got used to the changes of his own daughter. "Did you see your attacker?"
"I didn't see anything." He answers regretfully. He wishes he could give them more information but it was a sneak attack, he'd been stabbed before he'd even realized what was happening. "I tried to sneak out the back exit and someone came up from behind me."
"We'll figure it out." Caroline says to the twins before turning towards her dad. "But in the meantime we need to get you some blood."
Bill stops in his pacing to look back at his only child and Caroline realizes what he's going to say before he even utters the words. "I'm not going to drink any blood."
"You have to." Elena says voice full of confusion. "You died with vampire blood in your system. If you don't feed and finish the transition into a vampire " child and Caroline realizes what he'he'you'll die." Elena explains and Adele knows that explaining won't do any good. Bill knows how this stuff works. He knows what his decision means.
"That's the point, Elena." Adele says just loud enough for her to hear causing her brunette sister to look over at her in surprise.
"I understand how it works." He confirms. "And that's what I'm prepared to do. Now get me out of this hospital, I smell blood everywhere."
Bill escapes the room before anyone can say anything else. "Caroline…" Elena sighs in that sympathetic way of hers that has always succeed in making Adele cringe.
"Elena, why don't you go start the car?" Elena doesn't need much more convincing to leave the room with the keys to the Camaro. She realizes that Caroline might do better with talking to Adele.
"What am I supposed to do now?" Caroline questions as soon as the door closes and Adele lets out a huge sigh when Caroline turns big blue eyes shining with tears to her. "What do I do?"
"You respect his decision." She answers as tough as it is to see her friend in such a distressed state.
"What?" Caroline exclaims, the feeling of betrayal seeping into her gut as she looks to her best friend. "I can't do that. How could you expect me to do that?"
"Caroline, come on." Adele says. "This is your dad. Your dad hates what we are. He spent his whole like hating vampires and you can't ask him to become everything he hates."
"I could try." She whispers tears spilling over onto her flushes cheeks.
"Yeah." Adele agrees slowly. "But do you really think he'd be happy as a vampire?"
"No." Caroline cries. "But I can't lose him."
"I understand…"
"No!" She snaps, anger taking over her feeling of helpless depression. "You don't! Adele, you don't understand!" And she regrets the words as soon as they come out as hurt flashes in Adele's blue eyes. Guilt slowly pushes the anger out of her system as Adele's lips press tightly together. Of course she understands. There wasn't anyone in her circle of friends besides possibly Elena and Tyler who could understand better then Adele. "I'm sorry." She whispers, eyes casting down to the floor.
"It's fine." Adele says after a minute of deafening silence and her voices cracks slightly. "Caroline, you can't try and force this on him but you can say goodbye. At least be grateful you can do that."
*VD*
After Caroline decided to take Bill back to her house, Adele and Elena promised they'd stop by later before Adele offers Elena a ride back to the house. She was a bit bitter after Caroline's comment but she could get over it, especially when Caroline needs her close by for support.
When they enter the house an hour later they find Alaric laying weapons out across the dining room table. Adele holds of a small duffle for Alaric to see. "The duffle full of vampire killing weapons from the trunk of the Camaro." She presents in an overly cheerful voice before slapping it down into one of the dining room chairs. "Why do you need it?" She asks as he picks it up and unzips it shuffling through it quickly.
"Taking inventory." Alaric answers without glancing up. "Did you bring it?"
"You mean did we steal evidence from a crime scene?" Elena sasses as she holds up the evidence bag holding the stake used to kill Bill Forbes. "Yes."
"And that was not easy to get." Adele says as Alaric takes the bag from Elena to get a closer look at it.
"You're right." Alaric sighs out placing the bag down on the table. "It's a match. This is from the crawl space in the foyer. Which means Meredith knew where it was."
"That doesn't mean she stole it." Adele insists and Elena nods, agreeing with her.
Alaric picks up a stake close to the edge of the table and holds it up to them. "This is from the loft." He picks up two from the duffle. "These are obviously from the duffle in Damon's car."
"Identical to the one that killed Brian Walters." Elena observes.
"Damon's car was at the Wickery Bridge fundraiser. So was Meredith. And that was the night her ex-boyfriend, the medical examiner, was killed. The one who called her psycho." Alaric explains to them.
"Well, she was trying to save Bill Forbes, why would she turn around and try to kill him?" Elena asks and Adele steps up.
