Despite the swampy background normally being a not so appealing view, up close it hid a sort of.. tranquil environment almost as if the muck itself was alive like it was holding its breathe, it was... unnerving.
Its been a good 2 minutes since the two had arrived at the swamp and not a single sign of a boomshroom anywhere. "Ugh- Buddy.. hate to break it to ya, but no sign of your precious shroom thingies"
"Its boomshrooms Anne, and you're not looking in the right direction" replied Wally
I looked at the frog who was pointing straight upwards. I followed where he's pointing at and low and behold was a giant nest. Complete with the sticks, eggs and everything, and including a makeshift bandolier bag holding presumably were the boomshrooms seeing Wally's gleeful expression.
Wally swiftly hopping over the branches of the tree that held his lost belongings and was already in the nest and signed Anne to follow him. With much difficulty I was able awkwardly stumble over the first few branches since climbing trees isn't my best skill, which Wally responded with "Wow, are all humans this slow!" with humor in his tone.
When I finally did reach the top I was only met with Wally commenting "Took you long enough" with an unimpressed look, which I responded with my own unimpressed look. Wally was just grabbed the cyan bandolier and commented "Well that was easy! I don't even know why I got you to tag along".
I just looked at him with confusion "Speaking of that why did you get me to tag along? You could have done this all by yourself"
"Cause why not" he said with a cheeky smile.
I should be furious.. maybe even a little mad but I'm not, kind of expected it really. I learnt a lot about this frog guy and it seemed like something he'd do. All was well until Wally wasn't infront of me anymore.
Now Anne, what do you mean he's not infront of you, did he jump over you? Backflip out of the nest and into his impending death? or maybe he just straight up disappeared right infront of you like some frog with super powers.
No it was none of those things.
He got carried away by a freaking dragonfly.. a very giant dragonfly at that. It seems insects here grew thirty times more than normal.
What we didn't notice was the fact that there were a bunch of dragonflies a branch above us and one of them decided that Wally looked nice enough to grab. I quickly climbed back down to the ground hoping to think of something to help Wally out.
Wally now screaming in panic quickly pressed a boomshroom and threw it at the dragonfly's eye which blew up in its face causing it to drop Wally to the ground only to be caught by me. The dragonfly flew out of sight.
"Well I didn't expect there to be any dragonflies around" he said
"Don't you mean a drag-Anne-fly" I replied which got Wally to laugh out loud.
Wally hopped back on the ground. "Ya know you not so bad after all Anne. Hear take this" He shoved couple of boomshrooms at me. "Take it as parting gift would ya. I don't know if we'd meet again but it was nice meeting you Anne the human"
I felt my eyes tear up a little. "Awww I'd miss you too! I knew you care about me somewhere deep in that little judgmental heart of yours :) "
"Psh.. as if beastie"
"Wait- was that a nickname :0 " I asked genuinely surprised.
"Of course not, calling you beastie is less weird than Anne" he argued.
"But Anne is my name"
"Exactly" he said
"His answer didn't answer my question" I thought as I watched him hop away into the forest in the same direction as the dragonfly from before. I can almost hear him playing his concertina as he hops away with his remaining boomshrooms.
I hope I'd see him again soon.
