This is the intro to an older idea of mine for an Avatar X Fairy Tail crossover fic. This was never intended to be a published fic and just a teaser introduction sequence for the sake of it.

Water. Earth. Fire. Air. My mother used to tell about the olden days, days long past from before the times of magic, guilds or kingdom, when the world was split in 4 nations: The Water Tribes, tribals of the water, Fire Nation, warriors of the flames, Earth Kingdom, masters of the earth, and the Air Nomads, pacifists of the air. All nations being tied up peacefully by the Avatar, Master of the four elements. She told me how the world once was in a one hundred year-long war with the Fire Nation after the Avatar suddenly vanished and a mass-genocide of the Air Nomads.
It took one hundred years but the newfound Avatar Aang and his friends stopped Fire Lord Ozai and with the help of Prince Zuko, connected the spirit world and the Fire Nation Colonies once again, combining them into a sovereign state for both benders and non-benders known as Republic City.
After the death of Aang, a new and younger Avatar by the name of Korra was born into the water tribe, and like her predecessor, she and her friends saved Republic City from many threats ranging from Amon the madman who wished to destroy all benders, Unalaq The Dark Avatar, the terrorist radical bender organization known as the Red Lotus and eventually the power hungry General Kuvira.
All of that resulted in the world being connected with the spirit world once more during the Harmonic Convergence…and spirits and spiritual energy were now able to flow freely to our own world,and that was the start of magic as we know it.
Avatar Korra led the world to a brighter tomorrow like all the past Avatar did…allowing benders to create their own new arts and that led to magic being discovered. Magic being a new way of bending that could let you do absolutely anything with merely the help of spirits and their spiritual powers.
The world was led into another era of peace, and with Avatar Korra's death…all the 4 nations of the past joined together with Republic City to create a small nation of 1 million known to us today as The Kingdom of Fiore with benders soon becoming mages and creating groups known as guilds where they could use their powers to help people in exchange for small fees.
She told me how everybody waited for the Avatar's return but…once an entire millennium passed…the world all but forgot that the Avatar, bending or the four nations even existed as with the appearance of magic and guilds.
That was…until I was born…
The next Avatar.
And I am…
A member of…
Fairy Tail.
The world can sigh in relief knowing that…Avatar Ren and the guild known as Fairy Tail will protect it from whatever dangers come this way…
