Chapter Thirteen:
He had fucked up.
What was he going to do?
Itachi had left him protecting their home and Sasuke had just let two creatures get the better of him. They had tricked him by making him battle this damned Tacuazin demon and they had taken the advantage while he was distracted.
He knew better than to get distracted, it left room for mistakes. Itachi was often saying that and scolding Kisame over it.
Sasuke was angry!
How could he allow for them to make a fool out of him?
Aggravated, he could hear the sound of things getting trashed inside of the apartment, and loud music. The sound of their laughter sounded mocking to his ears, while the two creatures enjoyed themselves, doing God knows what.
Sasuke just hoped it wasn't permanent damage.
He paced back and forth, but no matter how he thought about it, he was going to have to break in through either the door or window. Itachi wouldn't be happy to see so much damage done to the apartment, but what choice did he have. Those stupid bat demons were more than likely already destroying everything.
It was best to stop them now.
Sasuke's eyes zeroed in on the window over the kitchen counter, and started to spark. He was sure all he had to do was tackle his body inside. He shifted his weight evenly on his paws to brace for a strong jump when Miss Chiyo's apartment door opened. He hesitated as the old woman made an angry growling sound, eyes aimed at the door.
He blinked, watching as she made her way over to his apartment and amazingly delivered a well-placed kick, ripping the door off its hinges. The look on her face went from anger to surprise in a matter of seconds, when she saw two bat creatures inside the apartment. Thinking it was something bad, Sasuke moved closer to have a look.
Inside, the couch had been moved and tossed on its side. The two bat demons were naked, one on top of the other laying in the center of the living room. They were on the verge of eating and mating all at the same time.
They too look surprised to have been interrupted from their little tryst.
"GET OUT!" Chiyo suddenly snapped, returning back to her grumpy self. "GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!"
Sasuke watched with abated breath as she launched at the bat creatures, intending to grab them.
They weren't nice, and despite being naked had weapons with them. They attacked her the moment that she was within range, cornering her. Chiyo flinched when her body was thrown against one of the walls, and she struggled to stand. She knew she wasn't as young as before, but she loved to believe she was still strong.
"Wrong party to mess with grandma," One of the bat demons hissed in a garbled voice.
The other one laughed, twirling it's knife.
"I'm not your damned grandma, you disrespectful brat," She fisted her hands, "Come at me, if you dare," She motioned for the bat to move closer.
It did, without hesitating and she ducked in time before he could stab her skull. Chiyo punched the creature in the gut, aiming to rip through him, but gasp when she couldn't break the skin. The bat snarled, watching her with furious eyes. She was breathing hard, not knowing what to do when it suddenly screeched right in her face and she cried out, bringing her hands to her ears.
The other one laughed, aiming it's weapon.
She would have been killed if at that moment Sasuke hadn't run in to attack. He bit into the wing of the one holding the weapon, zapping the creature to submission. He growled, his claws able to rip right through the things back.
The sudden cry of its partner shut the other bat up, and turned to see what was going on. It moved to grab its partner who at this point had fallen to its knees, blood painting its back.
Chiyo watched with wide eyes as the small kitten moved to stand in front of her, protectively. "This cat…" she muttered, surprised. She had seen the tiny creature with Itachi and always assumed it was just some random regular house pet.
Obviously, she had been mistaken.
Sasuke hissed as the bats turned to them and let out loud screeches, shaking the whole apartment with their combined power. Chiyo covered her ears, crying out from pain once again. Sasuke pressed his ears flat on his head and surged forward, a ball of electrifying fur that tackled into the bat creatures stomach, hard enough to rip right through.
It coughed.
Its partner stopped, reaching to catch them.
Sasuke used his claws then, and shredded until he ripped right through, coming out of the back. Blood covered him when he jumped up and over, immediately attacking the other creature. It gasped, watching him with wide eyes as Sasuke aimed for their mouth, pushing right in. It gagged, falling backwards, grasping their throat as Sasuke blasted right through.
The blood itself became sharp, answering Sasuke's call to destroy.
Chiyo stood up and weaved around some string until the bat creature was stuck, like in a spider web, or better said, making them her puppets. The kitten emerged, dripping blood, red eyes glaring as he moved to her side. Chiyo jumped a little, frightened by the sight but stilled her heart and got to work. She pulled the strings, hard, slicing right through the bodies, cutting in like the bat creatures were made of butter.
She wobbled forward, legs shaking as she lowered herself on the floor. She could nearly tear up and cry at what had happened.
She hadn't faced something so intense since she was just a young demon in the medical force. The things she had seen came crashing into her mind, reminding her of the awful things the world tried to pretend didn't exist.
