Remus Lupin looked for his friend for ages and he was scared that he might never see Sirius again. And, he was right. Because, the day James and Lily came out of hiding was the day Remus Lupin received a muggle call that mentioned a body in the lake near where Snape lived. He and James went to identify him and it didn't take them long to recognize the black diamond rock on his finger. It was the Black family ring that was given to him by his great-uncle, the only person he liked. James and Remus worked even more harder to end the war in honor of their dead friend. And, Snape…..he looked for ways to make it up to the Dark Lord, to prove his loyalty, to get her back. He had only one arrow in his quiver…and that was to lure out and weaken James by bringing Hazel out.

After weeks looking for her, he finally did. He found the almost two years old on a small farm in Kansas City. He couldn't help admiring James's techniques, had he not stolen a little of James's blood, he wouldn't have ever found her. He looked at the black haired girl and the blue eyes. James had truly done a great job, changing her appearance.

He was going to take the baby but he changed his mind. He didn't know what to do. He was conflicted. The dark Lord wanted James Potter dead. No matter what he did, James Potter always managed to get home, and he returned home to his wife safely. He could do it….take his daughter and make him sacrifice his life for hers. He would do it, Snape knew that. Snape knew that James would lay down his life for his daughter. But, sinking this low…..this wasn't him. James had spared his life and Naomi's. He couldn't…….but. He disapparated.

James Potter was called to a mission one night and it was a false call, both Remus Lupin and James Potter walked into a lion's den. The whole place was surrounded by Death Eaters. James and Remus tried to keep up and even the Dark Lord made an appearance because he wanted to get the job done. He had sent a lot of his men to end the three Marauders and only one was dead. And, two were working twice as hard to end his reign of terror. James and Remus were killing it, only two of them and eight of the death eaters were lying on the floor, unconscious. James only staggered when Voldemort mentioned his daughter.

"Would you like to see your daughter, Potter?"

"Hazey?" He took a step back. "You can't….you don't know……She's not…"

"He's bluffing, James!" Remus shouted.

James weakened and lowered his wand and Voldemort raised his wand.

"Bring her out." Voldemort shouted. "Your wand and your life…….for the girl."

It was her. It was the same girl he had left on the farm. The girl he had loved. The girl who was the most precious person in the world.

"What say you, Potter?"

He always asked these men and women to join his cause, many did…..fearing for their lives. But, in the case of James Potter, he knew better to ask. He knew James Potter would die the honorable death than ever bent the knee to the man who killed his friends and family.

"He's not going to hurt a child." Remus shouted. "Don't give up your wand."

But, James knew better. James knew his followers could murder an eleven year old, what would a two year old mean to them? He knew better. James threw his wand down.

Voldemort lied. James should have known that too. He was not an honorable man like James. He wanted James to suffer. He took his wand and pointed it at Charlotte who held a small toy in her hand. She was quite unaware of what was happening,

"Sectumsempra." He screamed.

"NO…." James screamed.

Before he could do anything, Snape jumped in front of the baby and the spell hit him.

Other members of the Order appeared and overwhelmed the Death Eaters who soon disapparated after Voldemort did.

James Potter stared at the bleeding body of Snape.

"No!" James shouted, as someone raised their wand. "Stop."

He sat in front of Snape.

"It's not her, she's my daughter," Snape croaked, "I let him disguise Naomi as your daughter. I knew where she is."

James nodded,

"I know where Hazel is. But I didn't tell. Potter…." Snape said, "James….I didn't tell."

James was relieved.

"Naomi doesn't have anyone," Snape said, "You have to…..you have to…."

James knew what it meant.

"I will," He assured him.

"I killed him…Black." Snape was confessing his crimes, he didn't know why. "But…..don't…don't treat her…..bad…….me…"

Remus had no idea what he was saying, neither did other people. But, James…..he knew. He had done this before. He had sat in front dying people and listened to their last requests. And, Severus Snape was making a last request to James to keep his daughter safe. He was bowing down to his mortal enemy. But, it didn't matter because Snape was dead.

James took Naomi and took her to the same farm Hazel was. And, waited for the war to be over.

The wars raged on and Lily was expecting their second child. In order to protect her and his unborn son, James took Lily to the same place where Hazel had been living for the past two years. Lily didn't object since she was very tired of the war and couldn't bear to be apart from her daughter anymore. And, there she saw her……Naomi Snape. The daughter of the man who tried to kill her family.

"You are keeping her safe?" She asked James in disbelief. "You are protecting her?"