"There has to be something we're missing. We cannot give Damon the satisfaction of being right about this, he'll be unbearable to be around and I have to sleep with the guy." She says.
"I don't know what to think." Alaric tells them. "But we'd be idiots to ignore the facts."
"What should we do?" Elena asks and Alaric lets out a huge sigh before picking the evidence bag back up. He hands it over to them and Elena slowly takes it.
"Get this to the police." He tells them. "And then you girls should be there for Caroline."
"I'm sorry Ric." Adele mummers and he nods. "Just be careful."
*VD*
"Niklaus," Elijah calls back to his awaiting brother just inside the room after opening the door. "Our guests have arrived." He steps to the side letting the two brothers enter before shutting the door. Both brothers dressed in leather jackets survey the room quickly assessing every aspect and every exit, in case something we're to go very wrong at any moment.
"Damon. Stefan. Elijah tells me, you seek an audience." Klaus is standing near a table set perfectly with a few women dressed the part of waitresses standing ideally around. Klaus's smirk tells them that he must be amused by this turn of events. "Very bold. Let's discuss the terms of our agreement like civilized men, shall we?"
Damon glances back towards the older original, not sure what the game was but Elijah simply walks past him with a small bout of advice. "It's better to indulge him." And before he can do or say anything, Stefan is moving closer towards the table.
"I didn't come here to eat Klaus." He is saying and already Damon wants to strangle him. "In fact I didn't want to come here at all, but I was told I had to because you would hear us out."
"Well," Klaus's grin turns sadistic quickly as he takes a seat at the round table facing them. "We can sit and eat or I can reach down your throats and pull out your insides. The choice is yours." Always quick with a threat, Stefan and Damon heed to it because when it came to Klaus, they realized a long time ago that leaving things to chance was a bad idea.
After a good 10 minutes of eating in silence while Stefan sits across from Klaus staring a hole through his forehead, the hybrid finally decides to take notice to him as he lifts his blue eyes from his plate to throw a small smirk in Stefan's direction. "You lost your appetite?"
Stefan doesn't say anything, only tilts his head slightly throwing back his own smirk and Damon speaks up, tried of Stefan's hostility. They had a plan and he'd be damned if he let Stefan ruin it, so he turns on his big brother authority voice, the one he had picked up when they we're still young and human. "Eat." He demands. "I thought we agreed that we would leave the grumpy Stefan at home." He resist only a few seconds longer before finally picking up his knife and fork.
"That's the spirit." Klaus praises much to Stefan's annoyance. "Isn't it nice? The four of us dining together? Is this what you had in mind when you un-daggered my brother?" Damon chuckles softly causing a stir of confusion for Klaus. "What's so funny?"
"You didn't tell him?" Damon directs the question to Elijah who merely shrugs and Damon with a grin that is both giddy and mocking turns back towards Klaus. "I didn't un-dagger him." Damon watches the hybrid's brows furrow in confusion. "Adele did. She did it knowing how he feels about you and she thought well the more the merrier." He could laugh at the way the hybrids lips press together and his eyes narrow just the slightest but he quickly replaces the look with that of one that shows nothing of interest was just said to him.
"Well, Elijah and I have had our share of quarrels over the century. But we always make it through." Klaus defends quickly ignoring the Adele comment for the time being.
Stefan decides it's time he speaks up again and Damon realizes he could do without him talking for the rest of the night. "Kind of like you and Rebekah, right? Where is she, by the way? Last I checked she was still daggered because you were afraid to face her."
"If you're referring to the fact that Rebekah knows I killed our mother, I've already come clean to Elijah." Klaus informs them and the brothers are not sure whether or not they are actually surprised by this so Damon throws the conversion off.
"Hey Stefan, you remember when you killed Dad?" He narrows his eyes at his brother who simply stares back. "Might want to dial down the judgment until dessert."
"We're here to make a deal, Damon." He counters. "Doesn't mean we need to kiss his ass for seven courses."
Once again Damon finds himself putting on his authority façade. "I'm just saying we have a long evening ahead of us. Pace yourself."
"You know…" Klaus speaks, getting into the brother's stare down. "Speaking of Adele,"
"Nobody is speaking about Adele." Damon cuts in automatically. "Not anymore, there's no need to bring her back into the conversion."
