This had to happen, simply for the reason of taking it further into the darkness than the original.
Rennis Institution
The girls' bathroom would normally be empty on the east wing at this time, but for about five minutes, a rather disgusting tradition had taken place yet again. This unholy initiation, a nasty thought conjured up by a disturbed girl who resided on this wing, adopted by her crowd of followers, and carried out as a means of sick fun to have- even if it meant to scare or mess with some poor girl who could not be able to ever defend herself. And that was what was going down on this slow break. The disturbed troublemaker had chosen her next target, Autumn No-Last-Name, so named after her ginger hair that was the same color as the falling leaves, signaling the next step of mother nature's endless cycle. Autumn was only five-two, and a skinny little creature incapable of lifting stuff over ten pounds. Autumn had a light layer of freckles, green eyes and a funny scar that ran from the left side of her nose all the way to the closer eye, going and ending in a turn. It was as if she was born with a cleft that was not only misplaced but elongated on that part of her face. Speaking of, she actually had a cleft that ran from her upper lip to the base of her right nostril, which was the one real reason Allison Taggart and her cronies forcibly grabbed and took poor Autumn to the lavatory to dunk her entire head into one of the toilet bowls.
Autumn kicked and punched as best as she could, but was really only wiggling about arms and legs like there was no tomorrow, making it only a hassle further for Allison. "LET ME GO! WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?" Her pleads meant nothing to Allie, but succeeded in diminishing the bully's patience. "I'M G-GONNA TELL-"
Allison kicked in the second bathroom stall once the party had entered, taking over the room. "Shut the hell up! Girls, give her a nice shower!"
The girl occupying Autumn's left arm cackled away maniacally, feeling nothing but pleasure in picking on Autumn. "With pleasure!" She helped drag Autumn right in front of the toilet and bend her down forcibly by pulling and twisting her hand. The other girl followed suit and rotated Autumn's arm downward, putting her face even closer to the center of the bowl. "Do it, do it Allison!"
"We're gonna make you wet, honey," Allison declared through a soothing voice Autumn knew was a real as a miracle around these parts. Allison put a foot over the back of her victim's head, then pressed hard against it, shoving poor Autumn's whole face underwater.
In the water, she choked, opening her mouth in an effort to breathe, somehow thinking she'd get air in that way. Or maybe it was just a primitive instinct of hers that kicked in, in this moment of dire need to survive. For all she knew, Allison really planned to drown her. The lanky arms of hers tried to break free from the grip of the stupidly stronger girls at her sides. The laughter of theirs, muffled away through the water, continued on: they were vicious and demonic in nature, a terrible, sickening form of joy emitting from monsters she believed they were. Monsters closer to her at all times, eager to hurt her.
If only mommy and daddy had decided to keep her instead of condemning her to a life where she had no choice but to live through.
"YOU FUCKING CUNTS!" The former member of Allison's gang had come barging in, pushing the door hard enough to send it smacking against the wall. This was a girl with a weird set of white hair and pale skin, cut short into a pixie hairstyle. Her personality was cold and dark, but was also a hothead when she had her moments, and God help anyone who was on the other end of those moments. She was the lone wolf type, never wanting to develop a bond with the other kids here, let alone even talk to anyone. Whoever addressed her would usually get the cold shoulder. That was who she was, a girl who had rejected a name she had been given. It wasn't her name, she figured, just like this wasn't the life she believed had been forged just for her. Hatred, hatred to those who put her on this path. "YOU'RE FAR FROM YOUR TERRITORY!"
"Fuck off, Estelle!" Allison roared, standing in front of the stall. "East wing belongs to me!"
"East wing on the first floor is yours, you stupid fucking slut!" Estelle cracked the knuckles from both her hands. "This one's mine, and top belongs to that dumb redhead."
"Fuck you and fuck her too, and get lost!" Allison turned around to disregard the albino. "I'm in the middle of-"
Estelle pushed Allison into the side of the stall, took her head by the hair and slammed it against the side. "You don't fucking turn your back on me, whore."
"Shit, Allie!" The left cronie let go of Autumn's arm and swung at Estelle, only to be countered and punched twice in the gut by the fighting girl. "Ow!"
Estelle put her whole hand in front of the cronie's face and pushed her right down to the floor, then threw a backhanded slap to the other cronie. "Pussies, you're so weak and pathetic!"
"Bitch!" Allison, face drenched with blood, threw out a single but the only punch she was able to deal to Estelle. "Ha, how do you like that?"
Estelle swung her leg up and struck between Allison's legs, making her cry out in pain, followed by her stumbling sideways onto the floor. "How do you? That'll teach you to fuck with me, you piece of shit."
Autumn pulled her head back, gasping for breath that she had now been able to take in at long last. Wiping the toilet water off her face, she stood up and turned to the commotion behind her. Estelle looked down at Allison with hostility, not acknowledging Autumn for a second. "Stay the fuck out of my domain."