She was silent as the kitten in front of her blew out a breath of fire, burning the bodies into a neat pile of ashes. The flames themselves like they were an extension of him, so much like Itachi who was also able to control such hellish flames…
Shaking her head, she slowly reached for the kitten that had helped her. It tensed up, but made no move to hurt her. She turned the kitten around and looked into the bright red eyes, so intelligent, watching her in return.
"You're no ordinary cat are you," she said, sounding suspicious, "I didn't think that Itachi was the kind to keep creatures with him. That's a fucking crime I ought to turn him in…" she threatened, making the kitten give her a wide eyed and scared look.
Sasuke was shocked at her words, watching her with pleading and frightened eyes, he cried out. "No, he doesn't know!" he shook his tiny kitten head, struggling with his speech in this form. "Itachi doesn't know that I am a creature, I just,….he saved me. I owe him I know it's not right,"
Chiyo smirked as she looked at the talking cat like she had just had something proven to her. She snorted and let out a loud belly laugh. The kitten stopped his ramblings as he stared at her, confused and frightened as hell.
"Relax little cat, Itachi won't get into any trouble. You on the other hand could be killed for fraud," she narrowed her eyes. "Itachi could end your life because you are nothing better than those creatures we just took care of," She gave him a serious look.
"I…" Sasuke quickly realized what situation he was in. He had given himself away without a second thought in order to protect Itachi. But now there was nothing that protected him. Nothing to protect him from Miss Chiyo, and nothing to protect him from Itachi if she dared tell him. "I'll leave. I won't return just don't say anything to Itachi, please." He begged now, tears threatening to spill past his ruby eyes.
Chiyo watched the sobbing kitten, giving him a hard look. She wasn't sure what it was that this little creature was doing tying to live with a dangerous demon like Itachi, but she did know that it meant no harm. How could it when it had come and helped her when she was in trouble. If anything this little guy had potential.
He was interesting and she bet Itachi thought so as well, but what exactly was the situation then?
She just had to know.
"No," Chiyo said, cutting the kittens soft wails. "You don't have to do that. I won't tell Itachi if you tell me what you are planning to do?"
"What…"
"Are you planning to take advantage of Itachi's kindness?" she asked. "Or are you planning to kill or harm Itachi…?"
Sasuke quickly shook his head. "No! Of course not I would never hurt Itachi. He saved my life and has taken great care of me…it's just… I'm afraid to tell him what I am…." Sasuke looked down, feeling like a coward.
Here he was, telling Chiyo all of this because he thought he was protecting Itachi, but reality was so much different. Itachi was strong enough to protect himself, why would he need Sasuke…
"Knowing Itachi as I do, he wouldn't judge you. Although I can't say he would be all too happy that you are lying to him." Chiyo suddenly said, a thoughtful look on her face as she looked the kitten over. Such a harmless little cry baby compared to the bawler she had seen just a few seconds ago.
What an odd little creature.
"I don't mean to." Sasuke mumbled with a slight pout.
"Well, now, come with me darling." Chiyo shakily got to her feet and walked out of the apartment, closing the door as she walked to her home. She shut the door and set the kitten on the floor. "I will treat your wounds and you can tell me how you came to be in Itachi's care, how about that," She offered, "Come on, turn little human."
Sasuke frowned, but nodded his head.
He followed her instructions and turned into his demon form. Chiyo was surprised to see the small child in front of her. He was at most seven or eight years old, a small build for his delicate and pale body. His deep black eyes looked up at her with such innocence as his bangs fell over them, and framed his curious face.
Despite looking frail, you could see he was being fed well and was growing.
Silently, she ruffled that rebellious spiky hair of his and led him to the bathroom. She told him to bathe while she went to go look for a change of clothes. She was so happy that she had kept the clothes her children had outgrown.
She had been hoping for a lot of things out of life, sadly, she never got any of them.
She just had these little memories.
By the time she was done collecting what she thought would fit him, she walked over to the bathroom to see that the kitten was done with his shower.
She handed him the clothing, glad to see that it fit him nice and warm before she brought out the first aid kit. Over all, he didn't look like he had suffered many injuries, except for cut here and there that had yet to heal.
While Chiyo treated his wounds, he started to speak. He told her his name and story. After listening to it, she decided to leave the situation alone. Not because she didn't care, but she decided that at the end it had nothing to do with her. This would be the kitten's decision whether he told Itachi who he was or not.
It would have to be in his own time.
She couldn't blame him either, the poor thing was still just a frightened child with so many things piling in his chest. Decisions were being made fast by him, as he grew each and every day.
It wouldn't be long before he was considered a full adult.
Creatures were truly cursed by the different aging system based on the creature that they were fused with. She had no doubt that within the two year mark, Sasuke would have reached full adult hood and then things would get more complicated for him.
"So the situation with that bastard that keeps coming here," Chiyo started, changing their conversation to the mutual annoyance plaguing their lives. "He's here because he wants something from Itachi's apartment?"