"Oh but I just have a simple question…" Klaus grins at the eldest brother and he can already feel his grip on his fork tightening. "Did she like the necklace I gave her?" Klaus watched as Damon's eyes blaze with a hatred that amuses him to no end. "Oh did she not show it to you? Quite lovely it was. It symbolizes freedom. Something I'm sure she'll never have tied down to this town."
Damon has to control his anger, the fork ready to bend in his vice like grip and Stefan eyes his brother out of the corner of his eye, watching him try to reel in his emotions. Elijah quickly detours the conversion, not ready for an all-out brawl just yet.
*VD*
"Did you hear from Tyler yet?" Adele's voice is soft as she searches her best friend's face. They are sitting on the steps of Caroline's porch with Elena down the driveway talking to Bonnie on the phone, catching her up on what's happening and getting the scoop on the coffin.
"No." Caroline shakes her head, eyes staring down at the cement step she's sitting on. "And I've left messages for him everywhere. So," She changes the subject. "Does Alaric really think that Dr. Fell did it?"
"I don't really think he knows what to think." Adele shrugs; it's the best answer she could give her. There wasn't much to be said about Alaric's train of thought at the moment.
"What about you?" Caroline eyes her.
"I…" Adele sighs reaching up to push hair from her face. "I wish the girl Alaric liked wasn't apart of all this. He deserves some sort of happiness but…yeah she looks guilty." She glances up at Caroline. "Which is what I told Elena to tell your mom." She sounds like its physically painful for her to say and Caroline offers her a small sad smile.
Caroline's shoulder's drop at the thought of her mom. "My mom's in their sitting with my dad. And I don't think they've been in the same room this long since I was ten years old." She pauses glancing up towards the front door. "Is there any chance that Tyler did it?"
"What?" Adele asks, slightly baffled by the question.
"If Klaus was trying to mess with you and he's sired to Klaus. And, I mean, he does everything that he's told." Caroline is in the beginnings of a ramble and Adele cuts her off quickly.
"No. Caroline, Tyler and I aren't on the best of terms at the moment but this…this wasn't him." She assures her and Caroline stares at her for a minute.
"I can't just…let my father die." She finally states. "I'm…I'm going to force him to feed." She declares wanting to ignore Adele's look of disapproval.
"You can't Care. He doesn't want to. At this point…the only thing your dad has left is his choice." Adele tells her. It wouldn't be right to force this on him and Adele knows that she knows this. She just needs to realize it and after a few long seconds she does.
Tears well up in her best friend's eyes, spilling over onto her flushed cheeks. "I hated him so much for what he did to me." She cries softly. "So much. Now all I want to do is save his life."
"Of course you do, he's your dad."
"What was the hardest part for you?" Caroline asks causing Adele to freeze. "When you lost your dad?"
Adele sucks in a shaky breath, not sure how to approach the question. She hadn't thought about the death of her parents in a while, she didn't want to. It still hurt and she loved her mother with all her heart but Elena was always the one who drifted more towards their mother while Adele stuck close to her dad and thinking of his absence was hard even now.
"Realizing all the things he wouldn't be there for and…the small things. Things that at the time didn't seem very important." Adele can feel the hot tears welling up in her own eyes at the thought. "The jokes and the nicknames. I never realized how much I'd miss being called "Oil-Bug". It was stupid and I loved it but it's something I didn't realize until it was too late." A tear slips down her cheek as she scoots closer to Caroline pulling the other blonde into her arms.
They glance up when a shadow passes over them and Matt stands in front of them with a sad smile. Caroline quickly stands moving into his arms as Elena takes a seat next to her and she glances at her blonde twin, her own tears shining in her eyes as Adele glances back at her. "I miss him to." She whispers and Adele gives her a watery smile that Elena returns as she grabs her hand.
*VD*
"Stefan," Elijah is the first to break the silence they had fallen into. "Where is the lovely Elena tonight?"
The question causes both the Salvatore's to tense up as Stefan eyes Damon. "I don't know." His answer is nothing but sarcastic and bitter. "Ask Damon." Damon's eyes roll as Elijah looks on in confusion.
Klaus laughs, a deep throaty laugh, completely amused by the brother's obvious tension. "I'm sorry." He says to his brother. "You've missed so much. Uh, trouble in paradise."
"One more word about Elena and this dinner is over." Stefan warns with a scowl directed at the two originals.
