Author's Note: Happy birthday, Vorona! It's been a month since we wrote a story with actual canon characters in it. Well, I fixed that today. I have been sitting on this idea for quite some time now. It all came from a song called "The Passenger" by Siouxsie and the Banshees. (Great song. Go take a listen to it. You can hear it as the ending song for the show, The Naked Director.) I once again have Mikado getting hit on in this bite. (I don't know why I do that. It just happens.) Anyway, the next birthday up is Saburo's and I already know what I am doing there. Also, Dark Side of Wonderland will be premiering in a couple of weeks. For now, enjoy this bite.
Ghostly Revelry
Tonight is a feast among the dead. Everyone is dressed in their fanciest party clothes. There's loud music and wild dancing. The sea of Japan couldn't even compare to how much booze was going around at this gathering. In the center sat a boy who looked out of place. He held a bright red cup in his hand and shrugged to himself.
Mikado had no idea why he was here. Oh wait, yes he did.
Lilith stood off in the middle of the active crowd. She looked like a child of the night in her long black flowy dress and a wreath of chrysanthemums on her head. The woman didn't wear any shoes and she looked as pale as she usually did. Only her deep red lips and long flowing black hair stood out in the glowing ghost lights. She climbed on top of a table and held her cup up in the air.
"Everyone!" she shouted. The ghosts and demons all looked up.
"A toast!" Lilith yelled. "To the freedom and merriment, we share tonight! Cheers!"
"Cheers!" the guests all shouted with their cups in the air. Lilith threw back her head and laughed. Mikado half-heartedly held up his cup and shrugged. Yes, it was Lilith who dragged him out here. He first smelt her perfume in his room hours earlier.
Lilith stood over him in the darkness.
"Lilith… -san?" Mikado asked.
"Get up! We have to go!" she whispered. The tadpole lay in his futon looking confused.
"What? Why?" he asked. Lilith grabbed him up by the arm.
"We don't have time! Let's go!" she said. The ghostly woman pulled him out of his futon. She tossed his clothes at him.
"Get dressed and come on!" she said.
"Why? What's going on? What are you doing here?" Mikado asked. Lilith smiled like a hungry cat.
"We're going out for a little party tonight," she said. The tadpole boy looked so confused.
"Huh?" he asked. She grabbed onto his shoulder.
"Stop asking questions," she said. "Just hurry up!" The woman gave him a stern look.
"Okay, okay," Mikado said. "I'm getting dressed. Geez." Lilith tapped her foot as she waited. Moments later, the tadpole was dressed and ready to go.
So, here he was.
Mikado still didn't get it. Why was he here? He wasn't dead. He wasn't a yokai either. Why did Lilith invite him here?
It was then Mikado was aware that he wasn't alone. He turned his head to the left.
She looked like a ghost with her pale skin. Her long purple hair matched her kimono. Her red lips and dark eyes had a haunting look. She broke into a huge grin.
"Hello," she said. Mikado blinked at first.
"Uh… hi?" he asked. She clearly wasn't human. In fact, he saw her real face for a second. So many little black eyes stared at him. The woman reached up and pushed some of her hair out of her human eyes.
"Nice to meet you?" Mikado said. The woman giggled.
"You smell good," she said. The tadpole nervously laughed.
"Uh… thank you?" he said. The woman stared at him for a moment. Then she licked him on the cheek with her large, black wriggling tongue. Mikado cringed as he tried to get away. She had already wrapped her arms around him. Not just two of them either. They all turned into eight legs. Mikado looked and saw the woman now had many eyes and fangs.
"You taste good!" she shouted. "Too good! I just have to have you!" The tadpole started to panic as the jorōgumo opened her mouth.
"No!" a woman's voice shouted. "Get off of him!" Lilith came up from behind the spider woman and jerked her off. The jorōgumo returned to normal as she whirled around. Mikado backed up, panting. Lilith had her hands on her hips.
"You will not eat my plus one!" she snapped. The spider woman stuck out her lower lip.
"But he tastes so good!" she whimpered. Lilith smiled as she shook her head.
"Don't worry," she said. "I brought you a present." The spider woman raised her eyebrow.
"A present for me?" she asked.
"Uh-huh," Lilith said. She reached behind her from the empty air. The jorōgumo's many eyes widened as she saw a bundled-up sack dropped to the ground. Drool came out of her mouth.
"Oh! Is that what I think it is?" she asked.
"Yes," Lilith said. "Enjoy!" The spider woman quickly bowed.
"Thank you so much!" she said. She pounded on the bundle and tore at the webs. Mikado had an unsettled look on his face. That could've been him. Lilith patted him on the shoulder. The tadpole turned his head. She grinned at him.
"Don't worry," she said. "He was a cheating wife-beater." The tadpole didn't say anything.