"Yeah, I don't know what it is but I've been practicing and getting stronger by battling against him," Sasuke said, fisting both his hands. "I will beat him and make sure he never comes back."
"It's dangerous you know, especially for a childlike yourself," Chiyo chided as she finished cleaning his wounds. She set aside her first aid kit and gave the boy in front of her a hard look. "He's not like those creatures, that snake man is a full fledge demon,"
"I'm Eight!" Sasuke countered his gaze defiant. "I'm a big kid, I will grow strong enough to defeat him just like I did with those bats!"
"Child," Chiyo refused to budge on that. "Creatures are weaker, you have to be careful. You might end up in a situation that you can't get out of."
Sasuke huffed, but knew she was right. He'd been four when those rat demons had nearly killed him. Even though now things would be different, those had just been creatures.
Orochimaru was a demon like Itachi.
"Tell you what, I will help and coach you when Itachi goes to work," Chiyo suddenly offered, grabbing Sasuke's attention once more. "I was a killer combatant on my day and know a few things, I will train you well to become an excellent fighter to be proud of,"
"Really Miss Chiyo!" Sasuke brightened up, "Please, I will work hard to learn from you!"
"Great," Chiyp smjiled, feeling endeared to the boy now.
From there the two plotted new ways that Sasuke could train and at the same time, teach Orochimaru some painful lessons for trying to break into Itachi's apartment.
Itachi was having a great conversation with both Tamaki and Shinko about proper cat care, while Tenma died a little inside from having to sit there and listen. Tenma was slowly banging his head on the table when Itachi's phone vibrated.
Itachi noted that it was time to head to meeting area.
"I have to go," he said, moving to stand. "It was great meeting you all, and thank you for the tips on cat care," Itachi smiled.
"Wait, before you go, here," Tamaki pulled out her business card and handed it to Itachi. "We run a weapons and cat shop that is perfect for you. Please be one of our VIP clients," she said with hope clear on her face.
"Yes please, and bring Kitty along with you, we would love to meet him!" Shinko added, placing both her hands together in a pleading motion.
"Kill me," Tenma groaned, unable to believe how friendly they had all gotten in such a short time. It was like they had been friends forever.
"I will. Thank you," Itachi said, fascinated that he had made some new friends that shared in something he was interested in, specifically in the care of his kitten. "I will definitely try to check out your shop," he was so happy to have learned so many things about taking care of Kitty.
"You're welcome Itachi, take care!" Both Tamaki and Shinko waved goodbye as Itachi left to meet with his friends. Tenma let out a heavy sigh, feeling defeated. Itachi was actually a cool guy there was just something that left him feeling annoyed over him.
He didn't like how close he seemed to be getting to Shinko.
He couldn't stand Itachi!
Itachi, not knowing how Tenma was feeling, happily placed the card away inside his pocket and headed to the meeting place. Konan, Pain, Kisame, and Suigetsu were already there.
They were talking and waiting for the others to show up.
"Hey Itachi how was it!" Suigetsu called once he noted that Itachi was making his way over. Kisame turned and looked just as eager to hear how things had gone. "Did you have any luck?"
Itachi felt guilty now that he was facing his friends, he hadn't looked for a partner.
"Uh…I didn't find anyone," Itachi confessed. His friends all sighed in disappointment, looking at him like he was hopeless. Itachi felt like he was two inches tall when they looked at him that way.
"Maybe a club isn't the right place for Itachi to find someone," Konan crossed her arms, eyeing the young demon with wonder.
"But where else could we search?" Kisame asked. "Clubs are the hot zones for singles,"
"We could throw a party and invite other people we know and they can bring some of their friends and we could see if Itachi finds someone there." Konan suggested.
"Like a social event?" Pain asked, sounding less than enthusiastic. He already hated going to the forced social events but they were a necessity in order to network with others and help their company.
"Yeah," Konan said, looking at her partner apologetically.
"Guess we will be holding a mandatory social event based on work because I am not having it at my house," Pain conceded, crossing his arms with a sour look on his face. Konan smiled, but knew that was a lot of effort on his part.
"It won't hurt to try it and see if meeting a different group of people will be good for Itachi," Konan turned to smile at the said demon, "What do you think, Itachi?"
"I think this is a lot of effort just to get me a date," Itachi said, looking completely unhappy over the idea.
"Well it's short of us becoming like your mom and just telling you to go on blind dates," Konan said.
"True," Itachi conceded.
"Are we going to leave now?" Hidan asked as he walked up to them. Behind him was Kakuzu looking completely drunk as he swayed and couldn't follow in a straight line. Behind Kakuzu was Deidara and Sasori who were whispering and giggling towards each other, lost in their own world.
"What happened to him?" Pain asked, pointing at Kakuzu.
