Chapter 13: Sailing
"Last time on Totally Epic: Hawaiian Style..." Monica started.
"Our contestants soared through the air on zip lines, collecting flags, and avoiding tree branches. In the end, Vivian ended up getting voted off due to her losing most of her flags. We're now down to the final three, and things are gonna get intense. Find out what's gonna happen next on Totally Epic: Hawaiian Style!"
The next morning, Setsuna woke up to an empty trailer. It felt a little strange to her, but she quickly got over it, and got out of bed to get ready.
"I may be the only girl left in this thing, but that doesn't intimidate me one bit. It just gives me motivation to be the winner." Setsuna told the audience.
In the mess hall, the three came inside, and got their breakfast trays.
"I can't believe I made it to the final three." said Kahlin.
"Neither can I." Johnny added.
"I know we're in shark infested waters now, but let's try not to be too competitive." Setsuna told them.
"I'm fine with that." replied Kahlin.
"Same here." Johnny added.
As the three ate their breakfast, Monica walked inside with Hailey and Charlotte.
"Good morning, final three. This is so exciting for all of you, and for us as well." Monica told them.
Hailey and Charlotte clapped.
"Now after you're done with breakfast, we're gonna be going back to the water. But no need to change into your bathing suits." Monica told them.
"Just be sure not to eat too much." Hailey added.
Then they all left.
"What'd she mean by that?" wondered Kahlin.
Johnny and Setsuna shrugged.
When they were done eating, they went down to the beach and saw that there were some boats waiting for them.
"All right, everyone. For today's challenge you'll be sailing a boat." Monica told them.
Charlotte then gave them each a map.
"You'll be sailing to a little island, somewhere over there." Monica pointed off into the distance.
"Whoever gets to the island first, and plants a flag on its' beach is the winner."
Hailey then gave them each a life vest.
"Whoever gets to the island last will be eliminated."
"An instant elimination? Guess that's not too surprising considering we're down to the final three." said Johnny.
The three each put on their life vest, got into a boat, and started the engines.
"Everyone ready?" asked Monica through her megaphone.
Everyone gave her a thumb's up.
"Then on your marks...get set...GO!"
And Monica blasted an air horn. The three then started off into the water.
"We'll see you at the island." Monica called out to them.
"Come on, Charlotte. We better get to the island." Hailey told.
"Come on, Pepper. We're going on the water." Charotte told her pet.
Pepper squeaked. And the three got on Monica's private boat, and sailed in the other direction.
On the water, the teens were making their way to the island.
"Okay, let's see where this island is." said Setsuna, looking at her map.
"I've got to go left. And then right."
As she drove her boat, she looked out at the water.
"Gee, navigating water's hard. It all looks the same." Setsuna told.
As Setsuna was making her way, Kahlin was steering his boat.
"This is going to be a piece of cake." he told himself.
And he followed his map, while also keeping an eye out for the other contestants and possible animals. Johnny was having smooth sailings, feeling calm and comfortable. In Monica's boat, the three were almost at the island.
"You know Monica, I have to say this was a pretty east challenge for the semi-finales." Charlotte told.
"Oh, they are a couple surprises for them." Monica told her.
"You got that right." Hailey piped up.
And then they came up to the island.
"So Pepper, what kind of surprises do you think they're gonna get?" Charlotte asked her pet.
Pepper just squeaked.
Out on the water, things were going smoothly until the water started getting choppy.
"Whoa, this is a little bumpy." said Johnny.
The waves got bigger and bigger and Setsuna was feeling them too. She went up and down, and got swished from side to side.
"Oh my gosh, I never knew water could be like this." she groaned.
Kahlin wasn't doing that good either.
"Good thing I didn't have a big breakfast." he moaned.
The boat was moving in such a way, it was making his stomach churn a little. Sure enough those waves were Monica's surprises. She had her interns set up some small machines that could create waves in the ocean.
Even though the waves were rough, they were able to go on. As Johnny was driving his boat, he saw that Setsuna was ahead of him. He sped up, and tried to pass her. When Setsuna saw him coming up on her, she went faster.
"Sorry, Johnny. But you're not getting ahead of me."
Kahlin's boat was behind them, and he was struggling to get past the two.
"I really want to I shouldn't just speed into this. Slow and steady wins the race." Kahlin explained to the audience.
Using his patience, and steady motions, Kahlin was able to get out of last place, and into about 2nd and a half place. But little did they know, they were coming up on another obstacle. The water in from of them started swirling in different spots.
When the boats got to the spots, they got caught up in the whirlpools.
"What the?" wondered Setsuna, as her boat began go haywire.
Johnny was also confused, when his boat started going in circles.
"Huh?" wondered Kahlin, when he drove into one.
As the whirlpools continued to spin the boats in circles, Johnny, Setsuna, and Kahlin struggled to get out of them.
"Come on." urged Johnny, as he turned the steering wheel.
It took a lot, but he managed to get out of the whirlpool.
"Whew, glad to be out of there." he told himself, and he rode off.
Eventually, the others managed to get out of the whirlpools, and back on course. Then on the horizon, they could see the island.
"There it is." observed Setsuna.
"I'm gonna win this thing." hoped Kahlin.
"Here we go." Johnny said determined.
They all went as fast as they could, wanting to get to the island first. But little did they know, there was still one more obstacle waiting for them. When they got to the spot, an explosion in the water which caused the boats to fly a few inches into the air!
Setsuna was so caught off guard she screamed in terror.
"Monica's really making this hard." said Setsuna.
"Explosions? This is just crazy." Kahlin replied.
Johnny was trying to keep calm, and keep his boat on track.
"Come on, Johnny you can do this." he encouraged himself.
"I've come this far, I'm not gonna let this stop me now." Johnny informed the viewers.
The explosions kept getting bigger, but they pressed on. On the beach of the island, Monica, Hailey, and Charlotte were waiting for the contestants.
"You don't think those bombs you put in are gonna cause any trouble under the sea?" wondered Charlotte.
"Don't worry, those bombs are completely safe for the under sea life." Monica assured.
Then back on the water, the teams were super close. Just as Kahlin was about to get there, a bomb went off in front of them, and sent him back. So the first one on the island, was Johnny.
"Johnny is the winner!" announced Monica.
"Awesome!" he cheered.
The next one to get to the island was Setsuna.
"Whew, at least that means I'm still in the race." Setsuna replied relieved.
When Kahlin finally got to the island, he couldn't believe it.
"And Khalin, since you're last that means you're out." Hailey informed.
"Aw man." complained Kahlin.
That night, Kahlin packed his things, and left the movie set behind.
"We're now down to the final two. Which means our next challenge will determine who will win the prize money. Who'll take be? Find out next time on Totally Epic: Hawaiian Style." Monica told the audience.