"F-fuck you-" Allison cursed before Estelle struck her face again with the sole of her foot, knocking her out.
"Idiot," Estelle laughed in triumph. "You were always cocky, Allie."
Autumn moved to the sink, turning the faucet on and cupping her hands to hold water. She splashed it on her face and promptly wiped down with a paper towel from the dispenser. Once she dried most of her face, she looked back at Estelle and the beaten girls, struck in awe at how one girl took on three other girls. "Th-thank you- They wanted... I think they were gonna-"
"Get lost, weakling," Estelle interrupted, unwilling to listen.
"I'm sorry-"
"Hey," Estelle faced the bullied girl, identifying her now that she was seeing Autumn directly. "I thought I recognized your voice, you're the transfer."
"Y-yeah, that's me," Autumn nodded. "I don't think we've properly-"
But Estelle went over to the sink, washed her hands and promptly began to exit the bathroom, not having any care for the poor scrawny girl. Autumn herself left the bathroom rapidly once taking a quick glimpse back at Allison and her crew. She wasn't eager to get into trouble here in the bathroom. Hurrying away from the bathroom, she smelled herself and realized she needed a shower. As she headed down to the first floor, she thought of expressing her gratitude to her new roommate again, perhaps when they were asleep.
It had only been about a week since Autumn moved into Estelle's room, following an incident between Estelle and her previous roommate, of which Autumn wished she hadn't heard about, after the rumors spiraled around the institution. Estelle seemed to be the cold type of person, unable to or perhaps choosing not to form a bond with anyone. In truth, Autumn was only a little scared of her, for she had a creepy aura that was either strong or weak, but was never absent in nature. Maybe that girl had a natural form of darkness in her that made her unworthy of having some sort of connection with. Maybe Estelle was far worse than the other girls. Maybe not associating with her was for the best.
Estelle had retreated back into her room in the meantime as lunch continued to progress, and locked herself in, casually jumping on her bed to lie down. She accommodated herself upon her bed, the one placed against the right wall in the room. At her feet, her brown, aging dresser stood proud and mighty but silent as it always had. Estelle was perfectly relaxed now, moving her hands to her hips. Her pale fingers connected to her black sweatpants, and she pulled them down to her feet and slipped them off after a few lazy kicks around. Then, her fingers hovered over her growing womanhood; she wanted it, ever since she had gotten a taste for it from a source within the facility. Now she had to be the one to give that pleasure to herself, despite it not being as good as the first time.
Touching her clit, she moaned out softly but with a high voice pitch. She shut her eyes after starting to rub around in a circular motion, enjoying the sensation she felt as she went on to finger herself while also picturing the older girl who had eaten her out. "Oh y-yes!" she went, moaning along as she mentally pictured her old partner licking and kissing her vagina. "I've been a good girl, m-mommy! Make me your personal slut, p-please!"
She stuck her tongue out and started going out of breath as she further masturbated violently. In the next five minutes, she had gone moist and stained her bedsheets with her inner bodily fluids. Now she was a hot mess of sweat and cum, reduced to a lump of human flesh worn out and relaxing away in her stained bed as she caught her breath again. "Fucking hell..." she cursed after having forgotten her special rag that helped her clean her womanhood up. Now she had to wait for it to dry instead of wiping away with her hands. "Fuck it."
But she couldn't wait; lunch period was almost over, so she got up and went over to her dresser, grabbing the rag she had left there before lunch started. She stuck the rag in between her womanhood and began to lightly tap upon it. It almost felt good enough to have herself a round two, but time was up- and secondly, she didn't want her legs to weaken, believing they would after they'd been shaking uncontrollably throughout her session. She dropped the rag at the corner of her bed and put her panties and sweatpants back on. The moment she unlocked the door, a visitor had arrived on the other end and knocked to alert Estelle. "Who's there? That you, Allie? Why don't you hop back-"
"Estelle," the voice on the other end called, "I must have a word with you."
Fuck me, they told Clemmons... Estelle banger her head against the door, grabbing the doorknob but not turning it. She made a sour face and gripped the knob tightly. You've gotta be kidding me.
"Estelle, open the door right now, please!"
"Whatever they said, it-" She broke off, losing effort to try and argue what she knew she lost. "Goddamnit..."
She accepted her fate and turned the knob, seeing the red-hot face of one of the institute's caretakers, Charlotte Clemmons, looking down upon her, arms crossed and left foot impatiently tapping away on the floor. "Young lady, come with me. And watch your tongue, I won't tolerate you having that kind of tongue!"