Hidan made a face, "He faced a few rejections today,"
"Let's go get something to eat," Kakuzu cut in, feeling embarrassed when he realized that Hidan had just told the others about his failures of tonight. "I want to eat!"
"Uh no, we have work tomorrow. I told you guys not to get wasted because no one was designated to drive us," Pain gave them a hard look.
Kakuzu groaned but Hidan threw his arm around him, keeping him steady. "No worries, I'll make sure that he gets home safe"
"Thank you. Where's Zetsu?" Pain asked as he counted his friends, making sure that they were all there. For the most part they were.
"He sent a group text saying that he found himself a rose and that he will be spending the night in bloom with her," Konan said as she scrolled through her phone. She took note of where he said he would be and made a note to make sure they called him in the morning.
"Alright, seeing as we're all here, let's get going. No one is drunk right?" Pain asked, being sure to give each a measured look. The last thing he needed was for them to lie to him
"No, we didn't drink anymore and Itachi doesn't drink." Kisame said as he placed his arm around Suigetsu's shoulder. The two of them had spent most of the night too busy flirting and dancing with each other.
"We're good too, we didn't drink" Deidara spoke for himself and Sasori.
"I'm good as well," Hidan assured. He had driven with Kakuzu for the fact that out of the two, Kakuzu couldn't hold his drinks.
Once they were established on who was going to be driving, the group walked out of the club. They were quiet and sedated compared to how they usually acted, but they were tired and knew that in just a few hours they had work.
Quietly they got into their cars, waving. The sound of the cars turning on was prominent in the night.
"Bye,"
"See you guys later!"
Kisame didn't blast any music as he drove them home.
Suigetsu had fallen asleep in the passenger seat while Itachi looked out the window, lost in thought. Kisame kept glancing at him over the rearview mirror, concerned for his friend.
"Did you really not have any luck finding a date Itachi?" Kisame asked. He frowned when he got no answer. "Itachi?" he called, a bit louder. "Hello, earth to Itachi, listen to me!"
"Huh," Itachi blinked and turned his head. "What's wrong?"
"I was just asking if you really had no luck tonight," Kisame gave him a concerned look when he came to a red light. "It's not like you to space out either, are you okay?"
"Oh," Itachi said, "I talked to a few people but no one that I would date. I was just thinking about it, don't worry, I'm fine" Itachi said.
"Hm, well at least you weren't hiding in some shady corner like I thought you would be." Kisame said, driving once more when the light turned.
Itachi frowned. "I wasn't going to hide, but…"
"You didn't make an effort to look for someone." Kisame guessed. "Come on Itachi, what's so difficult about looking for a partner."
"What if I don't have a partner?" Itachi asked. "What if I'm just meant to be on my own, did you ever think of that?"
"I thought that about myself but even you said that there had to be someone out there for me," Kisame fingers tightened around the steering wheel. He knew that he could be pessimistic, but Kisame had been hurt. He'd had several relationships before Suigetsu that had hurt him.
Itachi had none of that.
The young demon was still green when it came to the matters of the heart. He couldn't think that there was anyone that had hurt Itachi in that way. Itachi was just awkward and a bit socially different, that was all.
"Why can't you believe that there might be someone out there for you?" Kisame whispered, but he was sure that Itachi heard him.
"It's easier to say it and encourage someone else than it is to worry about yourself," Itachi dully said, "but the truth of the matter is that I don't feel like searching for a partner."
"Don't you get lonely?" Kisame asked as they reached their apartment building and waited for the gate to the underground parking to open. "Don't you want to share your life with someone?"
"I'm not lonely, and no." Itachi said. If his family and friends weren't so adamant about bringing this topic up, Itachi would probably never think about it.
"You're just saying that because you have no experience!" Kisame drove forward, and to their usual parking space. He cut off the engine and turned his body so he could properly face Itachi. "Look man, I think you need to be a bit more open and give someone a shot. You're being so stubborn about it all."
"Is it weird that I don't want a relationship?" Itachi asked in return. He was more than ready to jump off the car and go back to the apartment. It had worried him many times that there was something wrong with him, and that was the only thing that the people around him made him feel. He was starting to hate this feeling.
"Not as weird as it sounds impossible to not want one," Kisame rolled his eyes and leaned in to wake up Suigetsu. The white haired male tried to turn away, refusing to wake up but the seat belt kept him in place. That was enough to wake up Suigetsu who looked around confused, startled by the restraint.
"Where…" he muttered, and let out a breath when he faced Kisame.
"We're back at the apartment, you will spend the night right?" Kisame asked, sounding hopeful.
Suigetsu yawned and nodded his head. "Yeah," he said and unbuckled himself.
Itachi opened the back door and climbed out. He stretched as he waited for Kisame and Suigetsu to finish whispering to each other. All three of them walked to the elevator, their thoughts the same on wanting to go to bed.