"You know what, probably best just to keep Elena in the do not discuss pile." Damon mentions.
"You're probably right." Klaus agrees but continues on. "It's just the allure of the Petrova doppelgänger, still so strong. What do you say, brother? Should we tell them about Tatia?"
Elijah seemingly uncomfortable with the course of the conversion sends his brother a displeased look. "Now why should we discuss matters long since resolved?"
"Well," Klaus starts. "Given their shared…history with both Elena and Katerina, I think our guests might be curious to learn about the originator of the Petrova line."
"We're not going anywhere Elijah." Damon says picking up his wine glass as he sits back in his chair. "Do tell." His words are sarcastic but he is slightly curious.
Elijah with a reluctant sigh sits back as well, his eyes casted down towards the table. "When our family first settled here, there was a girl named Tatia, she was an exquisite beauty." He begins. "Every boy of age desired to be her suitor, even though she'd had a child by another man. And none loved her more than Niklaus."
"I'd say," Klaus interrupts. "There was one who loved her just as much."
"Wait a minute," Stefan sits forward, his interest suddenly peaked. "You both loved the same girl?"
Elijah doesn't answer the question instead continuing on with his story; he wanted it over and done with. "Our mother was a very powerful witch. She sought to end our feud over Tatia and so she took her. Klaus and I would later learn that it was Tatia's blood that we consumed in the wine on the night where our mother performed the spell which turned us into vampires. Tatia wouldn't make a decision between the two of us, so for a time Niklaus and I... grew estranged. Harsh words were traded; we even came to blows, didn't we, brother?"
Klaus picks up his wine glass leaning forward and he doesn't deny his brother's words. "But in the end we realized the sacred bond of family."
Elijah swipes his glass from the table as well. "Family above all." He agrees quickly.
They clink glasses as Klaus sends him a grin. "Family above all."
Damon's phone buzzes in his pocket a moment later and he pulls it out opening the incoming message. His eyes move over the words on his screen for the third time with clenched teeth. Getting closer. Need more time. It's from Bonnie regarding the coffin and he closes the message opening up one of his own.
To: Kitten
Call Bonnie. Tell her she doesn't have much time left. We can't keep this up forever.
*VD*
She was just getting out of Damon's Camaro outside of Michael's apartment when she got Damon's message. It was about time she paid a visit to who she knew would be waiting inside if his truck parked next to her was anything to go by but she holds back, searching through her connects until she comes across Bonnie's number.
It rings three times before the witch answers. "Adele. Did Damon get my message?" She asks and Adele rolls her blue eyes.
"I'm guessing since he told me to call you. What is going on?" She asks leaning back against the side of the Camaro.
"We just need a little bit more time. Abby…isn't quite there yet but…she's getting there we just have to push a little harder. We just need more time." Adele lets out a harsh breath, her annoyance rising dramatically.
"Bonnie we don't have any more time. You lucky you've gotten the time that you did, the plan Damon and I came up with isn't exactly full proof. Something could go wrong at any second and then you're screwed. You need to get that coffin open and you need to get it open now. If my timing is right and nothing has gone wrong on Damon's end, something huge is about to go down and that coffin needs to be open." Adele explains in a rush causing Bonnie to sigh.
"We're trying Adele." She says. "It's harder than you think."
"I don't doubt that but you said you could do it and we trusted you. Make it happen Bonnie." Adele hangs up the phone pushing off the Camaro, ready to make her way up the apartment stairs when the cursed device begins to vibrate in her hand and glances down watching Elena's name flash across the screen for a minute before answering with a huff. "Could this wait Elena?"
"No, it really can't." She says and Adele straightens up at her cracking voice. "Matt drove me home and when we got here we found Alaric stabbed in the upstairs hallway. I had to kill him and now I'm waiting for him to wake up and Matt had to leave but Adele I don't want to be alone and Bonnie is busy and Caroline's in a hard place and I didn't have anyone else to call."
Adele sends a look up to the second floor of the apartment building before turning on her heel and reopening the car door. "I'll be right there." And she hangs up.
*VD*
"So why don't we move this evening along and discuss the terms of this proposal?" Elijah mentions glancing around the table.
Damon who had been looking at his phone looks up, feeling relieved after receiving the text back from Adele saying she took care of it. "That's very simple." He starts. "Klaus gets his coffin back, in exchange, he and the Original extended family leave Mystic Falls forever. Me, Stefan, Adele and Elena live happily ever after. No grudges."
