Chapter 6 (Special thanks for the disease idea go to Jokermask18 and my father.)

Later, the two of them were eating ice cream as they sat in the Batmobile in a parking lot.

"Delicious." Roger said as he finished his ice cream.

"You said it." said Batgirl as she finished hers and they threw the cups away.

"So, Roger, how has your night as my sidekick been so far?" Batgirl asked.

"It's been awesome! I get to fight bad guys, help people, and hang out with my favorite hero!" Roger said. Batgirl smiled widely.

"It's been great for me, too. I get to help out a kid, and spend time with my biggest fan." Batgirl said.

Roger smiled before he suddenly looked pained.

"Roger, what's wrong?" Batgirl asked.

"My bone disease." Roger said.

"Is that what you're being treated for?" Batgirl asked.

"Yeah. Ever since I got it, I have felt bad. The doctor looked at my bones a week ago when I started showing weakness and extreme pain from slamming into things. My bones slowly deteriorate and turn into powder. The doctor's latest treatment managed to at least keep me from feeling intense pain, which is how I was able to help against Poison Ivy, but it didn't cure it. That's what tomorrow is for." Roger said.

Batgirl looked sad.

"Oh, Roger." she said before she brought him into a hug.

Roger returned the hug.

"I'm scared of the operation, because I've never had my bones operated on. I've only been to the hospital for checkups and flu shots. The more I think about it, the more scared I get." Roger said.

Batgirl smiled as she looked at Roger, "It'll be okay. Trust me. You know what might help you feel better?" she asked.

"What?" Roger asked.

"Me, Robin, Nightwing, and even Batman get scared too. We always are tough, but deep down inside we do get scared from time to time. We just keep going forward, never letting our fear own us. Come on, let me help you." Batgirl said as she got out of the Batmobile. Roger put his mask on and followed her.

"Now, listen, I want you to imagine that Scarecrow is right in front of you." Batgirl said.

Batwing looked and imagined Scarecrow was right in front of him.

"Now, I want you to punch with all you have." Batgirl said. Batwing readied himself and threw a punch with all his strength, imagining he was hitting Scarecrow right in the face and knocking him back.

"Now, tell me how that made you feel." Batgirl said.

"It felt…like I was really being brave." Batwing said before he did it again. He did it again before he imagined himself beating up Scarecrow. Batgirl smiled as she watched him.

"Okay, Batwing. We drove around for a while. What say we have a little fun?" Batgirl asked.

"Okay. Can you take me swinging?" Batwing asked.

A few minutes later, the two of them were swinging through the city as Batwing hung to Batgirl's back.

"This is awesome!" Batwing said.

Batgirl smiled.