When they approached, the first thing they noticed was that the door had suffered some damage. There was a sticky note on the front that Itachi quickly read and then turned towards their neighbor, urgently knocking the door.
Confused, Kisame took the note and read it out loud.
"Itachi dear, there was a small mishap. I have your kitten please come get him once you are home. Love Miss Chiyo" Kisame turned to look at Itachi who was impatiently waiting for Chiyo to open the door.
"This place sounds dangerous," Suigetsu commented, "Last time you told me someone broke in to steal Kitty, and now it seems like it happened again," the man shivered at the cool breeze of the night, but looked at the door with disdain.
The idea that anyone might hurt Kisame was worrying him.
"Well it's not like we can afford another place at the moment, so we asked our neighbor to keep a look out. It had been a while since the last break in so we didn't think it would happen again," Kisame was disheartened himself.
"Hm," Suigetsu crossed his arms, "It's not like this is a bad neighborhood either," He knew, because he had researched the area, but you never know what lurks around. "maybe someone is targeting you guys, specifically?"
"Why us though," Kisame frowned.
"Maybe the kitten," Itachi concluded, getting a hard look on his face. He knocked once more since the door wasn't being answered. "I did find him almost dead, what if the person who tried to kill it saw that I saved it and now has a grudge against us."
"That's possible." Kisame muttered. These things did start happening once Kitty had become part of their life. Before then everything had been calm and peaceful.
The lights for Chiyo's apartment turned on, signaling that she had heard their knocking.
"That's messed up. What could a small innocent creature be guilty off?" Suigetsu wondered, concerned about Kitty. If anyone tried to hurt the little thing he was sure he'd be ready to protect it.
"Just some sick weirdo, I'd kick their ass if I ever see them!" Kisame hissed.
Itachi let out a heavy breath.
He had thought about it. The thing was that besides someone actually coming to kill Kitty, he figured the kitten just had bad luck on its side. It could just be death trying to find a way to take him away from him. Itachi wasn't going to allow that. There is no way that he was going to lose Kitty, because as much as bad luck followed Kitty, so did good luck, because Itachi was there for him.
As long as Itachi breathed, Kitty had to as well.
The door to Chiyo's apartment opened and the little old lady stepped out looking bleary eyed and dressed in her pajamas. She looked so frail and tired, Itachi felt bad about bothering her. He just couldn't rest easy if he didn't see and hold Kitty as soon as possible.
"Sorry to bother you Miss Chiyo, but I believe you have my kitten?" Itachi politely said, trying not to sound too desparate in getting said kitten back.
Chiyo smacked her lips as she looked up at Itachi. For a moment she believed she was looking at some sort of Adonis God, and she dreamily gazed at him. She swore the moon was about to burst, like a halo covering this wonderful man in front of her. Oh to be young once more, she'd show him a good time and have him leashed around the neck at her knees…
"Damn old lady, you're drooling. Are your teeth even in?" Kisame jeered making Suigetsu laugh.
Chiyo snapped out of her reverie and turned sharp eyes to Kisame. Out of nowhere she pulled out a cane and started to beat the shark demon over his head. Suigetsu leaped out of the way, begging her to stop and leave his boyfriend alone.
"Get the fuck out of my sight!" she snapped, baring perfect teeth at him.
Kisame and Suigetsu ran into the apartment and hid behind the crooked door. Suigetsu made a comment about how they were going to fix that, it couldn't be safe to sleep with the door that way. Kisame said he could find a fix for the night.
Itachi was left alone standing with miss Chiyo. The old woman gasped and quickly composed herself, trying to pretend that she hadn't just tried to kill someone in front of Itachi.
"Darling, you're here. Come inside I will get the kitten for you," She said sweetly, batting her eyelashes at Itachi. The demon hesitated before he followed after her. She had him sit in the living room while she wobbled her way to her bedroom.
Once there she quickly shook Sasuke awake and had him turn back into his kitten form. Confused, he did as asked and then looked up at her with large red expectant eyes.
"Itachi is here for you," she finally said, the mere mentioned of Itachi's name had Sasuke excited and ready to run to him. Chiyo, of course, plucked him off the floor by the scuff of his neck and smirked directly into his tiny face, "Aren't you lucky that he came straight home just to get you," She mocked softly with a short laugh.
Sasuke was confused by her statement as she properly gathered him in her arms and walked back into the living room. Sasuke perked up the moment that he spotted Itachi and rudely jumped out of her arms in order to run towards Itachi.
Itachi watched as Kitty ran to him, meowing wildly. He smiled when the kitten wiggled his small bottom before jumping up onto his lap, clawing his way up as he nearly missed his mark and then snuggled into his stomach, purring contently. Meowing insistently, he rubbed himself against Itachi, begging for his attention.