Elijah looks towards his brother. "The deal sounds fair, brother."
But Klaus wasn't having it. He wasn't about to get his own needs thrown out the window. "I don't think you understand," He states to the eldest Salvatore. "Elena's doppelgänger blood insures that I will always have more hybrids to fight those that oppose me. I will never leave her behind." Klaus pushes away from the table, standing up only to start pacing.
"Let's say I do leave her here, under your protection, what then?" He asks "How long before one of you turns her into a vampire? Or worse, how long before she dies caught between your feuding? You see, each one of you truly believes that you're the one that can protect her, and that is simply a delusion. Gentlemen, the worst thing for Elena Gilbert is... the two of you. And poor Adele…she already died because you couldn't protect her, because you couldn't trust each other. Let's just be thankful she…"lived" through it."
The comment easily hits its mark as Damon's jaw clenches and his hands fist together. He realizes his failure with Adele and he doesn't need someone like Klaus throwing it in his face so he stands slowly and with as much politeness as he can master he excuses himself. "I'm going to go get some air."
As he's leaving and he can hear Elijah get up to follow him, he sends a text back to Adele.
To: Kitten
Good, because it's happening now.
*VD*
It isn't long before they return and the two ignore the now dead waitress lying at Klaus's feet and the obvious stare off between him and Stefan.
"So what do you say, Klaus?" Damon demands, ready to get this over and done with. "It's time for you to put something on the table. We've made our offer, now you counter."
Klaus seems to pounder over his offer carefully as he eyes the two younger vampires. "Okay." He finally says, slowly. "I offer Elena's future happiness." This startles them…slightly. "You see, what she needs right now is to be rid of you lot. And to fall in love with a human, maybe that nice football player, you know the blond one?"
"Matt Donavon? Really?" Damon questions. There was a whole town and the only one Klaus could come up with was Matt Donavon?
"Yeah, why not?" Klaus shrugs. "They'll marry, live a long and fruitful life, and pop out a perfect family."
"And continue the Petrova bloodline. Every few hundred years, you'll have a new doppelgänger to drain and never run out of hybrids, right Klaus?" Stefan is the first to ask but Damon was thinking it to.
"Well," Klaus's grin is directed at Damon. "Adele could have done that considering her own ties to the Petrova bloodline but that will never happen now which brings me to my next part of the offer."
"No." Damon cuts in, shaking his head. "Adele isn't apart of anything. You leave her out of this."
"I can't do that. If one sister gets happiness why should I let the other suffer?" Klaus bites back and Damon's lips press together. "Along with Elena's happiness I can also offer Adele's. I'll free her from you and this town. Compel her to forget you and this town and let her live her life exploring the world like she deserves. Adele is not going to be happy stuck in this town and you know it."
Damon wanted to yell, he wanted to scream at the hybrid that he doesn't know what he's talking about, that he doesn't know Adele but before he can even utter a word the hybrid is turning to Stefan. "What do you say Stefan? Do we have a deal?"
No! No! No! Damon is screaming in his mind as he eyes his brother and his breath hitches when he moves forward towards Klaus. "What are you doing?" he hisses out, ready at any moment to lunge at Stefan. He wasn't going to lose Adele to this. That wasn't part of any stupid plan.
Klaus holds out his hand for Stefan to shake and Stefan grabs it, fueling Damon's urges to jump at him but he holds himself back waiting to see where this goes as Stefan's grip tightens. "Nice try Klaus, but no deal."
Klaus doesn't take well to the decline, easily snapping Stefan's arm and just as easily kicking the back of his knee snapping his leg making him fall to one knee before shoving his hand into the crackling fire in the fireplace next to them, Stefan's screams of agony are loud and painful to listen to.
Damon tries to rush over to them, to help him but Elijah pushes him back to the wall with a hand to his throat. "What are you doing?" Damon demands.
"Now bring me my coffin before I burn him alive." Klaus states and Damon quickly pushes Elijah's hand away.
"I'll get it." He snaps pushing back Elijah to leave the room and Klaus turns to Elijah.
"Go with him, brother, you keep him honest and when you return, I will make good on my promise to you and I will hand over our family." Elijah sends a quick nod to Klaus before following after the retreating vampire.