Estelle tucked her hands in her sweater pocket, mumbling to herself in anger while following Clemmons to her office. In the steps she took to get there, Estelle was already thinking far ahead. She had only one more warning prior to today, and this latest hands-on incident was her one-way ticket to getting the boot right out of Rennis. And she hated it, she hated to even think of not having a roof over her head, no breakfast, lunch or dinner at the same time every single day, and no showers. All this because a gang of girls crossed over to her territory, which was not even a good enough reason that justified her behavior. There was no going back now.
Clemmons locked themselves in her office after Estelle entered and sat down on one of the two lonely chairs opposite the desktop side of the room. "I have three girls in the infirmary right now, and all of them claim the same story, that you have beaten them up for using the bathroom? Is that right, Estelle?"
Estelle just jerked her head. "What do you want me to say?"
"Well, Estelle, I want you to tell me why you did it," Clemmons simplified, putting her hands right under her chin after folding them together. "I thought I made it very clear we have a no-violence policy. Bad enough you broke your old roommate's leg on purpose. I'm the only one who tried really hard with you, I've personally vouched for you myself because I thought you deserved a second chance. You know how this works, Estelle. One mistake and you're booted, and we won't hesitate considering we need to keep making space for new additions. If I need to remind you-"
"Yeah, you've told me a baby was going to take my place if I got booted out the first time-"
"And you've squandered the one chance I've given you, dear, so I'm sorry but I have to make the hard decision of removing you from Rennis."
"I was afraid of that," Estelle sighed, looking away.
"I'm truly sorry, my dear, but we can't afford to have troublemakers-"
"Those three girls are also troublemakers!" Estelle protested, standing up from the chair. "In fact, they were bullying my new roommate, I was there to just save her ass from drowning! She'll tell you!"
"Is this true or are you just trying to ensure you stay here? If that's the case-"
Estelle clapped her hands once and waved a finger at Clemmons. "I promise on my life, she was in the middle of it all."
"I find it skeptical that you would defend another peer, Estelle. It's just not like you..."
Estelle crossed her arms. "Well, it's true, miss."
"Okay, tell you what," Clemmons agreed to verify Estelle's claims, "I'll bring her here, I'd like to hear her side of this." She vacated her chair and moved around the desk. It was at this time that her nose finally picked up on a very familiar scent. Leaning her face toward Estelle, she sniffed the girl and then made a face of disgust, stepping back from her. "Is that...? Heaven's sake, Estelle!"
"...Shit."
"They did, they pulled me before I finished eating," Autumn explained truthfully to Clemmons, looking down at the floor beneath her. "I couldn't do anything, they held me tightly, and Allison said- Said she'd hurt me extra if I made a scene, and I believed her. I didn't want to be hurt but they took me up to the second floor bathroom and shoved my head underwater on one of the toilets."
"Dear..." Clemmons formed an apologetic tone, becoming her sincere self as she usually was. "I'm sorry you had to go through that. This... This is behavior I absolutely will not tolerate, so I will personally see to it that three girls get the proper punishment. In the meantime, my dear, you don't have to worry about them anymore, but please let one of us know the next time someone decides to pick on you, okay?"
"I understand, miss," Autumn told the aging caretaker, making eye contact to show her she would mean to report any next bully to the adults. "I will."
"Good girl, you're free to return to your quarters."
"Thank you, miss," Autumn expressed graciously, moving silently out of the office. She formed a smile, feeling pleased that she had pointed out the aggressors to Clemmons. Now they'd get the right punishment. What was left was the matter of Estelle. As far as Autumn had come to understand, Estelle had to be on her best behavior, and she walked on thin ice as it was. Even if the boot was retracted, some form of punishment would be dished out to Estelle for her role in the violence displayed earlier. But it could have been a whole lot worse. Thankfully, nothing bad could ruin the rest of the day. No other bullies. No other girls of pale skin being overly cold. And no talks with one of the caretakers.
If wishes were horses.
Estelle had finished packing up to leave the institute by the time Autumn came back to her room. On Autumn's bed was a mess of her belongings that had been emptied out from her yellow backpack by Estelle. "What are you doing with my-?"
Estelle pulled the straps of the backpack down to tighten the hold, preventing it from swaying about. "I'm all set."
"What do you mean?" Autumn had never been so confused the way she currently was. "But I thought- I thought you were safe from being kicked out-"
Estelle exhaled sharply, forming words in her mind before speaking to share. "At first I was happy that I got another get-out-of-jail free card here, but when I came back here... I don't know, I guess I opened my eyes and realized it was inevitable for me to get thrown outta here. If anything, I should probably just save them the trouble and just get the hell outta here. I hope this is making sense to you."
Autumn shook her head, not because she didn't understand but because she didn't agree with the riffraff. "But you could change... You could strive to be better, isn't that what anyone would want to do?"
Estelle moved backwards to the door. "What would I strive for, girly? There's no reason at all for me to do better. Nothing and nobody, not even myself. Shit, what do I care if anything happens to me?"