"Hey Kitty, are you okay?" Itachi asked, inspecting the purring small fur ball of affection.
"He's alright, I am the one that got hurt darling, look at what those damned creatures caused," She lifted her night gown in order to show the gash over her legs. Itachi flinched, startled at the sight.
"I'm sorry Miss Chiyo. Thank you for taking care of our apartment, I'll make sure that you are compensated. Is there anything I can do to help you until you are healed?" Itachi offered, holding Kitty close to his chest once he got to his feet. He wanted to leave as soon as possible.
The Kitten glared slightly at Chiyo, disbelief painting his face.
She smirked, noticing.
Ah, Sasuke didn't like sharing Itachi's attention, well that was something.
"No darling, I will be alright. I'll just ask if you could go grocery shopping with me for the next two weeks though?" She batted her eyelashes, leaning in so her head rested near close to his arm that she lightly touched.
Sasuke hissed, shocked.
Itachi smiled, his hand gently holding the kitten back as he rubbed his fingers into his fur to calm him down. "You got it miss Chiyo, just please let me know in advance. I will gladly join you."
"Thank you Itachi, my dear," She continued to tease. She happily noted the way that Itachi carefully cared for the kitten and found that she didn't really have the heart to make Itachi go shopping with her. He is a nice boy, but she doubts she'd actually make him take time off just to go with her.
Still, she needed a form of payment.
She had battled hard.
She happily led Itachi to the door, allowing him out, "Itachi dear, before you go, will it be too much to ask for a kiss on the cheek, love?"
Itachi gave her a curious look, but smiled softly as he leaned in to peck a quick kiss to her cheek. To him the woman was like a sweet grandmother with a funny little angry disposition. He didn't mind her.
Her heart fluttered, making her melt when she felt Itachi's kiss.
Sasuke was shocked, fur on end when Itachi did that. Something inside his small gut churned with a feeling he had no name for and his claws sunk into the dumb demons shirt.
Stupid Itachi!
How dare he, the dumb demon.
He was so so so….STUPID!
Sasuke growled, upset and unsure of why he was feeling so bothered.
"Goodnight Miss Chiyo," Itachi spoke so smoothly that she ended up standing there, even after he had gone inside his apartment. She sighed as she fanned herself, thinking that it had been so hot. Itachi had boiled her blood and she was definitely going to die.
While she was old and had no one left in her life, she still had one craving left in her old age, and that was the company of a hot man. Itachi was young, but he was definitely someone that made her weak in the knees, as embarrassing as that was. Whether it was that sinister aura around him, or the mature vive, perhaps just his polite and gentle demeanor despite that little edge…
"Oh my, I'm so old what am I thinking. I must be going crazy." She pressed her hands to her flushed cheeks.
No, she was just lonely.
Life had left her alone.
She knew she wanted to, and craved to relive her younger days. The truth of the matter was that life was losing its luster and she was at her end. Soon the little pleasures that she kept around her would no longer matter to her.
She knew it.
She was not long for this world.
Meeting that young Kitten though gave her some hope. She wanted to help him and educate him. She wanted to have mischief with him and make that snake demon's life miserable. She was looking forward to learning more with and about Sasuke.
He was an interesting being.
And, she smirked closing her door and heading off to bed, it would be fun to see what could end up developing between those two. Witnessing a possible romance bloom was her new goal in her life, she couldn't wait!
Sasuke yawned, annoyed to find himself alone in bed.
Stretching, he made his way to the kitchen. There was noise coming from there, and he was sure that he would find the idiot Itachi there. Sasuke was still upset about last night. His little head kept replaying the scene of Itachi kissing Chiyo and his fur puffed up again, miffed.
Pausing, he took note of what was happening in front of him.
Itachi was up early, and he was packing up his bag. Sasuke already knew what it meant when Itachi packed way more than was needed for a day of work. It meant that the demon anticipated not coming home for a few days.
Sasuke's tail flickered behind him in agitation, his claws scratching at the wooden floor, as he usually did when he was stressed. He wanted to go with him. He didn't want to spend days away from Itachi. Just as Sasuke was thinking of taking the risk of shifting and showing Itachi who he really was, he was suddenly knocked to his side.
He hissed, and swiped his claws at Kisame who had bumped into him.
Itachi quickly jumped, scared that Kitty might be hurt.
"Fuck I'm sorry, I didn't see him there. Is he okay?" Kisame asked, scared that he would have harmed the small creature.
Itachi pulled Kitty Into his arms, checking him.
"He's fine," he sighed and looked at his friend with a frown. Kisame was carrying a large bag that made it hard for him to see where he was going. "How much are you packing, we're only going to be gone for a few days. Probably less than three, if nothing goes wrong."