Stefan with his hand still being forced into the fire pushes the pain aside as he tries to steal a glance up to the hybrid above him. "Go ahead and kill me, I know you'll do it when he brings the coffin." He tells him and Klaus with a grunt of annoyance pulls Stefan from the ground and pushes him away from the fireplace.
"You really have given up haven't you?" He pushes at him again causing him to take a large step back. "Where's the fight?" He pushes once again. "Where's the ripper?"
With a snarl Stefan shoves him away, sure that this would ensure a fight between them until he hears footsteps and the two vampires turn back towards the doorway to see Damon and Elijah reappear with a waitress following closely behind.
"Elijah…" Klaus says first with a tone of displeasure. "Why haven't you left?"
"Well," Elijah grins up to his younger brother. "Where are your manners, brother?" He turns towards the waitress to his left and Klaus finally notices the silver platter she's holding with a cover over it. "We forgot dessert." He reaches over lifting the cover off the platter to reveal two daggers placed upon it perfectly.
Klaus takes a wide, surprised step back. His eyes are the size of quarters as he gazes at the two daggers. "What have you done?"
"What have you done?" Elijah counters quickly. "You see I've learned not to trust your vulgar promises, Klaus. We're doing this on my terms now."
The first real sign of fear passes Klaus's expression as he takes a step back when his blue eyes land on the body moving into the room from behind Elijah and Damon. "Kol." He gasps and the second to the youngest original's smirk is cruel.
"Long time, Brother." The newly awakened original dwells out.
Klaus makes a move for the daggers, feeling threatened and exposed but someone beats him to it, grabbing the dagger before he can get to it and he holds a hand up to ward him off. "Fin," He yells. "Don't!" But the oldest original doesn't listen and he drives the dagger straight through Klaus's hand causing the hybrid to shout out.
He gets away, rushing for the back exit only to be cut off by the only other blonde original. "Rebekah." He breathes and the youngest original drives the dagger in her own hand into his side.
"This is for our mother." She snaps and Damon can't help the smirk that twitches on his lips. He's actually kind of sorry Adele was missing this though at the same time he's glad she's not there. He was on edge as it was with the five originals all in one room.
"You're free to go." Elijah speaks up not bothering to even glance at him. "This is family business." And Damon is all too happy to leave with Stefan by his side.

Adele gently lays Alaric on the couch after moving him from the upstairs hallway and as she straightens up as Elena comes in, shoving her cell phone back into her pocket.
"That was Caroline." She whispers and Adele already knows what she's about to say. "Her dad died." And she shifts her eyes to the wood floors with a sigh.
Elena moves over to stand next to her, her brown eyes looking over Alaric carefully. "He'll be okay." Adele assures her quickly seeing the tears welling up in her eyes. "You made sure of that." She shakes her head as the tears begin spilling over. She turns to her sister and Adele reaches out, pushing hair out of her twin's face with a small frown. "What is it?" She whispers.
"I can't lose any more family." Elena cries. "I already almost lost you."
"Hey." Adele reaches forward again placing her hands on top of Elena's shoulders making her meet her gaze. "But you didn't lose me. Jeremy is safe, Alaric is going to be okay and I'm…I'm not going anywhere, Elena."
"Promise?" Elena's voice is small and it reminds Adele of when they we're kids and Elena would come to her for help whether it be from bullies or that she was afraid of the monster in her closet and she just wanted to sleep in her bed, and she'd make her promise that she wasn't going to leave her, promise that she'd always protect her.
Adele nods, pulling her sister towards her and into a tight hug that Elena returns, clenching to the back of her shirt. "Promise." Adele whispers.

"Well," Stefan begins after minutes of silence as the two brothers are walking through the woods, towards the old Lockwood cellar to check on Bonnie and Abby. "I guess you and Adele we're right. Un-daggering Elijah was a smart move."
"Wow." Damon snorts. "Actual acknowledgement of a job well done. You're going soft, Stefan."
"So I guess I shouldn't thank you for saving me from Klaus?" Stefan asks glancing up at his older brother who scoffs.
"Shut up." He snaps out. "You don't get to thank me until I pay you back for all those times you've saved me."
Stefan stops walking causing Damon to stop as well. "You could have left me there." He states. "Klaus would have killed me and you know I would have deserved it. You could have went on knowing that Adele is yours and Elena trust you more then she trust me."