Mikado spent all night trying to escape the party. However, all of the female yokai and ghosts kept appearing beside him. They all had the same thing to say about him. He smelled so sweet. They did hit on him. However, no one else tried to eat him like the jorōgumo did. It turned into a game of What are you. Mikado had to run through all of the yokai that he heard about in manga and anime. They all seemed to pop up next to him out of nowhere.
Right now, a kitsune sat next to him. She gave him an elegant smile.
"Hi…" Mikado said.
"Are you human?" she asked.
"Of course I am," he said. She was grinning at him now.
"You don't smell like it," the kitsune said. Mikado felt a sweat drop form on the back of his head. They all kept saying something about the way he smelt. He tried to smell himself but he didn't notice anything.
"What do you mean?" Mikado asked. This kitsune seemed to shimmer in the ghostly lights. She looked normal except for her ears and tail. The red hair stood out in the darkness. Her black halter dress clung to her body. She tilted her head to the side.
"You look human," she said. "But your scent isn't." She wrapped her arms around his neck.
"There's so much more I have to know about you," she said. Mikado's eyes shifted back and forth. By now, he didn't have anything to say. The kitsune blushed as she stared into his blue eyes.
"Chizuru!" someone yelled in the background over the music. The kitsune turned her head. She looked at him with a pout.
"I have to go," the kitsune said. She let go of Mikado and started to leave. However, she paused and looked over her shoulder.
"See you around," she said. Chizuru smiled and winked. Then she went over to her friends.
She wasn't the only kitsune to hang around him.
Twin kitsune were hanging around him too. They sat on either side of him, giggling. For a moment, Mikado thought about Chikako and Fusa.
"Uh… hi…" he said. The kitsune looked up at him.
"So you're Lilith's shiny new toy—again," one of them said.
"Uh… yeah…" Mikado said.
"Not much of a talker, are you?" the other twin asked. The tadpole boy shook his head. The twins giggled as they stared at him like he was a cute puppy. He had a guess as to what they were thinking. Would they try out here? In front of all these people? They seemed to know what he was thinking.
Mikado froze at the sensation of a hand on his crotch. The twins were staring deep into his eyes. They had hungry smirks on their faces. Which one was touching him? Mikado took in a deep breath. One twin leaned in and kissed him on the lips. It was quick but he could barely keep it together.
"Can you guess who's touching you?" one twin asked.
"And who just kissed you?" the other asked. Mikado fought to keep a poker face. They really were like Chikako and Fusa. The twins giggled and grinned at him. Another one went in for a kiss.
Sometime later, another kitsune came up next to him. This one looked like a woman in her forties. Her breasts looked like they were about to pop out of her red and gold kimono. Her bright blonde hair bounced on her shoulders. She looked down and grinned at him.
"Hey there, handsome," the kitsune cooed. Mikado looked around for a bit. And then he looked up at her.
"Yes, you," the MILF-looking kitsune said. The tadpole stared up at her. The kitsune took him by the cheeks. She took a moment to study his face.
"Hm… the girls did say that Lilith brought an interesting guest with her," she said. "I didn't think you would be this interesting." The kitsune let go of his face.
"Tell me, are there more like you?" she asked.
"Other tadpoles? Yeah," Mikado said.
"Interesting," she said. "I would like to see them sometime. Here." She reached into her kimono and pulled out a pink and light purple business card. Mikado took it and looked at it.
"Keiko's?" he asked as he looked up. The kitsune MILF grinned.
"Stop by for a visit sometime," she said. She winked and walked off back to the crowd. Mikado was left sitting with a blank stare on his face.
Lilith danced her way over to the tadpole. Mikado perked up when he saw her. The Russian ghost grinned.
"Having fun?" she asked.
"Why did you invite me here?" he asked. Lilith gave him a catlike smile.
"Because I wanted to show you off to some friends," she said. The tadpole frowned at her. He stood up.
"Moi horoshiy?" Lilith asked.
"I'm not going to do this," Mikado said. "I am not some plaything that you can show off when you want!"
"Moi horoshiy, you misunderstand," she said. Mikado turned to work away but Lilith grabbed him by the wrist. He tried to shake her off.
"Let go," he said.
"No!" she shouted. "Stay here a little bit longer. Please." She had like a sweet angelic look in her eyes. Mikado rolled his eyes.
"Don't do this to me," he said. Lilith still looked at him like a needy little angel. The tadpole boy puffed up his cheeks frustrated.
For the rest of the night, more female yokai and ghosts came up to him and talked to him. Lilith kept her eyes on him here and there. She couldn't help but to smile to herself. They all loved her little plaything. He had been a sport to deal with it too.
I might have to reward him later, Lilith thought to herself. She went back into the crowd to dance with her friends.
By the morning, Mikado was standing in the middle of the empty street. He managed to survive the night. The tadpole walked home in silence.