"It's not my idea," Kisame muttered, looking a bit embarrassed when Suigetsu walked in behind him. The man had a list in his hand and was carrying a few other things in his hands.
"Kisame make sure you have enough snacks, you get cranky when you get something in your tummy," Suigetsu said, moving to open his bag to place the items inside. "Make sure you eat well, I don't want you to lose focus,"
Itachi arched an eyebrow, staring in disbelief.
Kisame went beat red.
For as much as he complained about how annoying the others were when showing affection, his boyfriend wasn't short on it with him. Kisame had once claimed that he never wanted a relationship where he was babied.
Here he was though, being babied beyond belief.
"I got everything, stop worrying." Kisame softly whined trying to move away from his boyfriend.
"Yeah right, did you pack your underwear? You have to be sure to change it every day, you are my boyfriend and I'll be damned if you are not clean," Suigetsu was going through the bags, checking that list of his twice.
Itachi walked away without a word, deciding he needed to finish packing up and leaving behind a list of his own. A list that detailed to Suigetsu how he was going to take care of Kitty.
Once everything was taken care of, they left.
Sasuke was left feeling upset.
Itachi had only left a few hours ago, and already he missed him like crazy.
A few days later of having Suigetsu as his babysitter, Sasuke was ready to kill himself.
He was not only missing Itachi, but the damned white haired man wouldn't stop bugging him. If this is what living with Suigetsu was going to be like, he'd rather not.
Suigetsu was always there.
It made sense at first, since the door had to get fixed. The day that Itachi and Kisame left, Suigetsu had called someone to come look and repair it. After that, it was like Suigetsu never left.
His cooking wasn't the best. He tried dunking Sasuke into a bath several times a day, telling him it was for his own good and his skin…fur? He tried feeding Sasuke the oddest of snacks, the taste having made the poor kitten vomit.
He only stopped when Sasuke vomited all over his lap and then later that night on the bed.
It was like the man also never left. Didn't he have a job?
Sasuke had wanted to go out, but knew he wasn't allowed.
Sasuke softly groaned.
He missed Itachi but knew that due to circumstances, not even Itachi could control whether he got to stay at home or not. His job was a demanding one that called for him. So here he was, dreaming of being able to go with Itachi, to always be at his side. When it came to responsibilities and all of that, yeah, Sasuke knew and understood that Itachi had important things to do even without him.
That didn't mean he had to like it.
Sasuke suddenly looked at the time and scrambled out of bed. He unlocked the door to Itachi's bedroom and shifted before he stepped out, back to his kitten form. Today was the day he was most looking forward to!
Suigetsu was still in the apartment. He probably wouldn't be leaving until Itachi and Kisame returned later today, he had heard the conversation on the phone and he was excited. The man was half awake walking around the kitchen, preparing food and had yet to change into proper clothing. Suigetsu didn't look like he was in a hurry either.
Sasuke was getting a bit hungry and thought about asking Suigetsu for food, but he also knew that it wouldn't be long now for the show to start. He climbed onto the couch and started to lick through his fur.
What approach would Orochimaru try today?
The snake demon hadn't made many attempts in the past few days, mainly because Miss Chiyo had the brilliant idea to attack him before he even got out of his getaway car. They had caused damage to the vehicle, but it also meant that the snake was changing how he would attack.
Would he pick on the door, or would he…
Sasuke gasped in shock when Suigetsu suddenly let out a loud scream. He jumped up and ran towards the kitchen, coming to a halt when he saw that Orochimaru had his face creepily pressed against the window. His eyes were wide, almost as if he was not expecting to find someone inside.
Suigetsu grabbed one of the knifes in the kitchen counter and Orochimaru ran off.
"Fuck no," Suigetsu gritted as he threw open the window and jumped out. He ran after Orochimaru, throwing the knife and embedded it onto his back.
Sasuke watched everything from the window where he had climbed, but not wanting to leave it open and the apartment alone he had not chased after. He had learned his lesson about leaving his home unprotected. His nails dug into the window sill when Orochimaru tripped because of Suigetsu's mad knife skills.
Get him Suigetsu! Sasuke silently cheered.
This could be it!
Orochimaru was finally going down.
Suigetsu cursed as he tried to catch the snake. He pulled Kubikiribōchō, his blade, from the air next to him. Suigetsu jumped, intending to lock Orochimaru in place, but the man was quick. He dodged in time, and ran out the gate doors.
Suigetsu chased him all the way across the front yard of the apartment building, determined to end him.
Orochimaru managed to get into his getaway car, now a mini cooper, and hissed at Yamato to go before Suigetsu could get him.
Suigetsu didn't simply let him go, jumping onto the back of the car and slamming his blade into the back window. The two men screamed, shocked by the vision the white haired man made. The car swerved, trying to get him off. Suigetsu jumped off when the car turned into oncoming traffic, but cursed when it narrowly made it through causing just a slight commotion.