Damon's phone vibrates and he pulls it out, staring down at the flashing name. Elena. He rejects the call before turning towards Stefan. "I didn't do it on your account."
"I love her, Damon." He says, his voice strained.
"I know." Damon nods. "And I told you before, history is not repeating itself. You need to face the facts. I love Adele and you screwed up with Elena. I was just there to help her when she needed me. It's not my fault." He walks away, climbing the steps of the Lockwood cellar leaving Stefan to think over his words.

She left the house after Alaric woke up; telling Elena to get him to a hospital to make sure everything was okay. She made sure to tell Elena that she was just going back to the boarding house to talk to Damon and to grab some things before she came back.
But upon arriving and walking into the bedroom, she stops eyeing the disaster area that awaited her. The drawers of the dresser are pulled out, some of them even lying discarded along the floor with the clothes sprawled on the floor and hanging off the drawers. The bedside table drawers don't look any better and the closet is wide open everything looking shifted through viciously.
Damon is lying on the bed, legs crossed and book in his hands looking as casual as ever. "Hey Kitten." He calls without looking up. "How was your day?"
"Not ideal." She answers. "…What happened here?"
"Hm?" He finally looks up surveying the room before his eyes land on the end of the bed and she moves forward wanting to see what he was staring at.
She lets out a breath when she sees it. The necklace Klaus had given her lying discarded along the end of the bed and she wonders if he destroyed the room just to find it. "How did you…"
"How did I know about it?" His eyes move back to the book in his hands, one she knows now that he's not even reading. "Klaus may have mentioned it during dinner."
"Did you…"
"Tear the room apart looking for it?" He cuts her off. "Yes."
"Why?" She whispers watching him turn the page of the book. She moves over to him when he doesn't answer snatching the book from his hands and throwing it onto the bed. "Why?" She demands as his eyes snap up to her.
"I wanted to see if it was true. I have to give it to you; you are a sneaky one, hiding it in the drawer you know I never go in." He laughs but it's a humorless laugh and she sighs pushing a hand through her hair.
"Damon," She begins but he cuts her off.
"But why even hide it? I mean you had to of known, I'd find it eventually." He's watching her closely and she stares back at him with a shake of her head.
"Not before I gave it back which I'm planning on doing." She tells him quickly causing his eyes to narrow.
"So why haven't you?"
"I don't know Damon, maybe because I don't make it my job to run into him every chance I get. I actually like to avoid him as much as possible but hey if it's such a big deal, I'll tell you what…" She walks back around the bed, snatching the necklace up and making her way towards the door. "I'll go give it back right now."
She's about to walk out the door when Damon is suddenly in front of her snatching the necklace from her and throwing it off to the side. "Like hell you are." He hisses. "That house is full of Originals and I'm guessing whatever the hell was in that Coffin…"
"Wait." Adele stops him. "They got it open?"
"More like it opened itself but that's not what we're talking about right now. Why didn't you tell me about the damn necklace?" He demands and she throws her arms up in frustration.
"I don't know Damon. It's not like I wanted the thing, I didn't ask for it." She snaps and he laughs causing the blood to rush to her ears as she narrows her eyes.
"Why would he even give it to you then? What's the point of it?" Damon demands.
"Because he's crazy!" She yells. "He did it to get under my skin. Probably to annoy me!"
"Oh no, I don't think he's very interest in annoying you." He hisses and her eyes widen to point that if he wasn't so mad, he would've laughed.
"Are you kidding me?" She shirks pushing him back and he stumbles out the doorway and into the hall. "Is that what this is about? You're jumping down my throat because you think he has a thing for me? So what if he does? What does it even matter?"
He doesn't answer and she stares at him until she comes to her own conclusion. "Damon…please tell me you're not thinking that just because he gives me gifts I don't even want that I'm somehow going to start feeling something for him." When he doesn't say anything once again her fist clench together and he watches as veins crawl underneath the skin of her eyes. His own anger is barely controllable as he watches her fume in front of him. "You are the most ridiculous man I've ever met!" She snaps and he doesn't get the chance to respond before she's slamming the bedroom door in his face.
She turns away from the door, taking deep steady breaths as she tries to gain control of her anger. When she can feel her control slipping back into place, she takes to surveying the room again. With a sigh, she moves towards the closet ready to begin putting the room back together, again all while sending a message to her sister telling her she may be later then she thought.
Fin.