"W-well-"
"My parents disposed me as trash, what real value do I have apart from the imaginary value I put onto myself?"
"Uh-"
"No, fuck you. Don't answer that." Estelle set her hand on the knob. "Thanks for your backpack."
"I didn't..." Autumn cracked and gave in, trailing off after knowing how futile it was to argue with Estelle. "S-sure, I guess... I needed a new one anyway."
"Thanks, you're such a generous person!" Estelle complimented, using sarcasm in her tone. "I'll be sure to remember what you've tried to do for me, no one's ever stood up for me, you know? So... Maybe I'll think about you for a week or longer."
"Oh..." Truthfully, Autumn didn't know how to react. "Well, I suppose I can't say anything but to wish you luck on your journey out there."
"Appreciate that, I think I'll need all the luck I can get," Estelle concluded, opening the door and walking through it. She pushed it shut again, making a loud racket in return. Autumn winced in reaction due to her pet peeve of being sensitive to loud noises.
"I guess that's that..." Autumn faced Estelle's bed, honing her mind to adjust to it being empty for a short time before it was taken by another girl. Maybe her next roommate wouldn't be so terrible. "Farewell."
And then she noticed a white triangle sticking right out under the pillow. Her curiosity had drawn her over to it, and lifting the pillow did she find a white sheet of paper folded in half. She took it and held it, wondering if it was okay to read it. On one hand, Estelle had left it behind, but perhaps she did so because she had forgotten it. If it meant anything to the white-haired girl, she'd return to retrieve it. Autumn sat down and held the sheet over her lap, contemplating about opening it. A full, long, itchy minute passed by before she finally made up her mind. "Here goes..."
And she opened it to read the contents of the sheet;
For the daughter who will grow without me
I pledge this in your name
You are of blood Loud
Sin was the game
If it ever shall be that you return to me
I only hope I don't disappoint
I regret choosing to abandon you
For it hurts worse than a broken joint
I've concealed you from the true monsters
The label of abomination is not your birthright
And I will live in isolation
All so you can have a better life within the light
Goodbye daughter mine
I bid you farewell
And this gift of life
Before I burn in hell
And Autumn ended up feeling a nasty case of jealousy that spawned from the revelation that either of one Estelle's birth parents had left this to her when she had been left to the institute's care. Something for that Estelle... That cold girl who didn't seem to care for this letter. Autumn's feelings switched from jealousy to anger, her blood boiling at the fact that Estelle took this message for granted instead of keeping it for the diamond it represented. If Estelle didn't want it-
Autumn gave in to her boiling fury and ended up folding the sheet again and tore it once, then folded the ripped halves together again and repeated her action twice more. The remains in her hands were spread on Estelle's bed and left that way; Autumn didn't care if Estelle actually did come back only to find the one item she should have taken shredded to pieces.
Autumn sat at the side of her bed, staring across mindlessly at the empty bed. She sulked silently, hands folded together upon her lap. How dare the albino disregard the very thing most of the other kids would kill to have, Autumn included.
You didn't deserve that, Estelle...
The silence in the room would play its inaudible time, leaving Autumn feeling a rather strange emptiness and a case of confusion of how things seemed to work in life, the life she thought she figured out already. But she was wrong, and it was for that reason that she felt lost, unable to understand what she had to do and what she thought life really was. The outside world was the great beyond that was unknown to her, but she made it so that she believed the entire world took after the environment of the institution, where the adults were all friendly and helpful and very resourceful, where she only had to be wary of other children. But that was all just an ignorant mindset belonging to a girl who believed in a kinder world based on the settings of the children's books she had read time and time again. Even if life wasn't as she figured it'd be, she knew one thing; she hoped she'd have it easy, whichever path had been forged just for her.
But she missed on a simple thing just in front of her that could have been simply a coincidence or a simple foreshadowing of things to come. Three single pieces of the poem had fallen face up and had floated down to align next to each other;
abomination daughter burn
Autumn leaned back instead and looked to the empty canvas of a ceiling, thinking a life inside the institution wasn't looking so bad after all. Everything would be fine, she figured. Everything would be A-okay, as long as she remained within the facility.
I consider this to be a reboot; three girls with a blood connection and a dark family secret that has separated them but which will also reunite them. Forget what you know of the original, the story takes a whole new direction plot wise, also accounting for new twists and turns, and to top it all off, no Ronnie Anne this time. I've been originally thinking about making a sequel to the original tale that centered purely on Liby and her next adventure, apart from another idea I had with this old pal of mine focusing on Ronnie Anne's descent into the antagonist you see in the original, which also brought Sid into the story but those never really kicked off. The only remains of those notes have died in a discord thread but remain there nonetheless.
Also yes, Lupa and Liby have not gotten their names just yet so they have been given a different set, but they'll get there.