Fucking bastard!
Sasuke blinked when Suigetsu returned to the apartment with an angry look on his face. He gathered Kitty in his arms as he climbed in through the window and petted his back as he grabbed his phone. He locked the window and ignored the food he had prepared as he paced into the living room.
Sasuke watched as the agitated white haired man kept muttering under his breath, looking worried.
What was wrong?
Sasuke thought he did an awesome job kicking Orochimaru out and protecting the apartment as he should as Kisame's mate.
"Kisame my love we have a problem. Some fucker just tried to get into the apartment and he saw me in nothing but your shirt while I was cooking. He was spying on me!" Suigetsu dramatized as soon as Kisame answered his phone call. "He wanted to take advantage of me!"
"What, who was it? Tell me and I will gouge out his eyeballs!" Kisame roared, pissed at the idea of anyone attempting to hurt his lover. "I will rip off their limbs and make sure they can never use their fun part ever fucking again!" The idea that they had looked at his lover while he was vulnerable made him want to kill.
"I don't know, some slimy greasy bastard." Suigetsu sobbed. "He wanted to hurt me and Kitty. I'm going to call the cops and give a statement on him." he said.
"Itachi!" Kisame roared on the other side making Sasuke perk up at the name of his demon. "Some bastard tried to kidnap Kitty!" the man said. Sasuke shook his head, thinking that Kisame and Suigetsu were perfect for each other with the way they were embellishing the story of what had really happened.
Secretly, he was hoping to hear Itachi angry about that...
What would he do to the snake demon for even looking at him?
"Love, are you listening to me?" Suigetsu demanded, annoyed that Kisame wasn't listening to him anymore.
"Yes go ahead and call the cops. Itachi and I are almost there," Kisame said. Suigetsu sighed. He had heard that Itachi cared a lot about the little fur ball that was currently in his arms, but he didn't know it was like that. He had assumed they were still far from home… Suigetsu glanced down at the kitten and then shrugged, yeah he was cute and could see why Itachi was protective. "You're so adorable kitty!" Suigetsu praised as he hung up the phone and carried the kitten with him to the bathroom.
Sasuke settled over the edge of the bathtub that was filled with water as Suigetsu took off all his clothes and climbed in. The man sat back in the water with a sigh of relief as he made his dramatic phone call to the police.
Sasuke silently listened in, his paws patting at the water to create little ripples.
Police officers for demons were interesting.
They were completely different to what Itachi and Kisame were. Instead of going on in a roundabout way and just try to get the information themselves, these officers questioned Suigetsu. The white haired man provided every last detail of Orochimaru, amazingly even the license plate number.
After that, the officers left.
Sasuke watched with agitation.
Where they going after Orochimaru now?
Were they going to punish him for doing bad things…
Somehow the thought made him feel dissatisfied. Sasuke wanted to be the one to punish Orochimaru and make sure that he understood that he wasn't welcomed around here. Sasuke sighed, glad at least that for now things were over.
The door then slammed open and he turned around to see Kisame panting hard, looking drenched in sweat.
"What happened?" the shark demon demanded.
Suigetsu who was properly dressed now blinked his eyes at his boyfriend, surprised to see that he had rushed to get to his side. It melted something inside of him, and for whatever reason or the other, he started to bawl his eyes out. He ran to hug Kisame, telling him everything that had happened and what the police had said.
Kisame held Suigetsu gently while gritting his teeth.
Itachi entered then, looking annoyed with Kisame. "The hell Kisame, be it the last fucking time you jump out of the car in the middle of fucking traffic." The Uchiha said in the calmest, but deadliest voice that any of them had ever heard.
"I was scared for Suigetsu!" Kisame defended himself. "Traffic was not about to stand in between me and my sweetheart." Kisame cuddled his white haired boyfriend. Suigetsu blushed in embarrassment.
Itachi slammed the door closed behind him and his eyes looked around for Kitty. He walked over and petted him, silently inspecting that he hadn't been hurt. He let out a relieved breath when he noticed that he was fine and took a seat on the couch, allowing the kitten to settle into his lap.
Sasuke gazed at Itachi, instantly purring and melting into his touch.
"What did the police say?" he asked.
"Geez Itachi, you look quite evil like that." Suigetsu commented as he looked over to the long haired demon. Itachi sitting with Kitty made him look like an evil boss mafia guy. "Anyways, they said that they will look into it, which you know that means they don't give a fuck," Suigetsu rolled his eyes.
"I'm thinking we have to put up a security system up," Itachi said and Sasuke glanced up at him. "The moment I have a profile on that person, they are dead." Kisame and Suigetsu agreed and they started discussing what security system they could get.
Sasuke started to worry.
If Itachi placed a security system, he was going to have to be more careful when shifting.
